Chapter 65
"So you're saying there's some kind of witch here, an immortal witch, that caused all this?" Atalanta asked Jason where he and all the others were inside their ship the new Argo eating the food that thankfully Medea (Lily) made. Where Jason gave his allies the details of what he learned.
"Yep." He replied as he ate his strawberries. "And apparently she's the cause of all the crap happening around here. Tch. Destroying my kingdom to rubble! Bitch."
"Uh-hu." Asclepius says while checking the pancakes for any contamination. "And let me guess, we're going to have to deal with her." Some of the others in the table moaned.
"Again." Castor scowls. "How many times must we save the humans? Can't they do anything for themselves."
Hercules growled. He didn't mind helping humans, but even he wanted a break.
"I swear, we never get a vacation." Caenis muttered as she shoved her food in her mouth. Medea (Lily) passed her some juice which she chugged down.
"The life of a Servant." Jason agrees. "But as king and as my vassals, we must help Vale in it's time of need." The second those words left his mouth, Castor glared at him.
"What!" He said pointing at Jason. "What do you mean we serve you?!"
"Well duh." Jason rolls his eyes. Shaking his head at Castor's foolishness. "I'm your captain, but thanks to Ozpin, I'm now king. Ergo, you serve under a king and are now my vassals, retainers, or whatever." Jason's eyes lit up as he then stood up. "Yes! That's what you all are." The new king of Vale then walked around the long sleek table as he then announced the titles of his allies.
"Rejoice! Because now you are no longer just mere Servants. Instead, you are more than that." Jason walked up to Asclepius. "My head doctor and advisor!"
"...I guess I can live with that." The Caster reluctantly accepted his new duty as Jason moved on to Caenis.
"The leader of what will be my future army. My general!" Jason told the woman turned man back to the woman again who grinned at his words.
"So then, you're paying me to kick ass and conquer land?" She asked.
"Yep."
"I'm in!"
Jason then pointed at Atalanta next. "And you're my wilderness expert." He announced Atalanta's new job. "Where you'll train the next generation of hunters to be under my command."
"Oh joy." Atalanta rolled her eyes as she continued to eat her food. Not all that pleased with her new role.
"And you two," Jason looked at the twins. "You'll be my enforcers."
"Enforcers?" Pollux tilted her head.
"Yeah. As in anybody who steps out of line, you beat them up." After all, Jason needed ruthless thugs (secret police) to deal with those who would try to take his kingdom. The twins then grinning, especially Castor as it meant they can assault humans who thought they could pull one over them.
"Hehehe." Castor chuckled darkly. "I suppose I don't mind breaking someone's bones for you."
"Great. And of course we have you my friend." Jason then placed both hands on Hercules shoulders as he smiled. "You'll be my knight in shining armor. My bodyguard! My protector!" Jason then waved his hand in the air as if he was celebrating something. "With you by my side, nothing will go wrong."
Hercules grunted in agreement.
"That's right. It's all coming together. Me and all of you working side by side to rule this kingdom and soon, the world." Jason declared. As technically they now already have conquered Vale as he told them all that time ago when he first proposed the idea to them.
"With me being your advisor and loving wife." Medea (Lily) was suddenly next to Jason.
"Correct." Jason said while not noticing a strange crest appearing on his hand. "You'll be my wife and advi-" His eyes then widened. "Huh!?" Then turned as he saw Medea (Lily) smiling innocently at him as she then showed a small crest on her hand that matched the one on his own hand that he just barely noticed.
Fear entered his mind.
"And done." Medea (Lily) giggles as she then holds Jason's hands like a loving couple. Not noticing how Jason paled with the rest of the Argonauts suddenly feeling uncomfortable. "Now," Medea (Lily) smiles at Jason. "With your words and my geas, I am to be your loving wife and advisor as you agreed to just now. No need for that harlot that seduced you away from me while we can make love."
"Save me." Jason whispered to his allies who then just turned away, not wanting to get involved at all one single bit. For it was unwise to get involved with a woman who was in love (yandere) with her man. So, they did the next best thing.
"A king does indeed need an heir." Asclepius says while suddenly giving flowers to Medea (Lily) who gladly accepted them. "And with both of you in good health, so will the child. Good luck."
