Chapter 65: He Who is Many

Asulmagus turned to face Ghidorah and roared to the skies, catching his foe's attention.

"Ghidorah!" roared Asulmagus.

The hydra's six eyes fixed on him, and all three heads grinned cruelly.

"Well, what have we here?" sneered the left head.

"It seems like we've found what we're looking for," continued the right head.

"You are the one called Asulmagus, correct?" finished the middle head.

"That I am," replied Asulmagus, "and you are not welcome here!"

"Ah, we understand," sighed left head.

"Your mind has been twisted by the 'protectors' of this world," said right head.

"Foolish of you to deny your true king," said middle head, "you are alone here! Our servants are keeping the others fools busy".

"You are no king of mine," snarled Asulmagus, "nor are you to any who reside on this world!"

"That's where you're wrong, young one" said left head.

"All will bow to our glory," said right head.

"Or be crushed beneath our might!" said middle head.

"We offer you a choice," said left.

"Join us, and you can rule any world you desire," said right.

"Or perish by your refusal!" roared middle.

Asulmagus felt his core heating up, and glared at Ghidorah with greater intensity.

"Never," roared Asulmagus, "I will never side with you!"

"We were hoping you'd say that," said right.

"All the better to show you our true strength," said left.

"You are nothing before us, whelp," said middle.

All three heads began arcing with power, and spat out bolts of lightning. Asulmagus deftly sidestepped the attack, and countered with his own Nova Breath. Ghidorah leapt towards him, and snapped at Asulmagus with their maws. He clawed and kicked to force his foe back, only to be bashed by both of Ghidorah's tails, throwing him back instead. As he regained his footing, he weighed his options.

Asulmagus knew he was most definitely outmatched. Ghidorah was powerful, so much so that even Godzilla struggled with them at times, and he had many years of experience on him. He also knew Ghidorah was right: any other kaiju were likely too far away to aid him in time, so he was left with his own skills. He did have an advantage: his magic… not just his wizard magic, but the draconic magic as well. He thought for a moment longer, recalling one of his projects involving teleportation magic. If he couldn't defeat Ghidorah through sheer damage dealt, then he had to get rid of them through other means.

"Accio runestones!" called Asulmagus.

His bag of inscribed runestones flew to him, and he carefully levitated out the one he needed, and planted it into the ground. He began twisting his claws through the air drawing the runes to activate the effect. He'd managed to condense the spell as much as possible for now, but it would still require some time to cast. He made it to the somatic gesture of the second of the 21 runes when Ghidorah reached him again.

They clashed again, a flurry of teeth, claws and elemental destruction. It was during this time that the crowd began to gather, students and professors alike looking on in terror and amazement at the two titans clashing before them. Asulmagus struck again, charging his claws with a banishing charm and sending Ghidorah flying. Asulmagus quickly got back to work, continuing to draw the runes. He locked in his chosen target, not caring about the absolute destination so long as it was very, very far away. Halfway there now, draw energy from the ley lines that ran through the area, and bolstering it with his own power. Getting close now… just a few symbols left.

Unfortunately for all involved, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumblebore was present among the crowd, and ready to try out his new and improved spell. After a moment of thought he selected his target: this Ghidorah creature was strong, powerful beyond belief, with it under his thrall, he could capture Asulmagus and experiment with him to his heart's content before using both of them to defeat both the other kaiju and those who had wronged him. Dumbledore raised his wand, and fired.

"IMPERITUS INFINITUM!" shouted Dumbledore.

The spell lashed out, striking Gidorah's middle head. The hydra paused for a moment, shaking its head. a mpment later, Gjidorah's middle head was looking on, glassy-eyed.

"We must serve," droned the middle head.

"What are you talking about brother?" said left.

"Mind control, that tiny thing is trying to control us!" snarled right, "sorry for this, brother, but it's for your own good".

The other two heads looked at their middle sibling, before mutually bashing him with their snouts. The middle head blinked, shaking off the last dregs of the control. Ghidorah pivoted in place and six eyes, filled utterly with hate and boundless rage, locked onto the puny creature that dared to attempt to claim dominion over them. They had been angry before, now they were furious. As Ghidorah stalked towards this fool, the skies darkened and lightning forked down everywhere.

