Again, sorry for the long wait. Here's chapter four. I'll try and post more often.
CHAPTER FOUR - One Step Further
Everyone was gathered at the council hall. Everyone except Bobby, Carol and Francisco.
Sully was in the middle of the council hall.
Luke, Lynn and Sam were to the left of him.
Lori, Aazay, Nick and Javier were to the right of him.
Clyde, Luna and everyone else were sitting in the benches.
Sully stepped forward causing everyone to go silent.
Sully then spoke up.
"Things are changing." Sully said. "And there's no denying that."
Everyone stared at Sully.
"Our new greenie here just runs into the maze like nothing." Sully continued. "Which is a clear violation of our rules here."
Nick then spoke up.
"Yeah, but he saved Bobby's life." Nick said.
Sully then turned towards him.
"Did he?" Sully asked.
Nick stood silent.
Sully then turned back towards the crowd.
"For three years, we have coexisted with these things, and now, you killed one of them." Sully said as he pointed to Lincoln.
The crowd silently turned their heads to Lincoln.
Lincoln sat silently.
Sully then spoke up again.
"Who knows what that could mean for us." Sully said. "Maybe, since he killed one of the grievers, it's friends would want revenge of some sort."
"You're overreacting dude." Luke said.
Lori then spoke up.
"Well what do you suggest we do?" Lori asked.
Sully turned towards Lori.
"He has to be punished." Sully said.
The gladers started talking with mixed reactions, some agreeing and some disagreeing.
Aazay then turned towards Luke, Lynn and Sam.
"You three, you were there with him, what do you think?" Aazay asked.
Everyone stopped talking and looked over towards the three.
"Well, I definitely don't agree with him being punished. He had the balls to run into the maze. You would think after seeing a griever, he would just go to a corner, curl up and cry, but he fucking killed it!" Luke said.
Sam nodded her head to this.
Lynn then spoke up.
"I think, in all the time we've been here, no one has ever killed a griever before." Lynn said.
Everyone was paying attention.
"When we were running for our lives, this dumbass stood behind to stop the griever." Lynn said as she looked towards Lincoln.
"Look, I don't know if he is brave, or stupid." Lynn said.
Some people in the crowd chuckled.
"Whatever it is, we need more of it. I say we make him a runner." Lynn said confidently.
The crowd started talking loud, most disagreed with this idea while very few agreed.
Lincoln looked up, surprised to hear this. Was he really going to be a runner? His third day here?
Luke smiled.
"A runner? What? Dude, he just got here man!" Michael said.
Clyde started chanting Lincoln's name but no one else joined in as they were too busy talking.
Sully then interrupted them all.
"If you want to throw the newbie a parade, that's fine! Go ahead. But if there is one thing I know about the maze, it is that you do not-" Sully was cut off by a noise and an alarm coming from outside.
The gladers gathered turned their heads around.
Sully stopped talking and stared.
Lincoln looked over, the sound sounded familiar.
Sully looked at Lori and Aazay, before rushing outside.
Lori, Aazay, Javier and Nick followed him.
Soon enough, mostly everyone got up and started exiting the council hall.
Lincoln, Clyde and Luke were the last to leave the council hall.
"Wait, I know that sound!" Lincoln said.
"The box, it's coming back up!" Clyde yelled.
Luke's eyes widened.
"It shouldn't be!" Luke said as he followed everyone else.
Lincoln and Clyde then followed.
Mostly everyone ran over towards the box, confused why it's coming back up.
Sully and Aazay arrived at the box first.
Both looked down and saw a silhouette on the floor of the box.
The two looked at each other in confusion before grabbing the box doors and opening them.
Mostly everyone surrounded the box as Aazay dropped down to investigate.
"Aazay, what do you see?" Nick asked.
Everyone surrounded the box as Lincoln walked to the front and looked down to see a girl.
"It's another greenie." Aazay said confusingly.
"What?" Joey said.
"No way." Chandler said.
"Huh." Benny said.
Lincoln noticed the girl was unconscious, on the floor. He then noticed she was holding something in her hand.
