Part 16
New York City's Channel One Recent Breaking News Recap.
"Hello, this is Janet from New York Channel 1 and today we have a major news story about New York City's very own Avengers. Over to Pat with the story."
"Hello, this is Pat Kiernan of New York Channel One here with an update about our city's very own Avengers. As we all know the group first came into the spotlight when they fended off the attempted Alien invasion, whose species has been identified in a White House Press Release from President Ellis as Chitauri. The group contains Iron Man, Billionaire genius Tony Stark in his self-made suit of unknown methods or materials, the blueprints and the suit itself now likely his best-guarded secret. Then there are two elusive United States secret agents, one with vivid brick-red hair, she operates under the codename Black Widow. The other is known for his high-tech bow and arrows and 100% accuracy, operating under the codename Hawkeye. There is also Captain America, Steven Grant Rogers, a supersoldier defrosted from the iceberg he has been in since his plane went down at the end of WWII. The only non-united states member is an Alien with superhuman abilities of weather manipulation, specifically thunder and lightning who goes by Thor, most likely to honor the legendary norse god of Thunder. Not much is known about him.
And the last member is Gamma Radiation genius scientist researcher Bruce Banner. Three years ago, a gamma ray experiment went wrong and turned him into a eight foot two inches, or two and a half meter tall green raging monster who got stronger the more he fought. It was later revealed that Gamma radiation researcher Bruce Banner was caught in a malfunction in an experiment and the results were that the monster was barely contained inside of him. General Ross, also heavily involved in the incident with Doctor Banner, has issued a press release this morning that yesterday, an outside organization with unproven, risky, healing methods, was running a test to see whether or not their method could cure extremely rare, one of a kind afflictions. Doctor Banner volunteered for the study, and the force of pure destruction known as the Hulk has been healed, and Doctor Banner is once again healthy, with normal gamma radiation levels, and back at his old job as a researcher and lecturer at his alma mater of Culver University.
However, that is not the only news coming from what has been dubbed Avengers Tower, officially known as Stark Tower. Last night, a huge energy pulse of an as of yet unknown variety was reported coming from the top floors of the tower, reportedly the Avenger's private quarters. Mister Stark has said that they are not willing to release too much information yet, but that it was a test of a new superhuman the Avengers might possibly recruit.
We have no confirmed information or details as of yet, but we at Channel One have a theory. Yesterday morning, there were confirmed reports that the Nazi's R & D division, called Hydra, that has been rumored to persist to this day does still exist and is still dangerous. However, the Avengers have been fighting it. A base in the smalleastern european city-state of Sokovia has been busted, confirmed reports state that Captain America was there, while some say they witnessed Iron Man or Hawkeye there as well. All employees of the ase have been taken into Sokovian police custody awaiting trial.
From these reports, we were also, with some careful digging, able to uncover some new interesting facts about the superhero team. Interestingly enough, unlike their visit to Germany four months ago to help stall the invasion on New York, without international visas and permission to do so, which was later resolved as with reasonable cause at the United Nations, this time all the paperwork was in order. However, Tony Stark himself stated that all of the avengers are horrible at official paperwork, knowing that he relies on his assistant, Miss Virginia Potts to do so for him, while the others have Black Widow and Hawkeye's agency's people who specialize in paperwork pave the way for them.
This time, however, the Avengers now have a new, independent of their superspy organization, ally. The official visas were created by Her Majesty the Queen of England, through personal request from Duchess Rose Potter-Black of the House of Lords, via the Avengers now all having honorary British Citizenships and passports granted by the Queen.
Rose Potter-Black, officially Duchess Black, inherited the title two decades ago, upon being emancipated at the age of seventeen, from her godfather, the previous Duke Black, as his only heir, when he was killed in a targeted terrorist attack. Duchess Black has, since then, reportedly either joined or funded the special ops group that took down the terrorist and hiss organization at fault for the murder of both the late Duke Black and Duchess Black's mother when she was a year old. Since then, it has been noted that Duchess Potter's godson, Edward "Teddy" Lupin-Black, also the late Duke Sirius Black's cousin from his mothers side, has always been with her at any official functions where she appears as Duchess Black, and she has previously stated that she has no want of the title, and intends to pass it on to her godson upon his legal maturity.
When asked for a statement, Duchess Black stated that she and the Avengers had a mutually beneficial relationship, going on to say that she and Mister Stark have previously enjoyed a good working partnership on personal projects, while she is personal friends with Captain Rogers, and has a pleasant acquaintanceship with the rest of the team.
Now, as for more news…" He pressed a hand to his earpiece and looked at the TelePrompTer. "We have an update. As of three minutes ago, a meeting of the British House of Lords has commenced, and, folks, some things are going down. Already, Duchess Black had stepped down and passed the reins on to her newly emancipated godson and ward Edward Lupin-Black. Let us cut to the live feed."
A/N: posting this on August 31st, 2021, my fifth year of Ilvermorny should have been starting tomorrow, yet where my invitation is I still don't know. Fifth-year in a row my owl seems to have gotten lost. Damn Rapport's laws. (though actually if I was in the wizarding world, you can see my explanation for this in one of my other fics, I think I wrote it into Four Musketeers or maybe DLP, but I would actually support Rapport's laws. Just for clarification that was a joke and please tell me someone at least knows what those are).
