AN: Yo! Back with chapter 9 and as i said last chapter, i will focus solely on one thing this chapter and towards the end drift until the next sequence. Without further delay, let's begin!
-Start-
"A battle tournament?"
"Yeah, it'll be held near Hearthome City. I figured you'd want to join that." Looker mentioned, which Gedeon nodded too.
"It sounds interesting. I think it will help me bond with Gyarados and Garchomp more."
Gedeon wanted to help the two overcome whatever experiments that happened to them while in the clutches of The Saigai. They were a very mysterious organization and nothing much about if not anything was known about them at all. They were clouded in a veil that protects them from being seen.
And apparently even more of them spread worldwide. That just gave the young man more motivation to get stronger, should he run into them. He knew Battle-Bond was strong but he can't solely rely on that. He needs to create something strong enough.
'What would Lear do….'
'Lear? The royal brat. Seems you forgot something…'
'Lear said something about how in his universe Sync Moves or whatever were something extraordinary. His Hoopa did something anything from this world would be envious of, what if i create something like that and utilize that?'
Susanoo appeared next to the boy and gave a strong gaze towards the sun, his eyes blinking, as if remembering something from long ago.
'Heh, finally using that brain, let's discuss more of this along the way, yeah?'
Gedeon cracked a smile and nodded.
…
On his way towards Hearthome, Gedeon took time to get used to the Sinnoh region. Sure he came here two years ago on a mission, but he never took time to explore the region for what it is. He had some time to do so before everyone else was ready to discuss more plans towards the Hydreast threat.
Gedeon wasn't far from Hearthome city itself. He could've been there in a matter of minutes but he wanted to enjoy the fun that came with traveling. So he did just that, his Krookodile would occasionally try to start brawls with the resident wild pokemon that were near.
Speaking of….
"What now Sobek?" Gedeon and his partner both looked down a few feet from them to see a Pokemon standing in the middle of the path. As if halting their progress.
"A Magmar would help the team with our weakness to Ice Types." Susanoo was correct, Gedeon's team wasn't the most balanced or optimal to handle ice types, some diversity would help him here.
"Sobek, I'm gonna use Garchomp." Krookodile gave a defeated look, getting the young adult to chuckle nervously.
Immediately after, Gedeon called for Garchomp, who was prepared for the fight. The Magmar shot off a little bit of fire from it's duck-like mouth.
Magmar is a bipedal Pokemon that has a red body with yellow flame designs along the bottom half. It has a puckered, yellow beak, small eyes, and two lumps on its forehead with a yellow flame on top of each one. Rigid, red scales cover its arms and it has five, clawed fingers on each hand. Magmar's shoulders and thighs are yellow, and its red feet have two, clawed toes each. It has black, metal shackles around its neck and ankles. Down its back is a row of red spikes, and there is a flame at the tip of its tapering, yellow tail.
Garchomp snarled a bit as it showed off it's beastly looking fangs.
"Alright Ryouga, let's strike! Go for Iron Head first!" Garchomp, nicknamed Ryouga, lunged forth with a burst of speed. It's head is shining a metallic sheen as it practically flies at the Magmar.
Magmar also went for a strike, cloaking it's fist in a rage of intense flames, it sent it forth, clashing against the head of Garchomp, before a small explosion occurred which pushed both Pokemon back. Garchomp skidded ,breaking the ground as it did. The Magmar seemed to have a lot of experience and pride, it was so far holding off against Garchomp.
"Let's go for Dragon Rush!" Garchomp grinned as it jumped into the air, a draconic aura of a greenish blue tint formed.
Magmar had shown to be rather cautious, taking a leap back to successfully dodge the strong dragon type attack, quickly after, Magmar cocked it's right hand back and a burst of flames erupted. The fire type went for another jab at the Garchomp, this time, aiming for it's chin. However it wouldn't connect as Garchomp flipped backwards. The Magmar puckered it's lips before blowing, a large gust of intense heat and humidity roamed towards Garchomp.
"Heat Wave! That's unexpected. Garchomp Dig!" Garchomp roared at the command before plowing into the ground, the action caused the ground to split causing rocks to spike up. The Heat Wave washed over and in an instant Garchomp appeared behind Magmar and crashed it's body full force into the fire type. This caused it to let loose a large pain filled scream as it crashed into the rocks, taking extra damage from them.
