AN: Yo! Welcome back to another chapter of Pokemon: Dreams Or Knightmares, A lot of battling happened last chapter, so for this one, it'll take a tone down. Just a warning here, it's gonna be a bit bloody, nothing too horrific but just in case anyone dislikes borderline gore, this is your warning.
- Nimbasa Square -
"So what's the deal with fighting the champion?" Elesa looked at Gedeon who blinked, as if he couldn't comprehend a joke.
"How do you know about it?"
"You know you were on the News right?" Gedeon soon looked pale as he heard that. "You seriously didn't know?"
"I don't watch much TV or whatever…." Gedeon said with a shrug.
"Laaaame~" Elesa dragged with her eyes expressing boredom.
"Hmph, that's unfortunate, i only agreed to help, mainly because i also want to deal with Team Plasma, the faster we get it done, the faster i can battle you and carry on my journey." Gedeon grew a tick mark as Elesa seemed to be ahead of him.
"What was that you were saying? I couldn't hear you from up here." Elesa replied innocently.
"How annoying."
- Moments Later -
"Hm, if they weren't in the square…" Elesa hummed questionably, not knowing where else to look, getting Gedeon to scoff lightly.
"Alleyways."
"Eh?"
"Alleyways, don't you watch Psycho Pass? Criminals always hide in alleyways." Gedeon elaborated. He looked from side to side with a strong gaze. Nimbasa City had quite a few dark paths.
"What even is Psycho Pass…."
"Don't think too hard about it, anyway. I'll go check out the left alley, you check the right." Gedeon practically ordered, holding off any sort of refute that Elesa was gonna bring up.
- Left Alley -
"This stench…" Gedeon didn't know what to think of this stench, he would've walked a bit more but with a sudden bing sound, his Krokorok, who he named, Sobek, appeared in a flash, snarling.
"What is it? You never…" Gedeon's voice hit a sudden silence as he looked at the walls.
"ROK!" Gedeon was pushed back thanks to Krokorok's tail. Gedeon looked at the barbed wiring on the floor ahead of him, how could he miss that?
"This alleyway looks like a torture room, blood painted on the walls and possibly more if i investigate further." Gedeon was now curious about the situation that now presented itself. He didn't see any bodies, just blood.
It was strange.
With Krokorok in tow, both of them walked further, avoiding the deadly spiked wires that would do some serious damage to him and his pokemon. Gedeon was in a completely different area, it looked like a weird place. It was just plain white. The young teen looked to his right and realized that Krokorok wasn't there, which seemed to make his nerves flare into action.
"Sobek! Where are you?" Gedeon called, he looked at his waist and saw that his pokeballs were gone too, which caused him to turn his body frantically.
"Where the FUCK am I!" Gedeon expressed high amounts of anger and confusion.
Where were his pokemon? Where was he? He didn't know, but he looked like he was in some mental landscape.
WAIT!
"Am I actually in my landscape? If so…..get me outta here!" Gedeon called out to no one.
"You're quite the vulgar one, ha! I like it." Gedeon looked around a bit, before his eyes laid themselves a giant figure that loomed over him, making him feel inferior.
"Who the fuck are you?" Gedeon said in a face faulting manner, getting the figure to fall over comically.
"You FOOL I am the mighty-"
"Just get on with it."
"Hmph! The name is Susanoo, ya know, the one who learnt from Lugia." Gedeon blinked rapidly before falling onto his back. "And there he goes."
-Hour Later-
"Ugh, that wasn't pleasant at all, my head hurts like…." Gedeon stopped to look at his surroundings.
A bed, bed sheets, with a glance to the left and water.
"NOW WHERE AM I?" Gedeon bellowed in a frustrated tone, before clutching his ribs. The boy looked down and noticed he was patched up. "What happened to me?" Gedeon forced his legs to move, ready to investigate his predicament.
"Slow down there kiddo, you just went through a wormhole." Gedeon recognized the voice to be Susanoo, the legendary sword wielding trainer, said to have been trained by Lugia, however that works.
"Repeat that….you said….wormhole, like i traveled to another dimension or completely new universe?" Gedeon asked, and not in an amusing tone, but one filled with worry.
