Chapter 1

"Ugh, my feet hurt. Kazuma-san, please carry me. A goddess shouldn't be forced to walk for more than thirty minutes. In fact, you should all be carrying me on a throne right now."

The useless goddess Aqua keeps complaining about her sore feet, when she hasn't even done anything in combat yet.

"These monsters are savage! They ruthlessly surround a hopeless maiden like me and attack all at once. How dishonorable! Kazuma, next time you sense monsters ahead, don't tell me. I want to be surprised by their ambush."

Darkness, who's supposed to be our vanguard, keeps saying contradictory things. Furthermore, she has a string of drool coming out of her mouth, as she talks about her depraved fantasies.

"Kazuma, if I can't use my Explosion magic, then you should give me your bow. I want to try firing some arrows."

I swat Megumin's hands away as she attempts to snatch my bow. I'm the only one here actually doing work and killing monsters, since everyone else is incapable of doing so. Megumin can't use Explosion magic in a dungeon, pretty much rendering her useless. Aqua's offensive magic is only useful against undead and demons. Darkness is Darkness.

"Can't you all just shut up?! I'm trying to focus on sensing enemies and you're all yapping at me! What if something really dangerous shows up?!"

"...Haven't you been listening, Kazuma? I told you that I want the next group of monsters to ambush and gang up on me."

"What about the rest of us?! Not all of us want to be ravished by some monsters! We're not all hopeless nutcases like you!"

"Kazuma, you're more savage than any monster! Please, insult me more!"

I'm about to blow up and berate this useless party of mine, but that's when I sense something with Enemy Detection.

Before I can warn everyone, a transparent tentacle comes out and grabs Darkness by the ankle. It pulls her upside down, dangling her in mid-air.

As I'm yelling, another tendril comes out and grabs Aqua, pulling her up beside Darkness.

Aqua seems to be reliving a traumatic memory, as she's grappled by a tendril.

"Kazuma, in this scenario, I'm probably next. Please give me permission to use Explosion magic to blow this thing up if it grabs me."

Megumin is aware that she's the next one to go up. Of course, as a pretty girl, the tentacle will be naturally drawn to her.

"Under no circumstances will you be using Explosion magic. You'll kill us all!"

Megumin's about to say something, but a tentacle shoots up and grabs her.

Now, all three girls in my party are captured by these tentacles.

I draw my partner with the weird name, Chunchunmaru, and move to cut the tentacles. Before I do so, however, I get an idea.

Ever since I came to this world, these girls have been nothing but a constant pain in the ass.

I'm a reincarnated hero, so it's natural to think that these girls would be falling in love with me by now, but I can count the number of fanservice scenes I've had with them with only one hand.

Aqua's quick to recover as she dashes forward, even though she was bawling and hunched up earlier.

We catch up with Aqua and see a small mountain of gold. Sitting atop the mountain is a treasure box.

"We don't usually get real treasure… We sure are lucky today!"

Megumin smiles as she happily runs to join Aqua in admiring the treasure.

"...The real treasure is the trauma we received along the way."

I ignore Darkness and join the others.

The gold is nice, but the treasure box is what catches my interest. I use the Lockpicking Thief skill to get rid of the large padlock on the chest. I lick my lips while I open the box.

...There's 7 orange balls inside. They look kind of familiar.

"I'm glad we found treasure, but the way you treat us is horrible, Kazuma."

Megumin pouts as she takes out a ruby and admires its reflection. It matches with the color of her eyes, which are glowing in excitement right now.

"You said it, Megumin! This scumbag should learn to respect women! I wish you'd try walking a mile in our shoes!"

As soon as she says the word 'wish', the balls start glowing.

"I know, right? If Kazuma is a girl like us, he'll understand how horrible that experience was."

I wake up on a bed. Since I was previously in a dungeon, inhaling a dangerous amount of smoke, the shift in location is surprising, to say the least.

I look around at my surroundings. I don't recognize it. The room is clean and tidy and the bed I'm lying on has a canopy over it.

I look at the window sill, where the sunlight shines through the fine curtains. Vibrant potted flowers are arranged on the window sill, the light spilling around their shape. There's a large dresser in the room. I get up from the bed and open the dresser. Inside, I find beautiful dresses for different kinds of occasions.

"..."

I walk into the bathroom and find a mirror. After taking a nervous breath, I look at my reflection.

Instead of black hair and eyes, I see brown hair and green eyes. I have western features now instead of my Japanese ones. My hair is also way longer than I've ever had it and I don't remember being this small and slender.

Not to mention, I apparently have breasts now. They're not very big, just slightly bigger than Megumin's, but they're still undoubtedly breasts. They're hiding underneath a pink pajama top with frills.

"Have you already forgotten? They've begun their long journey to other countries to sell the family's product. I'm sorry, being the young daughter of merchants must be tough, especially since your parents miss out on important events like your first day in the academy, Kazuko-sama."

The maid gives me an apologetic smile.

I see, so the setting is that I'm the daughter of wealthy merchants. I guessed incorrectly that Kazuko is some kind of nobility, but then again, she doesn't have blonde hair and eyes, which is the telltale sign of nobility in this country, assuming I'm still in Belzerg.

I eat my breakfast, while getting all the information I can out of the maid. I ask her about this academy she keeps mentioning.

You will also see the children of wealthy merchant families there, and even the children of famous adventurers. The objective of the academy is to train the future heroes and nobles of Belzerg to increase the quality of the next generation. Kazuko-sama, you will be educated in academic fields as well as in combat skills. The concept was borrowed from the Crimson Demon's idea of a Magic School. In order to reward the Crimson Demons for their innovative idea, Crimson Demons who pass the entry exam are awarded a full-ride scholarship, their tuition being paid in full."

I do know that Crimson Demons have a Magic School, since Megumin and Yunyun were once classmates, along with Arue and the others. However, this Belzerg Royal Academy is exclusive to this strange new world I've found myself in. How interesting.

"Fufu… Remember, Kazuko-sama, studying is fine and all, but your real goal is to seduce a young man who has a noble title, so that the Satou family will inherit a minor noble title. Please do your best!"

It isn't surprising that as the heiress of a merchant family, I'll be sent to an academy full of nobility in the hopes that I'll hook up with one of them.

The idea of being married off to some guy scares me. I try not to think about that for now.

After breakfast, the maid leads me to a horse drawn carriage waiting outside of the Satou estate.

He glares at me before walking away. The girls chase after him.

I watch him go, trying to make sense of what just happened.

A boy as tall and handsome as Aqua comes by, but this time he has blond hair, tied back into a short ponytail.

Same with Aqua, even as a guy, I can tell that this is Darkness.

He blushes and gives a weak smile. Once again, I find my heart beating.
