It was a sunny day in Zootopia. At exactly 5 a.m., the alarm clock sounded in Judy's rented flat, chiming the time to get up for work. Judy turned it off immediately when she heard its loud beeping. She had been awake for a good hour, being very excited about the day.
"This is the day Judy...you can do it" thought the rabbit as she got out of bed briskly, then changed into her police uniform. This was the day she was to confess her feelings to the fox she was working with. Since she had worked with him their relationship had grown strongly and their friendship had gradually increased until it had moved to a higher level of friendship. Judy fell in love with the fox, from looking into his emerald eyes her heart began to beat faster, her mind began to go dumb and she was all like she was made of garalette. She couldn't resist this foxy handsome man who worked with her all day. Admittedly she wasn't sure if Nick felt the same way about her, he acted the same way all the time, maybe he was more often nice to Judy than ironic. But Judy had to confess it to him, watching and talking to him made her feel like she was about to explode from the emotions she was hiding from the fox. So she decided that it would be better for herself to confess how she felt about him than to continue to hide it. She knew what a risk it was, when it turned out that Nick only preferred friendship, their cooperation and the friendship itself would cool heavily, but the rabbit had thought it all through in her head, weighed the pros and cons, and she was ready to reveal her feelings. After all, using the fact that she is the head of the police she could change her precinct in which she will patrol. She was prepared to take those risks. When she took and pinned her police badge on her chest, she was ready to go. She finally unfastened the fox gas by throwing it in the trash, then left the flat. Immediately she heard the shouts of her neighbours, which made her ears drop down, but that didn't extinguish Judy's enthusiasm. Tonight she would be either the happiest rabbit on earth or the saddest.
It promised to be a sunny day in Zootopia. There was not a single cloudy cloud on the horizon. It was the middle of summer, so it would most likely be hot. Police uniforms had the disadvantage of not being very pleasant to wear in hot conditions. Then police officers had to drink a lot of liquids to avoid getting faint on duty. When Judy arrived at the tram stop she sat alone reading the news on the internet. If she could, she would listen to music, but police regulations strictly forbid carrying anything more than your phone. Everyone adhered to it, except Nick, who claimed it was a stupid rule. While browsing the posts, a fox walking down the street caught her attention.
"Nick? Impossible, what would he be doing here..." thought Judy looking at the figure walking across the street. She had never seen a single fox in this part of town, so she thought it might be Nick. What would he be doing here? Nick lived on the other side of Zootopia, it was impossible for him to come all this way, why? He didn't mention that he had a relative here or anything like that. A moment later Judy's heart sped up, there was a police badge on the fox's chest, it really was Nick! Judy was surprised by this, but pretended not to see him while buying her gaze back into the smartphone screen. Soon she heard his footsteps beside her.
"Howdy carrot" said Nick as always with a smile on his muzzle. He was always in a good mood first thing in the morning, then it depended on how the day was going, but morning was a time where Nick couldn't be in a bad mood.
"H...hey Nick. What are you doing here ?" asked Judy. Her heart started beating faster and she herself felt irritated to see the fox staring at her with his big green eyes.
"Last night when we went our separate ways I saw that you weren't in a better mood, I wanted to make sure you were okay"
"Come on Nick, in the post you would have seen me, you didn't have to..."
"I had to. At the police station you could pretend, here you weren't expecting me, so I can see it was just my vivid imagination." Nick replied. Judy was impressed. He may have made his living from petty scams, but he knew the psyche of others. He had anticipated her move. It was impossible!
"I beg you, let the tram come faster" thought Judy hoping that the tram would appear soon. Her wish was granted. Before Nick could finish his statement, a tram appeared on their left stopping in front of them.
"Ladies ahead," said Nick letting the rabbit go ahead.
"Wow, I didn't know you were such a gentleman" giggled Judy.
"I may be a fox, but I have some rules " replied Nick seriously. There were about a dozen people in the vehicle, who were also most likely going to their work. Judy took her favourite seat at the end of the vehicle, she was hoping to be alone, but next to her sat Nick with an ironic smile for him.
"I hope I'm not interrupting " said Nick seeing Judy's confused face. She giggled and then turned the other way, looking through the glass.
"'She's acting strange today' thought Nick rubbing his badge. Fox was a little less put together than Judy, and you could see that his badge had been worn before. It was a little dusty, but thankfully there was no scratch on it.
"It's only the beginning of the day, and I already wish it was evening already!" thought Judy, hoping that Nick wouldn't start another dialogue. She had to sort out her thoughts in her head for a moment, this was not a good time to talk about her feelings. The tram was hardly a romantic place when it came to such matters.
"I'll start talking to him about it at the patrol..."
"What are you thinking about?" asked Nick, causing Judy to sigh which amused the fox a little and embarrassed the rabbit.
"Over nothing important...at all how do you know that..."
"I guess, you don't think you can't see your face in the window" laughed the fox. Rabbit shuddered again and growled quietly at her stupidity. It was that moment when her mind was going stupid and she couldn't focus on anything. That was why she hoped she would only see Nick at the police station. Then she would be able to occupy her head with something other than Nick, but she hadn't expected the fox to go near her house to see how she felt. It was so sweet...but it happened at the wrong time for her.
"Well don't fret any more, we're already there" Nick said as the tram stopped and the vehicle doors opened. The stop was literally 50 metres from the police station building. Fox let Judy pass and then they both stood at the stop.
"Be focused, be focused, be focused..." repeated in Judy's head when she suddenly felt a chill on her left foot.
"Woah!" made a sound Judy looked down at her feet. Nick did too, then burst out laughing.
"Yeah..." sighed heavily Judy wrinkling her brow seeing her wet leg. She stepped over a rather deep puddle. It had rained last night which made puddles in some places.
"Silly rabbit" laughed Nick walking on.
