Chapter 36
-That Day-
-Plaza-
After the abduction of his siblings, Takumi has slowly started to despise nohrians, whoever they may be.
They are guilty of all the worse deed recorded in history and all they do is trying to destroy his and his family's lives.
All of this made him paranoid, and he is proud of this. Because he knows that when his family will be fooled by some nohrians spy, he will be there to prevent any harm to happen to them.
So when the girl, this thing, came out of nowhere pretending to be his sister while dressed and behaving like a nohrians, he knew that there was a catch.
She is not his sister, she is a nohrian and she is planning something after lowering the guard of his family.
He must act when the time comes and the presence of three cloaked individuals in the crowd as his mother is about to make her speech unsettles him.
After all, now would be the perfect time to assassinate his mother, the person who maintains the magical barrier preventing Nohr from attacking. The Queen never gets out of the castle normally.
While thinking about the situation, the grey haired prince does not notice the sword of Corrin shining and trembling in its sheat.
The hooded figure covered in bandages points its hand toward the princess, its hand producing the same ominous smoke as the sword.
The weapon flies out of the confused albino's grasp toward the individual, and before anyone can do anything, they plant the blade on the ground, creating an explosion in the middle of the crowd.
There are no guards as the barrier prevents any murderous feelings.
Which means that nobody can stop the cursed projectiles created from Corrin's sword as they head toward their last owner.
It also means that nobody will prevent their mother from jumping in front of Corrin to take the blows.
Not even Takumi.
AVALON!
Both the Queen and her daughter find themselves enveloped by a golden globe as the shards explode against it.
"Mother!" Sakura yells while the smoke slowly vanish.
Both Corrin and Mikoto are sitting on the ground, one of the two other cloaked figures standing between them and the assassin.
The protector sighs as she takes her sword out of her sheath, thankful that her cloak hides her arsenal.
She is waiting for her companion to take action before their opponent makes another move.
The bandaged asshole charges another attack but is suddenly stopped by an all white sword aimed at his head by a white haired boy coming out of the fleeing crowd.
"Good evening!" Kotai greets his opponent as their weapons clash in a small explosion, revealing the terrorist is made out of a kind of purplish smoke, making it impossible to discern who they are.
Kotai goes for his hip, the shadow blocking it but ending up thrown away in the street of the capital.
The albino follows suit as Corrin and her mother stand up, preparing to leave the place.
"Stay here." The hooded girl orders.
They listen to her, she has saved both of them after all. "Who are you." Mikoto demands.
"Shut up please." The woman sighs with a frown.
-With Kotai-
When they reached the capital, Kotai was excited about meeting the best soldiers of Hoshido.
He has trained a lot with Kamui and he wants to know where he is in the hoshidan strength hierarchy.
The adrenaline he felt from the fear of his first real encounter quickly turned into the adrenaline of great excitement.
Let's just say that he is disappointed in his opponent.
He thought that he had a good level in fighting, but if the shadow is supposed to be strong, what is he?
A genius?
They are currently in one of the main streets of the city.
The albino continues his assault, slamming his sword toward his enemy and waiting for the right time to use his secret technique.
Now that he thinks about it, this bastard tried to kill his biological family, and while he has not created a bond yet, it would mean that their weekly long travel would have been for nothing.
With annoyance, he sends a fist toward the shadow's face, his limb transforming into a giant silver spike.
He missed his secret technique unfortunately.
The shadow uses this occasion to attack the boy's side but Kotai blocks it effortlessly before sending him away.
After landing, it mimics the movement it made in the plaza, but instead of an explosion, nothing happen.
-Back at the Plaza-
Two magic circles suddenly appear in the middle of the small crater left by the explosion.
Ryoma tries to run toward his mother and sister.
WOOSH
He is send back by a strong wind send by the person protecting those he love, her armored hand outstretched in his direction.
Takumi notices the claw like design akin to a nohrian glove.
She turns around. "Stay behind the fountain." She tells the two women who follow her instruction.
