Star doesn't knew quarter. Oh, she knew what quarter was and would give it on many other days, actually any other day.
But not on this day.
Not when insane overpowered racists wanted to murder a lot of innocent monsters via throwing them off a cliff.
Not when this included a lot of little children.
Not if one of those children was Katrina Bulgoyaboff.
One Solarian Warrior learned this the hard way as Star shoot him with a magical arrow from her magic which she created from the magical ether. An arrow that went straight through the helmet and the chest of the guy. With it's pilot dead the Solarian Armor fell to the ground and stirred a lot of dust into the air.
"She killed him? How?!"
"That can't be, it is not the spell with no name!"
"Quick, kill her before she uses it again!"
Several Solarian Warriors charged at Star with their swords held up in the air, but no matter how hard they tried, none of them got even close to stabbing her, thanks to her quick reflexes. Dashing under another armor, Star raised her hands and shouted, "ROLLING THUNDER LIGHTING BLAST!"
The poor Solarian Warrioress was not able to defend herself as thunder and lightning tore apart the torso of her armor from below and found its way to the pilot. It only took a second for said pilot's body to turn into charred meat. Despite their long dead queen's spell preventing them from being afraid, the other Solarian Warriors were still vulnerable to other negative emotions associated with fear, like anger and confusion.
"How is this possible?!"
"These armors should be making us powerful, if not almost invincible!"
Unbeknownst to the Solarian Warriors, Mina and Moon, there was a weakness to the magical armors. A fatal design flaw that could only have been seen by someone that knew Solaria personally and saw the kind of magic she used. Eclipsa, the Queen of Darkness, had seen these powerful titans of metal powered by magic users emanating a power as radiant as the sun.
"Eat the sun."
And after finally fighting these titans, she knew how to beat them: By using dark magic to neutralize the light magic entering the magical circuitry of the armors. It was a simple debuff curse spell, but with the power of her magic wand and years of practice, she was able to cast shadows of wolves that silently entered the armors of the Solarian Warriors and spread like a silent disease, not causing harm to these super humans, but damaging their connection to their armors. Needless to say, she made sure Star was in the know. Now all they needed to do was slay these genocidal maniacs.
And speaking of maniacs…
"Species traitor!"
Mina Loveberry, one of the two women responsible for this whole invasion, landed on the battlefield, wearing her own armor and wielding a flaming sword. Nobody could see her face, but everyone there was aware she was smiling a psychopath.
"I should have killed you when you were imprisoned in crystal, you monster loving freak. In fact, I should have killed your mutant offspring to save us all the trou-"
"DAGGER CRYSTAL HEART ATTACK!"
Mina's hateful speech was interrupted by a blast of sharp crystals, courtesy of Star. She had had enough of Mina's hatred, and she was going to put an end to it once and for all.
Mina neutralized the attack with her Solarian sword. She swung it at Star, who bent her back behind far enough to dodge it.
"ANOTHER SPECIES TRAITOR! THE OTHER BIG ONE!"
"Thank you for calling me that, Berry," praised Star with a wink and a smirk. "We will end you, and then I'll take care of the rest of the Magical High Commission."
"No, I will kill you all, and then go after the magical high commission myself!" bellowed Mina. "They are not mewmans either!"
"There's a shocker for you," muttered Star sarcastically to herself. "SUPERSONIC LEECH BOMB!"
The young mage created several magical leeches and flung them at Mina. She reacted quickly enough, burning them away with her sword but, this gave Star time to attack more troops. Right now, she wanted to make sure she was the most important target to all these Solarian Warriors because it meant giving Eclipsa time to use a pair of dimensional scissors and evacuate everyone, especially the monsters, to safety.
"SUPER STRAWBERRY SHAKE QUAKE!"
Blasts of Strawberries hit several Solarian Armors hard. They did not destroy these metallic colossi, but did damage them significantly.
"CLOUDY!"
Summoning Cloudy, the Underestimated quickly got onto him. While riding him Star flew past, under and above several Solarian Warriors. Knowing she was too fast for them, she shot back, managing to land several hits times, some of which even fatally taking out a few of the mewmans inside the armors.
"Kill her, my warriors, kill her!" ordered Mina. "We will cleanse this world from the filth! We will fulfill our true Queen's vision! For Solaria, for Solaria!"
Such words, such horrid intentions was the reason Star was not holding back anymore. Toffee was not half as bad as Mina was, Meteora was not nearly as bad. Mina was too racist; the madness did not include this or excused it.
Creating a megaphone, Star used it to give Mina an ultimatum: "GIVE UP, MINA! GIVE UP OR I'LL SEE TO IT YOU REUNITE WITH SOLARIA! THE RIGHTFUL QUEEN ECLIPSA AND I WILL TAKE ANY CRIMINAL DOWN WHO EVER TRIED OR TRIES TO MURDER THE INNOCENT! AND WE WILL KILL THEM IF WE HAVE TO!"
Wanting to help Star, Eclipsa used her spell Night Guardian to give a boost to Star's attack and defense, since the Sun Eater spell was still taking time debuffing Mina. The darkness surrounding Star ironically made her shine brighter, like a shining beacon of hope.
"I won't let you destroy the legacy of our people!" screamed the mad purple haired warrior. "We are the rightful rulers of Mewni! We tamed this land and created a civilization! And we can do it again!"
"That is high talking for a former farm girl."
Star blasted a piece of armor with a Sparkle Lightning Blast, and the electric current got to Mina, who felt a lot of pain, but was still standing, refusing to lose focus on her enemy.
"You are just a scared farm girl that saw her chance to rise to power and took it."
"I am not scared! I am immune to fear! I can stand over corpses and smile with glee!"
Mina charged towards Star and hit her hard with a powerful fist attack. The light magic that was still circulating through the armor was enough to break Eclipsa's buff spell and send Star flying tens of meters away. Mina began walking slowly towards Star, charging her sword with light magic.
"The only thing I am scared of, failed princess, is a future where mewmans and monsters crossbreed and there's no longer a distinction between us. The only solution is to put an end to monster kind and all others creatures that aren't like us. Your path ends here, Star the Overestimated."
But when all hope seemed lost, one of the other armors was thrown against the one Mina was using. Surprised, she turned around to look at her attacker. Flying in the air, shrouded in an aura of darkness, was Queen Eclipsa, Parasol-Wand in hand. From it came the Neon Whip Spell, only it was dark-purple. The ethereal whip was holding several Solarian Armor units in the air. "End of the road, Mina," announced Eclipsa. "I've brought everyone to safe places and most of your army is destroyed. Not gonna lie, it was easier than I thought, but I know mother's magic very well, I know her creations, and their weaknesses, better than anyone else."
