This chapter was the most fun to write. I hope you enjoy. Get ready for a wild ride.
CHAPTER SEVEN - The Attack
The gladers inside the map room had no idea what was happening outside.
"I think it's a reckless plan." Sully said.
Luke hovered over the replica of the maze.
"It's our only choice." Luke said.
"Yeah, but we have to be sure." Luna said.
"We should tell Bobby." Lori said.
Suddenly, fast footsteps came outside the map room.
Mickey opened the door and stopped running. Catching his breath.
"Mickey? What are you doing here?" Aazay asked.
Mickey took a few more breaths before speaking.
"You guys need to get out here now!" Mickey said as he turned around and began running back towards the glade.
The members inside the map room looked at each other concerned.
They then began exiting the map room and jogging over.
The nine ran over back towards the glade.
Concerned voices were heard yelling, but no one could make out what they were saying.
The group got to the village and looked around.
Jordan, who was running while holding a torch caught the eye of Lincoln.
Lincoln approached her.
"Hey, Jordan, what's going on?" Lincoln asked.
Jordan quickly stopped running.
"It's the doors! They aren't closing." Jordan said worryingly.
Jordan began running towards the doors as the eight looked at them.
Gladers began jogging over to investigate the doors.
Jordan was running with Chandler, Mollie and Trent to investigate.
Javier, Jesse and Kaitlin were already at the doors.
Joey and a few other gladers Lincoln did not recognize were also jogging to investigate.
Lincoln and everyone else but Sully began running over towards the doors.
Sully glared at Lincoln before sighing and running as well.
Ronnie, Sam, Luan, Benny, Clyde, Mickey and a few other gladers joined them.
The gladers got closer to the doors.
The sky was a dark blue.
The gladers arrived at the doors.
They slowed down and stopped jogging.
The sound of the crackling fire from the torches was heard.
Everyone was completely silent.
Everyone stared at the maze inside. Quietly.
Suddenly a loud noise came from behind them, spooking everyone.
Some gladers either yelped, ducked down and covered their ears.
Everyone looked behind them.
It was another door. Opening.
Everyone looked at it, confused, scared and concerned.
Crows flew away from the door.
The same sounds the first door made were heard from the new one.
Suddenly, another loud noise came from their right.
Everyone looked over to see another door open.
A noise that is unexplainable was heard from it.
The gladers had their mouths open.
Finally, one last loud noise came from the left side.
Everyone looked over to see that door open.
Another group of gladers began running over to investigate.
Joey, Mollie, Mickey and two other gladers ran from the first group to investigate the other door.
Everyone was shocked.
Then a voice was heard.
"What the hell is going on?!" A girl with long black hair said.
Lincoln looked at her.
Her face looked scared and her hands were shaking. Not from the weight of the torch in her hand, but the nervousness she had.
Aazay looked into the maze and then looked at Clyde.
"Clyde, I want you to go to the council, alright? And start barricading the doors." Aazay said seriously.
Clyde nodded.
"Sam, you go with him." Lori ordered.
"Got it." Sam said as she and Clyde began jogging towards the council hall.
"Get the others. Tell them to go into the forest and go hide now!" Sully ordered.
Javier and Jesse nodded as they ran towards the village.
"Jordan, Lance, get Hassan to the council quickly!" Aazay said.
"Okay!" Jordan said.
Jordan and Lance turned around.
"Lynn, take Luna, Luke, Nick and Sage, get any weapon you can find, meet us at the council." Aazay said.
Lynn nodded.
"Let's go." Lynn said as she began running.
Luna, Luke, Nick and the other girl began running with her.
That girl also had odd colored hair. She had seafoam green colored hair, tan skin and a blue sweater.
"I'll tell the med-jacks to get Bobby. Kaitlin, come with me." Aazay said.
Aazay and Kaitlin began running towards the medical hut.
Suddenly, voices came from the left door.
The group looked over to see the other group of gladers running away from it.
They were shouting "Run!" and "Grievers!".
Everyone backed up.
Suddenly, a large screech came from the door next to them.
Everyone looked over and saw two grievers.
Lori shouted.
"EVERYONE! HIDE!" Lori yelled.
Lincoln, Ronnie, Luan, Benny, Chandler, Matias and a young dark skinned girl began running towards the corn fields.
Lori joined them.
