Chapter 38
It all happened so fast, one moment they were waiting for their mother to make her speech, the other, the plaza was destroyed and mysterious figures were fighting for their lives.
Ryoma did try to help the Queen but got thrown away easily by one of them.
It only took four minutes for the two hooded fighters to kill their opponents, saving Corrin and Mikoto in the process.
And now, the two of them are walking in their direction, the white haired man pulling the seemingly distracted knight behind him.
Takumi stays on guard, waiting for any of the two to show hostility.
Now that they are closer, he is not a man, but a boy, an albino.
After Takumi takes a closer look at the pointy ears and sharp fangs, his eyes widen.
Like everyone else.
"Kamui?" Mikoto asks with a shaky voice.
Kotai turns his head toward the knight, who does not react, more interested by the broken fountain.
Takumi notices the golden earing on the boy left ear, a gemstone hanging from it.
The albino shrugs. "Good evening..." He looks at them awkwardly. "...Mother?" Kotai smiles at them.
Mikoto stays frozen in place, to shocked to move.
The pointy eared boy chuckles nervously from the lack of respond. "And here is my big sister."
He frowns when she does not react, her side facing him.
"Onee-sama?" He forces her to face him and remarks that she still has her sword in her hand, her breathing deep and labored.
Kotai takes the side of her hood and takes it off, to be able to make eye contact.
Her golden eyes are unfocused, looking vaguely in his direction, and purple patches are scattered on her face and neck.
His eyes widen in panic as he forces her to lay down, the girl making a confused 'ugh?' as her sword clangs on the paved floor.
Sakura gasps before running in their direction with her rod, the other following suit.
Except Takumi, he still is ready to shoot on the two strangers with his yumi.
The Royal Family gather around the two.
"Two Kamui?" Rooms asks, recognizing the knight as she looks tiredly in his general direction.
Said blond girl does not understand what is going on. She has the biggest migraine she has ever endured, her vision is hazy and she can not hear anything.
"Ah?" She feels her sword being taken out of her grasp.
A cloth is put on her eyes, leaving the girl in the dark. "Uh..."
She feels so sleepy...
-?-
A wooden ceiling.
That is what Kamui sees as she wakes up.
She wakes up but she does not want to get up from her bed.
She lays in a futon, now that she takes her current height into acount.
A very comfortable futon.
The blond girl looks around and notices the presence of bandages around her head and neck.
Kamui puts herself on her elbows and starts to take them off.
Her bag has been brought next to her while she was unconscious, her clothes are inside.
She changes while staying on her futon, getting on her back for the pants and sitting up for the top of her kimono.
Laying back down on it, she looks around the room and closes her eyes, resting some more.
After some time, the sliding door is opened by a maid with a new set of bandages.
The servant looks at the knight currently laying on the messy futon and bows.
"Good morning, Madame." She greets.
Kamui stands up, not waiting for the woman to help her. "Good morning." She answers out of politeness.
The maid tries to take her arm to aid her, but the knight dodges with a frown, walking toward the door.
"Madame! Please wait!" The woman calls as Kamui steps out of the room.
The blond girl makes a sprint in a random direction and zigzags in what she understand is the capital's castle.
"Madame!" She hears far behind her.
She runs in the empty hallways until she arrives in a garden.
Kamui deduces that their are multiple garden from the small size of the one she currently stands in.
She walks on the grass toward the trees to visit, and hide herself from her pursuer.
In the middle of the trees, a girl is sitting on a towel. The red haired girl is even smaller than Kamui.
Her gentle eyes meet the golden orbs of the fugitive and surprise appears on her young face.
"Good m-morning, Miss." She stutters before standing up and bowing.
Kamui nods. "Good morning."
"Madame!" They both hear from a distance.
The knight closes her eyes and puts a finger on her mouth before sitting down.
Her accomplice nods with a gentle smile, looking at the ground with a blush.
She has never hid away from the maids before.
They both stay silent, enjoying the calm of the garden.
"My name is Sakura." The girl says after gathering her courage.
The blond girl hums. "Kamui Emiya."
The red haired girl looks at her lap. "Why where you r-running from the maid?"
Kamui glances at the blushing girl. "I do not need a maid."
Sakura plays with her hands awkwardly.
"I hate it when someone does what I am capable to do on my own." The petite girl answers the unasked question from the shy girl.
"But..." The princess starts. "It is her job to aid you."
Kamui smiles. "I am sure that I can change clothes and walk by myself."
"It is true that... that you have an outstanding regeneration." The rod user says, a hand hiding her mouth.
The knight frowns, making the princess shiver. "What happened exactly? After my fight?"
-The Day Before-
Kamui just lost consciousness and Kotai has wrapped the cloak he was carrying around her head and neck.
Prior to that, he had taken one of her gloves off and the pale but healthy skin of her hand made him understand that what causes her to suffer activates when it comes in contact with her skin.
While he is frowning, he is not panicking in the slightest. The albino knows that his guardian can just 'sleep it through' as she can not die from poison or venom.
However that does not apply to the royal family currently surrounding him.
A green light surrounds the knight as Sakura tries to heal her, but it does not stop the venom. "Oh no." Her grip tighten on her rod.
Kotai points at Hinoka. "Help me move her inside."
The naginata wielder nods with determination, grabbing Kamui's ankles. "This way." She moves in the castle direction.
Ryoma and Corrin help their mother walking as she is still stunned from the fight earlier. "Do you know her?" The albino asks the heir to the throne.
"Yes, I will tell you later." Ryoma puts a hand on his hip, he fell on it after being thrown away by Kamui.
