Disclaimer: I don't own Hitman Reborn but if you want to buy it for me, I'll gladly accept it.

I should not be allowed to write new stories without finishing the ones I've already published. Yeet. This idea kind of just occurred to me and it's loosely based on a Christmas film I watched when I was a child.

No betas we die like men.

Chapter One: The Escape

The first time that Nana had told him that he would be spending Christmas with his father in Italy, he had adamantly refused. The following days were full of pleading and puppy dog eyes before he finally gave in and told Nana that fine, yes he would be going. Thinking back on it Tsuna couldn't help but wish that he had tried a little harder to persuade his mother not to send him.

His lips were set in a thin line as he followed a man in an airport uniform. Just moments earlier the very same man had informed him that due to the sudden influx of snow, many planes had be grounded, including the one he was meant to be getting on.

Tsuna cursed the fact that he had convinced Nana to choose an indirect route to Italy which required the plane to stop at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris for refuelling. Now he was stuck at the airport on Christmas Eve and, according to the airport staff, it would be unlikely that he would even be able to leave the airport until the next day or possibly the day after, since most of the flights were cancelled. He could only imagine how much trouble this was giving tourists and other families.

Tsuna tugged on his bag strap as he shuffled quietly behind. It looked like this year, he'd be spending Christmas alone and by himself. He quietly wondered if his mother knew he was stranded in Paris. His thoughts were interrupted when the person he was following stopped.

"This is the unaccompanied minor's lounge. You will stay here with the other children until your flight arrives." The man said in heavily accented Japanese. He placed a hand on Tsuna's shoulder as if to prevent him from running away as the man opened the door and led him to the reception.

There was another person in an airport uniform waiting inside. It was a female with blonde hair tied into a tight bun drinking what smelt like coffee from a relatively large mug. She looked down at Tsuna with a large fake smile. Tsuna fought a grimace. He could already tell that this lady did not like children.

The woman looked between the Tsuna and the airport man of them before she began to converse to the man in rapid French. After being unable to make neither heads nor tails of what they were talking about, Tsuna let his eyes wander around the room.

There was a set of couches pressed against the wall facing each other with a TV set in front of it. He could vaguely see a weather report on the screen but it was angled away from him so he couldn't be sure. He then turned his attention to the other occupants in the room. There was pair of what looked like siblings (judging on the fact that they both sported matching pineapple hairstyles) on one of the couches and on the floor in front of the TV was a young child wearing a cow print onesie with a small face that barely stuck out from within a curly dark afro. It was the last kid in the room that made him do a double-take.

"Yamamoto-san?" Tsuna blurted out without thinking.

A dark haired teen on the other couch jerked at the call. He was wearing a dark blue sports jersey and a pair of comfy looking sweat pants. In one of his hands was a magazine with a man swinging a baseball bat.

A flash of recognition crossed the dark haired teen's eyes before he broke into a goofy grin and let out a laugh. "Well if it isn't Dame-Tsuna! Fancy meeting you here!"

Tsuna winced at the name. He felt a tap on his shoulder and turned back to face the female attendant. A quick look around showed that the man who had brought him here was no longer in the room.

She held an ID tag connected to a lanyard and bent down to hand it him. Whilst he put it on she explained a few things.

"You will wear that ID tag at all times. The rest of the children here are also unaccompanied minors so you'll be able to make friends with them." She gave a sickly sweet smile. "Under no circumstances are you to leave this room without an escort. You will be in very big trouble if you do. Got it?"

Tsuna nodded. He really didn't like this lady.

She gave another disturbing smile before placing her hands on his shoulders and turning him and pushing him towards the group. As soon as her hands left him Tsuna couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.

He made his way to the only person he knew in the room. Yamamoto beckoned him a bright smile.

"It's so good to finally see someone that I know!" The baseballer laughed.

Tsuna let out an awkward laugh of his own as he took a seat next to the boy. "Same here… But what are you doing here, Yamamoto-san?"

Yamamoto scrunched his nose. "Don't call me Yamamoto-san. It makes me think you mean my father. And we're classmates after all!"

"Yamamoto-kun?"

"Just Yamamoto is fine."

"Yamamoto."

"Yep! I was on a under sixteens baseball training camp where we visited different countries and Paris was my last spot before going back home to my dad to celebrate Christmas. Unfortunately as you can see, I'm stuck here. What about you?"

"Dad lives in Italy and my mother wanted me to spend Christmas with him because he's too busy with work to come down to Japan. Although, I guess that I won't be spending Christmas with him after all." Tsuna kept a level tone but a bit of dislike for the situation slipped out.

Yamamoto looked at Tsuna's expression and tried to change the subject.

"Hey can I call you Tsuna instead of Dame-Tsuna? It's a little bit of a mouthful!"

Tsuna blinked in surprise at the question. "Go ahead."

