Chapter 545: Pixel Invasion!
( Royal Fortress.)
The whole place is on high alert and tons of aircraft from space are making a desperate landing request and some smash onto the airfield, but the crew are unharmed, sorta.
The Royal Defenders arrive and see this. "Holy shit. What the hell?!" said Neil. Becky has her healing fire ready and she goes over to help, while Luna and Dana help put out some of the fires.
Boomer then sees something. "Guys, incoming!" They all look up and see one the Global Stratospheric Transports ( GST) coming down from space and making a huge splash near the Royal Fortress.
"What in the hell is going on?" said Gwen.
Jack Cyber takes off and he lands onto the large platform and sees the damage. "What the hell?" What does he see? Parts of the large spacecraft have been broken down like blocks, small blocks and are still falling apart, but soon subside and he takes one that is glowing. "What is this?"
He then scans it and is wide eyed at what it is. "Shit. They did come, I fucking knew it!" He then takes off to the sky and heads for space to join the fight.
The others head into FutureTech and see Martin, Clover and Victor in the war room. "Guys, whats? Oh wow!" said Linka as they look to the screens as well.
What do they see?
Three GST's are trying to blast and hold off something big, something menacing and something that's causing major damage to their space fighters. The X-Wings and TIE fighters are doing the best they can and now they're sending in GDI Orcas and Nod Venoms.
"What the hell is that?!" asked Lori.
Neil looks closely and knows it and so does Lincoln and Sunset. "Galaga?"
That's right, they are looking at the Mothership boss from the arcade game, Galaga and it's sending in tons of iconic aircraft and its own Galaga minions to attack the GST's.
Seeing this happening is so confusing. "Why is an old fashioned arcade game going toe-to-toe in attacking us and what the hell is going on?!" asked Jordan.
Martin and Victor look to each other and nod. "It's time." They then walk off and Clover follows with such confusion and the others also follow them.
"What do you guys mean?" asked Lori. "What is happening?"
"The Guardian told us this might happen and so it did" said Victor. "We came prepared with the knowledge he gave us and he's soon to come back after telling this to President Biden."
They all go into another room and see tons of blasters and other weaponry they have never seen before and a large cannon and some rocket launchers, but the launchers are square-shaped and not round.
"Dudes, we're kinda in the dark here" said Sam. "Can someone tell us what's happening?"
"Where the heck is Sergei anyway?" asked Leon. "I haven't seen him all day."
"He said he had to go to the other dimension and check on something" replied Lincoln. He then goes to Clover. "Do you have any idea what the heck is happening?"
"I'm kinda in the dark as well. I don't know what's going on either" replied Clover.
They then see Martin and Victor place the weapons into some cases and so Leona and Neil help and then Carol, Lori and Gwen. They carry the cases with the large weapons and all of them head out of the base.
"We need the Aegis down here now" said Martin. "We can implant the enhancements from these weapons into the main battery launchers and other anti-air weapons to ensure that we can knock that thing out of the….."
Lincoln pushes him down and points his blaster. "Answers, now!"
"Stand down commander." they all see Gyro arrive. "I know what's going on and what those things are."
Lincoln lowers his blaster and Martin gets back up. "What's going on Guardian? What's with the overpowered alien attack and why the heck does it look like an old-fashioned arcade game come to haunt us all?"
Leon chuckles. "That should be a horror movie name, dude."
Gyro sighs. "What we're up against are called the Vululans. An advanced alien race that can be able to replicate whatever the other race has with the power of Pixel-tech, and when they do this, it gets wild real fast."
"They're from another dimension and attempted to invade the earth in the one and succeeded in winning two out of three rounds, even though the last part was that the arcaders cheated, well one of them cheated and so it turned into a final boss fight between them and the boss of the Vululans who took the form, of Donkey Kong."
They all remain silent. "Hold the phone, what? Donkey Kong?"
"From the top Guardian" said Boomer.
"Fine." Gyro then tells them. "It all started in 1982, when the folks from NASA sent out a time capsule to show aliens what human culture is, but the ones who found it are the Vululans and they thought it was a declaration of war, and so they came and they used the knowledge of what they found as a weapon."
"Which are arcade games! Damn it!" said Sunset. "They thought the humans were declaring war?"
"They're boss like to challenge and fight against those who think their better and so they deployed everyone. They're first attacks came and they began to destroy military installations and attack monuments, while in the end taking someone as they're prize" replied Gyro.
"It took the knowledge and skills of four arcaders to knock them to their destruction, at first it was two, then became three and went to four when they had to fight the boss. The four arcaders are grownups who still have the knowledge and skills from the past."
Gyro then uses levitation to catch one of the falling Orcas and lands it down safely. "Now as I was saying, they found out what they're weaknesses are and it's pretty much light or in other cases, deadly game-style ammunition and I went to this world and secretly got the same blueprints from their science facilities."
