Percy Jackson and the Avengers

So this is not going to be your typical Percy Jackson/Avengers crossover. I've seen hundreds, and most of them are poorly written and so filled with unrealistic clichés that I actually physically cringe when reading the description. So this story is my attempt to give the hundreds of fans out there a realistic story that combines the two world of Gods and Monsters. So the Battle of Manhattan occurs August 16th, 2009-August 18th, 2009 in which Kronos is defeated. The War with Gaea which occurs in June 25th, 2010-August 1st, 2010 which makes Percy still 16. Percy then turns 17 shortly after, and then turn 18 in 2011. The Attack on New York by Loki occurs on May 4th 2012 which would make Percy 18 still. The exact date of Loki's arrival on earth is iffy, but let's go off what we know. He arrived at night, two days later he was captured at night. The next morning he manages to escape and attacks New York. This rough timeline puts his arrival on the Night of May 1st 2012. Thus we begin this story on May 2nd.

Jason has become the Pontifex Maximus of the Roman Camp, and Percy is the clear leader of the Greek camp. Reyna retains her title of Praetor, and Frank is a Praetor as well since Percy gave him the title when he gave up his position. Percy is also declared the General of the Olympian Armies, both Greek and Roman after a new Great Prophecy is issued.

Prologue

Percy Jackson looked around at the Camp. Since the war with Gaea, both Half-blood camps had been emptier than usual. They had all suffered severe losses in that war, but amazingly they had also managed to affect real change. With the conflict between the Greeks and the Romans finished, the leaders of the two camps had come together and agreed that they needed to work together. Annabeth had immediately taken charge of the rebuilding process for Camp Half-blood, and already a city was well under construction. New Athens would be similar to New Rome in many ways.

One of the many things the leaders of both Camps had decided, was that a means of quick and efficient communication and transportation between the two camps was needed, so with the help of Hecate a kind of Permanent IM was decided upon. Demigods couldn't travel through it, but it would allow for quick communication and the Romans and the Greeks could easily be at the other camp within a day if needed thanks to the efforts of Leo and Hephaestus. Much like the Argo II these ships were capable of flight and could cross the country in a matter of hours. Both camps would also have a few changes in the way they were run. Camp Half-blood would become a little more militaristic. The campers would train as more than just cabins, although they still did that, each week they would train as one cohesive unit, incorporating some Roman strategies into their fighting. The Romans would train more to be able to fight individually if needed. The satyrs were beyond busy with collecting the children of the Gods, and Chiron had also been contacting dozens of older campers who had already turned 18 and left camp. Most of them had had no idea of the fact that Kronos had risen, nor that Gaea had awoken and been defeated. When they learned that a third great war was approaching, one that apparently had the potential to end half of all life in the universe if lost, nearly every single one of them had agreed to come back to camp, burgeoning their diminished numbers enough that they could actually manage to send out a few raiding parties against groups of Monsters that had scattered after Gaea was defeated. The hunters of Artemis had barely been seen or heard from since the end of the war as Artemis was tasked with hunting them down. Their numbers had also diminished but were replenishing faster than the two camps as Artemis began to take in more mortals.

But it wasn't all good either. Mere hours after they had won the battle against Gaea, Rachel had issued a new Great Prophecy. Percy hadn't been present for it, nor did he know all the words, but from what he had been told Olympus would potentially be at war yet again. Apparently everyone and their Mother that the gods had pissed off were coming out of the wood work seeking vengeance. Personally, Percy hoped that it wasn't Tartarus. He still had nightmare about his and Annabeth's time in the Pit.

"What's on your mind Seaweed brain?" Annabeth said from beside him.

"It's only been a year since the war with Gaea ended. We can't afford another one but Apollo thinks that the prophecy Rachel issued will happen soon. Or rather the beginnings of it will happen soon. We didn't even have the chance to really recover from the war with Kronos, before the war with the Romans and much less the war with Gaea. I don't think the camps can handle another war. The romans are in better shape than Camp Half-blood because the war with Kronos mostly happened here, but they too suffered losses. And both camps were decimated by the war with Gaea."

"Well there's no use in wondering. It'll happen when it happens. Instead you should focus on making sure that camp is ready. We've got a lot of work to do still." Percy nodded and followed Annabeth to the sword arena where Percy was supposed to teach a group of new campers how to fight. Beginning the now familiar routine, Percy allowed his thoughts to disperse, and focused on nothing but the sword in his hands and the students in front of him. Eventually the conch horn blew signaling that it was time for dinner and Percy capped Riptide, and began to make his way towards the pavilion. A quick dinner later found Percy making his way to the lake. Upon arriving he noticed a familiar figure fishing. "Father." He said as he came to stand beside Poseidon.

