As the gang were walking in a new city, they were looking around at the huge buildings around.
"Geez, it's sort of feels like the buildings closing in on us." Ember commented.
"Yeah, they are all so tall and you can hardly see the sky." Misty agreed.
"Where are we, Brock?" Ember asked their friend, who was holding the map.
"Uh... Hop Hop Hop Town." Brock answered.
"Hop Hop Hop? Is that really a name?" Ember asked.
Then suddenly Lucario stopped in his tracks and looked around him.
"Is something wrong, Lucario?" Ember asked.
"(I'm sensing something weird in the air)," Lucario replied, "(I don't know what, but something doesn't feel right in this city.)"
Just then they heard a woman shouting, "Arnold!"
They went to see what was wrong. The woman explained that her son Arnold was missing and had been missing for three whole days. "My son isn't the only one who's missing." She pointed to a wall that had a long row of pictures of children. "See those posters?" the woman asked, "Those are pictures of all the children that disappeared."
"That many?" Misty asked, surprised.
"This must be a pretty dangerous town." Ember muttered. 'Lucario is right, something is not right about this city.'
Even though she remembers this episode, she didn't like the feeling in the air. It made her very uncomfortable.
Misty smiled as she placed her hands on her cheeks, "My pictures will be on posters, when I'll be a big famous star."
Ember, Brock, and the Pokémon looked at her in confusion. Misty gave them look. "Excuse me?!" She snapped.
Ember chuckled as she petted Tesla and Lucario on the head, "Maybe in horror movies."
"Rai-chu (Definitely)." Tesla agreed.
This situation reminded Ember of her own mother. She wondered how she was doing. She could only imagine how worried her own mother is probably being while Ember was on her journey. Maybe she should give her mother a call after the situation is over with.
Then they heard a motorcycle by and looked over to see Officer Jenny stopping her motorcycle near the wall. She had a few posters on the motorcycle. She got off of her motorcycle and walked to the wall to put another poster on it. Ember stood up and looked towards the woman.
"We'll see if we can help with anything to find your son and the others." Ember assured her.
The woman smiled a small smile, "Thank you."
Ember nodded and ran over to Officer Jenny with Brock and Misty following.
"Excuse me, are you the cousin cousin of Officer Jenny from Maiden's Peak?" Ember asked, making sure that it was the right one.
"Why yes, I am." Officer Jenny smiled.
"This one the most beautiful one yet." Brock said in a daze with blushed cheeks.
"They're all exactly alike." Misty stated with a flat expression.
Brock pushed Ember aside and stood in front of Officer Jenny, "It must be terrible to search for all those lost children." He took her hand, "I will be very happy to help you search."
"What?" Officer Jenny asked in confusion.
"We can both work together hand in hand." Brock suggested. Officer Jenny gave him a look as she pulled her hand from his grip.
Ember pushed Brock aside and turned to Officer Jenny with a small smile, "Excuse my friend, Officer Jenny. My friends and I would like to help in the search for the kids." She said.
"Well... just don't get in the way." Officer Jenny warned.
"You got it." Ember agreed.
The gang and Officer Jenny were walking down town.
"All of the missing children disappeared exactly three days ago." Officer Jenny explained.
"Three days ago?" Ember asked.
"Besides that, did the missing children had anything else in common?" Brock asked.
"That's a good question." Ember muttered.
"They don't have a thing in common." Officer Jenny answered sadly, "But I think other kids may know something about it."
She looked to the side as they stopped and followed her gaze to the Pokémon Center.
"I see. So we'll ask the kids in the Pokémon Center if they know anything." Brock suggested.
They all walked inside and Officer Jenny turned to the gang. She handed them a poster with all the missing children.
"You go ask Nurse Joy about the kids." She handed three more posters like those to Brock, Misty, and Ember.
"Okay," Ember said before starting to walk toward the counter with Tesla and Lucario. They walked toward Nurse Joy.
"Excuse me, Nurse Joy, can I ask you something?" Ember asked.
"Of course." Nurse Joy answered with a smile.
Ember held up the poster, "We're here about the missing children."
Nurse Joy's smile faded away, "Oh, those kids that disappeared all of a sudden. I saw it on the news." She said.
"Please, is there's anything you can tell us about these children?" Ember asked.
"I'd like to help you, but right now, I'm afraid my hands are full with our own mystery." Nurse Joy replied.
"What do you mean? What's the matter?" Ember questioned.
"All of the Pokémon here at the Center are behaving very strangely." She stated.
Ember and her Pokémon looked at her in confusion.
Nurse Joy had took the gang and Officer Jenny to a room, and showed them a few Pokémon that were there. A Cubone and an Oddish were lying on the table, both of them were out of their energy.