"So, the guns we saw, those are light based weapons?" asked Linka.
Gyro nods. "Indeed. Right now, we're also going to need the Prism Tanks to be deployed as well, and also the Aegis Battlecruiser has auto-weapons systems forged from Prism tech and can be useful for the fight, but we need more light weaponry."
Lincoln then recalls. "The Aegis' systems are adaptoid level reengineering and can be able to change all the updrive guns to anything they have been enhanced with. All thanks to some Protoss reverse engineering."
"Exactly, now let's get that thing airborne" said Gyro.
"Stop!" They all look to Sunset. "You said it took the skills of Arcaders to knock the aliens down right?"
"I did, yes" replied Gyro.
"Then we're gonna need some help, some arcaders help" replied Sunset with a smile. Lincoln, Linka and Jordan know what she means. Sunset looks to them. "Let's call in some backup."
The Aegis soon arrives and they all make their way to the dropships and send some others to go to Royal Woods, and look for their friends.
( Space.)
All GST's have taken heavy damage and are making a hasty retreat back to earth for repairs, the Aegis then gets into view and the enemy alien ship from " Galaga" stops attacking and waits for the next fight.
Inside the Aegis, everyone is in high gear and is getting ready to deploy. All guns have been adapted and are now replaced with light-weapons systems and ready to clash.
Looking through the large glass window and seeing the enemy ship are the friends from the Royal Woods Middle School: Laurence, Allison, Simon, Stella, Clyde, Liam, Zach, Rusty, Lance, Trent, Artie, Chad, Richie and Flat Tire. Also there are Rocky, Timmy, Coop, Kick and Gunther.
They all see the large aircraft and are shocked. "You know, when I wanted to go to space, this is not how I imagined my first time" said Zach.
"That is one big ship, of aliens" said Artie. "Hostile aliens."
Then they see Lincoln and the rest of the team go towards them. "Hey guys, I know you all have questions."
"Yeah, we were told about the whole ordeal, don't need to tell us anymore" said Simon.
"We're just ready to fight these things and send them back to where they came from!" said Stella.
"We're ready to do our part and that part is saving our world and other worlds from these freaks!" said Chad.
"Never thought this day would come and it did and we're locked, stocked and ready" said Laurence and Allison.
Lincoln, Linka and Jordan are amazed at what they just said. "Okay….. Wow, well we should get you guys to the guns" said Linka. They all follow Linka, Lincoln and Jordan across the three hallways as they split up
Each of them see the large weapons rooms and they have been modified to look like an arcade and all of them only have one thing to say. "Cool!"
Lincoln, Linka and Jordan then brief them on what they have to do. "Alright guys, those things are distorted by light weapons, the weapons on this ship are based off that weaponry and some of the others will be on topside of the Cruiser to fire some of the light cannons as well."
"We want you guys to operate and fire the main weapons systems of the ship to engage anything else trying to come towards us and to the planet. Think of this as a game, but with not much lives left and the final boss part too."
"We have been fighting and playing in arcades and going through hell making the scoreboard big, so we all have experience and call ourselves veterans of gaming and arcading war, we all know what to do and how to win, and take the victory with stride. So, any questions?"
They all look to each other and smile. "Let's take them out!"
Lincoln, Linka and Jordan. "Then, Game on!"
( Later.)
The large Galaga ship then gets hit, they spot some Prism Tanks are on the Aegis Battlecruiser and blasting towards it from long range, then the Royal Defenders are with them and wearing space suits and are armed with the light cannons.
All the weapons of the Aegis are now pointed at the enemy ship and stand by to fire.
The large enemy pixel ship then sends in everything it's got. All the mobs and flying foes from all known arcade games, and even some that are just damn annoying and hard to fight are sent out to attack.
Seeing all of this is making them scared. But Clyde looks to the threat sternly. "You guys ready to do this?!"
They all look to each other and nod, they wait for the moment that Lincoln gives the signal and at the moment, Lincoln is with the others with light cannons and he waits for it.
"Alright everyone. Some of us know what to do and most of these aliens are using patterns in the arcade games of the past, so let's lock and load and show them this planet is not theirs to take and destroy, Game on People!"
They all commence the attack and blast through every single piece of pixel-based enemy coming at them.
( Que them song: Game On!)
The heroes on topside of the ship blast their way through every pixel aerial threat, and the Prism Tanks focus their blasts onto the boss ship itself.
And the kids and preteens are having a literal blast manning the weapons and seeing on their screens the enemies getting vaporized by their attacks.
Centipede closes into the Aegis and Stella sees this. "Oh! I am going to win you all over again, freak!" She forces her blasts and continues to shoot and as the centipede redirects itself, she continues to focus fire onto it.
The Tetris blocks are coming in for a landing and this gets the attention from Allison and Laurence. "Seriously? This game is an easy play!" said Laurence.