The rest of the gladers with them turned around and ran towards the village and the council hall.
The group ran as fast as they could towards the cornfields.
Luan and Benny were in the front, Matias was behind them. The dark skinned girl was behind Matias. Lincoln and Ronnie were behind her, Lori was behind them and Chandler was behind Lori.
The screams of gladers filled the glade.
Everyone crouched down in the corn field.
Chandler looked behind him.
Lori shushed them.
The group was completely silent.
There was only one torch with them. The young, dark skinned girl held it.
Suddenly, a males scream came from behind them as a snatching sound came immediately after.
The group quickly looked over.
It was somewhere in the cornfield.
The echoed screams of gladers were heard.
The sky was pitch black.
Lincoln looked up and heard a weird clanking and metallic noise.
He followed the noise with his head and saw it was a griever tail, hovering over Chandler.
He tried to warn him but was too shocked.
Suddenly, the griever tail snatched onto Chandler's back.
Chandler yelped as he was violently pummeled down by the griever tail.
Everyone turned towards him.
"Chandler!" Lori yelled as she tried grabbing him.
But she was too late.
The griever yanked Chandler away as his echoed scream went through their ears.
"Oh my god!" Luan screamed.
The young, dark skinned girl had a terrified expression on her face.
Lincoln was shocked.
Lori turned around towards them.
"Go! Go! Get to the village!" Lori yelled.
Everyone quickly got up and turned around and began running through the cornfield. In the exact same order, but this time, without Chandler.
Sully ran up to the box and opened the gates.
"Go! Go! Go!" Sully yelled.
Colton jumped inside, followed by Javier and Jesse.
Sully then jumped inside and closed the gates.
All four were hiding inside the box.
The screams and screeches of both gladers and grievers were heard.
"Shh. Shh. Stay down! Stay down!" Sully quietly whispered.
Colton's torch was the only light source.
The four stood quietly.
Jesse looked up which caused the other three to look up too.
A young boy with a green shirt and ginger hair came up to the box.
"SULLY! LET ME IN! LET ME IN!" The boy yelled.
Sully got up and tried opening the gates to the box.
But he was too late.
A griever came out of nowhere and snatched the boy away.
Sully got down as the boy's scream echoed.
The four inside the box looked at each other.
The seven arrived at the village.
Lori, who was behind them, saw Bobby, being escorted by Carol, Francisco, Kaitlin and Aazay.
The seven approached them.
Even more screams were heard in the distance.
"What's going on?!" Bobby yelled.
Lori looked at him.
"They are here." Lori said.
"Okay, we need to get you to the-" Aazay was cut off by a scream.
They looked over to see the girl with the long black hair that was nervous before, get pummeled to the ground by a griever and violently stung in the distance.
The group backed up from this sight.
Lori grabbed a machete that was tied to a tree.
"Lori, what's the plan?" Carol asked.
Suddenly a voice came from behind them.
"It's got me!" The voice said.
It came from the same blue hoodied boy Michael was fighting at the party.
A griever snatched onto his leg and dragged him away as he screamed.
The group backed up.
"EVERYONE! GET TO THE COUNCIL!" Lori yelled.
A grievers screech was heard.
The group looked over to see an older female glader with poofy, blonde hair get pummeled to the ground by a griever and stung.
Another scream was heard.
The group looked over to see Michael get tossed to the ground.
Michael looked at the group.
Michael was then stung in the heart.
Bobby was broken. The kids and teens he practically raised for five years were being killed left and right.
"EVERYBODY! RUN! GO!" Lori yelled.
The twelve began running away from the village and towards the council hall.
The group got farther away from the village.
Suddenly, a griever smashed through the kitchen, destroying it and faced the group.
Everyone stopped running and some fell.
The griever screeched and snapped its tail.
Ronnie looked at a candle inside a glass jar.
Ronnie grabbed it and tossed it at the griever.
The griever screeched in pain as the 'molotov' made contact and ignited it in flames.
"Go! Go!" Lori said as she pushed the group.
The group ran towards the council hall.
The griever shook off the flames and began to chase with them.
A bunch of screams were heard.
The group looked over while running.
It came from the tower.
A total of 5 grievers knocked the tower down which had a bunch of gladers on it.
The gladers fell down as the tower fell.
The grievers began to surround them.
The group kept running towards the council hall.
