Chapter 17: Obligatory beach Chapter

"Shirou…"

"What?"

"That's a hoodie."

"Yes, it is."

"...Where's the swimsuit you bought?"

"I'm wearing it." I gestured to my swimming trunks "I just decided to wear a hoodie as well." I shrug at Tohru, who is now pouting at me.

"It seems unfair to Great mother that you buy a swimsuit and don't even show it off." She sighs and shakes her head "Not like Kobayashi-san's beautiful figure!" she gestures to the red head with a wide grin.

Kobayashi just stares at the chest area of the two older dragons surrounding her and then scowls, muttering something to herself about the unfairness of the world.

"Well…" Shouta sighs "At least they took the succubus away from me…" I almost snort at that.

Lucoa, despite me attempting to clear up the slight misunderstanding, has done everything in her power to virtually convince Shouta that she is, in fact, a demonic creature after his vitality.

Her rather...provocative...swimsuit ended up causing one of the lifeguards to take her away to have it changed.

"I'm sure she'll be back." I sigh and shake my head, then look over to Tiamat. She has somewhat pale skin, so I am a little concerned about her staying in the sunlight for too long "You're not uncomfortable, are you?"

"I'm fine." She replies with a smile "I have such a caring child…"

"Emiya…" Kobayashi leans in and whispers at me "When did she learn how to speak?"

"When we bought the butler outfit." I reply, something flashes in her eyes and she looks at me with a disturbing intensity.

"You know…"

"No. I am not going to become your personal butler." I deny her instantly, she frowns at me and throws her arms in the air.

"Why not!? Are you saying your too good to be a butler, huh!?"

"Don't bully my son." Tiamat interrupts her with a frown "If he doesn't want to be your 'butler' he doesn't have to be...but he was a very nice looking young man in the outfit." she mutters to herself. I release a sigh as Kobayashi gestures to her with a knowing expression

"See!" She smirks "Even your dragon mother knows that you would be perfect as a butler!"

"And what about Tohru?" I raise an eyebrow at her "How would she react to me suddenly replacing her?"

"No!" Tohru squeals and throws herself around Kobayashi "Don't replace me! I'll surpass Shirou's cooking and be the best maid ever! Don't get rid of me!"

"Now look what you've done…" Tiamat sighs and pulls Tohru off of Kobayashi and into a hug, patting the back of her head "There, there...mothers here…"

Kobayashi cringes and suddenly looks very awkward.

"Hey, Emiya-san?" Shouta asks me, I look down to see him staring at the display in bewilderment "Does being a mage always lead to these weird situations?"

"...I don't know kid…" I sigh and shake my head "Knowing my luck...yeah."

"You ever been to the beach before, Shirou?" Kobayashi asks me as we sit underneath an umbrella, Tohru doing stretches while Kanna just stands off to the side, staring at the beach with a longing expression.

"Not really." I reply "Never really appealed to me all that much."

"You too, eh?" Kobayashi sighs "To be honest, I'm not too big a fan of the beach either."

"Eh!?" Tohru spins round with a look of absolute horror "You aren't!?"

"Well, you get sunburnt easily and I don't like sand, its coarse, rough and irritating and it gets everywhere."

"I prefer the indoors too." Shouta pipes up, a 'what can you do?' expression on his face. I don't really care myself one way or the other. We didn't really have a proper beach like this in Fuyuki city and the old man never really took me out of the city.

"Well why did you and Shirou even agree to come then?" Tohru asks with a frown, I pointedly look at Tiamat. She's just giving me a proud smile, although she does look slightly disappointed in my hoodie. I don't know why.

"You asked and I couldn't really give a reason not to." I shrug. Also Tiamat wanted to come and I got the feeling she'd bring me along whether I wanted to or not.

"Did you not want to play at the beach, Onii-chan?" Kanna asks with an innocent expression. I choke on air as it registers in my head what she just called me.

"Kanna...why did you call me 'Onii-chan'?"

"Because Shirou is Onii-chan." She points at Tiamat "Mama Tiamat said so."

"Its not good to ignore your siblings, little one." Tiamat shakes her head "Go out and play with her. Make sure she doesn't get sunburnt! Have fun!~"

I sigh and rub my forehead, standing up and popping my arms "Alright." I nod, then look down at Kanna "What do you want to do?"