Out of the magic circles emerge two behemoths, one wielding a morningstar, the other a spiked bat and a shield.
Both of them have a wyvern skull decorating their head and scales are randomly scattered on their skin.
With their 3,20 meters of height, they easily tower over the cloaked knight.
A black sword with red motifs appear from the cloak. At this, the behemoths smile. "Eheheh! Let's have fun."
The morningstar flies in the direction of the knight who deflects it on the left. But before she can take a hold of the chain, the spiked bat slams down on her sword, the pavement braking under her legs.
She jumps back to give herself more room as the shielded behemoth tries to bash her with his protection.
She jumps over the morningstar heading her way and waits for the other giant to bash her. The knight sees the bat heading in the direction of her torso and releases a strong gust of wind toward his arm.
GALE!
She prepares herself to cut the limb of the stunned behemoth when she has to block the fist of the other one.
She adjust herself in midair and slides on her feet, stopping before the fountain.
Both parties stop for a moment but none say anything. There is no need for words.
Suddenly, the shielded giant breaks the floor with his foot, creating a shock wave heading toward the knight.
She jumps, the attack breaking the side of the fountain and freeing the water on the ground.
The morningstar meets the knight's stomach in mid air, smashing into the stone dragon decorating the fountain.
She falls down between Mikoto and Corrin inside the smoke, the only thing visible from the outside being the chain of the behemoth's weapon.
Blue motifs appear on it before it explodes in dust, the knight walking out of the smoke with what remains of the weapon in her hand.
She dashes toward the unarmed giant but the other one tries to stop her with his shield. The knight slams her left hand on it, blue line going out of her and enveloping the protection before it meets the same fate as the morningstar.
The giant can do nothing as the sword slashes his left side, the black weapon coming out of his right shoulder.
His lungs being cut open, he is unable to voice his pain as his face stays frozen in an expression of agony.
The remaining enemy tries to grab her, and the knight catches his hand with her claws, breaking through the scales on the back of his hand.
With herculean strength, the petite fighter pulls him closer with the intent to behead him.
She jumps as a green energy blast goes past where she previously was before meeting the giant's torso.
It had no effect on his scales.
The behemoth takes this chance to grab the knight by the waist, his hand big enough to circle it, and slams her on the floor multiple times.
She can feel the bricks of the pavement breaking under her back, and with gritted teeth, she plants her sword in his armor.
After a flash of black and red, the behemoth's arm ceased to exist.
It yells in pain, grabbing what remains of his shoulder as the knight stabs him in the stomach, opening it and letting his bowls spill out on the broken floor.
He falls on his side, gasping for air.
She approaches him, making a quick movement with her sword to clean it of the blood.
Her heel on his wyvern skull.
One crunch and the helmet broke off.
Two crunches and her boot is covered of what remains of the behemoth brain.
She won, and she is not even hurt.
Silence falls on the plaza as the knight makes her way back toward the queen and her daughter, her glare, hidden by her hood, aimed at a grey haired prince.
"You can go." She says, her eyes resting on the cadaver of her opponents as purple flames quickly consume the bodies.
The albino takes her stunned mother by the hand and runs toward her siblings after whispering a 'thank you'.
She just stays there, taking deep breathes and trying to understand how quickly the situation went awry.
"Onee-sama." A hand meets her shoulder. "Is everything alright?"
She looks at her companion, her golden orbs recognizing what remains of the shadow's cloak in his other hand.
The girl nods, not saying a word, she was not prepared for this.
The boy says nothing else, grabs the side of her ripped cloak and pulls her toward the hoshidan royal family.
She makes no sound but follows him, her face turned in the direction of the crater created after the last giant repeatedly slammed her on the ground.
Reinforcement: One of the fundamentals of modern magecraft. The user channels mana into an object to enhance it characteristics. However, surcharging it will cause the destruction of said object.
A/N
Here we go for some fast paced fights, I am halfway through the writing of chapter 38 but I do not always have access to a computer during these holidays. It means that the release of chapters may be postponed during this month.
