Ember and her friends have finally arrived in Celadon City where Ember will get her next gym badge. They went to the Pokémon center to get their Pokémon check out and some rest. After that, they went off to find the gym.
Ember looked around, "This is a nice city. Even the skyscrapers are impressive." She then stopped, noticing an interesting fragrance. Brock and Misty also caught the scent.
"That smells really good." Misty said.
Ember nodded, "Yeah."
"(Where's it coming from?)" Lucario asked.
Brock started to follow where the smell came from.
"Wait, Brock! Where you going?" Ember asked and looked to the others. "Let's go."
Then they followed after the breeder only to find him leaning his face against a window of a store like a pervert. Ember, Misty, and the Pokémon sighed at this and entered the store.
"It smells amazing." Misty said and three workers that were talking to each other, turned to them and smiled.
"Welcome." one of them with the green hair greeted.
"Hello." Ember greeted back. Then a thought came to her, "Maybe I should get some perfume for mom while I'm here since her birthday is coming up." Ember suggested.
"(I sure that she would love some)." Lucario said.
"Would you like to try a perfume?" one of them with the blonde hair asked.
"Yes, please." Misty replied before she sat down.
Ember looked along the shelves, seeing all the different types and smells of perfumes.
Then she sighed in defeat. "I didn't think that finding the right perfume would be so hard."
"(Indeed. I never knew there were so many scents.)" Lucario commented.
"May I help you?" said a voice behind Ember.
Ember turned round and saw a woman with green eyes in a traditional kimono and hair behind her. She knew that this is woman was Erika of the Celadon city gym.
"Actually yes," Ember scratched her cheek sheepishly, "You see I wish to buy some perfume for my mum because it's her birthday soon, and she likes perfume. But I'm totally clueless about perfume."
The woman smiled, "I will gladly help. Now what does your mum like?"
"Gardening," Ember replied, "She loves tendering to her garden."
"Then you need a perfume with Garden Scents," She turned to the ladies who were helping Misty. "Please help this girl with the perfumes of Garden Scents."
The ladies looked at Ember and helped her right away. They showed all sorts of garden scented perfumes. Ember sniffed them one by one, until she finally found the one she was looking for.
"This one!" Ember said happily, "The Wild Flower Garden."
Tesla sniffed the perfume, "Rai (Smells lovely)."
"(Lovely indeed)." Lucario agreed as he sniffed.
"Just like my mum's garden." Ember smiled.
Ember bought the perfume and Erika wrapped it up for her.
"By the way, do you know where I can find the Celadon city gym?" Ember asked.
"Why yes, I do." Erika gave her the directions on where to find it.
"Thank you very much. Also thank you for the perfume." Ember thanked her before leaving the store with her Pokémon.
Ember sent the perfume to her mother by post and then she, Lucario, and Tesla went to find Celadon Gym. Celadon Gym looked like a giant green house and the roof was in a design of the petals of a Gloom. When Ember and her Pokémon were inside, they saw different flowers and trees everywhere.
"(Wow, it's like a greenhouse.)" Lucario commented.
"Well Celadon Gym Leader uses Grass-type Pokémon," Ember informed, "It's no wonder that this gym is more like a greenhouse."
Tesla nodded, "Rai."
They saw a lady at a reception desk and Ember asked her if she could battle the gym leader.
"Of course," The lady said, "I'll take you to Erika right now."
"Thank you." Ember nodded.
The lady led Ember to where the gym battlefield was. Not only was the room filled with trees, flowers and grass, it was also filled with grass Pokémon; Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Exeggcute, Exeggutor and Tangela and also a Bulbasur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur. She even saw Misty and Brock with the ladies that worked at the perfume store.
"Wow." Ember said, amazed. "So many Grass-types."
"Erika," The lady called out to Erika, "this young lady wish to battle you."
Erika who now wore a green and white dress, stood up and turned around. "Welcome. Ah I remember you," Erika smiled, "I take it you're here to challenge me then?"
"Yes I am," Ember nodded, "I'm Ember Ketchum by the way."
"Well Ember," Erika said, "As the perfume store manager and Celadon City's gym leader, I accept your challenge."
"This will be a battle between Erika the gym leader and Ember Ketchum the challenger," Erika's assistant announced, "This will also be three vs three Pokémon battle. Whoever knocks out the most Pokémon first wins."
Lucario, Tesla, Brock, Misty, and the ladies were watching from the side lines. Some of the Grass Pokémon were watching too.
"Battle begin!"
"Okay," Erika said, "Go Tangela!"
What looked a bush of vines, with two big eyes came out of Erika's Pokéball.
Ember scanned Tangela on her phone:
[Tangela, the vine Pokémon. Its body is wrapped in vines. The rest of its form is hidden beneath these vines.]
"Raboot, I choose you!" Ember released Raboot.
"Raboot." Raboot appeared on the field.
"Even though you are using a Fire-Type Ember, don't think that you have won yet." Erika smiled, "Tangela, use Vine Whip!"