"Arch-Traitor," snarled Mina. "You love these abominations; you even created an abomination with one of them, that hybrid bastard Meteora! How could you create such a vile, worthless thing?"
Mina, enraged over being reminded of that event, lunged at Eclipsa, but she dodged her easily.
"Your politics have ruined the neighborhood and the Kingdom," sneered the former main servant of the Butterflies in total contempt. "Your death, along with that of Eclipsa and her family, will mark a brilliant new beginning!"
Star used "RAINBOW KAIJU BATTLE ARMOR!" with a shout and was once again in the magical rainbow construct. "Surrender or your death will be part of the end of this hateful uprising."
Manfred just attacked as a response, using his Solarian sword to slice after the armor. Star countered with throwing him over her shoulder.
"Eclipsa, buff me up!"
Eclipsa, hearing this, got away from Mina and used two spells in quick succession on Star. "SUN EATER" followed by "HAND OF THE ECLIPSE!"
Star, along with her rainbow armor, were hit by two dark spells. Both spells enchanted and changed her own magic, once again giving her the power to overcome the power of the Solarian Program.
"Die Star, I hated serving you!" shouted Manfred, charging at her with his sword pointed straight. But thanks to the two spell combo (and also her own cat-like reflexes and first-hand combat experience), Star grabbed the sword hand, twisted it around and used the Momentum to force the sword through the head of Manfred's helmet.
"And I hated that you served me," said Star in response, letting the now powerless armor with the dead servant in it fall to the ground.
Meanwhile, Eclipsa and Mina were still duking it out.
"Mina, stop," pleaded Eclipsa. "I've known you for a long time. I always hated your devotion to my mother's cause, because even if you succeed today, you will never manage to find and kill all the monsters. My mother herself was not able to achieve that goal, despite being in a better position to do so. Her own magic drove you, and all other Solarian Warriors, insane, but you were the only one to survive this curse. Stop it now. It's not too late to find peace."
"Never," was the tranquil response of Mina. Her madness and anger were going worse. "I will take from you what is important for you. And I think I may start with the one who foolishly supported you after you were freed."
Mina kicked Eclipsa away and then turned her eyes onto Star. She was occupied with more Solarian Warriors trying to avenge Manfred's death. Mina smirked seeing this. She activated something in her own armor which Mina had prepared, something special, something reserved for enemies which were especially dangerous. Her right arm changed, the fist of her armor moved to the side, and from the arm of the armor emerged a cannon that slowly started to charge with Solarian energy. Mina pointed the cannon at Star.
"Farewell, Shining Star of Evil."
Mina fired.
Star noticed the impact. She slowly turned around and saw Eclipsa, hovering before her. Arms and legs stretched out like a star.
"Star…" was all the heavily injured Queen of Darkness with a painful expression was able to say, before falling to the down. Star was able to catch the Queen of Darkness before she would hit the ground.
"Eclipsa…" said Star, worried for the rightful queen.
While Star laid Eclipsa's body on the floor, Mina and the remaining Solarian Warriors were approaching them.
"Boohoo, are you going to cry now, Twinkling Star? Are you too tough to cry?" Mina mocked with unrestrained glee. "Do I have to kill your friend from Earth? The demon guy? Maybe I will personally kill those frog kids you like so much."
The other Solarian Warriors laughed like psychopaths, and this made Star boil with rage. The former princess stood up and took Eclipsa's wand, which then took the form it had when it was Star's. She began mumbling something and the wand shone a green light.
"What are you going to do? Shoot rainbows and narwhals at me? Hahahaha-"
That was the last time Mina was heard laughing. Her armor, and the ones of her fellow insane racists, were torn apart from the inside by wolves made of dark magic that Star had unleashed with a raw version of Eclipsa's Sun Eater.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Star moved fast, managing to land precise and deadly strikes with her most powerful spells that quickly killed the Solarian Warriors that were closer to Mina. The rest of the warriors abandoned their own armors and ran away from the battlefield.
"Here's your rainbows and narwhals, Mina."
Mina tried to remove the wolves of darkness from her armor, but she was seconds later restrained by dark tendrils coming from the ground. For the first time in her life as a Solarian Warrior, Mina felt real fear. Not fear about dying, but fear about failing to uphold her promise to Solaria. She was scared of the meaninglessness of her own actions.
"I can't end like this! I must uphold my Queen's orders! I must do it! Solaria!"
It's not known what Spell Star used next. Maybe it was the unnamed dark spell that kills immortals, or the total annihilation spell made by Solaria or if it was one of the most creative (and destructive) spells Star has ever developed on her own. Whatever the case, there was a blast of light and then, everything was in silence.
A while later, Marco and all the friends and allies of Star on the battlefield reached the area of the finishing blow and saw Star crying in front of an unconscious Eclipsa.
"What happened?" asked Marco.
"I finished this." Responded Star with tears in her eyes.
At the center of the final blow, the burning remains of Mina's armor, and Mina herself laid there as well, seriously injured and slightly comatose. There was still a will to hate though.
Star looked at her.
Her, the queen, the rightful queen.
The one who had protected the young girl with her body and was now in a coma after critical surgery.
The one who had risked her life to rescue her.
Star was laying on the same bed as her, face to face, rolled up like a cat. It was highly unusual to do so, but she thought it felt like the right thing to do and Eclipsa was not in need of any medical equipment to be kept alive, which could have taken the space. She couldn't sleep, or do anything else really. Globgor was taking the reign of the Kingdom for the time being, but would take a break whenever he had the time to do so to look after his wife. Marco often came to look after her, Meteora in tow. Along with hundreds, if not thousands of presents in the form of flowers, chocolates, greeting cards and other stuff made by monsters and progressive Mewmans from all over Mewni. Some of those presents were also for Star, but many more saw Eclipsa as the bigger hero that day, the one to end the Solarian threat.
"Eclipsa… I am so sorry," said Star for the hundredth time now. "If I had been more observant… Curse you, Mina. Curse you, Solaria. Curse you… Me."
Star had cried, screamed, wailed in anger and lost herself in self-pity and self-hatred. She had killed to defend the innocent, but even if her victims were evil, she hated the thought of blood on her hands. It was like the time she ended the threat of Toffee, but this felt even worse because she killed so many more, and they were just civilians consumed by hatred. She also knew that Eclipsa had made a sacrifice so much worse than herself once; mentally killing her own daughter because that was the only way to stop her.
And now she may have sacrificed her own life to rescue the former Princess.
The former Princess who didn't feel like she was worthy of being rescued.
This Queen, Eclipsa, who had been changed into her nightgown, looked so peaceful and serene, even more so than usual. She always looked calm and laid back in most situations. Being friendly with everyone, even her enemies who wanted to see her back encased in crystal, or dead.