"Just look at Cubone. And Oddish," Nurse Joy said and put a very tired Magikarp on the table, "Even Magikarp was affected. And it usually full of life."
"The Magic disappeared." Misty observed.
"I've never seen a Magikarp like that," Ember tilted my head, "Then again I've never seeing a Magikarp like mine."
Nurse Joy looked over her shoulder at a tired Charmander, "The flame on this Charmander could go out any minute." She took a Psyduck into her arms, "And this one been in just terrible shape."
"A Psyduck?" Ember pulled out her phone and held it in front of Psyduck.
[Psyduck, a Water Pokémon. Uses mysterious powers to perform various attacks.]
"Mysterious powers?" Ember asked as she lowered her phone.
"That's hard to believe." Misty commented.
"So what's causing all of this?" Brock questioned.
Nurse Joy shook her head, "I have no idea."
"How long have they been acting like this?" Ember asked.
"Since three days ago." Nurse Joy answered.
"Three days?" Brock repeated and we looked at Officer Jenny. "And that's exactly when all those children disappeared." He said.
"I wonder if maybe there's something in connected between the children disappearing and the Pokémon lack of energy." Officer Jenny said with her arms crossed over her chest.
"I think there might be one, but we just haven't figured it out." Ember stated.
She wanted to say that it was because of Hypno, but Officer Jenny would be suspicious of her. She already had two Officer Jenny's that accused her of something, she didn't need another one right now.
Officer Jenny opened her mouth to reply before they all heard a noise coming from her pocket.
"Is that your radio?" Misty asked.
Officer Jenny pulled out her radio, "It's picking up something."
"I bet I know what that is," Brock said as he leaned closer to her, "A Handsome Guy Detector."
"Don't kid yourself," Officer Jenny pushed Brock away, "This is a Sleep Wave detector." She answered.
"A Sleep Wave detector?" Brock repeated.
"Lately, I've been picking up some Sleep Waves." Officer Jenny told them.
"But I'm sure there's no Pokémon that can make waves like that in this Center." Nurse Joy stated.
"They're from outside." Officer Jenny said.
Right after she said that, both Lucario fell to his knees and Tesla fell on the table.
"Lucario?! Tesla?!" Ember exclaimed as she held Lucario before he could fall forward.
"Oh, no, even Lucario and Tesla lost their energy." Misty said, worried.
"I wonder if those Sleep Waves, and the Pokémon's condition are..." Brock trailed off.
"Yeah." Officer Jenny said with a nod.
"They maybe connected." Ember returned Lucario to his Pokéball and took Tesla into her arms.
Officer Jenny looked at the radio, "We should go find the source of those Sleep Waves."
Ember and her friends nodded and they walked away with Officer Jenny. They walked outside and followed the signal from the radio.
They stopped at a very huge building after a few minutes.
"It's coming from this building." Officer Jenny said.
"Wow, it's so tall." Ember commented.
"It seems to be coming from the roof." Officer Jenny observed.
"Let's go." Brock decided and they ran inside. They went to an elevator and headed up to the roof, as the signal was getting stronger.
They reached up to the very top and walked out of the elevator to be greeted by a door that leads to the roof. They walked closer and opened it. The roof had a garden and at the end there was a mansion.
"What the..." Misty trailed off, "A mansion?"
Officer Jenny pointed the radio toward the mansion, "It's coming from inside there."
"All right." Brock said and ran toward the mansion.
"Wait, Brock!" Ember called but he took off. They watched as he reached to the door and kneeled down before signaling for them to come. They ran over and reached toward him.
"Someone's inside, I'm going in." Brock said before he stood up. He pushed the door open and ran in. Officer Jenny, Misty and Ember followed in only to stop in shock.
There were many people that were well dressed, and a Drowzee and a Hypno sitting on a round table.
"What is this place?" Brock asked.
"What's going on here?" Misty asked.
A man with glasses and brown hair walked toward them, "Are you new members?"
"Members?" Ember asked.
"We've been monitoring some Sleep Waves, coming from up here." Officer Jenny informed.
"Sleep Waves?" the man asked before he smiled, "Oh, I know!" He looked at Hypno, "This Hypno must be emitting them."
Ember pulled out her phone, "Hypno?"
[Hypno, a Hypnosis Pokémon. It carries a pendulum-like device and performs hypnotic attacks.]
"And what's that next to it?" Misty asked.
"That's Drowzee." Ember pointed her phone at it.
[Drowzee. Said to be a descendant of the dream-eating tapir. It was the first Pokémon to use a combination attack like Hypnosis and Dream Eater.]
"Hypno is the evolved form of Drowzee." Ember said.
