The Master Of Death has noticed that he has stopped aging after the Second Wizarding War against Voldemort. He has decided to leave Britain altogether; taking his godson, Teddy, along with him. He moves to a small town called Jasper, in Nevada. Harry immediately notices that something is afoot with this small town, and a strange blue bike that won't stop following him around.
Chapter 1: The Man With Emerald Jade Eyes
The sudden jarring of turbulence jolted the mid 20-ish man awake from his light slumber, causing him to jolt up a bit with his body tense and looked around with sharp and hardened eyes.
He looked around for a moment before relaxing his tense body, breathing a light sigh of relief as his sharpened mind remembered that he was on a plane to the Americas.
He looked to his right, and smiled at the form of a sleeping child next to him that had dark brown hair and was wearing a red shirt and small jeans.
The man's heart quit hammering in his chest and leaned back into the chair; looking up at the gleaming white ceiling of the 747.
He took a couple of deep breaths to calm himself, before looking across from his aisle; spying a young teenager drawing on her sketchpad, listening to a heavy rock band he has never hear of and yet to listen to.
She has brown eyes, fair skin and medium-long black hair with pink highlights and is worn in a low ponytail and two twintails at the top of her head.
She was wearing a two-toned purple T-shirt under a dark blue tank top with yellow stropes and a little green robot drawing, jean shorts, two-toned purple striped stockings, brown knee-high boots with purple ties and a soft two-toned purple bracelet as a match to her T-shirt.
After quickly assessing her as not a threat, he reached out a hand and gently nudged the young girl to get her attention.
Miko Nakadai was bored out of her mind.
That's not to say that she wasn't bored that often, but the plane ride was beginning to grate on her nerves; so she took out her trusty sketchpad and began to work on a detailed sketch of a bulky green robot that took up most of the page.
She was working on the drawing for the past two and a half hours when a gentle nudge to her shoulder caused her to jump; taking her headphones off that were blaring her favorite rock band, and turning to whoever disturbed her.
She saw a young adult man that had coffee black hair that was slicked back slightly, yet messy enough to deter her from assuming that he was a snob.
She also saw that while he was slim, scrawny at best; she could see from under his dark coat that he had muscle to him to make her think he was athletic.
What caught her attention was his bright emerald jade eyes that glowed with something that Miko was unfamiliar with; yet was able to cause a shiver to run down her spine at those eyes staring at her.
" Can I help you?" She asked, not unkindly, yet teetering at the edge of being rude due to her sketching time being interrupted.
Yet, she was curious to see what the older man wanted from her…
The man spoke softly, and she noticed that he had an accent that could be only from the British Isles, yet held wisdom of a hundred-something year old man.
" I am terribly sorry to disturb you, miss. But I just woke up from my sleep and was wondering what the time was." He asked, his tone suggesting that while he indeed slept, she could tell it wasn't a restful one.
Miko took out her mobile phone from her jean shorts' pocket and flipped it open; checking the time.
3:46 pm.
" It's 14 till 4pm, so that means we have a couple more hours till we reach Nevada." Miko replied, putting her phone back into her pocket, before turning to the man that asked her for the time.
Seriously? Does this guy not know what a cell phone is? She thought to herself in annoyance, slightly confused at how this man doesn't have a phone on him.
The black haired, green- eyed gentleman smiled roguishly, causing his eyes to lighten up in a way that was better than the dim, hardened emerald he held before.
" Thank you kindly, miss." He replied before turning to look outside the window next to the sleeping young boy that came with him aboard the plane.
Miko stared at the man, watching as his straightened posture slumped down slightly and his eyes turned to a hazy lime green; as if he was looking at something far away that wasn't before him in person.
Then, the girl shrugged the uneasy feeling that was weighing on her shoulders and turned back to her sketch of Bulkhead.
Her mind put the question of why the man looked like a war veteran with the way his eyes moved around the area on the backburner for later…
Now, it was Slash Monkey time…
The Henderson Executive Airport was crowded with people from all over the states and beyond; it took another hour for Harry James Potter and Teddy Remus Lupin to get a cab to a hotel.
The young wizard looked out the taxi's window next to him with a sense of awe and slight surprise that he hadn't felt since he was eleven years old.
His story was a complicated matter for how he came to here of all places; but the short version was this:
6 years after the Second Wizarding War, Harry Potter began to notice that while everyone began to look older; he looked like he was still seventeen years old.
