After winning the Earth badge at the Viridian City gym, the gang had finally arrived in Pallet Town.
"Here we are, Pallet Town." Ember said, gazing at the landscape.
"Wow, it's so peaceful." Brock awed.
Misty nodded, "And so pretty too."
Ember smiled, "Thanks."
"Rai, rai Raichu. (Ember, let's go see Mom.)" Tesla decided.
"Good idea." Ember agreed, "Come on guys."
Ember led them to her house.
Delia, Ember's mom, was outside the house, waiting for Ember. When the said girl saw her mother, she ran ahead of the others and leaped into a hug with her mom.
"It's so good to see you again, Mom." Ember hugged her mom as Tesla hugged Delia's neck.
"I'm so glad you're home Ember, Tesla." Delia said happily.
"It's good to be home." Ember smiled.
She introduced Misty and Brock to her.
"I'm glad to finally meet you all," Delia greeted, "and I thank you for taking care of Ember for me."
"My pleasure." Brock greeted back.
"We had a fun time traveling with Ember." Misty said.
After all the cheerful greeting, Delia and the gang went into the house. Ember saw Bastet and Yampy and greeted them.
"I'm glad to see that you two have been doing well." She said as she petted their heads.
Bastet purred and Yampy barked happily.
"These two have been great company along with Rose who is very helpful in the garden along with the two Poliwag's that you gave me." Delia said.
Just then a bipedal, humanoid-like pink, white and blue Pokémon entered the living room.
"Who this, mom?" Ember asked.
"This is Mr. Mime, but I call him Mimey." Delia replied.
"Mr. Mime, huh?" Ember took out her phone:
[Mr. Mime, the Barrier Pokémon. It uses pantomime to make actual walls appear. Because it is rarely discovered, information about this Pokémon is extremely limited.]
"Where did you find him?" Ember questioned.
"I found Mimey out near the garden. He looked like he was very hungry. So I offered him some food and he was very grateful for it. I figured that he didn't have a trainer, I offered him if he wanted to stay with me and he accepted it and has helped me out a lot since then." Delia explained.
"Thanks for helping my mom, Mimey." Ember thanked the Barrier Pokémon.
She knew that Mr. Mime came into her mother's life when a woman named Stella was looking for a Mr. Mime to replace hers. Well she guessed that was another thing that changed when she was reincarnated.
"Mime Mr. Mime (You're welcome.)" Mimey smiled.
"Now then, how about some lunch? I bet you're all hungry." Delia said.
"Lunch does sound nice." Brock agreed.
A few minutes later, Delia made a huge meal for the gang. She also made some Pokémon food for Togepi, Tesla, and Levina.
"I really missed your cooking, mom." Ember said.
Ember had always loved her mom's cooking. Even though Ember knew how to cook, she wasn't at the same level as her mom. She could easily tell that her friends are liking her mom's cooking as well.
"So Ember, what are you planning to do now?" Delia asked.
"Well I need to ask Prof. Oak where Indigo Plateau is," Ember replied, "and since I have a few more months until the Indigo League, I'll use the time left to train my Pokémon."
"What are you going to do for training?" Brock questioned.
"Well I've decided to train my Pokémon in different habitants," Ember answered, "You know like train my water Pokémon in the ocean and train my bug Pokémon in the forest and all that."
"Yeah, I like that idea." Misty agreed.
"Although I have to go to the Alola region if Rockruff wants to evolve." Ember said.
"Really? I've always wanted to go to the Alola region." Misty said.
"Me too." Brock added.
"If you're worried about that, the trip has already been taken care of." Delia assured Ember.
"What do you mean?" Ember asked.
"Prof. Oak knew that you would need to go to the Alola region for Rockruff to evolve, so he and Samson arranged the trip for you." Delia informed.
"Wow! Really?" Ember gasped.
Delia nodded, "Yup."
So with everything all planned out, everyone talked with one another for the rest of the day and later had dinner. It was soon dark out and Delia offered the guest room for Brock and Ember could share her room with Misty.
Ember was looking up at the ceiling as she laid down in her bed, "Well it's going to be busy the next couple of months, huh Tesla?"
Tesla nodded, "Raichu."