"...I don't know." She stares up at me "What do you want to do?"

"...Wanna make sand castles?"

"Okay." She nods her head "How do I do that?"

"You get a bucket and some wet sand." I gesture to the equipment she brought with her, rather conveniently although I suspect Kobayashi had a hand in it "The fill the bucket up, when its pressed in, you place it on the ground and pull the bucket up to reveal your sand castle."

"...How big can I make it?" She asks as she stares at the small bucket in her hands, then back at me.

"As big as you want…" I reply, then remember she's a dragon "Within reason." I hastily add on.

"Okay!"

"Shirou…"

"Yes…" I nod my head and sigh "Yes, I know…"

"I thought you said she'd be reasonable." Kobayashi dryly remarks as me, then points to the now fort made of sand "This is not reasonable."

Kanna had used her powers, conveniently going unnoticed, and decided to construct a rather large fort made of sand. Which is now filled with people and I can see a small crowd gathering around us to take photographs.

"Kanna!" I shout up at her, the small girl staring me down from the battlements "Can you come down for a second?"

"Okay Onii-chan." She replies, then disappears and reappears in front of me. I sigh.

"Kanna...what did I tell you about how to act."

"Act like a human."

"At what point does Magic constitute acting like a Human?"

"But you can use magic." She tilts her head at me "So can Shouta-san."

"...Alright, but most people can't." I give her a strained smile "So...refrain from doing things that Kobayashi-san can't do."

"...Okay...are you mad?"

"No…" I sigh "Just…" I look over the fort "Just a little tired right now...I thought I told you to be reasonable."

"I was." She nods her head at me "It wasn't as big as I wanted it."

Myself and Kobayashi look at eachother with growing concern, then back to the girl "Just how big did you want it?"

"...Big."

I let out another sigh and crouch down to her level "Kanna...in the future...make it smaller…"

"Let her have her fun, little one." Timats voice sings as she walks up and picks Kanna up, cradling the girl like a baby "I think its very impressive."

"Yay." Kanna raises her hand in a fist punch into the sky. I shake my head at the dragon goddess.

"Please don't encourage her Tia-" I bit my tongue at he glare she sends me way "Mother…" her smile returns "I just don't want her to attract...undue attention."

"Awww…" She reaches out and ruffles my hair "My children are so protective of eachother. If you keep this up, mother will feel inadequate."

I don't miss the gleam of amusement in Kobayahi's eyes and send a frown her way, she looks away from me and starts to whistle like she's done nothing wrong. Then I notice something.

"Kobayashi-san?"

"Yes?"

"Where's Tohru?"

"...Huh?" She looks around, sure enough there's no sign of her anywhere "Where…?"

"Kobayashi-san!" We both hear a familiar voice shout out from behind us, I turn around and immediately slam my palm into my face.

"Damn it…" Kobayashi's reaction is similar to my own, Tohru decided to get in on the action and made her own sand castle.

Only she took the title far too literally.

She's standing up on the wall of a literal fortress staring down at us, I can us about make out her wide smile "Look Kobayashi-san! I made a bigger one!" She crosses her arms and puffs out her chest "Isn't it impressive!? Please praise my creative masterpiece!"

"Tohru!?" Kobayashi shouts out in alarm and runs to her, freaking out slightly over the even larger crowd gathering around the base of the castle walls "What are you doing!?"

"Preparing to welcome the insignificant humans!" She grins and looks down to her sandy gate "Lucoa!"

"Yes, yes…" She calls back and walks to the crowd "I'd like to welcome you all to our holy selection to castle…"

"Kobayashi!"

"Castle Kobayashi." She gives a sad smile "Unfortunately, not everyone is welcome here…" she then looks around "Shouta-kun? Where are you! You're going to miss the selection!"

"What the…" I stare in bewilderment at the scene straight out of a fantasy movie.

"Shirou!" Something crashes into my back, I turn my head and look down to see Shouta cowering behind me "You have to hide me from that succubus!"

"What?" I raise an eyebrow at him "What had Lucoa done no-"

"Shouta-kun! I'll let you rub sunscreen on me!"