"I think she passed out." Aazay said.
Kaitlin then spoke up.
"What's in her hand?" Kaitlin asked.
Aazay looked down and crouched.
He slowly grabbed the rolled up note from her hand and opened it.
Everyone watched this.
Aazay then read the text out loud.
"She's the last oneā¦ever." Aazay said slowly.
Aazay looked up at everyone with a shocked face.
Everyone looked at each other worryingly.
"Why the hell is she-" Aazay was cut off by the girl who jumped up and gasped for air.
Everyone stepped back quickly in fear.
Aazay yelped as he backed up.
The girl then spoke one word.
"Lincoln!" The girl said quickly before closing her eyes and laying back down.
Everyone looked up at Lincoln slowly.
Lincoln was surprised and confused. How did she know his name? He never saw her before, at least he thinks.
Sully then looked over at Luke, who was standing next to him.
"Still think I'm overreacting?" Sully said.
Luke stood silent.
Everyone kept staring at Lincoln.
Lincoln looked around in confusion.
Everyone stood silent before looking back down at the girl. She had black hair tied in a ponytail, a light blue hoodie and a black skirt. She also had freckles and browner skin.
The girl remained unconscious.
FOUR HOURS LATER
Lori, Lynn, Aazay, and Lincoln entered the medical hut.
As they walked over towards Carol and Francisco who were standing next to the girl who was placed on a bed and still unconscious, Lincoln looked over to see Bobby, shirtless, tied up and breathing hard. Lincoln noticed his entire body was veiny.
Lori then spoke up as they approached the med-jacks.
"Carol, what's going on with her, why won't she wake up?" Lori asked.
"Don't know, I'm no goddess at this job, never dealt with something like this before." Carol said.
Lincoln looked at the girl, who was lying down, unconscious. He didn't know why, but she seemed so familiar, but he couldn't wrap his head around it.
Lori, Lynn and Aazay looked at Lincoln staring at her.
Aazay then spoke up.
"Do you recognize her? Looks like you do." Aazay asked.
Lincoln looked up at him.
"N-No." Lincoln said slowly.
Aazay crossed his arms.
"Really? Because she seemed to recognize you." Aazay said.
Lincoln stood silent before speaking up.
"What about the note?" Lincoln asked.
Aazay then spoke.
"We'll worry about the note later." Aazay said.
Lori looked at Aazay.
"I think we should worry about it now." Lori said.
Aazay then turned towards Lori.
"We've got enough to deal with at the moment." Aazay said before turning back towards the girl.
Carol then looked at Aazay.
"She's right, Aazay." Carol said.
Everyone looked at her.
"If the box isn't coming back up, how long do you think we could last?" Carol asked.
Aazay then spoke up.
"No one said that. Let's not jump to twenty conclusions, we'll just wait until she wakes up and see what she knows." Aazay said. "Somebody has got to have the answers, it's probably her."
Lincoln looked around before realizing something.
"Wait." Lincoln said before turning around and walked outside the medical tent.
Everyone conscious turned around and looked at him.
"Where are you going?" Aazay asked.
"Back into the maze." Lincoln replied.
Everyone looked at each other.
Lynn made a confused face before walking out to follow him.
Lincoln walked outside and headed towards the doors.
"Hey." Lynn said quietly while running towards him.
Lincoln ignored this and kept walking.
"Lincoln! Stop!" Lynn said as she walked in front of him and put her hands on his chest to stop him.
Lincoln stopped and looked at her.
"What is this with you? Huh? A deathwish? You just got out and now you wanna go back in?" Lynn asked.
Lincoln then spoke up.
"Sam said that no one has ever killed a griever before." Lincoln replied. "Lynn, now we have one. You're telling me you're not even a little bit curious?"
Lynn shook her head.
"Not really, no." Lynn said.
Lincoln spoke.
"Maybe we should search the body, maybe grievers have something useful inside them. Maybe that could be the key." Lincoln said.
Lynn stood silent before speaking up.
"So what's the plan? You're gonna go out there and dissect that thing by yourself?" Lynn asked.