After a month of trying to figure it out on how he wasn't becoming old and wrinkly like the others; he chalked it up to wizards having a longer lifespan than regular people, so it took longer for them to age.
But his theory was shot down when he noticed his best friends becoming older as well…
Harry was beginning to panic when Teddy Lupin came into his isolated life; helping him keep busy from the mind boggling questions that plagued his mind by taking care of his Godson.
After another 2 months of isolation; Harry decided that he should get out of Britain, and travel around, see the sights and meet new people.
That was when he put up a map on the wall, and threw a goblin-made dagger at it to pick his first location to sight-see.
And it landed on a small backwater town called Jasper, Nevada.
Harry snapped out of his trance down memory lane when Teddy got his attention.
" Dad? Are you okay?" The 6, almost 7 year old asked the man; feeling concerned that he hadn't answered the question he just asked.
" Hmm?" Harry replied, looking down at his Godson that was looking up at him with concern that melted his war-torn heart.
" Are we going to be moving into a house?" Teddy asked again, feeling slightly relieved that his guardian hadn't gone off into his world again.
Harry thought up the answer for his Godson's question, taking his time to think up the right words to say.
After a moment, he replied.
" Yes. Teddy… I think we are." The man said, drawling in a voice that would make both Severus Snape and Draco Malfoy proud.
The young boy cheered with the widest grin on his face, his blue hair flying about slightly in a way thanks to his mother's metamorphmagus ability that he inherited.
Harry let out a gentle warm smile, his heart melting more at the sight of his Godson's apparent happiness that they were not gonna be moving around too much yet.
He let out a sigh and pulled out a small tattered leather journal and undid the strap that kept it closed.
He opened the journal and turned to an empty page.
Harry put his other hand that wasn't holding the journal into his inside coat pocket, then pulled out a ballpoint pen that was black in color with red metal outlines carved along the shaft of it.
The outlines were a gift from his best friend Hermione Weasley nee Granger; recently married to Ronald Bilius Weasley.
They were runes she personally carved into the metal of the pen, charmed to never run out of ink and easily unbreakable due to her intelligent way to put the Rune Scheme into a hybrid of two different runes.
Harry let out a small sigh at the thought of his older best friends; slightly sad that the relationship between him and Ginny Weasley never worked out after the Final Battle between him and the recent late Dark Lord Voldemort.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts, he clicked open the pen and put it to the pages of his journal.
He wrote:
Day One,
This is it. It's finally happened.
I, Harry James Potter of sound body and mind; has left Wizarding Britain due to the fear of my friends and pseudo family finding out that I am not aging as they are.
I wanted to leave a letter telling them of my reasons for not saying goodbye; but I noticed one thing that no one else seems to know…
They are all happy without me…
Hermione has Ron, Ron has Hermione, the two are practically inseparable after the War and Ron has matured enough to take the responsibilities of being a doting and caring husband to Hermione.
Maybe 'Mione has rubbed off on him… Heh…
I brought Teddy with me so that we could keep each other company, due to Andromeda not being willing to take care of him since her daughter and husband died.
I took up the responsibility to take care of the young Lupin as if he were my own son. I vowed to Remus and Tonks that I would look after him to the best of my ability.
I am not failing that promise…
We have just arrived in Jasper, Nevada; and now I am on the prowl for a small home large enough for two to live comfortably without it being too big…
Any house is better than a cupboard, that's for bloody sure.
Harry snapped his head up at the sound of cars driving past the café window where he and Teddy were stopping for a bite; before relaxing his tense body and putting his journal and pen back into his coat.
He looked down at the newspaper before him and specifically searched the housing section where they always post the newest and more expensive housing.
Harry wasn't pressed for money, he could spend as much as he'd like for the rest of his life and there'd be still a lot left for when he passed.
…If he passed…
He frowned at the pessimistic thought and then continued browsing the tabloid, looking to see if there were any good houses that he can buy for him and his Godson.
Around him the customers that frequently came here, took a look at him and noticed that they don't recognize him or the boy he was with; how could they?
What they didn't know was that even though the man had the aura of a noble, and the eyes of a soldier looked normal and calm at the moment…
There is More Than Meets The Eye when it comes to Harry James Potter and his luck…