"That's right," the man nodded, "Our Drowzee finally evolved into Hypno, three days ago."
They looked at him in shock.
"Three days ago?" Brock asked.
"I knew it, that's just when those children vanished, and the Pokémon started to lose all their energy." Officer Jenny said.
"We've been using the Pokémon instead using sleeping medicine." An older man with grey hair spoke.
"What do you mean 'we'?" Misty asked.
"The members of 'Pokémon Lover's Club'." the man with the glasses replied.
"The Pokémon Lover's Club?" Misty asked.
"Precisely. You see all of our members absolutely adore Pokémon, and, Drowzee and Hypno have became our favorite Pokémon," the man explained, "Everyone's hard work payed off when Drowzee finally evolved. Living our lives in the city is very stressful, and all of our members suffered from insomniacs, so we come to rely on Hypno's powers to get us to sleep in nights."
They watched as a man with grey hair sat in front of Hypno, who then held it's pendulum in front of the man, swinging it back and forth until the man fell asleep.
"I'm glad for you," Ember stated, "But I think your Hypno's hypnotism is causing trouble around the city."
The man in glasses looked at them in shock as Ember showed him Tesla.
"Just take a look at Tesla." Ember said who was sleeping in her arms.
"The same thing happen to all of the Pokémon in the Pokémon Center." Misty added.
"It must be a..." the man trailed off.
"A side affect." Brock finished.
"Side affect?" Ember asked.
Brock nodded, "Hypno's hypnotic powers are used usually only on other Pokémon. Since the wave changed to affect humans, it's creating a side affect for the Pokémon."
The man looked over at Hypno as he spoke, "Somehow we accidently caused a terrible situation."
"You know what? I bet that new wave can even affect some kids that were sensitive to it, too." Brock theorized.
"I think so too." Ember agreed.
Misty walked toward the table and got in front of Hypno, "Let's see."
"Wait Misty!" Ember called out.
Hypno held it's pendulum in front of Misty, swinging it back and forth. They all walked closer and watched as Misty suddenly sat on the floor and clapping her hands. "Seel, Seel, Seel, Seel!" She said.
Ember facepalmed, "Oh no. She got hypnotized."
Misty suddenly stood up, and ran past them outside.
"Misty! Come back!" Ember cried out.
Ember quickly put Tesla into her Pokéball and got Drowzee on her back. Then she, Brock, Officer Jenny and the head of the club ran after her.
Misty ran to the door and they ran after he only to see she was running down the stairs.
"Misty!" Ember called but she didn't respond.
"Come on." Officer Jenny ushered and they took the elevator.
Once they reached to the lobby they saw Misty running outside, and quickly followed her.
"How did she get down the stairs so fast?!" Brock exclaimed.
"Faster!" Ember ordered as they ran after her into a park.
"How can she ran this fast?" Ember panted.
They suddenly stopped, breathing heavily as they found Misty by the lake, but what shocked them all was that all the missing kids were there, acting like Pokémon as well!
"These are all the missing children!" Officer Jenny gasped.
"Why are they acting like that?" Ember asked.
"Pokémon-itis." Brock replied.
"Pokémon-itis?" Ember asked.
"With that new Wave, the children who were exposed to Hypno's Sleep Wave think they're Pokémon now." Brock explained.
"Then that means, those waves that zapped the Pokémon's energy must've been transferred into the children and that's why the Pokémon are so weak." Ember concluded.
The gentleman looked at the kids. "How could this have happened?" he said.
"A Psychic Pokémon's power can be dangerous and unpredictable sometimes," Ember told him, "That's why you have to be careful when using Psychic Pokémon."
"So what should we do about this?" Brock asked.
Ember placed Drowzee on the ground, "Drowzee can help."
The gentleman nodded, "You're right. We can use Drowzee to induce the dream wavelengths, which in this case may interact Hypno's wavelengths."
Brock nodded, "Yeah, it may just work."
"Let's give it a try." Officer Jenny said.
Drowzee nodded as Ember quickly took out Tesla and Lucario from their Pokeballs. Ember held Tesla in her arms as Brock helped Lucario lean against him.
Drowse walked over to the children and Misty putting them all to sleep with it sleep attack then clapped its hands awaking them from their trance much to their relief.
"It worked!" Ember smiled as Tesla and Lucario woke up as well.
Officer Jenny sighed with relief, "Thank goodness." The police woman called their parents and they all showed up to the park relieved to see their children were okay, even the woman from before had embraced her son Arnold in happiness.
"What exactly happened when I was in trance?" Misty asked.
"You clapped your hands like a Seel." Brock replied.
Misty sighed in embarrassment.
"Hey Tesla, Lucario, how do you two feel?" Ember asked.