Lincoln looked behind him and noticed the young, dark skinned girl was falling behind.
She tried her best to run and catch up.
The girl looked to her right and screamed as another griever came from that direction and snatched her away.
"OH SHIT!" Francisco yelled as he looked behind him.
No one had stopped running.
"KEEP GOING!" Lori yelled.
Bobby tried his best to run, but he ended up tripping and falling.
"Bobby!" Carol yelled.
Everyone stopped running.
Carol and Aazay picked him up.
The griever who was chasing them stopped and growled at the group.
Lori held out a machete towards it.
"Stay behind me!" Lori yelled.
The griever was about to pounce, but a bunch of spears hit the side of it.
The griever screeched in pain.
The group looked over to see Lynn, Luna, Luke, Nick and the seafoam green haired girl running towards the council.
"Get inside!" Luke yelled.
The group turned around and began running towards the council.
Clyde held a lantern and stood outside the council hall.
"OVER HERE! COME ON!" Clyde yelled.
Sam held the door open so that gladers could get in.
The group began entering the council hall one by one.
Lincoln entered the council hall and noticed lots of gladers hiding inside.
Lori entered the council hall.
Sam entered the council hall before Lori shut the door.
"Lock the door!" Aazay said.
Joey and two other gladers ran up to the door and barricaded it with wooden logs.
They backed away as the griever approached the council hall.
The griever growled as it tried entering the council hall.
Everyone was silent and stared at the grievers' shadow.
Lincoln looked around to see who was inside the council hall.
He saw Lynn, Luna, Luke, Bobby, Lori, Aazay, Carol, Francisco, Nick, Ronnie, Jordan, Mollie, Matias, Clyde, Sam, Luan, Benny, Kaitlin, Trent, Hassan, Lance and around 10 other gladers he did not recognize.
Suddenly the griever jumped onto the roof of the council hall, which caused it to shake.
Some gladers yelped and jumped.
"Watch out." Aazay whispered.
The griever began scratching and walking on the roof. The griever knows there are tons of enemies inside and it will do anything to get them.
The gladers inside began slowly walking to the opposite side of where the griever was on the roof.
Lance didn't know how to push Hassan's wheelchair without making noise, but he had to move, the griever was directly above the two.
Lance breathed and began pushing Hassan.
The wheelchair hit a metal bowl on the floor which made a loud noise.
The gladers inside the council looked over.
The two looked down at the bowl, before looking up.
The griever's tail suddenly crashed down into the council hall.
The griever's tail grabbed onto a large wooden log holding the roof together.
The griever's tail then pulled the log down.
The roof began opening down.
The gladers backed away and ducked.
Lance shielded Hassan with his back as the roof collapsed onto the gladers.
The gladers fell down and were covered in debris.
The gladers coughed from the dust.
Aazay got up and looked around.
"Is everyone alright?"
Lincoln was covered in debris.
Lincoln managed to pull himself from the debris.
Suddenly, a voice came from behind him.
"HELP!" The voice said.
Lincoln turned around and saw Carol, stuck under debris.
She lent her hand out towards Lincoln.
"Grab her!" Francisco yelled.
Lincoln grabbed her hand.
"HELP!" Carol yelled again.
Lynn ran up towards the two and began pulling Carol.
Suddenly, Carol was yanked away by the griever.
The two backed away as the sound of the sting was loudly heard.
Carol's scream echoed through the now collapsed council hall.
"CAROL!" Francisco yelled.
The griever crawled towards the other side of the council hall.
"Get away from there!" Lori yelled.
The griever scratched the walls.
Two gladers Lincoln did not recognize were unable to move out of the way as the griever's tail punched through the wall, causing the two gladers to fall down.
The first glader got up and ran away instantly as the second one put on his glasses that fell off as he ran away.
The griever's tail clanked.
"CLYDE! MOVE!" Lori yelled.
Clyde was right in the path of the tail.
Clyde screamed as he turned around and tried to run.
He was unsuccessful.
The griever tail grabbed Clyde and tried pulling him away from a hole in the roof.
"Grab him!" Luna yelled.
Lincoln, Luna, Luke and Aazay grabbed onto Clyde's arms.
"Clyde! Don't let go!" Lincoln yelled.
The four struggled to pull him down.
The griever's tail got its stinger ready and aimed at Clyde's back.
