Ember and her friends are extremely tired and looking for a place to sleep, not wanting to sleep out into the desert.
"How far are we from the next city, Brock?" Misty asked, tired.
"There's no need for me to look over the map because I see a bunch of lights." Brock pointed in front of them.
"Hey, I see them too." Misty squinted her eyes.
"Guess that means we're near a city, good because I'm tired." Ember groaned.
The Pokémon (Tesla and Levina) yawned cutely wanting to get some sleep themselves. It has been a very long day and they needed rest.
"Then lets get going then." Brock said.
They walked towards the lights and saw it was indeed a city filled with people but they didn't look very friendly, in fact they looked down right hostile.
"Hey Brock, what's the name of this place again?" Misty asked.
"Let me see," Brock opened up a book flipping the pages until he found what he was looking for, "Says here we're at Neon Town."
"I can see why it's called Neon Town." Ember commented, looking all around.
"People love to come here 'cause it's open all day and all night." Brock informed.
"It never closes?" Misty asked.
"There's action 24 hours a day." Brock replied.
"Somehow I don't like this town." Ember muttered.
Suddenly someone bumped into her and she saw a man dressed in black, like a gangster, "Oh, sorry."
"Hey, watch where you're going, kid." He yelled at Ember.
Ember gritted her teeth in anger, "I said I was sorry."
Before the gangster could respond to that they heard sirens and saw it was Officer Jenny who looked tired as well as irritated and stepped between them, "All right. Break it up, you two! There's no fighting here."
The man hmphed and walked off.
"You kids shouldn't be walking the streets at night." Officer Jenny warned.
"I'm sorry, Officer, but we just got into town." Ember apologized.
"Then you go find yourselves a hotel or something. People around here are pretty short-tempered!" Officer Jenny advised in an irritated way.
"Short-tempered?" Misty asked.
"They're on edge because they stay out all night and don't get enough sleep." Officer Jenny explained, "You kids should find a hotel, get a good night's rest, and mind your own business."
Then they heard a fight starting not too far from them. Then Officer Jenny got on her bike and drove off.
"This Jenny seems a little edgy too." Misty commented.
"I don't blame her. Not having much sleep and trying to break up fights every five minutes, you're bound to be edgy." Ember stated.
"Well let's get to a hotel and have some rest." Brock suggested.
The gang agreed to that suggestion.
They soon found a hotel and wasted no time in checking in, changed, and hit the beds.
The next morning, after they were refreshed and had breakfast, the gang left Neon Town.
"I'm glad that we're out of Neon Town. That place was too noisy." Ember commented.
"Yeah, with all that noise, I hardly got any sleep." Misty added.
"I can't believe that everyone gets into fights over the silliest things." Ember said.
"That place made me nervous." Misty stated.
"Pikachu-Pi (Look over there)." Levina pointed forward. The gang followed her gaze to a Pokémon jumping up on a log.
It was a pink Pokémon with a spherical body. It has pointed ears with black insides and large, blue eyes. It has small, stubby arms and slightly longer feet. On top of its head is a curled tuft of fur on the top of its head.
"It's a Jigglypuff." Ember took out her phone:
[Jigglypuff, the balloon Pokémon. When Jigglypuff's big eyes begin to quiver, everyone becomes sleepy as it sings a lullaby.]
"A Jigglypuff. I've always wanted one of those." Misty smiled.
"I though you only liked water Pokémon." Brock pointed out, confused.
"I do, but I like this one, too," Misty took out a Pokéball, "I'll capture it. Staryu, go!"
Instead of Staryu, Psyduck came out, "Psy."
"Psyduck, I didn't want you! Return." Misty released Staryu, "Staryu. Double edge."
Staryu started spinning slamming into Jigglypuff full force making it land hard on the ground. It was silent until Jigglypuff started bawling its eyes out taking everyone by surprise.
"Way to go Misty, you made the poor thing cry." Brock accused.
"I-It wasn't on purpose!" Misty defended.
Ember was already over by Jigglypuff rubbing its head gently, "Its okay, my friend didn't meant to hurt you."
"Raichu (That's right)." Tesla agreed placing a paw on Jigglypuff to try and calm it down.
Jigglypuff stopped crying sniffling a little, "Jiggly (Really)?"
"Really." Ember nodded.
Brock then came over, "Its odd."
"What do you mean?" Misty asked.
"Jigglypuff use Sing as a sort of defensive move against attackers, but this one didn't try to use it." Brock explained.