"...Nevermind." I sigh and shake my head "But please, at least try and talk her down from this entire affair." I look around "We're drawing far too much attention to ourselves like this…"

"Of course we are." Shouta replies to me frantically "She's a demon! That's how she attracts victims!"

Elsewhere

"Achoo!" A tanned man with golden hair and one arm released a weight sneeze, the white haired girl in front of him flinched in surprise then stared at him in concern.

"Teacher? Are you alright?"

"I am fine." He replied back "Most curious, I did not feel the bodily reaction until it began."

"Maybe someone was talking about you?"

"...If that were true, I expect I would be sneezing more often." He shook his head and stared down at her "You have paperwork to continue, as well as reports to write I believe."

"...Yes." The girl sighed "I like working, but I struggle to think of anyone who likes this much paperwork."

"Achoo!" The knight in black armour released a sneeze, he quickly covered his mouth to prevent his report being ruined.

"Oh? Is Aggy getting a little ill?" A mischievous voice spoke up, causing the man to scowl "Perhaps you should go a look for a healer, we can carry on tomorrow."

"The paperwork will still be here tomorrow, Robin." He glared at her "So unless you wish to overburden us both with additional work, I suggest you return to your task."

The girl pouted and looked away "Fine...I bet the other knights didn't have to put up with this."

"You genuinely believe I would let that oaf Gawain anywhere near paperwork?"

"Achoo!" A blonde haired man released a sneeze, the purple haired girl in dark armour recoiled in surprise then gave him a concerned look.

"Sir Gawain? Are you feeling alright?"

"It is nothing, Lady Carmilla." He sent her a reassuring smile "Perhaps someone was speaking of me."

"I hope Corrin talks about me…" Carmilla moped, Gawain cringed at the reaction.

"Achoo!" A white haired girl sneezed causing the platinum blonde man to look at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Are you ill, Milady?"

"No, no…" She shook her head "Its probably nothing Bedivere." she smiled at him "I think perhaps someone was talking about me…"

"Most unusual."

Back to the Chaos

I blink a few times. I have the strangest feeling that something happened there. I shake away such thoughts and look down at Shouta "Look...if this continues, how long before we both ending getting dragged into whatever they do next."

"...Fine." He eventually relents "I'll see what I can-"

"Don't trouble yourselves." Timat sighs and sets Kanna down on the ground "I'll just have to discipline some overactive children."

"Tia-...Mother." I correct myself "Are you sure, I don't want to trouble you-"

"Hush now." She smiles at me "Let Mama do something for once." her angelic smile takes a more dangerous turn and reminds me of Tohsaka when she gets angry about something as she struts towards Tohru and Lucoa.

"Shirou-san?" Shouta speaks from my side, a slightly nervous tint in his voice "I think I'm afraid of your mother."

"...Me too."

You may have noticed a little connection in the middle of my Chapter, more of a sneak peak at stuff that will be occurring in the future.

Omake: Peculiar relationship

"You're...you're strange…" Tohru said as she looked down at the red eyed boy, he stared up at her with slight confusion of his own "You...feel like Fafnir-san but...you're not him…"

"Ara!" Lucoa suddenly pipes up, looking completely surprised "Are you perhaps his child!?"

"Huh?/What?" Myself and Caster look at her in confusion at the same time, then at eachother.

"No...Sorry." Caster shakes his head "I'm...related to Fafnir-san but I'm not his child…"

"Really?" Lucoa tilts her head "But you feel like a dragon."

"Ah...I'm a homunculus...I think."

"You think?"

"Yes...sorry…"

"You say that a lot, don't you?" Lucoa looks at him in a concerned way, Caster just shrugs at her.

"Sorry."

"What is going on in...here…?" Fafnir barges into the room, then trails off as he stares at Caster with growing confusion "Who are you?"

"Sieg." Fafnir cringes at the name.

"...Terrible name." He shakes his head "You are now Fafnir Jr."

"But my name is-"

"Fafnir Jr." He stares at him more intently "Can you turn into a dragon?"

"Well...yes...but-"

"Good. Fafnir Jr. it is." He nods his head and looks at Tohru and Lucoa "Come on, we're teaching him how to be a proper dragon."

"But-"

"Lets go." Caster sends me a confused look, all I can do is shrug at him.