Yamamoto beamed. "Yay! Y'know, I've been here the longest out of everyone. I'm pretty sure that those two," Yamamoto jerked his head to the pair on the other couch, "are siblings and from my limited knowledge, I think that they're Italian."

Tsuna's eyes flashed over to the pair as well and watched as the two conversed quietly between themselves.

"The kid on the ground is Italian as well, I think. He was laughing and running around for a while but then he tripped over his own feet and is out cold."

The brunet winced at that. A rise in the loudness of the conversation happening to his left drew his attention.

"Mukuro, his hair looks like a brown hedgehog! It's so cute!" A soft girly voice cooed.

"You're right Chrome, do you want me to kidnap you a hedgehog for Christmas when we arrive back home?"

Tsuna's mouth twitched slightly. His mother had forced him to learn Italian when he was younger so that he would be able to converse with his father. As such, he could understand their conversation perfectly.

"Excuse me, my hair does not look like a hedgehog!" Tsuna spoke as he patted his hair in an attempt to get it to flatten. "And it's not like your hair looks any better! It looks like a pineapple came and died on your head!"

Tsuna huffed and glared at the pineapple twins. They blinked back at him owlishly.

"Wow! That's so cool! Tsuna I didn't know that you could speak Italian!" Yamamoto gave Tsuna an awestruck look.

"Well, it's not that big of deal…" Tsuna rubbed the back of his head awkwardly as the tips of his ears turned red.

The male twin gave the two Japanese boys a look of amusement.

"Forgive us for our rudeness." Mukuro's unaccented Japanese cut through the air. "Sorry for terrible first impression. My name is Mukuro Rokudo and this is my younger sister Chrome."

Yamamoto's jaw dropped open. "You guys can speak another language as well?! THAT'S AWESOME!"

Mukuro gave a chuckle. "From what I gather, you're Yamamoto?"

Yamamoto nodded fervently. "Yamamoto Takeshi!"

Mukuro turned his attention to the smaller brunet. Seeing his gaze fixed on him, Tsuna spoke as well.

"Sawada Tsunayoshi."

Mukuro gave a start at the name but hid anything behind a smirk.

"So…" He trailed off. "Do you accept our apology?"

Tsuna gave the pair a considering look before cracking a smile. "Apology accepted."

Tsuna looked at Chrome. Earlier he hadn't really taken in her appearance and a flicker of surprise passed through. She had a black eye patch over her right eye and wore a dark green jumper, pairing with Mukuro's sweater. Feeling the boy's gaze on her, a light blush dusted her cheeks and she turned her gaze away from the brunet.

"As cute and adorable she is, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't make eyes at my sister." Mukuro wrapped an arm around Chrome protectively and there was a look of warning in his eyes.

Tsuna stuttered out an apology and turned his eyes towards the TV. There was an image of the snow storm worsening and Tsuna was once again reminded of his predicament.

After an hour of silence Tsuna could feel his frustration building. Mukuro and Chrome had gone back to talking between themselves and Yamamoto was reclining in his seat, immersed in his baseball magazine.

Letting out a loud sigh he slid from his upright position on the couch and onto floor. "God I'm so bored. Is there anything to do in here?"

Mukuro snorted at the brunet. "I've already tried asking that lady over there if we could walk out, before you came. I was told very firmly 'no'."

Tsuna let out another sigh. "I don't understand why we have to stay in here. I swear if I'm stuck in here any longer I'm going to go insane."

Mukuro gave Tsuna a considering look. "You want to get that bad?"

"God, yes."

"Chrome." He beckoned her. She gave Mukuro hesitant look before the hoisted her backpack from behind the couch and handed it over to her brother.

Mukuro gave a smile as a thanks before rummaging through it. His smile deepened as he found what we has looking for. He took out a small bag which contained a pile of pills.

Tsuna pulled a face. "Are those drugs?"

Yamamoto looked up from his magazine, letting out a nervous laugh. "By any chance you're not the children of drug lords right?"

Mukuro twitched. "Guess again."

Chrome stepped forward with a slight blush. "I have trouble falling asleep on planes so Mukuro-nii packed those for me."

"That's great and all but what are we going to with sleeping pills?"

Mukuro smirked and Tsuna's eyes widened.

"You can't possibly mean?!"

Mukuro let out a laugh. "Kufufufu don't underestimate me Tsunayoshi."

Yamamoto gave them both a confused look. "What are we doing?"

"Mukuro-nii plans to slip the sleeping pills into their drinks." Chrome whispered to him.

"Oh…" Yamamoto thought about it for a second before sitting upright and putting his magazine down. "That sounds fun!"

Tsuna resisted the urge to face-palm at the boy. Instead, he peered over to the reception desk. There were two people working there. One was a security guard leaning against the wall with his back to the central desk.

"There are two of them. How do you plan to drug them both at the same time?" Tsuna asked Mukuro.

The purple-haired boy shrugged. "I supplied you with drugs, you can figure the rest out."

Tsuna gave Mukuro an exasperated look. He hadn't known the other boy for very long but it seemed like he could already tell his personality.