Tangela shot out two vines, ready to hit Raboot.
"Use Quick Attack to dodge and use Ember Attack!" Ember countered.
Raboot's Quick Attack got him away from the Vine Whip jumped out of the way and he picked up a pebble with his foot and kicked the pebble, which set it on fire as it flew toward Tangela. The pebble exploded when it hit Tangela which made it cry out in pain.
"Tangela are you alright?!" Erika cried out.
"Tang-Tangela (I-I'm okay)." Tangela said.
"Use Stun Spore." Erika ordered.
A yellow powder came off Tangela and headed for Raboot.
"Use Agility to dodge and then Fire Blast!" Ember countered.
Raboot dodged the Stun Spore before it could paralyze him and created a ball of fire from the flames in his hands and fired it at the orange powder, getting rid of it, and hit Tangela as well. Tangela couldn't take another fire attack and fainted.
"Tangela!" Erika cried out.
"Tangela is unable to battle! The match goes to Raboot!" Erika's assistant announced.
"Well done, Raboot!" Ember cheered.
Raboot turned to Ember and raised his hand and nodded. Ember smiled at that.
Erika returned Tangela and smiled, "You did very well Tangela, now get some well deserved rest." She brought out another Pokéball from her sleeve and tossed it in the air, "Weepinbell, its your turn now!" out came the plant eating like Pokémon.
"Raboot, return!" Ember returned Raboot back into his Pokéball, "Braixen, I choose you!"
"Braixen!" Braixen was released and got ready to fight.
"Weepinbell, use Razor Leaf." Erika ordered.
Weepinbell shot out a lot of leaves.
"Use, Light Screen!" Ember ordered.
Braixen summoned a visible screen that blocked the razor leaf attack.
"Now use Heat Wave!" Braixen's created a ball of orange fire from her stick then releases a wind of flames at Weepinbell burning it into unconsciousness.
"Weepinbell is unable to battle! The match goes to Braixen!" Erika's assistant announced.
"Weepinbell, return now." Erika said, returning Weepinbell back into its Pokéball.
The ladies on the side line watched in amazement.
"Wow, she already defeated two of Erika's Pokémon." Misty smiled.
"Just one more and she'll win the badge." Brock said.
"(She'll definitely win.)" Lucario smiled.
"Wow Ember is good." One complimented.
"I know, her Fire-types are very strong." Another commented.
"Great job, Braixen." Ember complimented her fire type.
Braixen came over to her and hugged her as she smiled, "Braixen, Brai (Thank you, Ember)!" Ember hugged her back.
"Okay, how about some rest? Natsu deserves a turn to battle, right?" Ember asked.
Braixen nodded, "Braixen! (Okay!)"
"Braixen, return." Ember returned Braixen to her Pokéball, "Natsu, I choose you!"
"Char!" Natsu stood ready to fight.
"I must say Ember," Erika said, "You're an impressive trainer. But this gym battle is not over yet. Go, Gloom!"
A Grass Pokémon, with drool coming out of its mouth appeared.
Ember looked at the phone:
[Gloom, the weed Pokémon. The evolved form of Oddish. It gives off a powerful aroma that can cause those to smell it to faint from two miles away.]
Ember winced at the Pokémon.
'Oh boy,' Ember thought, 'This will be tough.'
"Battle begin!"
"Okay Natsu, let's finish quickly," Ember said, "Use Ember Attack!"
Natsu launched fireballs from his mouth, but Gloom dodged the attack.
"Quick Gloom, use Petal Dance!" Erika said.
A spiraling whirl of petals shot out of Gloom's petals and twirled towards Natsu.
"Use Fire Spin and then Heat Wave, Natsu!" Ember countered.
A spiraling whirl of flames shot out of Natsu's mouth and burnt the petals and struck Gloom, followed by a ball of fire which struck Gloom again. Gloom couldn't stand another fire attack and fainted.
"Gloom is unable to battle! The match goes to Charmander! This winner of this battle goes to Ember Ketchum of Pallet Town!" Erika's assistant announced.
Ember jumped up as Natsu jumped into her arms. She stroked his head, "We did it! Thank you, Natsu."
"Char char! (Thank you, Ember!)" Natsu smiled.
Ember thanked Natsu once more and returned him to his Pokéball. Then she saw Erika tending to her Gloom.
"Is Gloom okay?" Ember asked, worriedly.
"Oh don't worry." Erika assured her with a smile.
"Heartwarming, but what's that smell?" a familiar annoying female voice spoke and everyone looked to where it was coming from. Team Rocket were standing on top of the building, looking down at all of them. "Your Pokémon skills is stinking up this Gym even more then Gloom." Jessie insulted.
"It's Team Rocket!" Misty yelled.
Jessie jumped to the floor, "To protect the world from devastation."
James jumped to the floor, "To unite all people's within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extended our reaches to the stars above."
"Jessie."
"James."
Meowth jumped over, holding a box, "And last and not least, to blast this dump to the sky high."