"Eclipsa, Queen of Darkness, if you don't make it, I will protect Meteora, Globgor and your ideals, even if it means my death," she whispered to her.
In another part of the Monster Temple, Globgor was slowly walking while using crutches. He was able to walk, but said crutches made it easier for him while he was recovering from his injuries. He took a peek at Meteora's room and saw one of the two humans, Janna, playing with the hybrid baby.
"And when you grow up, I can teach you how to dye your hair." promised the Goth teenager while cradling Meteora.
Globgor felt warmth in his heart hearing his daughter laugh, but the worry about his wife was still weighing him down i"I hope she recovers soon"/i was the main thought in his mind, and a secondary thought he was trying to suppress was the murderous rage towards the psychopaths that wanted to kill his family and his people. In the past, he would have tortured, slaughtered and eaten humans like them without caring, but falling in love with such a wonderful woman changed him a lot and he didn't want to go back that past self of his, so vengeance isn't an option.
"Oh hey, your daddy is here."
"Dada!"
The most powerful monster of Mewni walked slowly towards his daughter and asked Janna to let him hold the baby, even if he should be resting. Janna helped him sit on a chair and then passed the infant to her father's arms. The infant looked around with confusion.
"Mama?"
"She will be okay, little one. She will be okay."
Back at the infirmary, Eclipsa was slowly waking up. She opened her tired eyes and saw a blurry yellow and green figure by her side. It took her a few seconds to realize that this yellow and green figure was Star, and even more seconds to realize that she herself was in a bed in the Monster Temple's infirmary.
Looking closer at Star, she noticed that she was asleep. She didn't look good, many rings were under her eyes and she was moving from time to time in her sleep.
"Star…?"
Eclipsa tried to get up, only to fall back down. Her body felt very weak, weaker than ever before She tried to remember what happened during the battle. She remembered taking out many enemies without showing mercy. There was no time for mercy; her husband would die if they were unable to neutralize the Solarian magic, not to mention the many other monsters wounded by the Solarian Swords. Then Mina kicked her away, targeted Star and she got between the two…
"Oh, right," Eclipsa remembered with a happy smile. "I almost died protecting Star. Would have been a great death. Not as cool as having a moon fall onto you, but also pretty good and from a heroic perspective even better."
She tried to poke Star with one of her hands, but even lifting one arm was difficult. So instead of poking the young warrior, she awkwardly, but softly, shoved her hand into Star's face.
It was enough to wake her up.
"Hmmmm… What? Eclipsa? ECLIPSA!"
Eclipsa found herself in the tightest hug she had ever experienced. Few people could hug her with such emotion; amongst them were Globgor, her mother before she went completely evil and her first lover. Now Star was part of that group.
"Oh, by the magic realm, I thought you were dead!" cried out Star. "I am so happy you are alive."
"Ehm…" was all an overwhelmed Eclipsa was able to say.
"I am so sorry that you almost died because of me," cried Star. "Why did you have to protect me?"
Eclipsa gave a simple smile, more than willing to give her an explanation.
Eclipsa gave a simple smile and said: "Because you have so much to live for. You are young and you shouldn't pay for the mistakes of us old people. If I were to die one day I wouldn't worry because I have lived as freely as a I want, and I want you to live your life without fear of breaking some dumb rules."
Star changed her position to sit properly and not get numb legs. She felt happy about Eclipsa worrying about her, but she was still sad. There was something else bothering Star.
"I wish there were more adults like you. That way, none of this would have happened."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Star nodded.
"I am freaking pissed about my mom! She betrayed you and I wouldn't have been forced to kill all those people if she hadn't helped Mina create her own Solarian army! Why would she do such a thing?! I thought she was smart and diplomatic, not some kind of racist collaborator! I thought she had finally changed… I thought we could finally be more like a mother and daughter instead of a queen and a princess. Was all the bonding time we had months ago meaningless?!"
"Star. I…"
Eclipsa saw in Star how she felt a long time ago. It was the face she saw in a mirror every day while enduring all the horrible things her own mother did. All those beautiful moments she and Solaria had were darkened by memories of Solaria threatening monster kids and learning that she and her warriors had slaughtered hundreds of civilian monsters just because of unrelated monster bandits. It was also the face she had when the Magic High Commission persuaded her into marrying Shastacan by posthumous orders of Solaria, but she was able to change the day she decided to run off and meet with her lover, Globgor. She would have been happy with her family if not for the hatred of her ex-husband and the dogmatism of the MHC. She was crystallized and remained in stasis for decades, and after finally being free, she learned the sad truth: her daughter Meteora had been put in a miserable orphanage by Shastacan's orders, and when Globgor went to face the corrupt noble, Shastacan taunted Globgor about having killed Meteora, causing Globgor to eat him and giving the MHC a justification to crystallize the Monster King. With a broken heart and a great anger, Eclipsa swore she would no longer let the people responsible for the suffering of the Butterfly family continue messing with other people's lives.
"You are right about being angry, and you should be angry. As much as I loved my mother, I was angry about what she had become. The Monster Carver had to be stopped."
"Had to be stopped…" repeated Star. "Had to be…." Star's eyes widened in revelation. "You had a hand in her death!?"
"Yes," said Eclipsa in a blunt manner, but also full of sadness, sorrow and a hint of regret. "She slaughtered civilian monsters just for being monsters. I could only stand it for so long."
"I understand," said Star honestly.
"Talking with mother was pointless. Her hatred had taken control of her and she would not stop until all monsters were dead," Eclipsa told and then continued in a serious tone. "After that, she would take a short break before killing all the demons. This made it clear to me that she would kill all that are not Mewman. She would not stop. Never."
Star was at a loss. She knew Solaria was racist, but the fact that she would even go against the races that were not called monsters?
"My uncle Jushtin would have been the better choice as King," reminisced Eclipsa, smiling. "He was so much calmer, pragmatic and progressive. His diplomatic skill gave us reliable allies in the Pony Heads and the Demons. He probably could have also ended the Mewman-Monster war sooner and at a less heavy cost."
"I know," said Star, recalling her lessons about him. "You liked him a lot, didn't you?"
"Yes, I did," told Eclipsa, with longing in her voice. "But back to the point: I got my first lover and ex-boyfriend to do the deed. I gave him charges of similar spells like the one we used during the battle. Less refined but powerful enough to neutralize Solarian Power so the armors could be destroyed."
"Who was this monster?" wanted Star to know, more than intrigued. "He surely was a brave and powerful warrior."
Eclipsa closed her eyes. She was sure Star would not react all that enthusiastic in a few seconds.
