Chapter 13: Unanticipated Alteration

(The Next Day)

Ash and Serena woke up the next day, happy to see each other. Exchanging smiles and laughter while they figured out what to do for breakfast, they eventually settled on eating waffles. "Ash-kun, I was wondering, how do you know Calem from last night? Eon?" Asked Serena. "Calem and I were rivals from when I traveled here with Clemont, Bonnie, and Korrina." Replied Ash. "Really?!" "It's true sweetheart. We battled a lot, mostly for fun and training experience. He had high hopes of making it to and winning the Kalos League, and when we both made it there he hoped to battle me in the final match." "Did you two battle each other? Eon?" "No, he lost in the semifinals. I remember how rough it was for him emotionally, but he wanted me to win it after he got eliminated. I came close in the final battle but I lost when my Greninja fainted at the last second." "I see." "As hard as it was to see that, I felt like I was on the right track in achieving my dream of being a Pokémon League Champion." "What did you do after that? Eon?" "Some crazy stuff happened and we managed to get through everything. Then I pondered what to do going forward, I intended to spend a few days on it, as per usual, but I wound up staying in Kalos for almost two months before I ultimately wound up going to Alola." "Two months? What made you decide to move to Alola?" "Well, I enjoyed the vibrant culture and how nice the people there were. I also liked how tight knit the communities in Alola were compared to the other regions. So I decided to live in Alola full time after a few months, and after that I became The Alolan League Champion." "Wow. You've had an excellent journey so far, Ash-kun. Eon." "I've been told, but you've made it much more interesting and fun, Sweetheart. Serena then wrapped her feelers around Ash in a hug. "I love you Ash-kun." "I love you too Sweetheart."

(Ash's Rotom Phone then begins to ring.)

"I'll get it." Said Ash. "Alright Ash-kun. Eon." Said Serena. Ash then picks up his Rotom Phone and answers the call. "Hello?" "Hello Ash." Said Mateus over the phone. "How have you been?" "Never better." "When do you think you'll be able to arrive in Kalos?" "About that, I was able to finish all of my work, but due to a mishap on the higher up's side, I was inadvertently given another task to do." "Are you serious? What are we going to do?" It set everything off by a few extra days, so I took the liberty of informing the Alola League of what happened and they voluntarily extended your vacation by an extra week. Rest assured, they've also handled everything for the fight back as well." "I understand." "I know this sucks, but at least on the bright side, you get a few extra days to enjoy Kalos with Serena." "I'll let her know about this." "Once again, I apologize for the delay, but it's all part of the job, so there's not much I can do." "Thanks for informing me Mateus. Later." "Later." Ash then ends the call and places his Rotom Phone on the table. "Who was that Ash-kun?" "That was Detective Mateus on the phone." "Really? Has he said when we he'll be able to arrive in Kalos? Eon?" "The bad news is that he was accidentally given more work due to a mishap." "Aww." "But the good news is that our vacation was extended a week, and knowing Mateus, he'll definitely try to get all of his work done as quickly as possible. He knows how important this is for you." "I'd suppose if this is all for the better, then we should try to enjoy the extra time we have in Kalos. Speaking of which, how many days until we head back to Alola? Eon?" Ash then starts counting with his fingers. "Okay, so we have been in the Kalos region for ten days, factoring in the extra week, we now have eleven days left on our trip." "I see. Well, let's try to make the most of the next eleven days."

(Three Days Later)

Over the next three days, Ash and Serena had hung out with Clemont, Korrina, Bonnie, Goh, and Chloe, as well as Miette and Calem. Having fun and enjoying their trip, Ash and Serena always marveled at the possibility of doing something together every day. Reading a book with her Braixen and Pancham by her side, Serena marvels at the heroic adventures of the story's protagonist, so much so that she had lost track of her surroundings, not noticing that Braixen and Pancham were asleep. Seeing a fork with a Poké Puff, Serena turns her head to grab a bite only to be kissed by Ash as she ate the Poké Puff, causing her to blush. "Good Morning Sweetheart." Said Ash. "Good Morning Ash-kun. You surprised me. Eon." Said Serena. "What can I can say? There's nothing more joyful than seeing you surprised with a smile." "Why thank you Ash." "So what are we doing for tonight's picnic?" "I'm thinking up a few ideas, we'll likely have to use Clemont's kitchen, since we don't have much of one here. Eon." "I see." "It'll be nice to have a picnic at the beaches of Shalour City." "That's true." "I really wish I packed your mother's cookbook. I'm having a hard time figuring out what to make. Eon." "I remember when Mom had a hard time figuring out what to make, she would cook dishes to her heart's delight. Those days we would either have a feast or have meals for weeks." "I can't really do that here. Let me try to think of what to make and I'll give you a list of ingredients to get. Eon." "Alright then."

(Two Hours Later, Inside a Supermarket)

"Three boxes of Brownie Batter, one bag of Milk Chocolate Min & Min's Candies, one jar of Chocolate Hazelnut Spread, one box of Sweet Chocolates, one jar of Vanilla Icing, one cup of sprinkles, and a one pound bag of Oran Berries. Did I miss anything on the List, Pikachu?" Asked Ash. "Pikapi, Pika Pika" Cried Pikachu. "Alright then." Ash then goes to pay for all of the ingredients and heads back to the hotel. "I'm back." "Ash-kun! Were you able to get everything? Eon?" "I was able to do so, Sweetheart." "Great, everything's ready to go. I was able to talk to Clemont and we'll be able to use his kitchen in an hour." "I'm surprised that you decided to handle making all the deserts for the picnic." "I know, but it's not impossible, I technically have two extra pairs of hands at my disposal and I have Braixen and Pancham to help me. Eon." "Pi, Pikachu! (Wait, Serena!)" Cried Pikachu. "What is it, Pikachu?" "Pi pika pika Pikachu, pika pi pika Pikachu. (If you need any assistance, I'll be happy to help you.)" "Aw! Why thank you, Pikachu! Eon!"

I'd like to inform you all that the "Tied in Love" trilogy (so far) has reached 10,000th view on FanFiction last Friday after chapter 12 was uploaded. it's brought me a lot of joy reaching this milestone. When I started to work on what would eventually become "Intertwined" and by extension, the "Tied in Love" trilogy, reaching this point didn't even cross my mind.