"Let's get some sleep. Tomorrow is a big day." Ember said.
Tesla cuddled on top of Ember's chest and the two fell asleep.
The next day, morning came. The gang woke up, took a bath, got into fresh clothes, and a filling breakfast. Then they walked all the way to Prof. Oak's lab.
"Wow, so that's the lab?" Misty said.
"Yep," Ember nodded, "and this is where I started my journey."
Tesla nodded.
Ember walked up the door and rung the doorbell.
"Who is it?" A voice asked from the inside.
"Hi professor it's me Ember." Ember replied.
Prof Oak opened the door. "Ah Ember it is good to see you," he greeted "and you too Misty and Brock. Come on in."
Misty and Brock were amazed about how big Prof. Oak's lab was. Prof. Oak brought them into his living room for a chat. Gary was in there too, sipping tea on the couch.
"Hey Gary." Ember greeted.
"Well hi there Ember, what are you doing here?" Gary asked.
"Here for information about Indigo Plateau." Ember replied.
"So am I." Gary said.
"Before I answer any questions, I have something to speak to you about Ember and Gary." Prof. Oak announced. Ember and Gary looked at him in confusion.
Gary and the gang sat down on the living room's couches and Prof. Oak stayed standing up.
"Gary and Ember," he said, "as you know that it has nearly been a whole year that you two started your journey. And I must say both of you have made Pallet Town proud and have also become Pallet Town's two top trainers."
"Wow, thanks Grandpa." Gary said.
"Thanks alot, Prof. Oak," Ember thanked him and then remembered something, "Hang on a minute, what about the other two trainers that left on the same day as Gary and me?"
"Ah well Ember," Prof Oak said, "those two are still travelling, but they will not be joining you at the Indigo League. The truth is their battling skills do not compare to you two, so they haven't exactly succeeded as trainers."
Ember and Gary looked at each other in amazement.
"Now I wish to check some things out with you two," Prof Oak had a computer in his living room and switched it on. "First I want your Pokédex's." he said to Gary and Ember.
Ember and Gary handed them over. Gary noticed that Ember's was a smartphone.
"Now according to the research, Ember has seen over one hundred different Pokémon, while Gary has seen only sixty Pokémon." Prof. Oak informed.
Ember was amazed by that, but it was true that she had seen all sorts of Pokémon on her journey, "Well, you can see a lot of Pokémon when you walk on foot."
"Not mention the many we rescued too." Misty added.
"Next up is that Gary has ten badges and Ember has eight badges," Prof. Oak reported, "and last of all Gary has caught more than two hundred Pokémon and Ember has caught sixty-three Pokémon. Which I say is very impressive." He complimented the two.
"Hear that, Emby? I got more badges and Pokémon than you." Gary bragged.
"You only got 2 out of the 8 Kanto Gyms, Gary." Ember pointed out, "The ones you have there are from no named gyms."
"He was probably too lazy to go to the other gyms." Brock stated.
"Yeah, Ember battled Lt. Surge, Sabrina, Erika, Koga, and Blaine." Misty listed off.
"Wait, there was a gym on Cinnabar Island?" Gary gasped with wide eyes.
"Yup. It was fun battling Blaine." Ember replied.
"Now that's all settled," Prof. Oak gave Ember her phone and Gary's Pokédex back, "the last thing to say is about the Indigo League is located at the Indigo Plateau."
"Where is the Indigo Plateau, professor?" Ember asked.
Prof Oak showed them where it was on a map on the computer screen. "To get to Indigo Plateau you need to turn west from Viridian City first," Prof Oak explained, "that will be route 22, then you go to route 23 and that is now you get to the Indigo Plateau."
Ember put the destination into her phone, "Thanks, Prof. Oak."
"Thanks, grandpa." Gary said.
Gary and the gang wanted to stay a bit longer, so Prof. Oak led them to Oak's Corral, where all the Pokémon were, Ember's and the other trainers had caught. Ember released all of her Pokémon who were on hand; Lucario, Pidgeot, Ivysaur, Natsu, Rory, Wartortle, Levina, and Rockruff.
