Hello~
Okay! Let's do this!
This is probably the third time I'm rewriting this!
Third times the charm, right?
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, only my OCs and my ideas. The story will follow the main plot.
~.~
I woke up to rays of sunlight, sneaking through my curtains and into my eyes. I squinted at the light. I stretched and turned to bury my face into my pillows, hiding from the sunlight. I sighed.
'Back to the academy,' I thought, though I wasn't looking forward to it. It's not the academy that's bad, it's the kids who pick on me. It's not as bad as Naruto, but it doesn't mean it's not bad.
'I sit with Sasuke one time and the girls get soo angry,' I groaned, 'The only reason they go to school is because of the Uchiha.'
A "mew" was heard from the foot of my bed, breaking me out of my thoughts. I sat up as my black cat crawled over to me.
"Good morning, Akumu," I said as he rubbed against me. I gave her a good scratch under her chin and scooped her up. I got out of bed with my nightmare neko in my arms.
"My wittle baby," I say as I place a kiss on top of his head.
I put him back on the ground as I got ready for the day.
'As much as I would like to avoid going to the academy, nothing comes from running away from your problems,' I thought as I walked to my closet, 'That, and the fact that skipping would reflect badly on my records,' I pulled out my everyday attire, 'Especially since I'm apparently one of the Top Students.'
I walked into my bathroom and started brushing my teeth.
'Geez...training children to become killing machines, that's basically what's happening,' I thought, 'You can't protect everyone, and you can't always trust someone with your life.'
I finished brushing my teeth and quickly hopped into the shower.
'And if you cant trust anyone with your life, you gotta be strong enough to protect yourself.'
After a quick shower, I dried my hair and threw on my clothes. My outfit consisted of a black, cropped, one sleeve shirt. Underneath was a meshed shirt. And lastly, black shorts.
Simple and easy to move in.
I walked out of my bathroom, pulling my dark blue hair into a ponytail, I found Akumu waiting for me.
"You just want food, don't you?" I questioned. I got a mew for an answer.
"Let's go downstairs," I said, opening the door. The cat made his way out, beeline downstairs towards his food bowl. I let out a slight chuckle, following Akumu. Once I was downstairs, I was greeted by my Guardian, not biological big brother, Hatake Kakashi.
"Morning, Kyoko," Kakashi said, looking up from the orange novel that was always in his hand, "Morning to you too, Akumu," He said to the cat, rubbing against his leg.
'Ugh, Make – Out Paradise, why does he even like that book?' I wondered. There was one time, I was curious and decided to pick up one of the books from the series from the bookshelf in our living room. Kakashi panicked and took the book away. From that day, he kept those books in the shelf in his room, and I'm forbidden to read it until I was 18 or something.
"Morning," I muttered tiredly as I filled Akumu's food bowl.
"Looks like you studied for too long," He told me. My dark circles, resembling a raccoon, showed my late night study session.
Kakashi ruffled my hair, "Don't push yourself too hard."
"Hey!" I shouted, having to fix my hair, "Geez, gotta redo my hair," I whined, this time pulling it into a bun.
"Your hair is getting long, maybe it's due for a haircut?" He suggested, "Maybe something different. What if you change to straight across bangs?" He joked.
"You know the bowl haircut will look disgusting on me," I said, "I like my side swept bangs, thank you very much."
"Hmm...change it to go to the left instead of the right," Kakashi said.
"No," I simply answered, "I just need a trim. Maybe you should get a haircut too, dye it orange to match that nasty book of yours."
"In your dreams," Kakashi chuckled.
"I'm leaving," I said, grabbing an apple and giving Akumu a pet on the head.
"Have a good day," Kakashi said before the door closed.