Lincoln then spoke.
"I will if I have to." Lincoln replied.
Lynn was dumbfounded by his answer.
"Have the other runners left yet?" Lincoln asked.
Lynn sighed before looking over at a group of gladers.
"All the runners but Luke quit this morning. After Luke told them how many grievers there were, they're not in any hurry to go back out there." Lynn explained. "Why are you?"
Lincoln put on a serious face.
"I-i think it's time we found out what we're really up against." Lincoln said confidently.
Lynn stood silent before nodding her head.
"Alright, but you're not going back out there alone." Lynn said.
Lincoln was surprised to hear this.
"Meet me in the giant hut in the woods in half an hour." Lynn said before walking away.
Lincoln stood silent before looking at the runners again.
He noticed Sully talking to two teenagers, a dark skinned boy with brown hair, freckles and a blue shirt and a light skinned boy with black hair tied in a bun with a beard and a white tank top.
Sully had a serious face as the two were listening.
Lincoln couldn't make out what they were saying, but he didn't pay too much mind to it after walking away.
Lincoln was waiting for Lynn by the obvious big hut in the woods.
Lincoln took a look around him and saw a white and blue butterfly.
Lincoln walked over to approach it before hearing footsteps behind him.
He turned around and saw Lynn walking up. But she wasn't the only one.
Lincoln noticed four other gladers walking up behind her.
It was Luke, Jordan, Chandler and another girl with brown hair.
"Would this be enough?" Lynn asked with her arms crossed.
Lincoln looked at all of them. He noticed they were carrying spears.
Lincoln nodded his head.
"Okay. Let's go." Lincoln said.
The five ran towards the maze doors before entering it.
"Follow me!" Lynn yelled.
Jordan, Chandler and the other girl looked up at the walls around them, admiring the maze, as they had never been inside of it.
They ran for ten minutes before coming across the griever squished between the walls.
They approached it and noticed it's guts were all spilled on the floor and a leg was sticking out.
Chandler's eyes widened.
"That's disgusting." Chandler said out loud before looking at the others.
Jordan kept staring at the griever before noticing something.
"There's something in there." Jordan said.
Luke looked closer.
"You mean beside a griever pancake?" Luke said.
The five got closer.
"Yeah, there's something flashing in there." The girl with brown hair said.
The girl with brown hair wore a blue and white hoodie and a brown skirt.
Everyone looked even closer before Lynn walked over.
Lynn approached the dead griever.
"Woah woah woah, wait, what are you doing?" Chandler asked worryingly.
Lynn stopped and looked at him before looking back at the griever.
Everyone was confused by what she was doing.
Lynn put her arm between the walls to try and reach the flashing red dot inside.
Lynn touched something squishy.
Suddenly, the leg sticking out made a loud noise before rising up.
Lynn backed up quickly.
Everyone yelped and stood back.
The leg then stopped moving again.
"I thought you said it was dead!" Jordan said.
Chandler then looked at them.
"Does it reflex?" Chandler asked.
"You hope!" Luke replied.
Lincoln looked at the griever.
"Okay, let's try and pull it out!" Lincoln said as he approached it.
Everyone walked up and grabbed the leg.
"Okay, ready? On three! One. Two. Three!" Lincoln said as the rest began pulling on the leg.
The five struggled to pull out the leg.
It made a horrible and disgusting sound as they finally were able to pull it out.
Chandler gagged.
Jordan fell to the ground.
The girl with brown hair walked over towards her.
"You okay Jordan?" The brown haired girl asked as she lent out her hand.
"Yeah. I'm good, Mollie." Jordan said as she grabbed her hand and got pulled up.
Lynn walked over to the flashing light, which was now in the sunlight.
Griever guts were surrounding it.
The flashing red dot made a beeping noise every flash.
Lynn bent over and picked up the flashing object.
As she picked it up, goo dripped from the object.
"That's not right." Luke said.
Lynn tilted the object.
She noticed a metal object inside the guts.
She put her hand on the metal object and began pulling it out of the guts.
She managed to pull it out and dropped the guts on the floor.
