Thalia

"You're not going to take the offer right?" Nico asked the four gods that had been quietly talking to each other for the past hour about the army knocking at the door. In the meantime, the teachers at this school had evacuated all the younger students from the school and into the mountains.

"We don't know what to do," Athena told the 90-year-old boy.

"We can't risk the life of Artemis," Apollo announced.

"On that, we can agree, but is there another way?" I agreed. I should have known they captured her after we were led into that trap. A part of me hoped she escaped, yet she had been their prisoner the entire time. How long had it been? At least a year since the Hunters were caught and we were imprisoned.

"We can, but it is still a risk and I don't believe it will work," Athena replied. "We know of your plan, but their army is much larger than your own. Even with the element of surprise, you will most likely face defeat."

"You can run, if you wish," Poseidon suggested. That's when I realised...they had already made up their mind. They were telling us to run, to not fight because we will lose. They weren't going to try and find a way to help, I should've expected that from the gods. After all, when have they ever done something that didn't benefit themselves?

"So your choice is made," I said my thoughts out loud.

"You always do this sort of thing on your own, I have full faith in you to survive this war for longer than most," my father told us, did he ever care about me? All that effort to turn me into a tree, only to leave me to die now.

"You know we are going to die, yet you have no care for it? Seriously Apollo after everything you went through, I'd thought you would have more appreciation for us demigods," I questioned their decisions.

"It's my twin sister, if it was your brother, your family would you not do the same?" Apollo asked.

"I guess I will never know because my brother died helping you," I spat out.

"Daughter, it may seem cruel to you, but in the larger picture, it is better for the human race if we survive this war. They are going to need hope, it is the only thing that keeps people alive," Zeus told us.

I refrained myself from releasing a bunch of harsh words at their decision but then I realised, this way Artemis would be safe. After everything she has done for me, maybe I should agree with this...but it isn't just me. Maybe if only I died for her, but it is the entire human race all for one god.

"If that is all, you can leave now," Percy told the gods, dismissing them as if he didn't care they could disintegrate him.

"Son, listen we wish there was another way," Poseidon pleaded with his son for forgiveness. He can't even forgive himself, the chance he would care for his father's words was unlikely.

"Perhaps there is another way..." Athena said in thought, looking towards the son of Poseidon then towards the other gods.

"What is it?" Hermione asked. The first time she had spoken directly towards a god. If she was nervous, her voice didn't show it.

"The terms of the agreement involved all the gods that are in power as of the time of the agreement. The gods currently in power, it said nothing about a god that will be in power in the future, after the agreement," she explained. Her gaze shifted towards Percy who refused to look into Athena's stormy eyes, "If the son of Poseidon would like, we can reoffer the gift of immortality. He could become a god."

Shock was the first thing that came to my mind, weaving its way through my thoughts. We all turned towards Percy, wondering what choice he will make. It felt like every person's life rested upon his shoulders on this choice. If we lose this battle, there was nothing to stop Kronos/Voldemort. That's when I remembered the prophecy from so many years ago.

And awaken the beast

Marching with the dusk

If he does what he must

Then all will be saved

If not, a world of destruction will rage

The beginning of the prophecy referred to the fight that began all of this. The choice referred to right here and now. Percy closed his eyes in thought as if feeling the weight of the decisions that was just placed on him. When he opened his eyes again he looked straight into Athena's eyes and I knew immediately what his choice was. He looked into her grey eyes and all he could see was Annabeth.

"No," he answered. He wanted to die, he did not want to live forever. No amount of persuasion could change his mind, at least not now.

"Why don't we just give it to someone else?" Hermione asked.

"You can't just hand immortality out to anyone, only those worthy of it. They have to live forever by our side, also Percy is a strong demigod, so he would be an even stronger god," Zeus attempts to explain himself to the girl.

"Why don't you give it to Nico or Thalia, they are powerful?" She kept pressuring the god.

"Thalia is already a Hunter, she can not obtain this. We would need an entire council meeting to discuss whether Nico is suitable, we do not have the time for that. It takes a lot of planning to gather the gods together. We have already agreed once before that Percy is suitable," Zeus continued to explain the complex nature of giving out the powers of a god. It had to be agreed upon.

"He has decided, I am sorry but there is nothing else we can do," Athena said in dismay.

"Wait, Percy," Poseidon gained his son's attention, "If you change your mind, you need only shout my name."

"I won't," he replied and walked away. The gods flashed out of the room going back towards Kronos/Voldemort and telling him their decision. We were screwed.