Yamamoto looked between the two. "You only need one adult here right?"

"Yeah but it'll be impossible to get one of them to leave without arousing the other one's suspicion." Tsuna faced away from Yamamoto and assumed a thinking position.

Mukuro let out a smirk before copying him.

"The security guard changes every two hours."

Tsuna and Mukuro both looked up at him.

Yamamoto laughed. "I told you that I've been here the longest! I think that the next time that they change is in twenty minutes." He eyes the clock on the wall.

Mukuro turned back to Tsuna. "So we only have twenty mins to pull this off. These pills are extra strong sleeping pills so they'll activate in around five minutes and knock the person out for at least three hours. Maximum of nine."

"But the new guard will return before the sleeping pill wears off so obviously we're going to have to move fast." Yamamoto mumbled.

Tsuna nodded his head in agreement. "Now the only problem left is getting that attendant to drink it."

"I can do that…"

Everyone turned to face Chrome.

"Kufufufu, that's quite unexpected of you, Chrome. Are you sure?"

Chrome nodded determinedly. "Yes!"

"What are you going to do?" Tsuna gave Chrome a doubtful look. In his opinion, there wasn't much the girl could do.

Chrome's eyes darted to the water machine. It was the type that you'd find in dentist rooms, a large bottle of water with a red tap for hot water and a blue tap for cold water with a place that dispensed paper cups on the side.

"I don't know if it'll work but I have an idea." She admitted softly and she walked up and twisted the taps into weird positions.

She then gently tugged Yamamoto's magazine from out of his hands and opened it to a random page. Placing a few of the sleeping pills into the magazine, she closed it again and used the heel of her shoe to crush the pills into powder. When she reopened it, all that was left was a white powder.

Yamamoto gave a quiet 'Ohhhhh!' before grinning widely.

Chrome smiled shyly before gathering the remnants of the pills into her one of her palms. She began to make her way to the reception desk and stopped when she noticed the female attendant stare at her.

"E-excuse me. The water machine isn't working."

The attendant glared at her before rolling her eyes and walking briskly over to the water machine.

Tsuna, Yamamoto and Mukuro watched with bated breath as Chrome quickly dumped the powder in her hand into the mug on the desk. She used one of the pens on the table to stir the powder in before taking it out and hurriedly following the attendant.

Chrome held the coffee-soaked pen behind her back and it was only when her feet were back on carpet that she dropped it and subtly kicked it in the direction of Mukuro.

Mukuro's foot shot out and he held it over the top of the pen. A quick stomp and he was then kicking pieces of the broken pen under the couch.

The attendant huffed as she twisted the coloured taps back into their original position.

"There. Do you need anything else? No? Bye." She left without waiting for an answer.

The four children watched as the attendant got resettled at her desk and took a large gulp of coffee. She let out a sigh before draining the entire mug.

"Oh my god." Tsuna said quietly.

Yamamoto agreed with the sentiment.

"But what about the security guard?" Mukuro brought up the other adult.

Yamamoto perked up. He reached into a black backpack and pulled out a baseball.

Mukuro frowned. "What are you going to do with that-"

The baseballer wound up his right arm and his wrist snapped quickly as the ball released and sailed directly onto the security guard's temple. The guard crumpled onto the ground.

"Oh my god." Tsuna repeated, more horrified.

"Kufufufu. I can't say I was expecting that." Mukuro gave Yamamoto an appraising look.

"What if you killed him?" Tsuna began to panic.

"Nah it would take a lot more strength than that to kill someone with a baseball." Yamamoto laughed. "Besides, now's our chance to go!"

The other three paused, as if finally realising what had happened before they all grabbed their bags and hightailed it out of the airport lounge.

Once they finally joined the main crowd of people at the airport, Tsuna let out a large sigh of relief.

"We're finally free!"

Yamamoto laughed at him whilst Mukuro and Chrome shared a fond look.

Tsuna stretched his arms above him before relaxing. "So do we want to stay together or split up?"

Mukuro gave him a considering look.

"You look like what, eleven-"

"Excuse you I am fourteen!" Tsuna cried out indignantly.

Mukuro waved his had dismissively. "Technicalities, anyway, they'll be looking for a group of children by themselves so either we split up or join a bigger group of people."

Yamamoto readjusted his bag strap. "I think we should split up. Tsuna and I will stay together and you two with stay together."

Tsuna nodded at the idea.

Mukuro smirked at them. "Then, lets meet up again in an hour. Don't get caught before then."

Yamamoto grinned at him. "You too!"

Something dark and almost purple seemed to flash in Mukuro's eyes but before Tsuna could focus on it, it had disappeared.

"Kufufu."

The two pairs walked in opposite directions.

A/N

I originally intended this to be a oneshot but I'll see where it leads me. Hopefully I'll finish this before Christmas but who knows. If it ends up being finished before Christmas next year, I don't think anyone would be too surprised.