"Rai raichu. (Like I was taking a very long nap.)" Tesla replied.
"(What happened?)" Lucario asked.
"I'll tell you later." Ember promised.
Suddenly, a mechanical arm came out of nowhere and grabbed Drowzee. Everyone gasped as Drowzee was pulled up and placed in a cage which had a Hypno inside that was attached a very familiar balloon. They heard a familiar laugh as well.
"Team Rocket!" The gang gasped.
"Prepare for trouble!"
"Make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation."
"To unite all people's within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extended our reaches to the stars above-"
"Scyther, use Fury Cutter on the cages!" Ember released her Mantis Pokémon.
"Scyther!" Scyther's scythes glowed and cut the cages in pieces. Team Rocket gasped as soon as the cages were in pieces.
"Quick, Scyther, Lucario, catch Hypno and Drowzee!" Scyther caught Hypno while Lucario caught Drowzee. Then they careful placed them on the ground.
"Now let's send them off. Scyther, Hyper Beam! Lucario, Aura Sphere! Tesla, Thunderbolt!" Ember called out.
"Hypno, Drowzee, use Psybeam!" The gentleman ordered.
All three attacks combined with Hypno and Drowzee's Psybeam hit Team Rocket's balloon which caused it to explode and sent the trio flying.
"Another plan foiled." James complained.
"Should have seen that coming." Meowth whined.
"I hate it when that twerp keeps interrupting us!" Jessie growled.
"Its starting to get old." Meowth added.
Then the trio sighed.
"LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" Team Rocket shouted before disappearing into the sky.
Everyone sighed in relief.
"We need to cure the Pokémon in the Pokémon Center, too." Brock said and agreed before going there.
Drowzee sat on the table where Cubone, Oddish and Magikarp were still lying on.
"Okay, Drowzee, please do it again." Ember requested and Drowzee nodded before it used Sleep Waves once again at all the tired Pokémon around.
After a moment, it clapped it's hands again, waking them all up. Ember looked over at the Charmander on the other side and smiled as it stood up with a smile and it's flame on it's tail was back higher. Ember walked closer to it and patted it on the head as she looked around at the Pokémon, as they looking happy and jumping around.
Nurse Joy smiled happily, "The Pokémon are all back to normal!"
"Sometimes, I wonder what the Pokémon dream about." Ember commented with a smile as she walked back to her friends.
"I wonder that, too." Misty agreed.
"They must be dreaming of getting stronger and evolving." Brock crossed his arms over his chest.
"I dream about that sometimes, too." Misty admitted.
They looked over at Nurse Joy as she sighed and looked to the side at the same Psyduck. Brock walked closer to her, "What's the matter? A beautiful woman like yourself shouldn't have to much to be sad."
"All of the Pokémon are better, but this one still holding it's head." Nurse Joy pointed out as they all looked at Psyduck.
"Leave it to me," Brock declared, "Caring for Pokémon it the sole purpose of my life. The reason I exist."
"Then maybe you can help it." Nurse Joy suggested and they all looked at Psyduck.
"Uh... sure." Brock agreed, reluctantly.
"Oh, great." Misty muttered.
Ember and her Pokémon sighed.
While they were still at the Pokémon center, Ember decided to add Boltund to her team. Then she made a call to her mom and told her that she was okay and that she was able to win the Marsh badge. The gentleman promised that the Pokémon club wouldn't use Hypno's hypnosis again and switch to sleeping pills. After they said goodbye to Officer Jenny, Nurse Joy, and the gentleman, they were heading out of town with Psyduck following them.
"Well, you were the one who said 'Leave it to me', Brock." Ember remembered.
"But Psyduck is a Water type Pokémon, you better take it, Misty." Brock suggested.
Misty was walking beside Ember, only walking backwards as she stared at the Duck Pokémon.
"Why would I want such a boring Pokémon?" Misty asked before Ember pulled out her Rotom phone.
[Psyduck constantly suffers from a headache.]
They all stopped as they heard Misty screaming, "You mean this thing always has a headache?!"
Ember, Brock and the Pokémon turned to Misty as she fell down.
"My Pokéball!" She said as one of her Pokéballs fell off of her belt and rolled down near Psyduck. Psyduck tapped it with it's bill out of curiosity and got inside the Pokéball, becoming Misty's new Pokémon.
"Oh, no! Now, it's in my Pokéball?!" Misty exclaimed in horror.
"Um, good work, Misty, you caught Psyduck." Ember tried to console her.
Misty held her head in her hands, "Uhh, now I got a headache!"
Ember patted Misty on the back softly as she lowered her hands to the ground, looking very annoyed and sad by having Psyduck in her team.