"Interesting, I didn't expect Garchomp to become more powerful while fighting. It seems that the passive abilities of being a Calamity-eyed is still lingering." Gedeon noted with a straight face, feeling a bit more knowledgeable about the powers that were being shown to him, a smile formed a bit as Magmar spun up and back into action, bruises were seen on it's abdomen and shoulders.
Garchomp watched closely at every detail about the Magmar, it could be trying to pull a fast one on it and attack when it would least expect. Magmar glared coldly before running in fast.
"This thing really fights as if it's a fighting type." Gedeon couldn't wrap his head around the Pokemon's way of fighting, it was straightforward and linear and easily predictable.
"Use Dragon Rush!" Garchomp gave a nod before taking off, in a short burst of speed, it closed the distance with Magmar, who had its arms crossed in an 'x' style. It was a move called Cross Chop, usually critical hits land more often with the attack, but the chances of hitting such an attack was limited.
As both pokemon clashed with each other, they both winced, not giving an inch to let the other prevail, however the Magmar wasn't strong enough for Garchomp and was completely struck with the full impact of Dragon Rush. Dust formed as the impact ended, Gedeon tilted his head as he saw Garchomp standing over the Magmar victoriously. He was happy for the dragon type since this was probably one of it's first battles without being mind controlled by someone else and was just happy experiencing a fight normal for once.
Gedeon did what any other trainer did and caught the Magmar in a pokemon, to make sure it was safe from anything else stalking about. Gedeon walked up to Garchomp and rubbed it's snout, getting a satisfied growl of approval.
…
Gedeon reached a small town that was just across from Hearthome City, thankfully someone nursed his Magmar back to full strength. The Magmar seemed to actually be quite notorious as everyone also had troubles getting it to move on. Supposedly it had lost against a Magmortar from a rather strong trainer a while ago and never left the spot it was at until it proved itself worthy.
The story was quite amazing. Losing to someone could be a great force to become stronger and nothing hurts more than getting looked down upon by your evolution, the flames of defeat will linger until you defeat that individual again.
Gedeon had about another few hours before he could reach Hearthome City so he sat down and decided to rest at the small town. It wasn't anything extravagant, it was a rather simple town with its fair share of residents and pokemon alike. The unity between the two was apparent here as Gedeon watched Machops and Workers lugging logs from one spot to another, and Buizels spraying them with water to keep them cool.
"By any chance, will you be attending the Battle Tournament in Hearthome City?" The young adult snapped out whatever musing he was in and looked behind him, turning his attention to the elderly lady.
"Yes, I just wish to get stronger."
"Hm, I understand. You do have a very prismatic aura."
"Prismatic? A bit of an odd choice of wording." The elderly lady chuckled lightly at the slight joke.
"Oh! My name is Gardna, pleased to meet you." Gedeon loosened up a bit, cracking his shoulders. He was surprised as the elderly lady gave her name to him.
"My name is Gedeon, nice to meet you as well." Gedeon bowed respectfully. The young man wasn't one for hand shakes, he felt bowing was a proper way of respect to another person.
"If you're attending, if you happen to see Gardenia, do tell her to be careful, recently Pokemon have been acting more callous behavior."
"Gardenia is your Granddaughter i would assume, yes?"
"Correct, she's a rather funny one, very scared of ghost types however."
"Heh, I see. You have my word, I'll relay the message to her. I didn't think Gym Leaders would be able to attend the Tournament…."
"I was surprised, it seems this will be some kick starter for a much larger project." Gardna informed. Which Gedeon nodded to before expressing a stoic look as he remembered the part where Pokemon were acting abnormally.
"These pokemon, have they shown signs of having dark, poison looking purple eyes?"
"Now that you mention it….yes, i saw an Absol just over the hill to the east with such features…..is there something wrong?" Gedeon's lips frowned immediately. It seems wild pokemon are becoming infected and not ones from just Trainers.
"Yes, I'd like you all to stay in sight. This Absol will not hesitate to kill you, I'll handle this myself." Gedeon spoke bluntly as he turned around with a pep to his step and ran towards the hill. The elderly lady got straight to work and did as he told her.