"No way! You got some rare Pokémon?!" Gary exclaimed when he saw Ember's shiny Pokémon along with Rockruff. Then he spotted the Mega Stones on Lucario, Natsu and Pidgeot, "Wait, your Lucario, Charizard and Pidgeot can Mega Evolve too?!"
Ember nodded, "A few of my other Pokemon can as well."
"Ember has found many shiny Pokémon as well." Prof. Oak added.
"How many Pokémon exactly?" Gary asked, somewhat hesitantly.
"Tesla, Lucario, Rockruff, could you call everyone here?" Ember asked the three Pokémon.
"Rockruff! (No problem!)" Rockruff barked happily.
Tesla and Lucario nodded. Tesla summoned an Electro Ball and launched it into the air. Lucario summoned an Aura Sphere and launched it into air, destroying the electro ball and made it shatter into sparkling fireworks. Then Rockruff howled loudly.
Everyone stood still for a moment. Then they saw Ember's Aerodactyl, Scyther, Butterfree, and Momo coming towards them along with the rest of Ember's Pokémon. Soon enough, Ember was surrounded by all of her Pokémon.
Gary was shocked by all of the rare and shiny Pokémon that Ember had. Truth be told, he was speechless. Then he shook his head to get back to reality.
"Hey Ember, how about we have a Pokémon battle? We could both use some practice before the Indigo League starts." Gary suggested.
"Sounds like a great idea." Ember agreed.
Suddenly everyone heard an explosion nearby and saw a trail of smoke.
"Hey what's that?" Misty asked.
"That smoke is coming from the Electric Pokémon Reserve." Prof. Oak replied, "Let's go!"
The group ran towards the source of the smoke and saw a hole in the ground. When they got there, they heard familiar voices coming from it.
"Team Rocket! I should have known you would show up!" Ember glared at the trio, "Let me guess you're here to steal all the Pokémon here."
"How did you figure that out?" Jessie asked, shocked.
"You three are so obvious." Ember deadpanned.
The trio sweat-dropped.
"Anyways, hand over that Raichu and make it snappy!" Meowth demanded.
Prof. Oak and Gary flinched, shocked.
"It's a talking Meowth?!" Gary exclaimed.
"Doesn't really surprise us much anymore." Ember said in a flat tone.
"Could you possibly say a few more words please?" Prof. Oak asked politely.
"You shouldn't have asked that." Misty warned.
"I'd be glad to, pops. Now clean out your ears and get a load of this," Meowth crossed his arms in front of his chest, "May I invite you to prepare-"
"For trouble." Jessie and James said in unison.
Meowth jumped between the two, pushing his paws against their cheeks, "Yeah and while you're at it, you better make it a triple."
"Tesla, Levina, Thunder Shock." Ember said, calmly.
The three Electric Pokémon launched their attacks at the trio which sent them flying into the air.
"Why can't good things happen to bad people?!" Jessie growled.
"Who knows? I just want to go to bed." James complained.
"Know what? Me too." Meowth sighed.
"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" The trio screamed as they disappeared into the sky.
"Have a nice flight!" Misty waved.
"What a bunch of idiots those three are." Ember stated.
"Well they certainly know how to make an exit." Brock commented, sweat-dropped.
"Thank you, Ember, for saving my research." Prof. Oak thanked the young trainer.
"You're welcome, Prof. Oak." Ember smiled. Then she turned to Gary, "Do you still want to do our Pokémon battle, Gary?"
"It's been a long day for all of us. We can have our Pokémon battle when we get to the Indigo League." Gary said.
"I guess you're right." Ember agreed.
"Make sure that you train as hard as I do." Gary turned around and waved, "See you in two months, Ember." Then he walked away.
Ashlyn turned to her Pokémon, "Alright everybody, we're entering the Indigo League in two months time. So I'll be training you all in different environments for four weeks in this month. Then I'll head to the Alola region for three weeks. The reason why is because Rockruff will be able to evolve over there and Cubone wants to be an Alolan Marowak. Don't worry, we'll continue training when we get back. Tomorrow, we'll start training." She announced, "So are you all with me?"
All the Pokémon cried out in excitement.
"So Ember, will you be ready for the Indigo League?" Prof. Oak asked.
Ember nodded with determination in her eyes, "With my Pokémon at my side. I will be."