Meowth pressed a button.
Suddenly an explosion happened under them, making them blast up to the sky, just in time to see Jessie was holding a bottle before they all disappeared into the sky.
They watched as the explosion created a fire around.
"Quick, girls! We got to rescue all the Pokémon!" one of the workers ordered as everyone ran around to get the Pokémon.
"Let's go." Ember said.
Ember and her friends ran outside and turned to the Gym to see the fire started to spread around. Everyone was pouring water on the building and Ember turned to Misty, "Misty! Get your water Pokémon."
"Got it," Misty nodded as Ember pulled out Squirtle and Kingler's Pokéballs,
"Squirtle, Kingler, use Water Gun!" Ember threw the Pokéballs and let Squirtle and Kingler out, who quickly used Water Gun on the building, helping to put the fire out.
Misty threw her Pokéballs, "Staryu, Starmie, Vaporeon, Mudkip, Lapras, Cloyster, Dewgong, help us out!"
All of the Water Pokémon stood together, all using Water Gun on the building.
Brock threw a Pokéball, "Geodude, threw as much dirt as you can on the flames."
Geodude was released, quickly went to do as was told. Ember looked at all of the Water Pokémon.
"You guys doing great." Ember complimented.
"Keep it up guys." Misty encouraged.
"We almost got it!" Brock said.
Then they saw Erika running around, looking worried.
"Erika? What's wrong?" Ember asked as she reached closer.
"I've looked everywhere, but I can't find Gloom." Erika said.
"Did Gloom get out?" Brock asked.
"What if Gloom... what if Gloom is still inside?!" Erika asked as she looked at the burning building. She ran toward it but Misty grabbed her.
"Erika, no!" Misty called out. "You can't go in there!"
"But Gloom maybe trapped inside." Erika protested.
Ember ran toward the building before anyone could stop her, "I'll go in and find Gloom!" She called. Then Lucario followed after her.
"Ember! Lucario!" Misty shouted worriedly but Ember and Lucario already ran in.
Ember and Lucario ran into the lobby part of the building.
"Lucario, can you use your Aura sense to find Gloom?" Ember asked.
"(Leave it to me.)" Lucario closed his eyes and concentrated. A few seconds later, "(I know where to find Gloom.)"
"Alright, lead the way." Ember said.
Then the two ran towards where Gloom was. When they found Gloom, it was in the grass part of the battle field, frightened. Ember and Lucario quickly ran over to it. Gloom smiled in relief at both of them.
"Don't worry, we'll get you out of here, Gloom." Ember calmly assured the grass type Pokémon and picked it up. "Let's get out of here."
Lucario nodded and they left the burning battle field.
They soon reached the outside of the burning gym where everyone was waiting for them.
"Ember! Lucario!" Brock and Misty yelled.
"Rai!" Tesla shouted.
"You're all right!" Brock said in relief.
"Don't worry, we got out okay. Thanks to Lucario." Ember thanked Lucario.
"(Thank you, Ember.)" Lucario smiled.
"Thank you, Ember, Lucario!" Erika said as Ember handed Gloom into Erika's arms, "Oh, Gloom, I was so worried, are you okay?"
Gloom nodded as it smiled.
It took some time, but they all got control on the fire and managed to put it out. It was morning when they all stood near the building.
"We're sorry about your Gym, Erika." Ember apologized.
"As long as everyone is safe, that doesn't matter, we can build it again," Erika assured before she turned to Ember with a smile as she held out a Rainbow Badge to her, "With deep gratitude, I present you the Rainbow Badge."
"Are you sure, Erika?" Ember asked.
"Well you did beat me in our gym battle and you and Lucario saved Gloom. I think you earned it, don't you, Gloom?" Erika asked.
Gloom nodded happily
Ember smiled, "Thanks a lot."
She took the Badge and showed it to Lucario and Tesla, "Take a look, Tesla, Lucario, a Rainbow Badge."
Tesla and Lucario smiled.
"Rai, Rai-chu!" Tesla said before she and Lucario shared a smile with Gloom.
"Congratulations, Ember." Brock complimented.
"Thanks," Ember said with a smile before frowning as she looked at Erika, "But what about Team Rocket? They got away with your secret perfume formula."
Erika chuckled, "No they didn't. The bottle they stole, has only one of our perfume secret ingredient; scents of Gloom."
Ember, Tesla, Lucario, and everyone began to laugh at the possible reaction of Team Rocket getting the scents of Gloom. Ember already knew that Team Rocket was surprised and horrified by the smell of it.
After saying goodbye to Erika and her workers, and Gloom, the gang headed to the Pokémon Center to get some more rest and for Ember to check up on her Pokémon. After the check up, Ember sent Raboot, Braixen, Kingler, Squirtle back to the coral for some more rest after the training and battle they just had. Then she added Scyther and her Nidoran couple to her party.
The next morning, the gang headed out to Fushsia City where Ember's next gym battle is.
