Annabeth POV:
"Well then," Dumbledore said. "I think I'll do just that, but repeating some necessary information is always important. You are all here to help our school's defenses by teaching the students here how to fight the ways you usually do and to also assist if there are any other attacks."
"Honestly, aren't we just adding oil to fire? Demigods attract monsters, us being here seems like a big feast for them all unless you have a protection thingy from it."
"In a way, yes, we do. However, it can't be compared to the official ones that you have at your Camp. Continuing, at first, Chiron had sent a few demigods here in order to help the situation and get a sense for it, and from that it can be seen that it is quite severe. They had also learned magic to put up with their disguise, but since it is so far into the school year, I will not make it necessary for you to do so. It is obvious that this choice is open to you, but it will not be forced,"
"Isn't that a little suspicious?" Someone asked. "We come here as something like transfer students, but we don't need to learn anything?"
"The demigods are not here this time in the guise as students, but as teachers instead. There should not be any problems to the wizards and witches at Hogwarts. Furthermore, you will also be helping Hagrid in his lessons as well as incorporate some knowledge about monsters into your own lessons when teaching. Most of the students are unfamiliar with your world so each attack has been full of surprising aspects for them. If they were to know more about monsters and their abilities, I believe that it will be greatly beneficial. In addition, there has also been some trouble for you demigods as well from what I hear. Usually, one would have dreams or vision of important events and such, but most of you have been dream-free lately,"
"Yeah," A demigod leaned back onto a wall. "I'm not sure if that's a bad thing. From what I know, other than Nico, no one else has been having any strange visions. I guess this should be something good, meaning there isn't anything too big and bad occurring, but we all know that's not necessarily the case,"
"Correct," Dumbledore applauded. "Chiron mentioned that demigods would have dreams from time to time, but for a while, things have gone completely silent."
"Could it be that Morpheus went over to the opposing side like he did when we fought Kronos?"
As soon as this query was spoken, another person immediately gave a rebuttal. "If he is or if he isn't, how can we know either? We didn't even he was working with Kronos until Manhattan was put to sleep. It's a big question mark, but it's not one we can really solve at the moment unless Mr.D or Chiron went up to the people above and just asked about it...Did either of them do that?"
"They did and it seems that Morpheus hasn't been doing anything to this situation either, but as you said it is not one that we can solve at this moment. However, there is another thing, more personal, that should be discussed. I believe that your respective leaders should have mentioned it earlier." Dumbledore's facial expression had suddenly shifted into something more serious to fit the topic while the faces of several demigods in the room changed. It was obvious that for those who understood the implications they had received beforehand and were also opposed to the idea, their bearings immediately turned sour as if they had eaten a pile of lemons. Still, they all waited to hear what Dumbledore had to say although many seemed to be holding back until a right moment where thousands of words would come out as shouts.
Dumbledore didn't hesitate much when talking, despite knowing about the delicacy of the situation, he still acted as he always did, giving people a more calm feeling towards whatever he was talking about. "We have gone deeply into the disguises and what you'll be doing here at the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but things have always been unexpected, especially now when things that have never happened before or are considered inconceivable are occurring right before our very eyes. In the case where the disguises can not be helped anymore, I humbly ask for you to continue to aid us in this time for mutual benefit and lt everyone go through this without any concealment,"
As expected, there really wasn't a pretty way to word this. Even coming from the mouth of someone like Dumbledore who still spoke about it with a sense of uncertainty on how to word it, it still gave everyone in the room a deep irksome feeling that rose in the stomach, even I couldn't deny an unpleasant feeling that appeared. Looking to those I was more familiar with like Percy and Hazel...it seemed they also had similar feelings. Hazel probably had received earlier warnings, but Percy and I had only briefly talked about this topic with Chiron and Dumbledore. Even then, Chiron worded it as one of the worse case possibilities and had said it in a way that made me doubt all the same if he had thought it through or was voicing his own worries. I respected Chiron, that was obvious. However, this time the idea brought forth was truly incomprehensible and never been considered before to the slightest degree, until that day.
Also as expected, many demigods didn't take it very well. Immediately, the one who had first shouted out earlier was also the first one to speak. "How ridiculous," It was only two words, but it seemed to be dripping with venom. If the words weren't enough, the expressions of many other demigods seemed to be full of it as well.
"I understand that this is a very...difficult situation to imagine, but with how much that is unexpected happening, I would like to think we are prepared for the worse. If there comes a time when these disguises and cover-ups can no longer be upheld then it might be best to sacrifice this for better interests," It still didn't sound any better than before, I understood that Dumbledore was putting it in the best way as possible, but the faces in the room seemed to be even more appalled. Perhaps, it wasn't the best choice to bring this up on their first night at Hogwarts, but it also wasn't the best scenario if Dumbledore suddenly mentioned it later on and a bunch of demigods chose to leave. Telling it now would already sort those that wanted to stay from those that didn't. Since most of them got implications beforehand, it was likely that most would choose to stay and had come despite this possibility whether they didn't know about it, ignored it or something else.
