Prologue
The night grew still and almost silently as it swept its long veil over the continent of Africa. Rising to meet the stars were the thick brown smoke emitting from the passive rage of fire. The sounds of thundering bombs, rhythmic bullets and the thumping booms of gigantic footsteps shattered the otherwise tranquil atmosphere. However, one single sound would drown all else; the deep rumbling bellow of a biblical colossus, stretching far for what seemed like a minute at least. Such a roar belonged to only one creature.
Slowly wandering on all fours and standing at about a hundred feet above the tiny humans below, unshaken by their panicked gunfire, was a cold grey reptilian beast with pebble-like scales protruding across its long neck and back, and atop its elephant-like head stood a single curved horn that glowed a faint yet sickly green. Its trunk and pointing-downward tusks scythed down at the ageing buildings into mere rubble and its tail, twice as long as the rest of its body, waved from side to side, knocking back a few unlucky obstacles.
It was he who stops the flow of rivers, the Titan of the Congo. It was Mokele-Mbembe.
Stomping and crushing some of the futile humans, the Titan dominated the warzone. He lifted a foot and knocked back a few of the pests. From behind, he slammed down his tail on a couple more.
"Keep shooting it down!" one of the humans shouted, eyes scowling and teeth tightly clenched together. "We gotta take it down now!"
"But none of our guns are leaving even a single scratch on that thing!" another human retorted, eyes wide and face drenched with greasy droplets of sweat.
"Just keep firing, damnit!"
However, something or rather someone else caught the attention of the Titan. Silhouetted by a wall of flame, stood a lone human being, looking rather different from the rest. Pale in skin, head completely shaven of hair and with a blank stare, this Soldier of God tightly gripped a carbine rifle within his hands before lifting it up and aiming at the beast.
Mokele-Mbembe raised one foot and slammed it back down on the human. The divine human got back up to his feet, as if unmoved by the otherwise deadly attack, not even a single dent. He looked down to see his gun wasn't as lucky as he was, having been bent, mangled and broken upon repair from the attack.
A white spotlight flashed at Mokele-Mbembe's eyes, briefly blinding the massive reptile. Slowly coming down, a chopper came into view, a side-door shifted open, a dart launched from it and shot at the godly soldier. Couple more and the man eventually slurped down to the ground, hard and officially out cold.
A few ropes fell down the helicopter before a few more soldiers reeled down. With one last bellow, the Titan turned away and slowly fled until it faded into the smokey night. Strangely enough, the men seem to ignore the beast and focus entirely the downed immortal human. They lifted up the unconscious man and dragged him to the helicopter Then they put him into a body bag and zipped it up.
To be continued...