"Give or take….yeah, however it seems we were pulled here against our will, not by accident." Susanoo explained in a more somber tone, getting Gedeon to calm down a bit.
"My Pokemon…."
"They're safe." Gedeon jumped up like a cat being caught off guard. Gedeon looked at the new person entering the room with interest. He was in a new world, he didn't know what could happen, best be secure than unfortunate later on.
"Who're you?" Gedeon quickly asked, not wanting to waste time on idle chit chat.
"The name is Lear, it's best if you show some respect, after all, I did save you from life threatening injuries." The one named Lear proclaimed quite pompously, getting Gedeon to snicker.
"Ok, that doesn't explain why you summoned me." Lear had purplish lavender colored hair that was weirdly spiked, deep blue eyes and a scornful look on his face, almost as he isolated himself, something Gedeon instantly noticed. Lear wore a white shirt with white pants and white shoes.
"I asked for Hoopa to find me a suitable test subject, after i'm done, i'll send you on your way." Lear explained vaguely.
'This boy is royalty...ha! Probably one of those sappy Princes needs to be strong to be seen as the rightful heir, how annoying, eh?'
'Yeah, but this is fine, I get to fight someone in a completely new world, I wonder what he's gonna test?'
-Outside-
"This looks like some kingdom…" Gedeon looked amazed from the cliff's viewpoint. The Kingdom looked fairly large, was this a country? If so, Lear has a lot in store for him in the future.
"Hmph, It's no matter, I will rule this place one day, by myself." Lear made a gesture with his hands and snapped them.
"Interesting." Gedeon grabbed his pokeball and threw it, revealing Krokorok, who was eager to fight. "Let's do this shall we?"
Lear gave a scoff and sent forth his own people, that being Hoopa itself, who looked overly enthusiastic about battling. Hoopa looked like a Djinn, which would explain how Gedeon was able to come to this new world.
"Hoopa, a legendary pokemon to some, a mythical to others." Lear seemed to give a fancy way of complimenting the pokemon.
"It doesn't matter, it's not Darkrai." Gedeon dismissed, feeling annoyance built up again.
"We shall strike first, Hoopa, use Ice Punch!"
"Duck to the left and use Crunch!"
Krokorok and Hoopa met at the center, with Krokorok successfully evading the frosty jabs sent towards it, it gave a quick spun and used its tail to slap the legendary in the face, then chomping down with purple cloaked fangs on the downed legendary, only to bite air.
Krokorok looked to the right, only to get punched, sending it rolling back to Gedeon's side.
"You should've paid a bit more attention, you see, here, Pokemon adapt several abilities, Hoopa has one where it gets a free decoy, or substitute in simpler terms for you." Lear explained like a strict coach weeks before game night.
"Seriously? In my world, such a mechanic doesn't exist." Gedeon held an impassive look but was extremely curious about how he could develop such a thing in his world.
"I see, many different worlds have many different traits, yours and ours are just on the spectrum of being unique in their own way."
"Very interesting, but let us finish this, shall we?"
"We shall!"
-Later-
"Ugh we've been battling for hours." Surprisingly, this came from Lear, who looked completely fatigued, with Gedeon and Krokorok looking completely fine.
"I'll take a gander and say you haven't really battled much, eh?" Gedeon said, which got Lear to choke a bit.
"N-No! That is not the case…."
"Totally lying kid…."
"W-Who said that!" Lear asked while looking around.
"Don't mind the voice, think of him as my….partner."
"Partner eh? I like it!" Susanoo spoke more boisterously this time, getting Gedeon to smirk a bit.
"So, Lear, anything else we should do before you send me back home?" Lear nodded and looked at the night sky.
"Yeah, you see, my father doesn't see me as the rightful heir, so I'm being sent off to a prestigious school to better myself. However, I feel like I'm going to fail in the end." Lear sounded downright sad and depressed, which got Gedeon to frown.
Gedeon wasn't used to this sort of thing, only ever expressing his true feelings to his grandfather and to someone else, who he hadn't seen in a long time. Gedeon could slightly connect to Lear, Gedeon back in the Village Of Dragons, Gedeon tried his hardest to succeed and to receive some praise from one of the teachers, but in the end, he failed and moved on.