…
It was still the middle of the day, so the sun was still bright, illuminating everything in sight. Gedeon had to be extremely cautious. If it's one thing he learned from being with Krookodile was that Dark Types were very sly and tactical and could pounce you at any moment. He studied a lot about Dark Types, and Absol was no pushover. It was also another Darkrai case with it being distant since every time it appears, something adverse occurs.
It was perfect for his team.
Gedeon was allowed to carry more than 6 pokemon due to being a huge help at the PL meeting. Something he was quite thankful for, he didn't want to depart with any of his pokemon. A look of remembrance appeared on his face as he was reminded that he has pokemon back in Unova. He'l pick them up once he gets to the next transfer machine.
Crunch!
Gedeon stopped moving and tilted his head a bit, as if he was trying to look behind him in a slow manner. The next choice of action was a mighty leap up, Gedeon curled himself before latching himself onto a tree branch. The young adult motioned his head down to stare upon a white furred creature.
Absol.
It was a dark blue colored quadrupled creature, with white snow bunny like fur covering its body. It has a ruff around its neck and chest and a single dark blue oval on its forehead. It's distinct feature was its curved horns that it used to possibly inflict deadly injuries on it's foes.
Gedeon was glad to have avoided such a thing, barely. He hasn't really gone head to head with pokemon besides his own, but this was something different entirely with the stakes being high. The townspeople were in danger of this Absol, who usually did nothing but try to warn humans of impending destruction from a multitude of sources, being natural disasters or just something else.
The Absol's horns began to glow a dashing white before it whipped it's head with such vigor that it would make any beauty marketing lady jealous. Gedeon jumped off the branch to avoid the nasty attack. Gedeon knew it was a devastating attack called Psycho Cut. It fits Absol's abilities which would be Super-Luck, which increases the chances of critical hits.
"If I weigh my options here, I think I should've taken that Tepig when I started my journey." Gedeon said with the utmost regret etched his tone, although who could blame him? He was just starting off back then and looking back now, he should've taken all three starters.
"We should use something equally nimble or something to disrupt its movement. Absol's are a Dark Type that utilizes speed and swift damage." Susanoo informed Gedeon with a stern tone. Gedeon gotthe message and knew Susanoo wanted him to use Floatzel.
"Noelle!" Gedeon threw the Pokeball containing his Floatzel and in a flash the Water Type shot forth at Absol. "Use Ice Punch!"
Absol's horn grew larger this time as it sprinted at Floatzel who had their hands in a frosty mist. Floatzel gave a spin before launching its fist, The Absol curved it's head to the side, positioning it's horn to intercept the fist. Floatzel grunted and slapped its tail on the ground to propel itself upwards.
"This Absol is quite something."
"It doesn't help that it seems to be much larger than the average Absol. We'll need to knock this out in one hit." Gedeon gave a low hiss, his lips curling into a frown. Floatzel was good for swift combat, however this Absol was not only swift, but sturdy as well.
"Noelle, return." Floatzel gave a disappointed click of the teeth sound as it returned back into its pokeball. "Drifta!" Gedeon sent forth his Drifloon in a quick fashion. The Drifloon itself looked at the Absol who was glaring knives into it. Like a hungry beast to its prey.
"You're mad! Why the Drifloon?"
"Heh, watch old man."
"O-old man...tch, no manners, whatever. Get it done." Susanoo waved his arms dismissively before disappearing.
Absol waited for its foe to strike, however Gedeon didn't order any such attack upon it, the Absol grew irritated and its patience snapped. It went in for a strike, it's claws on its front legs came to life with a dark purple mist color.
"Now use Destiny Bond!" A gloomy aura appeared over Drifloon, signalling the attack. Absol lunged forth, it's right claw came down like a meteor. The attack did critical damage as Driftloon was sent flying back before tumbling on the grassy plains.
The Absol looked at the Drifloon preparing to strike again, but in that moment it's eyes widened and an intense shock of pain coursed over its white fur body. It's eyes fluttered, its attention locked onto Gedeon who stared back at it, it didn't want to fall over right now. It wanted to continue the fight. But the effects of Destiny Bond came into play and caused it to lose consciousness.
"Heh, sorry about that friend." Gedeon moved his hand down to the fallen Ghost Type and picked it up. "Eat this, I'm sure a Kasib Berry will be quite tasty when we return." Gedeon withdrew Drifloon and looked at the fallen Absol, examining it closely.
