Prologue

"You heard me pal I love you! Love you! Who else do you think has been stalking you night and day, building shrines for you in a closet and filling volumes of books with poems about you? I love you Arnold, I've always loved you ever since I first laid eyes on your stupid football head. And from that moment and every moment since I've lived and breathed for you, dreamed of the moment I could finally tell you my sacred feelings for you, and grab you and kiss you and, oh, come here you big lug!" And at that moment Helga G Pataki grabbed the love of her life. The only man who had ever shown her love or attention of anything of the matter and she roughly kissed him on the lips.

At first Arnold did not know how to react. At first, he just kind of sat there with his lips on hers. But then, he knew exactly what to do. Arnold took his hand and placed on he left shoulder as he deepened the kiss that Helga had initiated. He then started to back her up against the wall of the FTI building they were standing on top of. They kissed for a few more seconds before Arnold broke off the kiss and said." Helga, I know we only have twenty minutes before we have to save the neighborhood, but there's something I need to say.

Helga just dreamingly stared into Arnold's eyes as she let her love speak." Listen Helga, I know your so full of hatred and sometimes I still wonder why you hate everything so much, but if I'm honest I've always had a thing for you because I know deep down you are a nice and caring person who does care about other people's feelings. You just hide it because that's all you've ever known is to hide yourself from people, and I'm here to tell you now Helga that I love-"

RING RING! RING RING!

Arnold fell out of bed at the sound of his new alarm clock. After having the same alarm clock that annoyingly said," hey Arnold! Hey Arnold! for thirteen years of his life his parents had finally bought him a new and improved alarm clock.

As he hit the floor, he grabbed the back of his head in pain. Arnold looked up to see the clear skylight ceiling in his boarding house room. He laughed at himself as he whipped his eyes and picked himself up off the floor.

Arnold looked at his desk beside his bed to turn the alarm clock off that was still blaring that horrid ringing noise. As he pressed the button on top to turn the alarm off Arnold noticed that it was 7:20 and his first day of high school started in 40 minutes and he was not even started getting ready.

Arnold quickly ran down his stairs to hop in his shower and quickly shower and brush his teeth. Arnold then quickly ran back upstairs to his room wearing only a towel. He quickly got dressed into a blue t shirt and a pair of jeans. He put on his brand-new white sneakers his grandpa has given him to start high school.

Arnold got done getting dressed, taking a shower, and brushing his teeth in a record breaking 15 minutes. Arnold sighed as he suddenly noticed something was missing, his blue hat. Arnold silently walked over to his desk in his room. There sat his blue hat on top of his computer that he used to do his school projects on. He grabbed the hat to pick it up and put it on his head, however when Arnold picked the hat up, a picture fell out of the top of his cap.

Arnold picked the picture up off of his floor to see it was a picture of him and Helga. Arnold shook his head in confusion, how did the picture get in his hat he had thrown this picture away months ago. Suddenly bad memories started to flood into Arnold's brain as he continued to look at the picture. He had sworn to forget what happened between him and Helga for good.

Arnold knew he didn't have much time before he had to leave, so he just threw picture on his desk and walked out of his bedroom trying to forget everything he just saw and thought about.

Arnold walked downstairs to see his dad in the kitchen by himself drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. He looked up from his paper to see his son standing there all ready for school." Morning son!" Miles exclaimed in a tired but excited way." You excited for your first day of high school?" Arnold looked up at his dad and smiled." Yeah, I am dad, I feel like it's gone be fun!"

"I bet so son!" Miles said." I made you some breakfast too. Bacon and scrambled eggs! I know they probably won't be as great as your mother makes them, but she had to work early at the hospital this morning." Arnold looked up at his father with a supportive look on his face." Dad, I'm sure your bacon eggs with taste just fine. And it's fine that mom has to work. I'm still happy she finally got the job at the hospital!"

This time Miles laughed as he said." Yeah now it's just my turn to get a job!" Arnold chuckled as he walked over to the kitchen counter a grabbed a piece of bacon. He popped the bacon in his mouth and began to chew the applewood goodness." It tastes great dad!" Arnold said as he walked over and gave his dad a pat on the right shoulder.

Arnold then looked down at his watch to see it read 7:45." Sorry dad I gotta go, school starts in 15 minutes!" Arnold grabbed his backpack that was sitting at the edge of the kitchen. He turned around and gave his dad a quick hug before opening the door to walk out of the boarding house." As Arnold opened the door he heard his dad exclaim." I love you Arnold have a great day!"

Arnold laughed to himself at his father and said." Love you too dad." Then Arnold suddenly closed the door to his boarding house and walked down the steps. When he reached the bottom of the steps, he took a minuet to look back up at the boarding house he had called his home now for fourteen years.

He shook his head with a little sadness in his heart as he though of his grandma who was now in the hospital and his grandpa whose health was starting to worsen. His grandma had been brought to the hospital a few months ago at the end of his eighth-grade year. One day Arnold had gotten home from school and his grandma had forgotten who his grandpa was. She was trying to get away from his grandpa when she fell and broke her hip.

Arnold remembered the day like it was yesterday as it still sent shivers down his spine. Now adays the only people she remembered was Arnold and his mother Stella. Everyone else was oblivious to her.

Arnold sighed as he thought about his poor grandmother in the hospital." You know." Arnold said to no one as he started to walk down the walkway." Today is going to be a good day. I'm not going to let any thoughts in my head. I'm going to have a great first day of high school. I know I will!"
