Chapter 36

-Ten Years After Sumeragi's Death-

It is a sunny day in Hoshido, it will soon be summer and butterflies can be seen wandering around the many flowers scattered between the trees.

In this forest, a merchant's cart travels slowly in the direction of the country's capital.

Two hooded figures accompany the owner, the smallest one sitting on a big crate and the tallest laying down in the middle of the numerous furnitures, his bag used as a support for his white haired head.

"Two more days and we will reach our destination." The feminine voice of the sitting figure rings between the chirps of the birds. "You must be excited." Her golden eyes rest on her companion.

The hood resting on the boy's eyes moves as he turns his head with a 'hum', his left ears shining under the sun. "You can say that." He exhales "And you? How do you feel about travelling across half the country?"

The girl looks at sparrows flying from tree to tree. "I traveled longer distances before."

"Really?" He smiles, revealing his fangs. "You never told me."

She huffs, crossing her dangling legs. "You never asked."

His smile widens. "True, true." He puts his hands under his head and sighs. "Were did you go? Apart from, what was it, Japan?"

"I went to another country called France for about half a year." She puts her hands on the crate to support her body as she looks up at the sky. "It is like... I don't know... like Nohr, but brighter and cleaner."

"You mean that it is sunny?" He raises an eyebrow.

The yellow eyed girl thinks for a moment. "You would not understand."

"Alright, any other places?" He closes his eyes.

"No." The answer is curt.

The young man sighs again. "Alright..." He repeats as he falls asleep.

The smaller hums with a frown as the chariot continues on its way toward the capital.

-That Day-

-Castle Shirasagi-

It has been two weeks since Corrin has met her real family.

Thinking about it makes her feel strange, à part of herself tells her that Xander and the other nohrian royals are her real family.

She sighs while watching the maids hanging out the laundry as she thinks about her situation.

Why do people not hate her?

Her biological mother is the queen of Hoshido, but in all of her remembered life, she was, no, she is nohrian.

The red eyed girl has heard the horrendous stories about her nohrian siblings that circulate in the castle

That is why the albino wants to ask her hoshidan siblings about it.

But... what if they get mad?

Corrin is having so much fun here, and the hoshidan royal family has been nothing but nice with her.

Except Takumi unfortunately.

Her grey haired little brother has been nothing but a prick to her, always criticizing her manners and fighting style.

As the princess pouts, her big brother puts a hand on her shoulder. "Here you are."

She turns around to see the genuine smile on Ryoma's face, the heir to the throne towering over her. "Do you need anything?"

"Mother is calling for you in the throne room." He simply states.

Corrin nods in understanding. "I will be on my way then."

During those two weeks, Corrin has been given time to think about her situation.

The biggest question she asked herself was: What should she do?

After a failed mission at the nohrian border, the albino found herself abducted by Hoshidan soldiers and brought before the Queen.

All she thought about was how she would be killed. But in the end, she discovers that her real mother is the ruler of the kingdom with which Nohr has been in war with.

What do you do when the family that loved you during all your childhood in Nohr has been lying to you from the very beginning?

Corrin has stayed awake for multiple night thinking about it and after all this time she found the answer.

Even if they have hidden the truth from her, she knows that they love her as much as she does.

Xander, Camilla, Léo, Élise, she refuses to hate and forget them. They are her family, as much as the Hoshidan royals are.

That is why she chose to try her best to bring her siblings together.

How? She still does not really know, but she would rather die than let them kill each other.

"Corrin." Ryoma calls from behind her. "The door to the throne room is here."

She blushes as she has walked past it while thinking. "Thank you big brother."

They both enter and walk in the direction of the throne, their mother standing next to it.

"You called for me mother?" Corrin asks.

Mikoto nods. "Yes, my child. You look as if you are feeling better after a few days to yourself." A motherly smile appear on her face.

"I am, yes." Corrin can not help but smile back. "I still have many questions, but at least now I have a few answers." She says with determination. "Thank you for giving me the space I needed to think."

The Queen's smile widens. "Of course. I am glad to hear that you are feeling better." She makes a small pause, hesitating. "If you would not mind, I have a small favor to ask. Would you try sitting on the throne for a moment?"

Confusion shines in the albino's eyes. "Why would I do that."

"Well..." Mikoto starts reluctantly. "This throne is infused with the power of the First Dragons. It is said that those who sit on it regain their true form and mind." She takes a big breath. "I thought that, if you sat on the throne, then perhaps..."

