Hello everyone! I am still working on my other story, Finding it in You but this popped into my head as I was listening to my playlist. This is going to be a short, few chapter story. This is based on Taylor Swifts, 'Better Than Revenge'. I recommend listening too it. I don't own the song or the characters. I hope you all enjoy!
'God damn it,' Levy thought. She sat at the bar in the guildhall. It seemed pretty normal to anyone else who walked in, except for Levy. This blue-haired beauty was having one of the worst summers of her life. Usually, it's great; plenty of missions, swimming, picnics, the whole works. Unlike every other summer previously, this had turned from bad to the worst.
Levy sipped on her lemonade as she watched a tall, busty, brunette make her way through the many patrons filling the hall. She narrowed her eyes as the brunette made her way to a darkened corner of the guild, the only corner that held a booth, that held a certain dragon slayer. Her eye twitched as she watched her sit on his lap, pulling his lips closer to hers. 'That should be me'
Levy didn't realize as her grip tightened on her glass, shattering it to pieces. Glass, ice, and pale yellow liquid fell over the bartop and her lap. She looked at her hand watching as blood slowly dripped down from a cut.
"Oh! Levy! Are you okay?" Mira asked, running over to her place at the bar. Levy looked down at the mess she had made, before looking around as eyes started to gaze over at the interaction. She turned back to Mira. "Yeah, Mira. I'm fine. I didn't realize how hard I was holding it." Mira looked at her with saddened eyes. Of course, Mira knew what was actually going on. She was always hopeful that Levy would give her beautiful, red-eyed children. Mira wrapped her hand lightly in a small cloth as Lucy made her way over.
"Levy! What happened to your hand?" Mira looked over to Lucy.
"Lucy, will you bring her to the infirmary and help her with the cut. I'll get this cleaned up." Lucy nodded as she grabbed onto Levy's arm. They both walked silently down the hall. Levy gave a glance back hoping his eyes would be on hers. She thought he was actually looking at her before his attention was diverted back to the girl sitting on his lap.
Lucy pulled her along before placing her down on one of the infirmary beds. She began rummaging through the cabinets and carrying over supplies. Neither said a word until Lucy started wrapping up the newly stitched wound in a clean bandage.
"Levy. What's going on? I've never seen you like this," Lucy asked. Levy clenched her untouched fist in her skirt.
"She stole him from me Lu. I was so close." Lucy looked at her, before grabbing her fisted hand.
"You care to elaborate. I'm not sure what the whole story was."
Levy bit her lip. Anger raged through her. "Okay, I'll tell you the whole thing then."
It had been about a month ago. Levy thought she was actually getting somewhere with the rough dragon slayer. They had started going on missions together, sitting at the same booth in the guild, he even walked her home a few times. She thought it was going along swimmingly.
The guild has been receiving new members daily. One of them was Alicia Nelson. She's a mage who works with various elements, almost like an alchemist. She was also strong and could hold her own, even in the many brawls that happen in the hall.
Levy didn't really have an opinion of her, but something always felt off about her. She did flirt often with many of the patrons and guildmates, she could drink almost as well as Cana, and took more difficult missions. That was probably where she started getting close to Gajeel. They had gone out on a few missions together that usually requested a dark guild be taken out or something similar.
Gajeel had still stayed close to Levy, even with Alicia trying to push her way through their friendship. Of course, Levy could see what she was trying to do, but Gajeel is a guy and that pretty much explains itself. Levy put it off in the back of her mind. Gajeel never seemed romantically interested in her anyway.
About two weeks after she had joined, the city of Magnolia was preparing for their summer festival. Levy had summoned all of the courage she had and invited Gajeel to go with her personally. The moment he grumbled out 'yes', Lucy helped Levy get ready. Lucy took care of her friend's hair and make-up and got her dressed in a short, blue, and gold yukata. Levy was definitely excited for Gajeel to see her like this.
She met him in Magnolia Park; in front of the tree where that incident had happened all of those years ago. Levy had forgiven him for what had happened, and Gajeel was slowly working on his way to forgiving himself.
Gajeel was dressed in long, dark silver yukata. His was open to allow his tanned chest to show. Levy could only stare at how dark and sexy he looked. It seemed Gaeel had felt somewhat at the same from the slight blush that crept across his face when he spotted Levy in hers. Hers was short enough to allow her long, milky legs to be seen, but long enough that it was still modest.