Everyone made a disgusted face from the sight of this.
Lynn looked at her hand and noticed it was covered in goo. She shook it around before looking at the metal object with the flashing red dot.
"What the hell is that?" Luke asked.
Lincoln looked at the object with everyone else.
Lynn looked at the object, which was a cylinder. It had wires sticking out the top and had a screen on it.
Lynn moved her thumb to clear the screen from the goo.
It showed the number 7.
The object also had a logo on it.
"Interesting." Lynn said to herself.
Chandler then spoke up.
"Okay, whatever it is, can we take this stuff back to the glade? Cus I don't wanna meet this guy's friends." Chandler said.
Lynn spoke up.
"He's right, it's getting late." Lynn said as she looked up. "Come on."
Lynn walked down the maze while everyone else followed, still holding the object.
Lynn started running and everyone else did too.
The five reached the glade and walked out of the maze. Clyde was standing by the doors.
"Guys! Guys!" Clyde said.
Everyone stopped and looked at him.
"Yeah, what is it?" Luke asked.
"Sully found out you guys left. He called a meeting of the keepers and guardians. Everyones at council hall." Clyde said as he pointed towards it.
Everyone looked over and saw most of the gladers waiting outside the council hall.
"Come on." Lynn said as she ran over.
Lincoln, Luke and Jordan followed her, leaving Chandler and Mollie with Clyde.
"Honestly, I don't know why we're talking about this." Sully said as he sat down. "We don't have a choice."
Next to Sully was Lori, Aazay, Luna, Nick, Kaitlin, Javier, Carol and Francisco.
"If Bobby was here, you know he would agree with me." Sully said.
Lori looked over at Carol and Francisco.
"Carol, Francis, how's he doing?" Lori asked.
Francis crossed his arms and looked down.
Carol sighed before speaking.
"It's bad, it's getting worse." Carol replied.
Sully looked at them.
"Alright...well...just keep an eye on him." Lori said.
Carol nodded before she and Francisco walked towards the door.
As they went to open the door to the council hall, the door opened and Lynn, Lincoln, Luke and Jordan walked in.
Carol and Francisco then walked out.
Sully sat up and looked at them.
"Oh, it's nice for you to join us!" Sully said. "You guys enjoyed your little field trip?".
The four walked down the steps.
Sully then looked at Lincoln.
"Last time I checked, the greenie wasn't a keeper. Mind waiting outside?!" Sully said while pointing to the door.
Lincoln nodded and began walking towards the door.
"HE STAYS!" Lynn said loudly.
Lincoln stopped and turned around.
Sully raised his eyebrows.
"What's the point in all of this?" Lynn asked.
Aazay sighed.
"We've got two hours until sundown. We've got to figure out what to do with Bobby." Aazay said.
Jordan then spoke up.
"You wanna banish him?" Jordan asked.
Sully then shook his head.
"No one wants to banish anyone. But he's stung, we don't have a choice." Javier said.
Luke then spoke up.
"Actually, we do." Luke said.
Everyone except Lynn looked at him.
Luke grabbed the metal object from Lynn's backpack and held it out.
"What's that?" Luna asked.
Luke handed it over to Aazay.
"We found it. It was inside a griever." Luke said.
Aazay examined the metal object and looked at the logo. The logo had four letters. W, C, K and D.
"These are the same letters we get in our supplies." Aazay said.
Lincoln then spoke up.
"Yeah, whoever put us here obviously made the grievers." Lincoln explained.
Sully glared at Lincoln.
"And this is the first, the first real clue, the first anything you guys found in five years right Lynn?" Lincoln asked while pointing at the metal object.
"Right." Lynn responded.
Aazay kept examining the object.
"Aazay, we gotta go back out there. Who knows where this might lead us?" Lincoln said.
Sully looked over at Aazay casually.
Sully then spoke.
"You see what he's trying to do right?" Sully said. "First he breaks our rules and then tries to convince us to abandon them totally? The rules are the only thing that has ever held us together, why now are we questioning them?" Sully said out loud.