"Wait, do you not trust me?" Corrin interrupts, seemingly hurts by her mother's behavior. "Do you think I am under some kind of Nohrian spell?"

"No!" The Queen's eyes widen in horror. "It has nothing to do with trust, I..." Her gaze saddens. "I just wonder if the Nohrian have sealed away your early memories. If so, maybe this throne could help bring those lost pieces back." She then whispers, her eyes unfocused. "Those sweet memories of me and your siblings."

Sensing that her mother's feelings are true, Corrin nods awkwardly. "I see..."

"I am deeply sorry, Corrin." The black haired woman calms down. "I do not mean to push you toward something you do not want."

'Even if I wanted to go back in Nohr?'

That is the question Corrin would have asked if she had more courage.

"Excuse me, Lady Mikoto." A browned haired man enters the throne room. "The ceremony is about to begin." He adjusts his glasses.

Mikoto nods at him. "Thank you, Yukimura." She turns to her daughter. "Corrin, you probably do not remember him, but this is Yukimura." The young man bows. "He is one of our strategists and brightest leaders. We would be lost without him." She chuckles tiredly.

"You are too kind, milady. Though in truth, I still have much to learn." He smiles warmly. "That said, I am here to help in any way I can, Lady Corrin."

At this moment, Ryoma enters, followed by all their siblings.

"I would like to make a public announced about your presence here, Corrin." She explains. "There have been rumors circulating about spies from Nohr infiltrating the castle. I would like to quash those rumors once and for all." Mikoto then asks. "Yukimura, is everything ready?"

He nods with a closed eyes smile. "Yes, milady. People are beginning to gather at the plaza."

The Queen claps her hand. "Excellent, thank you. Corrin, I have arranged for Takumi, Hinoka and Sakura to give you a tour. I thought you might want to get to know the area a little bit before this event." She turns to the other royals. "I need to speak with Yukimura first, but I'll meet you at the plaza soon."

A girl with a rough voice answers. "We would be happy to show her around. Thank you, mother."

She is Hinoka, Corrin's big sister who tried multiple times to go save her siblings captured by Nohr. Her attempted where stopped by the maids and ninjas as she was not even a teenager at that time. Now, she has abandoned all the activities a woman her age should do and has instead decided to wield the naginata as a pegasus knight. She has short red hair and red eyes.

"Azura, do you mind going with them as well?" The Queen asks a blue haired girl, slightly older than Corrin.

She nods. "Not at all, it would be my pleasure."

Azura is a nohrian princess abducted by hoshido after failing to recover the albino twins. She was to be exchanged for their liberty but King Garon told them that he simply did not care. Because of it, she was adopted by Mikoto and has been raised along the hoshidan royals.

"Thank you, Azura" Corrin smiles.

Because of their similar predicament, Corrin and Azura have grown fond of each other.

"Of course, Corrin." The young woman's golden eyes rest on the albino.

Takumi, the bearer of one of the two legendary hoshidan weapon, the Yumi Fujin, and little brother of Corrin, just humphs. He hates Nohrian more than anything, that is why he does not like Corrin.

"I can not wait to show you around! I think you will l-love it here." A small girl stutters, embarrassed about her own outburst.

She is Sakura, the younger of them all. While she is too weak to wield a weapon, she helps as much as she can on the battlefield with her rod.

"Thank you Sakura, a guided tour sounds like a great idea." Corrin and the other leave the throne room.

-Meanwhile-

"Are you sure we are going in the good direction?" The smallest of the hooded figures frowns. "It is the third time I see this ramen booth."

The tallest nods. "Of course I know." He sees everyone walking toward the plaza. "They are over there."

In reality, he is scared.

What if his family rejects him? What if they forgot about his very existence?

He sighs as they approach the plaza.

The smallest puts a hand on his shoulder, stopping him. "Do you feel it?"

He concentrates before frowning. "Yes"

There is a bomb under them, a magical one.

"Do you see the hooded person with bandages around their cloak?" The girl asks, pointing at a strange man in the crowd.

"He is the one who put this?" He turns around.

His companion nods. "He is the only one with enough magical energy to activate those." She taps the ground with her right foot.

"I take care of him?" He asks. "And you deactivate the bombs?"

She smiles. "As you wish."