"Son, how are you?" Poseidon asked, turning to run an eye over Percy critically. "I've been better. The nightmares don't bother me so much anymore. I just wish that we weren't preparing camp to fight yet another war. But we know one is coming, and a big one at that."

"Indeed. Unfortunately, this isn't a social call. It's started. A Norse God, Loki, has broken the Olympian-Asgardian treaty. He's already destroyed an American government facility, and dozens are already dead. He's also enslaved a few others. My brother has ordered he be hunted down and brought to Olympus to face the council."

"And Zeus needs me to do the hunting?" Percy guessed. Poseidon nodded. "Correct. The Norse aren't true gods, they are merely extremely powerful and long lived, but Loki isn't known as the god of trickery and deceit for nothing. You'll need to be on your guard with him. Also, you should know that a mortal agency is hunting for him, and may attempt to interfere with your taking him into custody. Asgard has been out of contact for a few years so we are unaware if they will attempt to bring him in themselves or if they are behind his invasion. This isn't the first time in recent years that they came to Earth. Last time they were here, a small town and New Mexico was destroyed."

"Great so if he's not a true god, he's not bound by the ancient laws is he?"

"No. Which is why you need to leave soon. Hermes will be by to tell you when we have a location. Be ready." With that Poseidon dissolved into mist and was swept away by the breeze. Percy stood staring at the spot where his father had been but seconds before, before he turned and began making his way to the big house. His hands went to the Conch shell that was on his hip. Another new addition since the war with Gaea. All the head counselors kept a conch shell on them incase of an emergency. One blow was a medical emergency, two the camp was under attack, and three summoned the head counselors for a war meeting. Percy put it to his lip and blew. Once. Twice. Thrice. He then continued his way up to the big house, the camp bursting into activity. The children of Ares began to put armor on, rushing towards the perimeter, followed shortly by the other cabins, and the cabin counselors began to make their way to the big house. By the time Percy arrived, Chiron was attempting to restore order.

"ENOUGH!" Percy shouted silencing the cabins. "Poseidon just visited," He began. "It's starting." Pen-drop silence. "We need to bring the Romans in." Chiron said finally with a sigh. Annabeth nodded and reached over to turn on the IM like machine portal thingy that Hecate had set between the two camps. Immediately Hazel came into view. Upon seeing the full room instead of the usual one to two people who would be there, she turned to someone else that Percy couldn't see and told them to summon Frank, Reyna, and Jason. A minute later the three leaders of New Rome came into view.

"What is it?" Jason asked slightly annoyed that his time with Piper who was visiting was interrupted.

"It's starting. Poseidon was just here. I'm to hunt down a rogue Asgardian. I think that you guys should come here as quickly as possible. We have no clue what exactly is going to happen, but undoubtedly it will be a battle. He didn't come here to pick flowers." Percy said, quickly explaining the situation. Jason nodded along with Percy explanation.

"I agree. The problem is we don't know anything about his purpose, or what he intends to do. But if he's spitting in the face of the Olympians like this, I think he'd probably try something in New York." Reyna cut in when Percy finished. "It would make sense. Does he have an army with him? What's his goals. We'll come, but we need more information." Frank told the gathered half-bloods.

"Well, I'll attempt to figure that out. Hermes will let me know as soon as the Olympians locate him." No sooner had he spoke than a paper appeared before him.

"Stuttgart, Germany. Mortals already aware." Percy read. "Well that settles it. I'll take Blackjack with me, and leave as soon as we finish here."

"No. Go now." Jason said. "Hazel, summon the legion. Four blasts. We're going to New Athens."

"And may the gods be with us all." Reyna mumbled. Percy nodded, standing up from his seat and then heading out to his cabin to grab his armor. Made by Leo, it was designed as a mostly Greek style, but you could see the Roman influences if you knew what you were looking for. It took little time for him to suit up, and with a few adjustments, he was ready. It seemed like the entire camp was at the stables when he arrived, blackjack already waiting. The veterans of the last two wars were stone faced and standing the closest to Blackjack. The ones who hadn't been in the wars wore excited and semi-awed looks on their faces. They simply thought it was so cool that he was going on a mission. They didn't realize that he was going to stop a war from coming to them. They didn't know the terror that came with knowing that if you failed some of these very faces wouldn't be there anymore.

Ignoring everyone until he was mounted on Blackjack, Percy turned to the crow of demigods. "The Romans will be here within a day. Should I fail, you must go to the Empire state building, and prepare to defend Olympus."

"Good luck seaweed brain." Annabeth told him. With a nod and a mental command Blackjack began to gallop away, his wings unfurling and with a few flaps Percy was but a distant speck in the night sky.

"Good luck Percy. And may the gods be with you."