"Make sure you don't do any of that lovey dovey stuff near us." Castor tells the two with Pollux hitting him.
"Tell us when the wedding comes." Pollux says while giving them good luck on their wedding.
"This should be fun." Caenis just laughed.
"I think Medea (Lily) could do better." Atalanta says not approving of Jason.
Hercules gave them a thumbs up.
"Ah." Medea (Lily) says while giving a beautiful smile at her closest friends and allies, the ones she trusted most. "Thank you guys."
"Like hell!" Jason certainly wasn't thanking them. "I'm outta here." He then tried to run only to feel electricity zapping him as he fell on his face.
"Ah, right." Medea (Lily) then looked at him with her smile becoming rather creepy. "I forgot to mention, that crest I placed on us ensures that we must fulfill our vows or otherwise forfeit our lives."
"...wha?" Jason blinked as he then looked at the crest on his hand which soon faded. Realizing just what he was getting himself into now. Medea (Lily) giggling at him as she helped him up.
"Don't worry." She then calmly tells her beloved. "Once Vale is complete, we can then tell our wonderful citizens that we are getting married. Isn't that great." The look on Jason's face said otherwise. As now he realized just how deep he was in, and realized that because of his own mouth, he's getting married. Maybe now today, or tomorrow, or even a month from now.
But his fate was set.
Unless….
"I'm sorry. But I don't have the magic to disable this geas you're talking about." Ozpin told Jason who slouched at such dire news.
"Seriously!" Jason yelled at him.
"I'm a fighter, not a scholar." Ozpin tells him as he writes down some forms. "I never really bothered learning the delicate nature of magic. Just used it to fight and the basics, nothing more."
"Well, just great." Jason said. "What kind of secretary are you!"
"...secretary?" Ozpin said, confused.
"Well yeah." Jason puts a hand on his hip. "Since I'm king, you're like, what, my secretary or whatever."
"Well...I suppose I've had worse jobs." And truthfully, Ozpin's incarnations as rulers were always so stressful. So he would gladly serve his new king as a secretary if he must. "Still, if it helps, I can put the rebuilding of the church on halt."
"Yes!" Jason says as he puts both hands on Ozpin's desk. "Do that! Do that!" Jason then moaned. "You're lucky you're not in my shoes." He spat as he looked at his arm, where he knew where the crest was. "Having to deal with a woman who has powerful magic, and his crazy!"
"...Right. Sure." If only. "Moving on, your...majesty...have you informed your team of what is going on?"
"Already done." Jason says as he walks near the broken window and sees his subjects working. "They know about Salem and I told them how she may have Servants by her side. Also how she has agents all over."
"Excellent." Ozpin is grateful for that. "While I usually like having only a few people knowing of Salem, these current times may have changed that."
"Yeah. I suppose with all the crap happening it would cause that." Jason was no stranger to being forced to improvise. When some things had to change because the threat was more stronger than anticipated. With this Salem woman he heard of all her control of Grimm and more, it made sense Ozpin would tell him and the other Servants of the coming danger toward them.
Still, at least it wasn't like there was no hope. After all, it seems that there were many Servants all over willing to help fight the good fight. The ones here, Atlas, and even the two sisters in Vacuo. Overall, things were pretty much great, more so with Merlot gone and the resources of his island being used to help rebuild Vale which was slowly being done.
Though that did leave some concerns.
"You know Salem the most," Jason then spoke up. "So, what do you think she's doing now."
"Building up her forces." Ozpin said without hesitation. Like what he said was true as he looked at Jason. "I'll be frank, for the past month the entirety of Remnant has been in chaos since the fall of Vale. Grimm attacks had risen to unprecedented levels, and these strange new monstres appearing certainly caused a stir."
The remaining kingdoms had locked themselves up, and only now it seems they were allowing entry again. Yet even then, problems remain.
"Patch for some reason, can't be reached. Argus has gone dark. Mantle is apparently facing some kind of...rebellion. Not to mention Mistral is entering some kind of monster killing off Huntsmen." The CCT was for some reason back up, yet apparently there were limitations to it and as of now only news can be spread. As such Ozpin could finally see the state of the rest of the world and while not horrible, it wasn't good either.
"Salem will take advantage of this. All of it." Ozpin sighs as he knew the method of his oldest enemy. "She exploits the division of humanity, and tries to divide us further for her goals. And now, she just may achieve it with how things are."