They had made their way through the venues and stalls. Both ate plentifully, played some games, and had enjoyed each other's company. They made their way over to the open field, waiting for the fireworks to start. Lanterns illuminated the streets of magnolia, and small children scurried around; trying to find the best viewing spots.
They both came to stop at an oak tree, Levy sat down, resting her back against the rough bark. Gajeel followed suit, resting close enough for their shoulders to touch lightly. Dusk had almost fully settled, allowing a black to blanket the sky. Levy looked over at Gajeel.
"So. Did you enjoy tonight? Even though this isn't your scene," she teased. Gajeel scoffed and smirked at her.
"I had fun Shorty. Definitely filled up enough. Too bad they didn't sell any iron snacks."
Levy laughed. "I can always make you some. You just have to ask. I don't mind it."
Gajeel looked over at her, a small smile appearing. "I may just have to take you up on that."
Both sat in that comfortable silence, waiting for the fireworks. Levy knew that it was now or never. She wanted to let him know how she felt. It felt agonizing to keep waiting. Levy took a deep breath and looked directly at him. Red meeting brown. "Hey, Gajeel? I need to tell you something." Gajeel released a breath that he didn't know he was holding. He nodded at her to continue.
"Listen Gajeel. For a while now I-."
"Hey, Gajeel! I finally found you!" Both looked at the sound. Turning their heads, they watched as Alicia came running towards them. Her chest bouncing as she moved. Levy's face remained blank. 'Why did she have to come now?'
She stood in front of him, looking down at him as she tugged on his sleeve. "Listen, i need to talk to you about something important. Can you come with me for a moment?" Alica was pretty, Levy wouldn't deny. She wore an overly short red yukata, her cleavage protruding greatly, and Gajeel could almost glance up at her short dress. He sighed and glanced at Levy.
"Can't this wait till tomorrow?" She shook her head.
"Please Gajeel? It has to be done tonight. I promise you will be back before the fireworks start."
Gajeel let out another sigh as he stood. He looked down at Levy, her brown eyes almost pleading that he shouldn't go. "I'll be back Shrimp. Don't go anywhere." Levy nodded as his back turned, following Alicia. She watched them disappear. Something in her gut told her something was wrong.
After a few minutes, although it felt like hours, Levy decided to go search for the dragon slayer. She followed the path they took. Her eyes wandered as she looked for his figure. 'He's pretty tall so it shouldn't be hard. But then again, I'm short.' Levy continued down the hill, before coming to a sakura tree. She saw both figures talking before Alicia pushed him against the tree. She started to call out his name but was drowned out by the sound of the fireworks. At the same moment, Alicia pressed her lips against his. Her hands tangled into his dark hair as she pressed her chest against his.
Levy didn't know what to think. Her vision clouded with tears. Her hands came up to her mouth, holding in her sobs as Gajeel gripped her waist, pulling her closer. Levy turned and ran. Trying to erase the memory from her mind.
"After that, I went home, cried to sleep, and tried to put it behind me," Levy said as she had finished her story. Lucy suddenly stood and began pacing the infirmary.
"I knew something was up with her. She tried doing something similar to Natsu but he pushed off her advances and we were always gone on missions. I'm so sorry Levy. Mavis, I'm so angry now."
Levy looked at Lucy in a slight shock. 'So she's tried it on Natsu.' Levy grabbed Lucy by the shoulders, getting her attention.
"Lu, you know what this means? We can try to gather some evidence that she's been putting advances on multiple people."
Lucy stared at her friend. "But how are you going to do that? And what exactly will you do?"
Levy gave her friend a smirk. "I'm going to show everyone that she's fake. She's trying to put on a show. That could make her leave the guild."
Lucy wasn't sure what to make of this. Her friend never acted like this before and it became a new territory. But Lucy knew she was hurting and she felt that there something was wrong with Alicia as well. She gave her friend a worried look. "Levy, are you sure you want to do this. It's not like you."
Levy smiled as she walked back to the infirmary doors. "Lu, I'm one of the smartest, bookworm mages in Fiore. I may not have physical strength but I have the mental strength and there's nothing I do better than revenge."