Lincoln looked at Sully.
"If Bobby was here, you know he'd agree with me." Sully said. "This weenie needs to be punished!"
Aazay stared at Sully.
Javier nodded his head.
Everyone was silent.
Aazay then looked over at Lincoln.
Aazay walked up and handed the metal object to Lynn.
Lynn grabbed it.
Aazay then spoke.
"You're right. Lincoln broke the rules. One night in the pit and no food." Aazay said while crossing his arms.
Sully's eyes widened.
"Oh come on, Aazay. One night in the pit?! Y-you think that's gonna stop him from going into the maze? He'll get us all killed!" Sully yelled.
"No. And we can't just have non-runners running into the maze whenever they feel like it!" Aazay said.
Lincoln nodded his head.
Sully looked at Lincoln before looking back at Aazay in confusion.
"So, let's just make this official. Starting from tomorrow, you're a runner." Aazay said while looking at Lincoln.
Lincoln was surprised to hear this.
Luna and Luke smiled while Lynn nodded her head.
Sully was shocked to hear this.
"Wow." Sully said before walking towards the door.
"Sully." Javier said.
"Nah, Javi." Sully said before exiting the council hall.
Javier then followed him.
Lincoln noticed Javier was the same guy Sully was talking to earlier. The guy with the black hair tied in a bun, a beard and a white tank top.
Lori and Nick then followed them and exited the council hall.
Lincoln looked at Aazay.
"Thanks, Aazay." Lincoln said.
Aazay looked at Lincoln, but stood silent before walking outside.
Luna, Luke, Kaitlin and Jordan then exited the council hall.
Lynn then turned towards Lincoln.
"I got something to show you, follow me." Lynn said before walking outside the council hall.
Lincoln asked no questions and followed her outside.
The two walked through the forest.
Lynn in the front, leading the way while Lincoln was behind her looking at his surroundings.
He noticed that same white and blue butterfly from before flying next to a tree.
Lincoln never questioned the butter fly's presence, but noticed it looked familiar.
Lincoln then turned towards Lynn.
"Hey, where are we going?" Lincoln asked.
Lynn kept walking before speaking up.
"You'll see." Lynn said.
The two continued walking down the forest and arrived at the same large hut from before.
Lynn entered the hut, with Lincoln following behind.
Lincoln entered the hut to see in the middle, a tarp covering a large, circular stone.
Lynn walked next to the tarp while Lincoln looked around.
He noticed wood and bronze hanging up on the walls with multiple numbers and letters carved into them.
"Ready, greenie?" Lynn said before pulling the tarp off the stone.
Lincoln looked back to see a giant replica of the maze made of sticks stuck together. In the middle of the diorama was grass and rocks to act as the glade.
"Woah. You made this?" Lincoln asked.
Lynn chuckled.
"Who else could've?" Lynn said.
Lynn sighed and looked down at the maze replica.
Lincoln still had his eyes focused on it.
"It's the maze. All of it." Lynn said.
Lincoln was confused by this answer and looked up.
"What do you mean 'all of it'? I thought you were still mapping the maze." Lincoln asked.
Lynn looked up slowly at Lincoln before sighing.
"There's nothing left to map." Lynn said.
Lincoln's eyes widened and his mouth opened at this answer.
"I went to every inch of the maze myself. Recycling and remembering every pattern." Lynn explained. "If there was a way out of the maze, we would've found it by now."
Lincoln was still shocked before looking down at the diorama.
"Why haven't you told anyone this?" Lincoln asked.
Lynn sighed and walked over towards Lincoln before speaking.
"It was Bobby's call. People needed to believe we had a chance of getting out." Lynn said. "If they find out, they'll lose all hope."
Lincoln looked at Lynn.
"But maybe now, we have a real chance." Lynn said as she looked at Lincoln.
Lynn handed the metal object to Lincoln.
Lincoln grabbed it and looked at it.
Lynn then looked at the maze diorama.
"Take a look at this." Lynn said.
Lincoln looked at the diorama.
"About two years ago, we started exploring these outer sections." Lynn explained.