Kakashi had been looking after me for about 6 years. I'm 11 now, almost 12. The only time I would see Kakashi is in the morning, sometimes during the day, occasionally at night if I decide to stick around the kitchen cooking, or the living room watching TV with him. I don't spend a lot of time with him. We didn't interact much when I was younger. He had a number of missions, since he was part of ANBU at the time. He had then quit ANBU to have more time to take care of me. I assumed that was why, he never told me otherwise. It took a while for me to warm up to him. I would usually be in my room, and he would try to bribe me out of my room. It wasn't until I saw him train in the backyard. That's when I took more interest in him. Soon after that, he started training me and I had opened up to him. He also tried to get me to be friends with other kids my age, but I was silent around anyone who wasn't Kakashi. How did I end up with him? Long story short, I was an orphan. I lived in an orphanage that was brutally abusive. The orphanage was ways away from civilization, but the Leaf Village was the closest. I assumed I had ran away and ended up here. I couldn't remember too much. I just remembered that everyone in the orphanage were terrible towards me. The villagers found me, Hokage came to talk to me, and Kakashi is my legal Guardian. But after that day, I hardly trusted anyone. Kakashi had shown me enough kindness that proves to me that he won't attempt to kill me in my sleep.
~.~
I got to the academy about 10 minutes before class. I would usually get to class earlier so I could get to my seat before everyone else, but I guess I walked a little slow today. I usually walk slower on nicer days, I like to take in stuff nature has given us. Sunny days, morning dew on the grass, flowers that had just bloomed, birds singing, I appreciate the peaceful things in this world. I walked into the classroom full of students. They were goofing off, hanging with their friends. There were a group of girls huddled around a certain Uchiha, Uchiha Sasuke to be exact. The girls were fangirling and flirting.
"Sasuke – kun~ Can I sit next to you today?"
"In your dreams! I'm sitting next to Sasuke – kun!"
"Oh, as if he would want to sit next to you, Forehead!"
"Get away from him, Ino – Pig! Sasuke – kun is mine!"
''...they must be aware that Sasuke knows what they're saying and that they sound completely mental and obsessed...right?' I wondered.
I looked away from the scene and went across the classroom. I could feel stares from other classmates on me. The fangirls pierced me with their stares. I kept my eyes at my seat to avoid catching someone's stare by accident. I beeline to my seat and simply sat down. I could see whispers shared among the girls who were bickering just moments ago.
"Staple mouth is here."
"What's with her clothes? You can almost see her bra."
"Ugh, must be showing off her jugs."
"She's trying to look proper with that bun, but her clothes are telling a different story."
"Think she'll say anything today?"
"Ha! Yeah, right! The day she speaks is the day Uzumaki Naruto becomes Hokage!"
"I saw her look at Sasuke-kun the other day, does she really think she has a chance with him?"
'I do talk, just not often,' I shrugged.
I looked out the window, feeling the glances, stares, and glares.
'...pretty chatty today...wow, I didn't know that people knew more about me than I knew about myself,' I thought in exaggeration, 'And really? My breasts are only at B cup. Chill, boobs aren't everything. I rather have 'em small, it's much easier to run and fight when they're small.'
I never fought back, I tried my best to not let it get to me. I admit, I act very differently towards everyone here. The only time I let myself act more freely is at home. At first, everyone thought I was just overly shy. But it got to the point where you would call this social anxiety. But instead of respecting my space and privacy, people like to poke their nose into places they shouldn't. I guess I was too different and it got everyone to be wary of me. People don't like different things, and instead of possibly learning and figuring out certain explanations for it, they attack the unknown.
'I'm just not comfortable communicating with people,' I thought.
At least they don't bully me as bad as Uzumaki Naruto, they actually act as if he's some sort of monster. They tease and leave him out. He gets attention, but not the good kind. He became an outcast. The village looks down on him as if he's a disgrace to the village. I've heard from the Hokage that he's the Host for the Nine-Tailed Fox, all the adults knows this, but I don't think any of the other students in the academy knows, let alone Naruto himself. People think he's a monster for containing the Nine – Tails inside him, but it's not like he had a choice. If anything, he's a hero for being a host. I've never spoken to him. Except for one time when we were younger.
Memory
Kakashi had brought me to the park when I was about 8 years old, to try and get me to interact with kids my age. I noticed Naruto being picked on, and he got pushed to the ground. Kids laughed at him and one other kid started kicking dirt into his face. That's when I decided to do something. I walked over and pushed through. I helped Naruto up, ignoring the kids.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Uh..y-yeah," Naruto said nervously.
"What are you doing?"
"Yeah, don't you know who he is?"
The other kids shouted at me as I lead Naruto out of the group.
"He's a monster!"
"Don't help him!"