"Unless we find her home and crush her then and there." Jason laughed. "I'm not saying your enemy will be easy pickings, but trust me, us Servants have faced worse." Like, a lot worse. Demon God Pillars. Giant sized dragons. Civilization destroyers. Gods. Beast freakin 1! This Salem was mid-tier at best the list Chaldea has faced.
Sure if it was just Jason alone then he'd probably los-...be forced to retreat. But with all these Servants here, Salem stood no chance even with her army. Heck, the Dust on Merlot's island has helped the Servants in Beacon a lot. Most was given to Beacon and the reconstruction of Vale, but there was more than enough for the new Argo and even Jason and his allies. Meaning if they wanted to, they could get back their full strength here and now.
'But only when the time's right.' Even better though, Jason discovered his and his teammates old weapons again. What luck! So things were apparently going good for all of them. Ozpin, seeing Jason's confidence smiled.
"Well, I suppose it would be foolish to just look at things pessimistically." He replied as he checked his scroll of updates across Remnant. Seeing how people on Vacuo looked very happy compared to before, and images of these Winter-Ops having their pictures taken with children in Mantle alongside the Ace-Ops. Even in times of crisis, it appears not even Salem could wipe out all joy.
Still, best to be vigilant just in case. As already he had those like Glynda keep a watch out for any of Salem's agents like Cinder Fall and the like. Also ensuring no more Grimm would appear near Beacon while prepping an investigation team to check out Patch to see what was going on there. Those he sent just came back terrified mentioning something about arrows and snakes alongside love-struck men.
At the very least, things are doing well right now.
"Woah. Now this isn't what I expected." Angra Mainyu said as he looked down at the chaos that was happening. Or more specifically, the weirdness going on right now.
"Nobu! Nobu!"
"Die Nobu die!"
"Nobobobo!"
"Watch out! They're exploding!"
"Save me!"
"Nobuuu!"
Particularly, a bunch of soldiers led by a small woman shooting at the chibi Nobu's he recalled seeing before that once invaded Chaldea. Granted, these Nobu were a tad more violent seeing as they kept shooting with intent to kill with a bit of blood all over, but eh, that's what war is about.
"And there should be a great thing happening here. Especially with all this magic." Salem already told him about Chaldea being on the move. But more importantly, it seems they were heading toward Vale. Made sense, I mean come on! Vale had some of the most Servants there on Remnant where apparently some kind of magical nuke went off that killed a fully adult dragon. A dragon!
Something Salem didn't like or want, as if Chaldea goes to Vale, then bam! They'll conspire. "Good thing I have you here."
Then, behind him was none other than the King of Heroes. Or should he say, the walking meatbag. Having his ego transferred to that disgusting beetle Grimm that was turned to the world's ugliest necklace which squirmed as it hated the treatment. How sweet.
"Don't worry Gilly." Angra chuckled. "I won't use your body for long. Just need you to do one thing." Angra then snapped his fingers and meatbag Gilgamesh walked, listening to any command it was given. With Avenger having the perfect plan to use Gilgamesh for. Particularly on one thing.
"Use Ea." The normal Gilgamesh would never have done that. Unless it was on a whim or he was utmost serious, the King of Heroes would never sully his prized blade on the worthy.
"..." Thank goodness he wasn't dealing with Gilgamesh then, but his walking body that could do nothing but obey. From the Gate of Babylon in all its glory, Ea, the Sword of Rupture, came out. It's wonderful design and precious material seen that would make any craftsman die at seeing it's glory. Glory that Argus would share as Avenger then pointed at Argus.
As the beetle Grimm squirmed more, the body of Gilgamesh aimed it's weapon at Argus, where the battle was going on at the moment. Taking out his scroll, Angra decided to get ready to take pictures and record. Where with a sinister grin he said one word. "Fire."
The Sword of Rupture spun. It began glowing ominously, with magic charging up. Powerful and immense magic that began spiraling from the cylindrical, drill-shaped of the sword. The primordial weapon, at full power, could wipe out the surface of the world, here in Remnant, maybe even destroy it. Salem even if she wanted but decided against it for the time being. For now though, it must be used at it's lower setting and even then the weapon distorting space around them was still deadly.