"Now that you mention it this Jigglypuff didn't." Ember said.
She remembered this particular Jigglypuff. This Jigglypuff always appeared out of nowhere and started singing its lullaby. When it finished singing, it would noticed that everyone fell asleep and get angry. Then it would scribble on people or Pokémon's faces with a marker.
But she'll change that. She knew just how to help the Balloon Pokémon.
"So you're saying that this Jigglypuff doesn't know "Sing"?" Misty asked.
Jigglypuff nodded sadly.
Misty came over bending down, "I'm sorry for attacking you earlier Jigglypuff, forgive me?"
Jigglypuff looked unsure looking at Ember who smiled in return and decided to forgive the girl for attacking it, "Jigglypuff (You're forgiven)."
"She forgives you." Ember translated.
"But how can we help this Jigglypuff? It doesn't feel right to leave it here." Misty said.
"Ember, by any chance, do you have any Pokémon who know "Sing"?" Brock asked.
"Yup, I got the perfect Pokémon to help!" Ember took out her phone and did a switch with Espeon for Clefable. She released Clefable from her Pokéball. "Hi Clefable, could you help this Jigglypuff by teaching her "Sing"?"
Clefable nodded with a smile, "Clefable Clef (Sure, I'd be glad to)."
Clefable led Jigglypuff to a different area for her to teach Jigglypuff.
"How about we take a break while Clefable is teaching Jigglypuff?" Brock asked.
"Sounds good to me." Ember agreed.
Around half an hour, Clefable and Jigglypuff came back with smiles on both of their faces.
"The teaching went well?" Ember asked.
Both Pokémon smiled.
"I'm glad then." Ember smiled as well, "Jigglypuff, if it's not too much to ask but can I ask you a favor?" She asked nicely.
Jigglypuff smiled, "Jiggly (Of course)!"
"Good."
"What do you have in mind, Ember?" Brock wondered.
"You'll see, but we need to go back to the city for what I have planned to work." Ember told them.
"Go back there? Why?" Misty questioned.
"The people there haven't had any sleep in what feels like a long time, right? So if we go down there with Clefable and Jigglypuff and have them use Sing then..." Ember trailed off.
"They could put the whole town to sleep." Brock finished.
"Exactly." Ember said.
"Well what are we waiting for? Lets get going." Misty said.
They all went back into the city and saw the people were still arguing with each other so nothing had changed much, but this time would be different because this time they'll be putting everyone to sleep.
Ember had Jigglypuff in her arms wearing earplugs right along with the others, "Okay, Clefable, Jigglypuff do your thing."
"Jiggly (Right)!" Jigglypuff jumped out of Ember's arms and began to use Sing with Clefable. The people that were once arguing with each other stopped at once as they felt their eye lids begin to droop as they felt heavy and began yawning, and before long they had all fallen asleep.
"Clefable and Jigglypuff did it, they got them to sleep!" Ember smiled.
"I get the feeling the people here will be a in a much better mood now that they've gotten proper rest." Brock said.
"Good." Misty sighed with relief.
Jigglypuff came over to them happily, Ember bent down taking out her earplugs, "You did great Jigglypuff, thank you. You too, Clefable."
Jigglypuff blushed, "Jiggly (You're welcome)."
"So what'll you do now?" Brock wondered.
Jigglypuff stared at Ember and Clefable with an anxious look making Ember blink, "You wanna come with me?"
"Jiggly (I do)!" She nodded.
"But why?" Ember asked.
"I think its because you went out of your way to help her that's why she wants to go with you." Brock smiled.
Ember looked back over at Jigglypuff who smiled, without complaint she brought out a Pokéball presenting it to her, "Welcome aboard Jigglypuff."
Jigglypuff tapped on the ball being instantly sucked in as it dinged immediately showing no resistance, the ball also disappeared heading right back to Prof Oak's lab. Then Ember turned to Clefable.
"You were a great teacher today, Clefable." Ember complimented.
"Clefable (Thanks, Ember)." Clefable smiled.
Then she returned Clefable. She quickly took out her phone switched Clefable with her Espeon so that Jigglypuff will recognize a familiar face.
"Now that that's over, lets head out." Ember declared.
They all nodded and preceded to leave the city again knowing that once the people woke up they'd be a lot friendlier to each other.
Having helped a new friend, Ember and her friends set out once again on their way to Cinnabar Island where Ember will have her next gym battle.