"You'll only fail if you say you'll fail, never betray yourself, never stray from yourself, and most importantly, believe in yourself and your Pokemon, trust me, you'll be a lot stronger if you view your pokemon as friends, as opposed to tools and other stuff like it." Lear looked at Gedeon for a moment, a brief sparkle of admiration apparent in his blue eyes, before smiling.
"I'm glad Hoopa pulled you instead, Gedeon Alexander. Even in another world, you're a hero in your own way."
"Eh? You mean there's another me in this world?" Gedeon asked befuddled at the thought of having a parallel version of himself.
"Yeah, you became the trainer to have stopped the Pokemon League from corruption, your story is world wide. A lot of people look up to you, my world Gedeon is about 35 years old.." Lear elaborated.
"That's fascinating, I'm a hero here huh? Hard to believe it, but you shouldn't just pull people out of their universe for stuff like this, ya know? Pretty sure that's breaking a law."
"Ha! I don't care, I'd challenge Arceus and not give a damn!"
"Pfft, i think you're pretty cool, you got yourself a legendary pokemon as a partner, i'll have one soon myself." Gedeon smirked challengingly, seeing Hoopa chuckle like a kid floating around.
"And who might that be?'
"Darkrai, who else will fit me?" Gedeon said before looking at the moon with Lear, finally meeting someone who's tolerable, a friend.
-Original Timeline-
"What?" Gedeon awoke in another strange place, well, back in a forest. He definitely knew he was home in Unova, but he didn't know where exactly.
"Why does this always happen to me?" Gedeon sulked. Gedeon looked around the forest, not knowing where to begin. "I should head back to Nimbasa City."
"That's the wise choice of action to take, kid. Scope your surroundings, that is the first key to survival." Susanoo sounded more serious, unlike the last few times where he had a more childlike demeanor.
"That's the most useful advice you gave me." Gedeon heard a scoff then silence shortly after, signaling that the legendary swordsman had gone mute. Gedeon didn't know why the famous entity was in his mind or mental space, could it be by chance? Some twist of fate? Or is it because both he and the legend shared so many similarities? This only garnered more questions than answers, but he won't delve into that, he needed to get out the forest.
"Hm, at least I got my pokemon." Gedeon looked down toward his right waist and saw the pokeballs strapped safely.
-Elsewhere-
"It's time!" A voice boomed, shortly after a crack sound could be heard, similar to ice breaking apart under the pressure of something heavy.
"Where is Almina?"
The same voice from before called out in a more saturated tone, still holding authority and vigor.
"She's currently in Nimbasa City, taking care of the one that's been intercepting our squads." A female voice answered quickly, with a chilling tone to boot.
"Oh? She does live up to her title of being the Ice Cold Commander. Rightfully so, she feels compelled to meet this anomaly and erase it."
"Yes sir! She told me she'll send a message to this person and hope in the future, they'll never intervene again."
"Very well. I look forward to her results, this pleases me greatly. She's far better equipped than N to do this." The male voice was slightly old but still held an aura that demanded absolute respect and loyalty.
"What should you have me do?"
"Go to Driftveil City, protect the incoming shipments of supplies and deliver them here." The man covered by a shadow ordered, getting the hidden female to bow in respect and billow out of existence.
"Ha! The utopia I strive for will come to fruition, even if I gotta kill my own children!" The voice laughed maniacally, showing no qualms of who heard it.
- Nimbasa City -
"I'm finally back, it's already night time."
"YOU'RE ALIVE!" The loud voice or voices in this case caused Gedeon to flinch and turn around, only to get hit by two girls in the face with fist full of rage.
"I think he's dead now…."
"You've been missing for a week, ya know." Gedeon quickly shook his head, ignoring the red marks on his forehead, to look at Skyla, Elesa and surprisingly Alder and a new girl who was present.
"I got sent through a wormhole, quantum physics stuff." Gedeon explained as if it was a normal thing to say.
"Did you just say you traveled to another world?" Alder asked quite amused at this.