Lincoln paid attention.
"See these rocks with the numbers on em'?" Lynn asked.
Lincoln nodded.
"They put those numbers on the walls. One through eight." Lynn explained.
Lincoln nodded again.
"See, the way it works is every night, when the maze changes, it opens up a new section." Lynn explained.
Lincoln stared at the diorama.
"So today, section six was open. Tomorrow, it'll be four, then eight, then three...the pattern always stays the same." Lynn explained.
Lincoln stared at the metal object.
"What's so special about seven?" Lincoln asked.
"Don't know. Maybe it isn't special, maybe we gotta get one of those things from each section. Which gives us at least another thing to do. However, it'll be tough." Lynn said.
Lincoln looked at Lynn.
"So we're gonna have to kill even more grievers?" Lincoln asked.
"If that's where it came from, then I assume so." Lynn said.
Lincoln nodded.
Lynn then walked over to the other side of the diorama.
"Last night, when you killed that griever, section seven was open. Which is odd, section two should have been open. No clue why. I think section seven is where it comes from." Lynn explained. "Tomorrow, we're gonna try and see if the pattern switched up."
Lincoln nodded.
Suddenly, Carol and Francisco ran up to the entrance of the hut.
Lincoln and Lynn turned around.
"Hey! What are you guys doing? You're not allowed in here." Lynn said.
Carol catches her breath before speaking.
"Sorry. It's just the uhm-" Carol was cut off by Francisco.
"It's the girl." Francisco said.
Lynn and Lincoln looked at each other.
"What, is she awake?" Lincoln asked.
Carol and Francisco looked at each other and smiled.
"You could say that." Carol said.
The four ran back to the glade to see a bunch of gladers gathered in front of a tower.
Clyde was laughing from a distance.
Lincoln approached Clyde with the other three behind him.
"Hey, Clyde, what's going on?" Lincoln asked.
Clyde chuckled before speaking
"That. Is going on." Clyde said while pointing to the tower.
Lincoln and Lynn looked over and saw the girl throwing rocks and other debris at the gladers.
"Leave me alone!" The girl yelled.
A group of gladers were protecting themselves with pot lids, crate tops and other shield-like objects.
"Woah! Watch your head guys!" Nick yelled with a bowl over his head.
Sully looked up at the girl.
"Hey! Throw one more of those things and I'll-" Sully was cut off by a rock hitting his head.
Sully ducked away under Javier's pot lid shield.
Lincoln and Lynn ran over.
"What happened?" Lincoln asked.
"I really don't think she likes us very much." Luna giggled while hiding under Luke's crate top.
"Go away!" The girl yelled.
Chandler looked up.
"We come in peace!" Chandler yelled.
"Relax!" Luan yelled.
Lincoln looked up.
"Hey look, we just wanna talk!" Lincoln yelled.
The girl grabbed another rock before throwing it down.
"I'm warning you!" The girl yelled.
The rock hit Nick's bowl helmet.
"Oh shit! Take cover y'all, take cover!" Nick yelled before ducking away.
The girl kept throwing rocks and other debris down at the gladers.
Lincoln spoke up.
"Hey! Woah woah, hey it's Lincoln! It's Lincoln!" Lincoln yelled.
The girl stopped throwing rocks down.
The girl peaked over the ledge.
Everyone looked up at her.
"I'm gonna come up, okay?" Lincoln yelled.
The girl stared down at him before backing away from the ledge silently.
Lincoln walked forward.
"Okay, just me." Lincoln said.
The other gladers looked at him.
Lincoln nodded and walked up the tower.
"Alright, I'm coming up!" Lincoln shouted.
Lynn smiled and shook her head at the situation.
Lincoln opened the trap door and poked his head up to see the girl holding a machete towards him.
"Woah woah woah." Lincoln said slowly.
The girl was curled up and pointed the machete at Lincoln.
"Woah. Okay, just...easy...alright?" Lincoln said calmly.
The girl still held the machete before speaking.
"Where am I? What is this place? Why can't I remember anything?" The girl asked.
Lincoln held his hand out.