"Sorry I had to do that." Gedeon knelt down and rubbed its body softly. "This is actually my first time feeling the fur of an Absol, it's actually quite soft and silky."
"Well then, it seems that did work. Although it was reckless…."
"Drifloon doesn't have much durability, I suspected that Absol was gonna land a heavy blow and made the decision right there." Gedeon rubbed his head as he explained his strategy or lack thereof to the spirit.
"I see...anyway, let's report back. I'm already itching to see another battle."
"Guess we do share something in common, old man."
"OI!"
…
"I appreciate the hospitality."
"Think nothing of it, you were kind enough to help us with the issues around the town when you didn't have to. It's only correct that I give my thanks."
Gedeon bowed, as he straightened up he began to smile, although a very small one, it was still genuine.
"I'll be heading off, I will remember to give Gardenia your message."
Gedeon hoisted a small duffle bag around his shoulders and began his journey to Hearthome. He'll definitely make it around nightfall. And from there he'll do some investigating.
….
"DAMN IT THAT IDIOT RAN HIS FUCKING MOUTH AGAIN!"
A loud and furious voice erupted, it was angry enough that you'd think a volcano was erupting in a rage.
"Loka was merely a scapegoat, he served his niche well. No need to get worked up, Verde." A more calming tone spoke out, it was almost soothing.
"If you say so, Lady Orochi. Although, do you really think it was for him to leak such big information about us?" The middle-aged man spoke much more rationally this time, the effect of his boss's voice kicking in.
"It doesn't matter, this actually makes this game quite interesting. The 8 Generals Of Purity will be able to move more accordingly now." Orochi spoke from within her spot. She was covered in a large blanket of darkness as she was talking, only a pair of gold eyes were shining.
"I see. The Eight Generals are all strong enough to counter Champions." Verde gulped quite nervously, he wasn't much of a fighter, merely a hacker who's done multiple scams on innocent people.
"Correct. In Kanto, hails Python, he utilizes Poisons Types." Orochi answered. Verde nodded quickly.
An image of Python came up, it was a young man in his early twenties. His hair was a dark shade of violet and his eyes radianted the eyes of a killer. They were gold in color with black silts. His face was rigid and the nasty grin on his face showed a psychopath.
"In Johto, Umbra. She uses Dark Type pokemon and has a grudge against Legendary Pokemon." The next was a young girl who looked no older than twenty years of age. She possessed a charming face that could rival Karen's. Her hair was waist length blond and her eyes were a cerulean blue that sparkled like the ocean.
"In Hoenn we have Marsha, she uses Water Types. She's a bit of a lively one, rather odd. However, I am fond of her kindness." Marsha appeared in the next image . Marsha appeared to be in her thirties, possessing the face of a veteran and someone who went through trial and error. Marsha possesed wavy brown hair and a ruby gem as an accessory on the left side of her head.
"In Sinnoh, we have Tobias. He's currently watching an interesting fellow for me."
"Who is it?"
"Are you aware of the Alexander Clan?"
The Saigai boss was met with silence, she merely let off a hearty chuckle as she watched Verde's questioning gaze.
"The Alexander Clan is a prestigious clan that quelled the legendary pokemon. In most ages they didn't help but they did leave the necessary tools to do so." Orochi explained, like a teacher would to their class.
"I see, I didn't think that was possible."
"Anything is possible my friend. The Alexander Clan is where I hail from after all."
Verde didn't say anything but showed visible shock. He didn't know what to think of what he had just been told. He just stood there eating in all the information.
"My grandfather was a great man, however he failed in doing his task. I'm simply doing what he couldn't, but better."
A slight hiss turned into a sinister giggle came from the depths of the shadow looming in front of Verde, getting him to gulp nervously.
"My Little Brother opposes me, I should feel...resentment, anger but I do not, not towards him, but towards our parents. Our Grandfather. My Brother was brainwashed into thinking that he was an only child. My Parents kept us separated because our destinies were different. Ha! Laughable."
Verde heard from the depths a sliding sound. As a snake would cross a leaf covered ground, on the move to find its next meal.
"What is the purpose of the Alexanders…."