With a nervous and serious sigh, she continued her tale: "We grew apart as it became clear we didn't jell together. He was disappointed, but he never faulted me for the end of our relationship, and during that time, he shared my ideals. He hoped that if he killed Solaria, I, as the next queen in line, would change the politics we both hated so much.
Eclipsa opened her eyes, her expression more serious than ever before. What she was going to say would be a big surprise.
"A week later my mother was killed in an ambush lead by Septarians. My mother was killed in combat by my first love and one of the greatest warriors among those reptile monsters."
"Toffee of Septarsis."
There was a long silence followed by-
"WHAT?!"
"In retrospect he was quite possessive and had a bad temper. Even if his heart was in the right place, he didn't think things through and became an extremist as the conflict went on."
(That big dumb grin he got whenever he said "surprise" didn't help matters either)
"Again, WHAT?!"
Star was still confused about Eclipsa and Toffee being exes. In her mind, that was the weirdest thing about this conversation, even more so than Eclipsa planning the assassination of her own mother.
"Our disagreements became fights, and he wasn't willing to compromise, so our relationship ended on a sour note, and to make things worse, mom and the Magic High Commission had arranged a marriage between me and Shastacan, and unlike River and your male friends, my human ex-husband wasn't a gentleman."
"Oh… Again, Toffee?!"
"I have been told I might be a teratophile?"
"I don't know what that means, but if it is like the other word with 'phile', I will tell Globgor to take Meteora away from you."
"I just like monsters. I really REALLY like monsters."
"Oooooooh. That makes sense and I don't have to request your arrest. But Toffee?!"
"A bad boy phase."
"That makes sense too."
The two women giggled at that funny interruption of a serious conversation before proceeding to talk about what they needed to talk about. They had to address the big elephant in the room.
"Eclipsa, I can't forgive my mom, but all those movies I have watched with Marco always preach that I have to forgive and move on. Is it okay if I want to be angry for a while? Is it wrong to feel this way?"
"What you feel is normal. As I told you, I can't forgive my own mother."
"Would you forgive my mom?"
Eclipsa became awkwardly silent.
"I am still unsure how racist she actually is," started Eclipsa, knowing she had to choose her words carefully. "I mean, she was against the Genocide, but her stupidity in regards to dealing with an extremist like Mina something that at least tells me that she should not have any political power ever again. Was she really expecting Mina to follow her plan?"
"She got her own commune, and she hadn't even tried to group the humans together whose homes you took away," said Star and then expressed mixed feelings with an awkward smile. She added: "You were right to give the monsters their land back but not planning accommodations for the resulting homeless Mewmans was a mistake. It kind of makes sense why many of them sided with Mina."
"My worries were for the disenfranchised," admitted Eclipsa. "I also forgot how dependent Mewmans are on their queen while Monsters have learned how to be independent. A parliament, or a senate would have helped a lot."
"Back to forgiving my mother…"
"Of course." Eclipsa put the conversation back on track. "I have to ensure that she can't rule over anybody anymore on Mewni and I can't let her go unpunished." Eclipsa sighed. "I actually like her but I think that I have to banish her from Mewni."
"That is appropriate," admitted Star, even though the idea of banishing anyone from their homeland was a cruel one for her. "I think Marco and I can find her a good home on earth. My father too. He will not leave her even if they have an argument."
"Where is Moon anyway?"
"In the Dungeon," said Star. "The other members of the court demanded it, especially Globgor. Dad didn't protest. In fact, he tried to be imprisoned alongside her as an conspirator, but we quickly figured out that he had no idea what she was doing, so he is free."
"Is River trying to get into prison?"
Star nodded. "He's trying to get incarcerated for all kinds of crimes, but he has yet to do anything serious. Mostly Graffiti, but it is rather tasteful and won already a few art prizes."
"Really?"
"Yes, the artworld loves my dad's work."
Eclipsa tried to get up again, but still lacked the strength. Star helped her up and stabilized her body into a sitting position.
"Thank you Star. What about the Magic High Commission?"
"They're also awaiting trial," told Star. "Hekapoo and Sean surrendered peacefully. We had to beat up Rhombulus and Omnitraxus Prime. A lot." Star gave a devilish smile. "Not that Globgor, Marco, Buff Frog, Tom, Kelly and I minded."
"I understand well." She tried to keep a neutral expression but a hint of satisfaction at hearing that came through. "I will come up with something. I guess it is also time to replace all the senior members." Eclipsa's expression changed to one of serious consideration. "Is Reynaldo the Bald Pate still available? He would be a perfect candidate, and from the one time we talked since I was uncrystallized, I knew he opposed my capture and stealing Meteora's birthright. Otherwise, I think the majority of seats should be taken by mortals. Life-long employment with important political positions is a bad idea, especially with immortal beings."
"So… do we crystallize the old MHC members, or…"
"I have a better idea, but I will tell you the details later. For Hekapoo and Sean, I think community service will suffice."
"So, you mean you forgive Hekapoo?"
"Of course not. I can't forgive her yet for separating my family, but I am not a cruel tyrant who punishes everyone who's wronged me with the same level of cruelty. I just think she is willingly trying to change her ways, and maybe 200 years of helping mewmans, monsters and the other ethnicities alike will do her some good. Centuries of apathy and debauchery are what made Glossaryck the negligent parent and mentor he is."
Somewhere else, Glossaryck was in a bathtub eating chocolates while he could see through a window Marco running away from some pig-goats. He just shrugged at the sight and continued eating chocolates.
"It will be hard to talk to my dad in person without interacting with my mom. The two are always very close. Heck, despite now knowing well what she did, dad is still very dependent on my mom. I guess we will have to go on adventuring trips on our own since mom isn't fond of those activities."
Eclipsa's maternal instincts kicked in hard with how sad Star looked, though she expected to only feel this way when Meteora became a teenager.
"Star I… Know how you feel. You can live in the monster palace as long as you want. You have done so much for me, I doubt I can ever fully repay you, but I will try."
Star shook her head. "I don't deserve it. My family took the throne from your daughter and-"
Touching Star's hand, Eclipsa interrupted her via a warm and soft voice: "No, your family was not at fault. Even Festivia the Fun had been tricked, and not just her, but every succeeding Queen as well. I do not hate your family; none of you had any idea about what really happened. You took on more responsibility than most people in both Butterfly Lines through not only working hard on ending racism, but also giving me back the throne that was rightfully mine and making Meteora the Heiress she was meant to be."
"Eclipsa…" said Star gently, not knowing what else to say.
Eclipsa felt a lot closer to Star right now so she continued: "The day I was forced to end the life of the tragic beast my daughter became was also a day where I was feeling no joy as you gave me back the royal magic wand alongside the kingdom." Eclipsa's voice became more gloom. "All I saw was a weapon that had the "Spell with no Name" in it, a spell powerful enough to end my life for good."