"Look, this is all normal. W-we've all been through this. Okay? Y-your name, that'll come back to you in a couple days, i-it's the one thing that-" Lincoln was cut off by the girl.
"Ronnie Anne." The girl said.
Lincoln's face went into a confused expression.
"What'd you say?" Lincoln asked.
"My name. It's Ronnie Anne. R-Ronnie for short." The girl said slowly.
Lincoln nodded before speaking.
"Okay, Ronnie, uh, I'm Lincoln. But you already knew that." Lincoln said. "Not a guess, huh?"
Ronnie kept quiet, still holding the machete towards him.
Lincoln looked at her.
Ronnie then spoke.
"T-they said I kept saying your name in my sleep. Who are you?" Ronnie asked.
Lincoln shook his head before speaking.
"I don't know. I can't remember. Okay, none of us, none of us here remember anything. We all woke up here, just like you did." Lincoln replied.
Ronnie stared at Lincoln.
Lincoln nodded his head and slowly reached for the machete.
"I-i'm gonna take this." Lincoln said.
Although Ronnie didn't want to, she still let Lincoln take the machete.
Lincoln grabbed the machete and set it down next to him.
A voice was heard from below.
"What's going on up there?" A voice asked.
Lincoln and Ronnie Anne looked down to see Sully looking up.
"Is she coming down?" Luan asked.
"Uhm." Lincoln said before looking at Ronnie.
Ronnie shook her head.
"Uh, can you guys just give us a second." Lincoln said.
Aazay nodded.
"A-alright. Come on." Aazay said while telling the others to go with his hands.
Luke and Nick looked up.
"Wonder what's happening up there." Nick asked.
"Probably a heart to heart." Luke joked.
The group started to disperse in different directions.
"That girl is crazy." A boy said to himself.
The two were still up the tower, looking down the ledge.
Ronnie stared at the note.
"'She's the last one.', What does that mean?" Ronnie asked.
Lincoln looked over at Ronnie.
"I'm not sure." Lincoln said. "Ever since you came up, that box hasn't gone back down."
Ronnie looked at the box.
"I think it's just got everyone a little worried." Lincoln said. "Especially Sully."
Lincoln looked next to him to see Sully, Javier and the dark skinned teen looking up at them from a distance with Sully with his arms crossed.
"He's been a bit paranoid lately." Lincoln said.
Lincoln then got curious and looked at Ronnie.
"Are you sure you don't remember anything else?" Lincoln asked.
Ronnie Anne looked down before speaking.
"I remember water. Feeling like I was drowning...and these faces...staring at me." Ronnie said slowly and quietly.
Lincoln thought about this.
"Do you remember what the faces looked like?" Lincoln asked.
Ronnie looked at Lincoln.
"Kind of...they had...like...masks covering their mouths and...weird blue shirts." Ronnie explained.
Lincoln listened.
"Do the others remember anything?" Ronnie asked.
"No." Lincoln replied.
Ronnie looked at Lincoln's white hair.
"I don't mean to be uhm...nosey or anything, but uhm...why is your hair so white?" Ronnie asked.
Lincoln nodded.
"I-i don't know. Very few of us have weird colored hair. We don't know what it means." Lincoln explained.
Lincoln then pointed to Matias.
"See that kid? See how he has pink hair? He's one of the odd ones. Like me." Lincoln said.
Ronnie nodded before reaching into her pocket.
She pulled out two vials with blue liquid inside.
"These were in my pocket when I came up." Ronnie said while handing it to Lincoln.
Lincoln grabbed the vials and studied them.
He noticed the letters W, C, K and D were on both vials.
"W C K D." Lincoln said to himself.
"What does it mean?" Ronnie asked.
Lincoln looked at her.
"We don't know. Apparently, these same four letters appear in the supplies that come up from the box." Lincoln explained.
Ronnie looked at Lincoln.
"What if we were sent here for a reason?" Ronnie asked.
Lincoln studied the vials some more before widening his eyes.
He opened his mouth and looked at Ronnie Anne.
He then said one name.
"Bobby."