"Yeah i did, i was just with Elesa yesterday looking for Team Plasma, however getting sent into a wormhole and coming back, must've taken a week here for you and only a few hours for me, i can't explain it." Gedeon scratched his head in annoyance.
He decided to keep Susanoo a secret, he didn't feel the need to bring up the swordsmen nor felt he was obligated too. He wasn't particularly friends with anyone here, minus Alder. However the creamed colored blonde girl looked bored out of her mind, almost reminded him of a Slaking.
"Needless to say, I'm glad you're fine and dandy. I myself was worried, but it seems I can rest now." Alder smiled, which caused Gedeon to scratch his nose, not knowing how to respond to that.
"Hm, you don't have to worry, I can't die now until I meet Darkrai." Gedeon shrugged.
"Fair enough."
-Next Day-
"Jump up and use Stone Edge!" Gedeon's voice sounded calm, but quite hoarse as well. The boy was training his pokemon, having been gone for a week in his world, he needed to get back that week's worth of training.
Krokorok could be seen in the air with the strong rock type attack circling him, Archen was running around, dodging the sharpened stones that could pierce steel itself with swiftness. Archen jumped up to the point where Krokorok was currently at, It was then that Archen also managed to pull off a Stone Edge. Both rock type attacks clashed with each other, picking up dust as the both bombed each other in close proximity.
"Krokorok, use Crunch!"
"Archen, use Quick Attack!" Gedeon ordered. Both pokemon did as they were told, however Archen flew out of the dust cloud first, due to using a priority move, Krokorok swiped its tail, getting the cloud to move. Krokorok landed back onto the grassy plain, with its teeth glowing purple. Archen also landed, using its wings to slow down.
"Now, Archen, Stone Edge! Try to keep a safe distance from Krokorok!" Zangoose and Eeletrik both watched their companions train with eager eyes, they were improving at a fast pace, it would be no time before they evolved.
"We're gonna get stronger, so let's keep moving forward, I know Lear would be disappointed if I didn't." The young trainer had a blaze in his eyes, showing how much inspiration he took in from the chance meeting with Lear. Now Gedeon knew the world was vast, and not as small as it seemed.
He had a counterpart that was a successful hero!
However, that also meant he should be his own person, not his counterpart. Gedeon wasn't a hero, nor did he want to be one, however if he could make the world safer, if only by a percent, then that percent can be done. He'll leave the rest to the generation after him. Gedeon knew that not everyone can be saved, that was inevitable, especially the people in the alleyway, could he have been there sooner, maybe he could've prevented their deaths? Or would he have ended up dying as well? There were just too many possibilities that one wasn't right.
"Doesn't mean I have to like that." His voice brought him stares from his Pokemon, in which he just chuckled at. "Just having some thoughts. Say, how about we take a break?"
This got his pokemon to cheer, getting him to crack a smile.
Pokemon weren't tools, they were incredible, living creatures that lived alongside him, humans and had been roaming the world longer than humans, that was a fact from the existence of fossil Pokemon. Gedeon learned from Lear that Pokemon were used in many wars and disputes. Gedeon wanted to research these events now, his interest in the past has certainly been piqued thanks to his talk with Lear.
Speaking of, if there were more than one Gedeon, then there is more than one Lear…..meaning he'll most definitely save Lear's mother from dying. This wouldn't affect the world, however it'll help Lear grow up as a cheerful kid, as opposed to a secluded and cold individual.
That'll be his job, his life goal.
-END-
This chapter took longer than I expected, mainly because I've been reading some manga and that would cut in with my writing time. Sorry if this chapter seemed rushed, I wanted to get a few things out of the way of this chapter.
First some character development for Gedeon, the inclusion of the multiverse, introduction of Lear, and lastly, Gedeon's new goal, which is to save Lear's mother. I'll tell you now, I just wrote that Quantum stuff as an easter egg to Marvel etc. I'm actually gonna take some time to do some studying on that subject.
With this all said, Next chapter will be a well deserved time skip, the first 4 chapters were a prologue, next is where the fun part begins. You'll notice a similarity between Gedeon and a character named Kiritsugu Emiya from the Fate series.
Anyway, be sure to stay safe and healthy, I'll see you all next chapter!