Star was shocked, but only for a second. What she heard made sense, very tragic sense.
"I would have ended it. I couldn't have returned to Globgor and tell him that I killed our daughter for whatever reason; I couldn't bear to tell him, I didn't want him to learn that his daughter was still alive, just to be killed by his wife. If Meteora hadn't been reborn seconds later as a baby, there would have been no reason for me to continue."
Star was still speechless. She knew that those revelations were a lot to unload for Eclipsa, so she didn't try to say anything, she only listened. Instead of using words she just touched with her free hand the arm of Eclipsa and the friendly queen gave another warm smile in response.
"I trust you more than anyone else in this age, in this kingdom and these lands, aside from Globgor and Meteora," Eclipsa said truthfully. "Maybe it is pretentious to say this, but I see you as my best friend, Star Butterfly the Underestimated."
Star's felt so much warmth from Eclipsa's words, she wanted to cry.
"Really?"
"I am serious. I am not very good at having friends… mewman friends that is, and while Globgor is a good lover and husband, it isn't the same as just being chums, pals, amigos, compadres-"
"People would love you more if they knew how cool you are! You are so cool; I wish you were my mom!"
The heartwarming moment got awkward. Both women were silent for a few seconds before continuing their talk.
"O-of course, you are like a mom friend… hehe…"
"Oh yeah…"
Star sighed.
"I really wish you were my mom."
"We can't choose who our parents are, but we can choose who our family is and you are part of my family, Star. You will always have a home with us."
Star was already crying tears of happiness, and she immediately hugged Eclipsa, surprising the monarch. Eclipsa didn't expect that, but she calmly and slowly hugged back the teenager who was hugging her. Star remembered how it felt to be hugged by her own mother and cried even more, because of the feeling of loss; Eclipsa, on the other hand, realized how lonely Meteora must had felt without being hugged like this for so long and she wanted to remind her reborn daughter that she loved her very much. There was too much happening in both women's minds, but regardless they were now in the present, sharing a tender moment.
"Why did mommy do all this?" cried Star in anguish. "Why did she trust a cabal of evil racists? Why did she thought your regime would be so terrible that an uprising was the only solution? Why, WHY?!"
Eclipsa, not knowing what to say, hugged Star even tighter and pulled her closer to her body. Stroking through her golden hair, Eclipsa noticed how voluminous, full and smooth it was. She really needed to ask Star how she was tending her hair.
She then internally berated herself and continued to calm Star.
"I don't want to see her again, I don't want to talk to her again, I don't even want to think about mother ever again!" shouted Star in anger. "I hate her… I never thought I would say this seriously but I truly hate her!"
Eclipsa still said nothing, she just continued to embrace and caress Star. She was tearing up herself, feeling sad for Star and thinking about her own mother but she wiped the tears away quickly, it was not her round to cry.
"No, I… I am disappointed of her," tried Star to change her opinion, sounding desperate and confused. "No, I hate her. No, I… I don't know. I just don't know. Why can't it be in the past again as we just had our usual arguments?" Star sunk deeper into Eclipsa's chest, her tears rolling onto Eclipsa's clothes. "I want my old mommy back, why can't I have my old mommy back?"
"I asked the same myself once," said Eclipsa full of sympathy. "But there is still hope for your mother, mine had taken the path of hatred, unable to ever leave it again."
"Both our mothers are idiots!" screeched the blonde mage in anger and sadness. "Idiots who are unable to see the wisdom other people have, only think their way can be the only right one, never learning from their mistakes, never change their ways. Stubborn stupid skunks who rather die than to be better. Their way or no way. IDIOTS!"
Eclipsa was still listening, caressing, holding, and embracing the young teenager who was wiser than both their mothers put together.
"I want to hurt her back. I want to tell her about how you got Toffee to assassinate Solaria!" proclaimed Star angrily. "That would hit her deep."
"I was told how her mother Comet the Chef, died," said Eclipsa. "It would indeed hit her hard to know the truth of Solaria's demise."
Star sighed, starting to calm down. "But I will not… For your sake Eclipsa, otherwise she does something stupid again. Also, I don't think that I want to hurt her that much."
The true slayer of Toffee sunk down, resting her head in Eclipsa's lap and rolling herself towards the Queen's body like a kitten. "I don't want to be so angry… Or sad."
"It is better to deal with your emotions now instead of bottling them up," said Eclipsa, petting Star like a kitten. "I think your mother made that mistake as well… What I want to say is that all your emotions are valid and you can talk with me about all of them."
They stayed in that position for a little while until Star stopped crying.
"I love you Eclipsa."
"I love you too. In a platonic way of course. Otherwise, it would be very confusing."
"I know."
A few second later, a knock was heard at the door.
"Can I come in?" said Globgor
"You can come in, sweetheart."
The voice of Eclipsa made Globgor's heart beat fast and he opened the door even faster. He then walked towards his wife as fast as he could with the help of his crutches. Star took that as her cue to give the two lovers some privacy and walked out. Before closing the door, she looked over to Eclipsa, and the queen smiled at her. She wasn't Star's mom, but she was part of her family, and Star was happy with that.
Far away from the Monster Temple, in a scary looking bog, an injured Mina Loveberry was barely able to walk, moving towards the place where the MHC went to recharge their magic. She was desperate.
"I can't… die… today…"
She was motivated by hatred and madness and was willing to do anything to fight her enemies again.
"I… can't…"
She wanted to kill all of them. Not only the monsters and the Queen of Darkness, but also Star Butterfly and her friends. She was planning to steal some magical dimensional scissors to enter Earth, the Underworld, the kingdom of the Ponyheads and that strange world with hairy people, and then she'd kill all the friends of Star and their families. And if anyone opposed Mina, she would kill them all, until there was no one else to challenge her. Her racism had become misanthropy, meaning not even mewmans mattered to her anymore. The only true good mewman in her eyes was Solaria, and she was long dead.
"I-"
Mina was hit in the head hard and fell to the ground.
"Remember me?"
Mina was barely able to see who hit her, but once the blurriness caused by the surprise attack went away, she saw the face of her attacker. It was that monster Star had chosen as a spymaster.
"If you had been found by the royal guard, you would have been crystallized for centuries. Those are the laws of Mewni."
Yvgeny Bulgolyubov was holding an ax.
"Monster law is simpler: we avenge our loved ones, and you threatened my children."
"Come on, Star," protested Rhombulus. "A little insurrection can't be that bad."
"Thousands of monsters almost died," countered Star. "You have to be punished for aiding this rebellion."