"Oh! I did ramble a bit, but yes. Our main objective was to destroy this world, funny right? But what if I could reset the world, reset it to where my clan never existed? That's what my main goal is to do, but things could change." Orochi answered a bit more calmly like before.
"I see, but why would Alexander help protect the world only for their goal was to destroy it?"
The question got a light hum from Orochi who tapped her heels on the cold teal looking floor.
"That's because Arceus is the main villain in the grand scheme of history. Its powers are boundless, which is why I made a contract with Asmodeus."
"I understand now, sorry for the questions."
"Don't be, the smart ones are the ones who ask questions….now shall i continue?"
"Yes."
…
"I can feel a terrible omen for some reason."
"Really? And we just made it to Hearthome, can that Omen hold off for a bit?"
Gedeon proceeded on to his rented room, a small and doable unit. It was a dark auburn color with a nice sized bed and a window view to the new battle stadium.
"For a while now, I always felt it, ever since we came here to Sinnoh, but I wonder why? It just got worse now of all times."
Susanoo sounded more worried this time around which caused Gedeon to stop what he was doing and stare at the floating spirit with a gaze. Susanoo's body posture and everything showed signs of someone who was feeling fear.
"Are you scared?"
"Of course I am! I never felt like this before, something tells me we need to find the culprit fast."
"You're right, maybe here at the battle tournament we'll find some clues."
RING!
"Oh, who's the call from Rotom?"
"IT'S FROM LOOKER!" Rotom answered in a booming tone, as if speaking through a microphone.
"Answer."
Rotom did as was told and clicked itself. Gedeon looked at his phone to see Looker with a grim expression.
"What's wrong? Why do you look so gloomy?" Gedeon asked the policeman.
["Well, we ran into some trouble at the stadium and I think it was another Hydreast incident."]
"Seriously? What did you find?"
["The culprits weren't arrested but i'm positive it had to be the work of a human and a pokemon this time, the body count was much more this time, we have ten bodies here, five humans and five pokemon. The victims all suffered from a hypnosis of sorts and seemed to die…..in their sleeps."]
"Are you saying that the trainer had his pokemon kill people in their sleep?"
Gedeon wasn't so sure of the story, but it wasn't so far off. People did die in their sleep due to problems to the body but this seemed a bit fishy.
['Correct, but this level of sleep is not just some Gengar using Hypnosis and using Dream Eater, i'm talking about this is something a Darkrai would do! And the human is still a mystery, this Darkrai has a trainer."]
Gedeon stood there silently as the words of Looker coursed through his mind, he had just met Darkrai, how could it have been captured? That shouldn't have been possible unless you had something of equal calibur stand up to it, and even then, Darkrai were powerful.
"Don't forget, I felt more than one Darkrai, so it's best to assume the one we met wasn't captured, but the one who wasn't there in Alamos was. If so, I fear this just makes the case much worse." Susanoo appeared, erasing any doubt from Gedeon's mind.
"Looker, I'll be there in a few."
Gedeon ordered Rotom to end the call, which it obliged too. The young adult sat down at the edge of his bed, his feet were tapping violently. He needed a new course of action. But he can't just blindly rush into enemy territory.
He didn't even know where to start!
"I need to win this tournament so Darkrai can appear to me face-to-face. That's the only way."
"Sadly this is our only chance, Let's go meet looker and get straight to training."
"Right!" Gedeon jumped up, pumping his fist eagerly.
Gedeon knew the time for action was quickly approaching. He needed to get stronger here and now.
-END-
AN: Another chapter done and I felt this was great in terms of pacing. We get to see more appearances of Calamity-eyed Pokemon and some more perspectives of our villain who dropped a huge twist. Gedeon is sure to be in for a ride when he comes face to face with his sister.
Was this too early to show off? No.
I felt if I did this now, I can dedicate more chapters to Orochi and the new 8 generals of purity.
Did you guys expect Tobias to be in it? Probably not.
I hope not…
But anyway, yes Tobias will be quite the problem. That's all I'll say.
I hope to end this battle tournament in three chapters, it'll be quite interesting. I'll probably take longer to dish out chapters since I want to write this short arc in 3 chapters. So bear with this until the next chapter, yeah?
If you guys have any questions, suggestions or submissions, let me know in the Review or simply PM me.
Next chapter will be quite interesting.
Until then, stay safe and healthy!