Bobby looked down at Lori's machete, which dropped from the collapse.
The four kept trying to pull him away from the griever as the other gladers watched in horror.
Bobby picked up the machete and looked at the griever's tail.
He was done seeing his fellow gladers die.
His heart was filled with rage.
Bobby screamed as he charged at the griever tail with the machete.
The griever screeched and dropped Clyde. The four pulled him away from the tail.
Bobby kept hitting the griever tail with the machete.
Bobby targeted the stinger.
Eventually, the stinger fell off and the griever's tail slithered away from the council hall as Bobby gave it one last hit.
Bobby screamed at it to scare it away.
The griever yelled.
"Clyde, are you okay?" Sam asked.
"I think so." Clyde said.
Clyde looked at Bobby.
"Thanks, Bobby." Clyde said.
Suddenly, the same clanking and metallic noise was heard.
Aazay looked over at Bobby.
"BOBBY! LOOK OUT!" Aazay yelled as he ran over.
Bobby looked back and barely got a step in before the griever tail grabbed him.
Bobby was yanked up.
The machete fell from his hands.
Bobby grabbed onto a small part of the roof.
Aazay grabbed his other hand.
Lori ran over.
Bobby looked at him.
"Aazay! LET GO!" Bobby ordered.
"WHAT?!" Aazay replied, still pulling.
"Aazay! PROTECT THEM! FOREVER!" Bobby said.
Aazay's eyes widened as Bobby was yanked away from his hands.
The gladers screamed in horror.
"NOOO!" Aazay screamed.
"BOBBY!" Lori yelled.
Aazay grabbed the machete and ran outside.
"AAZAY? WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" Luke yelled.
Aazay kicked down the door and rushed outside.
Aazay walked around the council hall to see the same griever that snatched Bobby running back into the maze.
"COME BACK HERE!" Aazay said.
The griever ignored it and took Bobby's body into the maze.
The other grievers retreated.
"FUCK YOU!" Aazay screamed.
The other gladers followed outside.
Aazay stopped running.
He then looked behind him and saw a massive fire at the medical hut.
Not a single glader was in sight.
Everyone stared at the aftermath quietly.
Everyone had now exited the council hall and looked in the distance.
Four silhouettes approached them.
Lincoln looked over and saw it was Sully, Javier, Jesse and Colton.
Sully walked fast towards the group as the other three walked behind him.
Sully approached Lincoln.
His face looked furious.
Lincoln backed away as Sully closed his fist.
"THIS IS YOUR FUCKING FAULT!" Sully yelled.
Suddenly Luke pushed him away.
"Back off!" Luke yelled.
Sully tried pushing through him but Luna jumped in and shoved him away.
Sully tried getting to Lincoln, but he was being held back.
"THIS IS ALL YOU LINCOLN! LOOK AROUND!" Sully said as he tried getting to Lincoln.
Lincoln backed up.
"Back up dude! It's not Lincoln's fault!" Luna yelled.
"I TRIED WARNING ALL OF YOU OF THIS BUT NONE OF YOU LISTENED! NOW LOOK WHAT HAPPENED! THIS IS YOUR FAULT LINCOLN! YOUR FAULT!" Sully yelled.
Lincoln strayed further from the chaos.
Ronnie followed him.
Lincoln stopped.
"He's right…" Lincoln said.
Ronnie stopped.
"What?" Ronnie said.
"This is my fault. I...did all of this…" Lincoln said.
"Lincoln! This isn't your fault!" Ronnie replied.
Suddenly, a large pain came from Lincoln's arm.
Lincoln yelped as he grabbed his arm.
He looked at it and saw that the bite was purple.
Lincoln began breathing loudly from the pain.
"Lincoln?" Ronnie said.
Lincoln's vision began to get blurry as his eyes began shutting.
"Lincoln!" Ronnie said as Lincoln fell to the ground.
The other gladers looked behind them.
Aazay, Lori, Clyde, Francisco, Luna and Luke ran over.
Sully stopped shouting and stood shocked at the scene.
The group surrounded him trying to wake him up.
"What happened?" Luke shouted.
"He had some sort of bite on his arm! Then he fell!" Ronnie replied back.
Lincoln took his final breath before his eyes closed completely.
I hope you enjoyed that chapter. The grievers had attacked the glade and Sully was right all along!