"And you make Reynaldo part of the MHC again?" reacted Omnitraxus Prime negatively to the news. "He is a boring rhymer."
Reynaldo had never been so happy before.
"Promoted again into the Commission
I will fulfill my duty, that is my Mission."
"See?!"
"Competent and reasonable," was the opinion of Eclipsa. "The new MHC will have thirteen members. They will be balanced by different political views and the Tie-Breaker if needed, number 13 will be very boring, absolute, moderate, unbiased and neutral, but also capable of think everything through several times before deciding what should happen. They will also have limited terms."
"Come on guys, this is better than magic being destroyed," said Hekapoo. "I wouldn't have cared, I was sick of living forever anyway, but it'd probably be better if the realm of magic wasn't destroyed. I fear I did not think about the full implications of destroying an element that was always there with several beings and entire universes depending on it."
The Monster Temple was in the process of being rebuilt, with the throne room already finished to a large degree because the artisans had the time, they took the chance to renovate the entire building. On the thrones sat Eclipsa, Globgor (properly dressed instead of just a Speedo) and Meteora was in a crib. She was playing with her rattle and throwing wooden blocks after the MHC.
"I taught her that," Marco told to Janna, who both sat in attendance. "I really had enough of her hating me for things I was in the right. So, I got her to concentrate her hate on people she should actually have a grudge with."
"That worked?" asked Janna in surprise.
"I just had to tell her true history a few times," explained Marco. "That, and convincing her that me causing the rebellion in St. Olga's was orchestrated by Shastacan and the MHC. That I was just a clueless puppet."
"Finally, you are getting better at manipulation," congratulated Janna. "But not as good as I. Now sleep."
Janna snapped with her fingers and instead she felt asleep.
"I also borrowed a reflect protection specially made to protect against mind-manipulation from Star," Marco added with a satisfied smirk.
Rhombulus, Omnitraxus Prime, Hekapoo, Sean and Moon the Undaunted were placed before the thrones while sitting on wooden chairs, chained to the ground with rare magic suppressing shackles. Omnitraxus and Rhombolus were angry and unruly, Hekapoo was relaxed, Sean was unreadable and Moon looked depressed.
"My honor you cool dudette, my clients are so totalz not guilty," Ponyhead happily opened with her plea. She was the only one willing to defend these five, and even then, it was only because it meant views for her videos. "I have so many good arguments, they will be free before sundown to party!"
"Ponyhead, be quiet! Eclipsa opens the trial, the prosecutor speaks his part and then you get to your opening statements," explained Star from the side.
"Okay, but be fast, especially you, Ludo."
Much to the surprise of everyone, Ludo had studied mewman law at some point and was even willing to work for Eclipsa as a state prosecutor as long as he got a pardon for all the property sharks his spider and eagle have eaten on his orders since his return as the ruler of castle Avarius.
"I will be as fast as I want to be, Ms. Ponyhead," answered Ludo calmly.
Eclipsa arose. She whispered to Globgor: "I am not sure I should be the judge here but so is the law. I will probably change this law later to install independent judges who are not personally connected to any cases."
"A good idea, Darkest Star," whispered Globgor back. "But now open the trial."
Eclipsa breathed heavily in and out. Despite getting rid of her greatest enemies she ever had, this was no fun for her. She was not somebody reveling in revenge.
"Let's get this over with." said Eclipsa.
To everybody's surprise, Ludo was a very competent prosecutor, exposing the crimes of each conspirator, citing examples of similar cases, interrogating all witnesses and exposing physical evidence. He would be a decent prosecutor in a secular and democratic court if not for his habit of chewing tables and imitating a famous female videogame prosecutor.
"Where were you during the battle at the Monster Temple?! Answer me!"
And to nobody's surprise, Ponyhead was quickly proving herself to be the most incompetent lawyer in the history of Mewni's legal system. She didn't learn anything from that time she was a suspected criminal at a court case, and during the trial, Marco was smiling happily.
"So like, after my clients were done with their conspiracy meeting… What was I talking about again? Ah, yes, my girl Heka was wearing a dress that was the bee's knees and I think she said something about not liking where that plan was going, so she left like a boss. Oh yeah!"
Hekapoo realized now her sentence would get worse, even with exonerating statements.
"After hearing both sides I have my verdict," said Eclipsa. "This isn't something that is easy for me, but I believe it's the right thing to do and I am being fair with what I decided."
"Let me kill the horse!" Shouted Rhombulus while trying to reach Ponyhead to bite her with his snake hands, but he was stopped by the magical shackles.
The other two former MHC members were ashamed of the behavior of the idiots of the group, and Sean was still an enigma. Moon on the other hand was bracing herself for the sentence.
"This isn't so bad." said Hekapoo while planting some crops on the ground. "How many more of these do we have to plant?"
"19,999,925." responded Sean.
Hekapoo had been sentenced to 200 years of community service, and Sean just 10 because of his limited life span. The two would help with reconstruction labors and creating crop fields to feed the population of both mewmans and monsters. Also, while Hekapoo was allowed to use her superhuman speed, she couldn't use her scissors, which had been confiscated and put into a high security room. Meanwhile, Sean wasn't allowed to work in any kitchen.
Meanwhile the fates of Omnitraxus Prime and Rhombolus were a lot less lenient. They were in an alternate dimension, a dimension that looked like a gigantic surreal office complex spanning thousands of kilometers. Doors that had twisted forms, file cabinets as high as skyscrapers and stairwells forming a chaotic complex mass which reached into the walls, the ceilings and deep into the earth. The people working there were truly strange things, fleshly-fluid blue masses with more arms than hands, seven eyes on seven stalks and mouths in the center of the mass. These beings did their jobs diligently, working on applications, passports and many other kinds of paperwork. They were the Bureaucratsonians, the best bureaucrats in the multiverse, though not all of them had that job. Many other Bureaucratsonians worked as extreme athletes.
"So, we just have to get the application 4D-32/A-Gamma filled and submitted, and our sentence is served?" asked Rhombolus his friend Onmitraxus Prime.
"That's how it was explained to us, and it is written (Replaced "standing" with "written") on this paper," said Omnitraxus Prime, holding said paper. "There's also something written about an assistant who will help us navigate through the world of A-Firty-Aight."
Seconds later crashing from below through the ground came a being clad in a blue robe that hid his face in shadows. She had a gigantic hat on her head and bowed before the two.
"Greetings, disgraced former members of the MHC and sons of Sir Glossaryck of Terms," the newcomer greeted the two convicts in a bombastic and arrogant manner. "I, Sato Alorius, am a certified master of navigating the labyrinthian ways of A-Firty-Aight. I am one of the greatest warriors who ever traversed this dimension."