"You guys are the monsters," I said, "You know nothing about him and think he's a monster?"
"My mom told me he's a monster."
"Well, that's what your mom thinks. Make your own opinion," I told him before walking off with Naruto. I lead him to a bench and I made him sit down. I had noticed a cut on his knee and pulled out a band-aid. I placed it on his cut.
"What's your name ?" I asked, even though I knew who he was.
"Me?" he asked, pointing to himself, "I'm Uzumaki Naruto. Uh, what's your name?"
"Hatake Kyoko," I answered.
"Why did you help me?" He asked.
"Cause I wanted to," I told him, "I don't see how you could be a monster. You look like all the other kids around here."
"...thank you," Naruto smiled.
"No problem," I said, "It's getting late, you should head home."
"But you just got here, don't you wanna play?" Naruto asked.
I shook my head, "My big brother doesn't know the concept of time, he brought me here before the sun started setting," I sighed, "I'll see ya around."
I said bye and went to Kakashi to make him take me home.
And that was the only time I communicated with Naruto.
"Hey! Staple mouth!"
I sighed and turned to the voice. The voice belonged to Yamanaka Ino. I glanced at her from my seat. She walked up to me and...stared at me. I was faced to face with her.
'Being annoying won't get you anywhere,' I thought, I felt eyes on me and Ino.
The class was watching. I just turned my head back to the window. An angry grunt was heard from the blonde's mouth.
"Can't you just say something?!" She exclaimed angrily, "Anything?! Just one thing?!"
I sighed and turned my head to face her. She gave me a hopeful but determined look. Who am I to deny her wishes?
"...fuck off," I told her.
Sakura gasped and held in a laugh.
"Excuse me?" Ino growled.
"You're excused," I said, causing the class to laugh.
"You-"
"Yamanaka, you asked me to say one thing, I said much more, don't complain," I told her, "Leave me alone. Or face the consequences."
"Are you threatening me?!" Ino asked, almost challenging me.
'What a pain in the ass,' I sighed.
"You think I'm scared of you? What are you gonna do? You hardly talk in class, and the moment you do, you think you're tough shit?" Ino questioned.
I stared at her with a bored expression.
"You often skip out on spars, yet you're top of the class?! How could that be fair?!" she asked, "You sit there, staring into your books or into space. How are you suppose to be a Kunoichi if you can't defend yourself in a fight?" She questioned.
'This ridiculous "fight" is very one sided,' I thought.
"Tch, that cold emotionless look isn't gonna protect you from anything. You act tough, but you're really just a -" I didn't let her finish. Done with her bullshit, in a blink of an eye, I was behind Ino, holding a kunai against the blonde's neck. Everyone was frozen in shock.
'W-what? She didn't even move! D-did she?' Ino wondered.
"You know, actions speak more than words," I said in a dark, hushed tone, "Is your ass jealous of all the shit that comes out of your mouth?" I pressed the kunai against her neck. No blood, just scaring her.
"How are you suppose to be a Kunoichi if you can't defend yourself in a fight?" I used her words against her, "You never know when an enemy will attack. So, since you know so much, tell me. What are you gonna do in this situation?"
I could feel Ino shake in fear.
"Good Morning everyo-WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?"
'Shit, Iruka-sensei,' I thought as he walked in.
Iruka looked at me and Ino.
"Iruka Sensei! Kyoko is gonna hurt Ino!" Sakura piped up.
Iruka Sensei's eyes grew huge, 'Kyoko, you better not have done anything.'
I rolled my eyes. I let Ino go and twirled my kunai before putting it back.
"I was only playing~" I said, sitting back down.
"Kyoko, Ino, you two are staying after class today."
"WHAT?!" Ino shouted, "WHY ME?!"
'Kakashi's gonna be disappointed in me,' I sighed.
"AND WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE WITH HER?!" Ino asked, pointing at me.
"Ino, go sit," Iruka Sensei told her.
I looked back down at my notebook. It was total silence in the class, I loved it. It usually got this quiet after Naruto would do something. Speaking of Naruto, the Uzumaki walked in.
"Sorry I'm late Iruka Sensei...did...did I miss something?"

I'm gonna make these chapters a little shorter than before.
I'm not setting this to be a weekly thing. But I will update whenever I have free time.