"Let's match em, and knock em out!" said Allison.
They begin to blast each of the Tetris blocks which then blowup and spiral out of control and hit their own pixel-alien forces.
Coop spots some Galaga drone ships coming in to attack. "Lock, load and get out of here!" He steadily takes down each one and then reloads and then continues his barrage to make sure they don't hit the ship.
But the whole Aegis Battlecruiser is protected by a powerful barrier made of light, which means the enemy's projectiles won't do much, but it doesn't mean that can't land on it!
Leon then sees something. "Pac-man!" They all see a yellow circle has landed and it awake. "Wow. That guy is big." They then see his eyes are angry and he's ready to eat. "Oh shit!"
They all run and focus their attacks and see him closing in and he's already destroyed one of the Prism Tanks, thank goodness they're AI controlled for the fight.
Pac-Man closes in to attack Linka, but then he's knocked out and vaporized by a Multi-Gunner IFV painted pink and has light energy around it and who's driving? Martin.
"You just got punked, you dot eating, cherry munching, ghost-phobia monster!"
Victor arrives in an orange IFV. "Guys, hop on and shoot while we drive and knock over some hostiles coming in!" Then Jack Cyber arrives in a Blue IFV and Clover in a red one.
"This is just, wow!" said Clover.
They all hop on and drive around the place and shoot the skies as the enemies send everything they got, every pixel-based warrior from the known arcades of the past and even from Castlevania too.
"You gotta be kidding me? Him?" Simon then blasts Dracula and so does Kick and Gunther.
The Prism Tanks keep up the attack and soon enough, the hostile ship from Galaga is getting torn apart from the constant attacks from the Battlecruiser.
Lincoln then has the light cannon charged to max and aims. "Game over, bitch." He sends one shot and it hits the head of the boss ship and it blows up, but the enemy is not going down without a fight and something is headed towards them and lands on the topside of the ship.
They all look at who it is. "Donkey Kong."
The large boss from the game Mario fought is enraged and begins to throw burning barrels at them and they try to evade his attacks.
"Is it just me, or is this Donkey Kong worse than the game we played long ago?" asked Neil.
"Seems like it!" yelled Sunset.
"We gotta take him out!" Jordan blasts at the ape chasing them, but to no effect.
"This guy is immune to it, he's immune!" said Linka. She also tries to blast, but still nothing.
There aren't much enemy pixel-aircraft and so the guns focus they're attacks onto the large ape chasing the IFV's with the heroes on them.
"Die you barrel throwing, damsel stealing, banana eating freak!" yelled Liam.
"Take him out! Take him out!" yelled Rusty.
"He's not going down!" said Stella. Donkey Kong then tosses his barrel and it destroys the gun Stella was using. "What? No fair! I want a retry!"
Donkey Kong keeps tossing barrels to knock out the main guns the kids are operating, and all of them are as angry as arcade gamers who want a rematch from losing! God damn it! AAAAAAARGH!
Lincoln then recalls something. "There's no pattern when facing Donkey Kong, and since we're not in his ship because we blew it up, he doesn't have his level, and so he's improvising!"
They continue to drive around and dodge the threat from going near them. "He is so angry!" said Leon.
"Anyone recall how to beat him this time?" asked Gwen.
"No clue!" said Sunset. "We don't even have the hammer that Mario used!"
Victor then recalls. "Actually, we do!" He opens the back and they see the large light hammer. "Someone grab this thing and…." Lori grabs it and she jumps off and leaps onto Donkey Kong.
The ape sees her headed towards him and she's coming in hot with anger in her eyes. "Game over, monkey!"
Lori slams onto the head and the boss is pixelized and destroyed from the hit. Lori lands onto the ground and places the hammer onto her shoulders and looks to the others. "Game over, players."
They see all the enemy pixel-aircraft are no longer in command of anything and crash or get vaporized. Without their ship, they have nothing to regenerate them and are nothing more than floating pixel debris.
Everyone on the Aegis and back on earth cheer at this victory.
The preteens and kids are also cheering, they won and knocked out the threat and Gyro smirks. "Way to go kid, she still recalls how good of an arcader she is."
The rest of the team go to Lori and hug her. "You did it Lori!" said Linka.
"You knocked him out!" said Jordan.
Lori chuckles. "Might I remind you kids, that I was the one who introduced Lincoln to playing video games?"
Lincoln departs from the hug and chuckles. "Yeah, darn right you did." He then hugs her again and every cheers and are relieved the threat is gone.
Neil chuckles. "Hot damn! We did it!"
They then watch as the Prism Tanks blast the floating pixel debris and it blows up like fireworks.
But to Martin he knows one thing. ' This is just the start, sooner or later, we might be facing something else and damn straight, we're gonna face it and knock them out. Together.'