"Very nice," commented Rhombulus. "So how-"
"I, Sato Alorius, will lead you two through the halls of Hexadol and the Stairwell of Starson. We will be forced to fight many fierce enemies and ghastly beasts, but I, Sato Alorius, will bring you towards your destination."
"We just have to fill out application 4D-32/A-Gamma-" Omnitraxus tried to explain, but he got interrupted by Sato as well.
"I, Sato Alorius, will lead you towards room 6205145-B. It will take us fifty years, but I, Sato Alorius, will ensure your survival."
"FIFTY YEARS?!" the two cried in shock. "But then we get the application we need, right?"
"I, Sato Alorius, have to inform you both that this will only get us to the place where we could get an application that may give us permission to ask for application 4D-32/A-Gamma," explained the arrogant woman, who was already unknowingly starting to annoy the two. "But I, Sato Alorius, swear to you that I will help you on this endeavor and entertain you with my glorious tales of battles and victories, like my legendary five-year long filling out of application 6-2/BC:1. An application that, by the way, is not even a fraction of the length of application 4D-32/A-Gamma."
The two beings made of magic lost all color they had on their faces.
"I, Sato Alorius, know how two must feel, because I, Sato Alorius, has the most compassionate soul in this dimension and she-" (I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit confused as to whatever Sato is meant to be Non-Binary or Gender-Fluid. If it's the former, that type of person sticks to the pronouns they/them. Then again, until a few years ago, I thought Gender and Sex (and I don't mean the Bees and Birds type) meant the same thing, so…)
Sato was interrupted by Rhombolus and Omnitraxus shouting a synchronized scream of total despair that was so intense, it was heard through thousands of dimensions and alternate universes.
It was Moon Butterfly who many thought got the least punished, but she actually got a very painful punishment. She was banished to Earth and given a pension to live wherever she wanted. She chose to live in a nice cabin in New Mexico, where she knew River would be happy hiking the mountains and doing other activities while she could take a much-needed rest and read some of the books she hadn't finished reading yet. It was true that that didn't seem like a punishment. What was a punishment were the conditions of Moon's banishment:
1) She couldn't return to Mewni, or she would be imprisoned for years.
2) She wasn't allowed to own magical weapons, and if it was discovered she had such a kind of a weapon, she would lose her pension.
3) She wasn't allowed to hold power on Earth, nor participate in politics, and breaking that condition could add new penalties.
There was a fourth condition not spoken at court, but rather one that Eclipsa told her personally: Star didn't want to see her until she decided to forgive her, and Star was really angry over what she did. That caused Moon to be in a state of pain she only had felt when her mother was killed.
"Honey, I will go and get us some dinner." said River before going outside.
"Take care, sweetie."
Moon sat on her bed and began unpacking some of her personal stuff from a cardboard box. Inside, she found an old scrapbook. As she opened it, she beheld a tattered piece of paper with a drawing made by Star of her fighting monsters and riding a war unicorn.
"My little girl…"
Moon cried over the drawing, covering her face with her hands. She had ruined everything and she knew it.
"I am sorry! I am sorry!"
"Do you feel good Star?" asked Eclipsa.
"Yes, I do," said Star truthfully. "I feel good. The burden, the pressure, the emotional distress, it's all gone… I hate to say it, but Ponyhead was never the right person to talk about all this stuff."
"What about Marco?"
"He has a good mother, he doesn't have the same experience I had with a bad one," explained Star. "I am happy he didn't have a mother who never learned from her mistakes, or one who was like that guy with the very short black mustache."
"The comparison is apt," agreed Eclipsa. "So apt…" (What does Snidely Whiplash have to do wi- oh, they're talking about Shastacan. Silly me XD)
"Am I disturbing you two?" Globgor asked his wife and the former Princess while sitting on his own throne.
The blonde and the green haired female were together on Eclipsa's Throne. Eclipsa sat on it like usual, but Star was sitting on her lap and snuggling into the Queen's chest.
"No, but are we disturbing you?" asked Eclipsa.
"You two seem so close, it makes me wonder," admitted Globgor with a curious expression. "I get you are friends, but this looks a bit like… Ehm…"
"Don't worry, I am not here to woo the Queen of Darkness," promised Star with a hand gesture. "We are friends over having terrible mothers and doing the responsible thing."
"Also cuddling, it is really fun to cuddle Star," explained Eclipsa with a happy smile. "She is so soft, her hair is so smooth and she lets out a very beautiful laugh whenever I tickle her sides."
"You appear kinda like lovers to be honest," was Globgors opinion on this. "But maybe I am a bit paranoid… I don't know, this is so unusual."
"Eclipsa said we should be honest about our new relationship before you," explained Star, leaning against Eclipsa's chest. "I am her best friend."
"What about Ponyhead?"
"She is still her best friend," said Eclipsa truthfully. "She already explained that to me."
"Why?"
"Why?" repeated Star, what Globgor said. "That's what they all asked me. Why her... Why Ponyhead? Why, of all beings on Mewni, did I decide to make my best friend the one whose record of aggression, don't thinking about others, do stupid things and acting like an asshole is legend? Because she was the first one who treated me outside of my family like a normal person, what's why!"
"That… sounds reasonable," said Globgor. "Mostly."
Star sunk back into Eclipsa's arms, the argument having been settled.
"Sorry to interrupt this heartwarming scene but there are still things to address," said a Mewman from a long line of mewmans, and not so many monsters in the throne room who want to talk about different issues with the kingdom.
"Shouldn't you do this in private?" asked a monster. "This looks like something very private."
"I want to show that as a queen, I am not afraid of showing my feelings," Eclipsa proclaimed while stroking Star's hair. "That I will work through my issues for the betterment of my people, and that I care about my friends."
Monsters and Mewmans had to clap in response, they didn't know what to do else.
"It looks cuter than the one time River and Moon did the same but this looks more dignified," whispered one mewman to a monster.
As time went by, there were some much needed reforms implemented in the government of Mewni, and the 13 members of the new Magic High Commission began working for the improvement of not only Mewni, but also the other kingdoms and associated governments, without intervening in the sovereignty of each government. Marco compared this to the United Nations, but Tom thought that name was too simple, suggesting a cooler name that included words like alliance, or coalition. When Ponyhead suggested Alliance of Collationed Dudes, she was kicked out of the committee discussion for names.