Asulmagus saw his foe's actions, having heard the spell, and quickly turned to face him again. As much as he'd like to see Albus get what he deserved, he also knew that Ghidorah wouldn't destroy only Dumbledore. He tackled the hydra, and redirected his foes attention once more.

"You," snarled Ghidorah's middle head, "why do you protect these puny creatures? They are nothing beneath our might. You could rule over them, crush them beneath your heel. Why do you waste your effort defending these creatures?"/

"Because this world is my home," replied Asulmagus, "and these human are therefore under my protection… well most of them. I saw what the bearded one tried to do to you, but he will be mine to deal with. He has wronged not only I, but all the world far worse than he has you. Know that our world will never fall under your tyrannical rule".

"That is what you think whelp," sneered Ghidorah's right head.

"We are destined to rule all we lay our eyes upon," continued the left.

"And this world has long been a place of interest to us, and you cannot stop us!" said the middle.

"But, if we can't have this world," snarled the right.

"…Then no one will have it!" continued the left.

"All will be destroyed by our fury!" said the middle.

"But first, you will perish!" They roared in unison.

Ghidorah charged forwards with surprising speed, putting Asulmagus on the defensive, and in the resulting chaotic clash of claws, fangs, and raw destructive energies Asulmagus ended up on the losing side, severely wounded, with his blood swiftly killing the grass around him. Ghidorah grinned, and prepared to strike the killing blow…

"No!" thought Asulmagus, this single word resonating across the minds of all present.

Ghidorah was blasted back by a shockwave of energy from their foe, and watched as Asulmagus slowly stood, but he was different. His wounds had stopped pouring blood, and instead glowed with raw energy. Across his hide and the membrane of his wings pulsed veins of orange light, and an aura of raw power surrounded him. Ghidorah knew well what had happened: Asulmagus had gone critical.

Asulmagus could feel every fiber of his being overflowing with energy. It was just this side of controllable. He could feel the raw power swirling about him like a maelstrom. He could almost taste the magic inherent in all things. Was this what Godzilla, Mothra and the others spoke of? Feeling the very pulse of the Earth itself? He knew this power… it had always been there, waiting for its time to be released, and now was the moment. He lifted his head to the sky and roared to the heavens.

Scrahhhrrrooooooooaaar!

He fixed his gaze upon his foe once more, ready to finish this.

As much as they were loath to admit it, Ghidorah knew Asulmagus was surprisingly powerful, despite his youth. Not only his physical might, but his power… they had reports from their servitors that it was called 'magic'. And now, any self-imposed limits or safeties had been removed. Ghidorah readied for the assault they knew was coming. Asulmagus leapt back into the fray, his attacks now supercharged with the energies he was channeling.

Ghidorah spat forth his lightning again, but instead of dodging, Asulmagus caught the attack and tore it apart with his claws. He continued to charge, slashing Ghidorah with his claws and fangs and pushing him back. Ghirdorah tried snap at him with their jaws, but Asulmagus parried the blow and continued the assault. Ghidorah took to the skies with Asulmagus close behind. He soon caught up, and Ghidorah realized that their foe was more agile and maneuverable than them. Each of Asulmagus' claws began arcing with energy, and beams of raw arcane energy lanced across the sky, striking Ghidorah from every direction, knocking them out of the sky. Asulmagus landed again and the air began to vibrate as his breath weapon began to charge up.

The energy looped back on itself as streams of raw elemental energy; fire, ice, lightning, wind, and earth all merging together into this attack. The blast, a strange mix of radioactive energy and pure magic launched towards Ghidorah. They leapt skywards once more and tried to evade, but the attack tracked them unerringly. They were struck, feeling the energies tear at them, freezing, burning, bludgeoning and lashing them all at the same time, and felt a bizarre tug on their entire being. As the attack dissipated, Ghidorah found themselves on the ground, chains of energy preventing their escape. Asulmagus stepped closer, and began twisting his claws through the air, drawing some sort of symbol. Suddenly a portal tore upon behind Ghidorah, and even as they clawed at the ground for purchase, it began to draw them in.