No doubt right now those that could sense magic will detect the power that was now creating a beacon here at Argus. And for the Servants there in that city, well…
"Hope they survive." Angra said as at last Ea then finished charging and released itself. Like a nuclear bomb going off and beyond, the power being shot forth from the Sword of Rupture came out like a beam of red destruction. It slammed in-between the battle field occurring on both sides, where from there as it then blasted those at the edge far away from Ea's attack while those closest were disintegrated into nothingness as was Ea's purpose. No doubt those in the city would feel the rumbling and shaking while the Servants there would feel the power that just crashed into their battlefield.
By the time Ea stopped, the battlefield that had occurred ended as only a great crater remained. Angra chuckled at the sight, and those that just remained. "Okay. It's your turn."
"Graaa!" Numerous Grimm behind Angra then ran forward and past him as they went on to fulfill their mission. To attack the now currently defenseless city. Oh sure whatever Servants were there, the Nobu's and remaining military forces will definitely get rid of them in time. But not after a lot of blood came out of the fight.
Angra then began to move, leaving the meatbag behind while taking a few pictures with his scroll. This distraction will help him accomplish his goal, particularly with the USB drive which, once connected to the station in Argus, will then establish its connection to the CCT one more. then, the real fun can begin as Chaldea will arrive as no doubt it'll have sensed the magic attack from Ea and come running to see what is going on.
Once they come, there reputation will take a great hit. Hehehe.
As Salem told him, the hearts of men can be easily swayed.
Things in Vale are going good. With Merlot gone Vale can recover, while our Servants know about Salem and will prepare accordingly. So yeah, things are fine aside from the fact that Jason is now, er, going to get married eventually with his younger ex-wife. It won't happen soon, but the deadline of marriage awaits Jason.
But enough of that, instead, Remnant will now get to see Chaldea. But with Angra making his move and Salem's manipulations, Chaldea, who is usually seen as a force of good by most residents they see in Singularities and the occasional Lostbelt, will now be seen as the greatest enemy that will unite Remnant or destroy them.
Until Next Time.
"Alright then, in two I'll be going to Vale to talk to Ozpin." Ironwood said to those in the room with him. "So I suppose all of you just continue your job until I return."
"Yeah." Astolfo said as he walked next to the general. "So good luck to all of you."
Oh boy. Something told Ironwood that this talk with Ozpin will be less professional if Astolfo came with him. He'd have rather brought Winter, heck anybody, but they were all busy to go with him. As such, only Astolfo could come and he's certain he might do something very unprofessional.
"Ahem." Ironwood then coughs, deciding to try this one more time. "Are any of you certain that none of you can come?"
In his office were the Ace-Ops, Winter-Ops, and Penny.
"Nope."
"Sorry."
"My wife and I will be having our honeymoon soon."
"I'm playing with Jeanne (Lily)."
"Nu-uh."
"Sorry sir. But I got this ticket for a front row seat in the films. How lucky am I."
"Unfortunately we cannot go with you."
"Yep."
Those were his answers and more, with Astolfo patting him on the back. Great. Just great. Ironwood then saw Tachie, who actually didn't say anything. Then again, she rarely said anything at all. Usually silent.
"Ahem. Tachie." He then called out to what the people of Atlas and Mantle now refer to her as Shielder. The girl looked at him. "I don't suppose you can come along as well?" Ironwood expected a no.
"I can come."
"Oh." But it seems he didn't have to worry. "Then...come along. The rest of you, continue on. And be careful with these strange rebels down in Mantle." Reports of two strong but weird individuals were spotted in Mantle. Declaring they would rebel but nothing more. Thought were troublesome as they kept attacking supply units for Amity Arena for the project he had ongoing for it.
"Yes sir." His allies said without a problem. Then like so everyone left leaving just Ironwood, Astolfo, and Tachie. The feminine boy then walking to Tachie as he shaked her hand.
"Glad to have you aboard."
"..."
Ironwood rolled his eyes. "Come on then you two, let us get going." He told them as he then checked his scroll. "And get ready in five minutes. Which reminds me, it seems Sion is actually coming with us. Something about meeting friends." Either way, this was going to be a long ride. 'But hey.' Ironwood thought as he began moving with the two walking behind him. 'Now I can meet Ozpin again. And what can go wrong.'