Takumi follows them, leaving the guards who came from the castle and Azura search for survivors.
Once inside, maids come to aid them, but Kotai dismisses them sternly as Hinoka asks them to lead the way to an empty room.
The both of them put Kamui down on a futon and Kotai washes her face, using gloves to be sure to not touch the venom.
"Is she going to be okay?" Hinoka frowns, looking at the knight.
"We should let her rest." The albino makes his way toward the door, the red haired woman following him. "She can survive any type of poison or venom, it usually takes a night for her to recover."
Hinoka stops before him and faces him. "Do you know who I am?"
Kotai looks at her in the eyes, his frown softening. "Hinoka, that is your name, right?"
The princess makes a soft gasp, her hands grabbing the boy's top. "You are here too." She puts her head on his chest, her grip tightening. "This is not a dream?"
"I am sorry. I do not remember a lot about you." His arms wrap around her. "And to answer your question, I am sure that this is indeed reality."
She nods in his embrace. "I understand, you need to see everybody else." They stop their hug, Hinoka wiping the tears that were forming.
"See who?" Takumi asks with a frown.
Hinoka turns to him. "Do you not recognize him? Takumi."
The grey haired prince humphs. "All I see is another nohrian, you seem to have already forgotten what happened to mother thanks to Corrin's sword."
"Eh." Both of them turn to Kotai, his frown replaced by a smile.
A condescending one.
"I do not know why but you seem particularly stupid for a prince." The albino chuckles mockingly.
"What?!" Takumi frowns.
Kotai's smile widens as he walks in the grey haired's direction. "And even if you are bad at diplomacy, you could think that you would be good in fighting at least." The prince tenses up. "But then again, if I remember, you were the one who tried to shot my sister. Am I right?"
The albino's smile disappears as he looks down on Takumi.
"Kamu-" Hinoka tries to call him, but it is too late.
The two are already brawling on the floor, the prince being beaten up quite badly.
"Stop that!" The princess tries to take Kotai off of the younger boy, without much success.
"What is going on here?" Ryoma rounds the corner as guards run toward them from the other side.
After some time, they are able to take the two of them away from each other.
-With Kamui and Sakura-
"Who won?" The knight asks, remembering that she wanted to beat this guy up.
The princess bites her lower lip. "Takumi did not look good."
Kamui smirks. "I knew it."
-Back to the Flashback-
After taking both boys in different rooms, Ryoma has decided that he would be the one talking to Kotai next.
The crown prince is the tallest by far in the family, and most find him scary, kind but scary.
"What type of tea is this?" Kotai does not seem to be affected by Ryoma's aura.
"It is Cheve's speciality and mother's favorite." He answers anyway.
The boy puts his cup down. "Well, I do not like it."
The brown haired man sighs. "Kamui-"
"Kotai." The boy smiles. "Kamui is my sister."
He nods. "Kotai, do you know why you are here?"
The albino makes himself comfortable. "Me and my sister came here in search of my biological family." His smile widen "And lucky me, my big sister is in a critical state and my mother and twin sister almost died."
Ryoma coughs in his hand uncomfortably. "We thought you were dead." His expression softened. "And when we found Corrin who told us she did not know about you, we lost all hope of finding you."
"Where were you?" Ryoma looks at his little brother with a pained expression, a rare sight.
"I will not tell you or anyone until my sister is in good health again." His red eyes meets the prince's.
The albino stands up and makes his way toward the door against Ryoma's protests.
He opens it and behind the door stands Corrin, the girl averting her eyes.
Ryoma, seeing the situation, exits the room. "I will take care of mother." He tells the twins before departing, leaving the two alone.
"So... You are Kotai, if I heard right." Corrin starts, staring at the ground.
The boy takes his twin's gloved hand. "Nobody told you it was impolite to eavesdrop?"
Corrin blushes. "I am sorry."
Kotai laughs with a genuine smile. "I finally found you."
She looks up at him with a shocked expression, their eyes meeting for the first time. "Why?"
He makes a confused face. "Why?" He repeats.
"Why do you seem so happy to see me when you despise our siblings?" Corrin asks.
Kotai frowns in confusion. "I despise nobody." He then whispers. "Except Takumi."
"But..." She starts.
"I do not despise them, I am just angry." He bites the inside of his cheek. "You and Mom almost died because of them, and that means that I would have never met you." His frown deepens. "You know, I always felt that something was missing, and two weeks ago, I felt it."
"What do you felt?" Corrin asks, her grip tightening on his hand.
He smiles warmly at her. "You. I knew you were here."
Her eyes widen. "How?"
"There is a link between us." He places his hand on his chest before putting it on hers. "It is faint and I think the barrier prevented our connection." He retracts his hand.
"But, how does it work?" She puts her hand where his previously was.
He hugs her, the girl quick to mimic his movement. "We will ask my big sister when she wakes up. I am just glad that we arrived on time." He sighs tiredly.
"B-big brother, big sister." A small voice calls for them. "Dinner is ready." Sakura says, looking at the patterns on Kotai's kimono, too nervous to look atthem in the eyes.
They let go of each other. "Thank you Sakura." Corrin smiles at her.
"So you are Sakura." Kotai approaches her. "I do not know if you remember me, but I am your brother. You can call me Kotai if you want."
Indeed, the young princess barely knew how to talk when the twins were abducted.
"Yes, big brother." She blushes, her hair hiding her face as the albino pats her.
"Let's go then." He turns to his twin before letting Sakura show them the way.
A/N
Just a quick remainder that Kotai's birth name is also Kamui ;)