Another important change was when Star was chosen by Eclipsa to be the Chancellor of Mewni, a charge and position that gave her executive powers and she used those powers to do the most important work in her career as a politician (after fighting racism): the tax reform. Star and 10 people working under her leadership spent months working on such a plan that would change the economic structure of Mewni and improve the quality of life of all its citizens. This task was difficult and left many of Star's assistants tired, sick or mad, but she kept writing as if she was running out of time, until she finished what many legislators had thought to be impossible. She walked to Eclipsa's throne with her dress ruined by stains of energy drinks and cheese snacks, and holding in her hands was a 2.537 page manuscript detailing the plans of this legendary tax reform. Implementing the reform was difficult, and Star had to use the help of every ally and friend she has made to have her reform be accepted by the new legislative authorities elected by the common folk and the aristocrats, even requiring some shady tricks Janna taught her. When the votes were counted, Star's reform won by a landslide, and she was finally able to celebrate her victory.
"This is the best day of my life!"
"We became a couple officially a week ago."
"This is the best day of my political life! Don't ruin the moment, Marco!"
Star pulled Marco for a very violent (but still consensual) kiss and then threw him towards her other friends before jumping with her fists raised up in the air.
"This is not like I thought it would end," commented Tom, looking at Star who was hanging in the air as if she had been frozen. "What is she doing?"
"I think she wants to end this with a freeze frame," theorized Marco, getting back up on his legs. "A nice little magic spell, but I have the feeling she wants to distract us from something with that."
"I am thinking about mother again," admitted Star as she freed her head out of the freeze frame.
"Do you want to talk?" asked Marco. "I-"
"No, sorry, but thank you Marco," she rejected Marco's offer softly while kissing him on the cheek. "I have to talk about this to somebody in particular."
"You may need a psychologist if that isn't going better," advised Tom. "I still see my warlock-psychologists after all. It is still hard to get rid of my demons, but better than doing nothing against them."
"Thank you for your compassion friends, but this is something I have to do with her alone for now."
She walked away, her friends looking after her, worried yet still happy about how well everything was going in general, but also for Star. Since Eclipsa awoke from her coma, the former Princess was getting better and better and her friends were optimistic that she would continue to do so. Ponyhead, on the other hand, didn't notice and was too selfish to care.
"My queen, I am here," said Star as she reached Eclipsa at their usual place. "The Tax Reform is an unmitigated success."
Sitting on a blanket on the top plateau of the monster temple was Eclipsa, enjoying the view like she had done often, sometimes alone, sometimes with other people. She smiled upon hearing the news.
"Good to know. I knew you could do it," said Eclipsa in an encouraging and congratulating manner. "I have no idea about tax law. I already struggled over it during my first reign. I think I accidentally taxed everyone for wearing clothes for a short time. It was called the time of "clothes or money", and it was wild."
The young Chancellor couldn't help but chuckle. "I think I was taught about that in history class."
She sat down beside the person with the cool hat. "Dad called today. He was "hypothetically" asking how to help somebody who is depressed."
"How bad is that "hypothetical" depression?"
"Very bad," revealed Star with a sigh. "Dad doesn't want to bother me directly, he probably thinks if I was to visit them at their new home, Moon might get better. But I don't want to see her yet… This is my punishment for her, and it has to stick for a longer time to be effective."
"How long will this punishment last?" asked Eclipsa.
Star shrugged with the shoulders. "I don't know. All I know is that this penalty can't end in the near future."
Eclipsa offered her shoulder and Star leaned her head against the body part in question. "Star, be hopeful: Your mother isn't a lost cause like my mother was. You can fix things with her, but only if she is willing to fix her own flaws first."
"How do I figure out if she's changed?" wondered Star.
"You will see," said Eclipsa. "Most importantly is to see if she tries to get her will all the time and get herself redeemed, even if her range and capacity is limited now."
"I would be okay if she tried anything else in her life," explained Star. "Anything, just not any politics anymore."
"People talk," changed Eclipsa the topic. "They already gave us a shipping name. Stalipsa."
Star chuckled. "We could tell them a thousand times otherwise, but they would not stop believing that Stalipsa is a canon." She then decided to change the position of her head, letting it roll from Eclipsa's shoulder down onto her lap.
"Personally, I am more worried about a ship called "Marclipsa," told Eclipsa with a shudder and she felt how Star was also shuddering. "They even drew art about it."
"He is underage… I think," said Star, making an expression of deep disgust. "The pictures I saw on compact mirror sites were frankly freaking me out."
"Me too," said Eclipsa in a serious tone, patting Star's head. "I don't even think that I interacted that much with Marco, but… I think I have to implement a few new laws in regards of Fanart with underage characters in certain situations."
Star closed her eyes and snuggled closer to Eclipsa. "Thank you for being there for me."
"Anything for a friend," said Eclipsa, stroking through Star's hair.
They enjoyed their togetherness in this other dimension.
Hatoralo: "I think the relationship of Star and Eclipsa is fascinating and could have been even better in the show.
godlessAdversary: "I agree, and the ending of this animated show could have been better. Everything that happened about Moon helping Mina was stupid."
Hatoralo: "I hope you like this ending for Star vs The Forces of Evil, dear readers."
godlessAdversary: "We wrote a lot of fluff and no destruction of magic stuff."
Hatoralo: "And the fusion of Earth and Mewni is a mess! That would cause so many problems!"
godlessAdversary: "And if magic is destroyed, doesn't that mean many magical beings would die? The Magic High Commission died!"
Hatoralo: "The beautiful picture that illustrates the scene of Star & Eclipsa embracing and used as the cover for this tale was drawn by godlessAdversary:"

And a special bonus, a little poem by our proof-reader ultrablud2 about the controversial final Episode "Cleaved".
Cleaved Poem
by
ultrablud2
"Daron Nefcy and her crew made a show that was fun to us all
But when it was time to wrap things up, that's when they dropped the ball"
What was supposed to be a high note
Ends up causing my brain to go to a certain AVGN quote
A love-sick Star wants to bring magic to an end
Because hormones plus recklessness equals a lousy friend
Not helping matters is encouragement from Glossaryck
AKA, the show's biggest dick
Hekapoo's also lending a hand
Because the magic dimension is a hard-to-reach land
Tom's there, as a brainwashed slave who is ruthless
Too bad that plot point's useless
Marco gets stabbed, but nothing comes from it? Lame
A prime example of your story-driven show having no endgame
Like Mina the Maniac getting scot-free
Makes my head want to hit a tree
With help from her "ancestors", Stat manages to destroy magic
Cause this is written by people who dismiss logic
Yet despite the Magical Genocide, some magical people still remain
Why? It's Magic, no need to explain.
And just when things can't get any worse
Earth and Mewni merge, leading my mouth to curse
I find myself desiring to re-watch the show every now and then
But this is too stupid to go through again
For these reasons and many more, Cleaved's the second worst series finale I've ever seen
To its credit, at least it's not a long-ass potshot at Charlie Sheen
