Chapter 1 Soul Reaper
Long ago the Soul Reapers had a group of great and powerful allies.
Being with such great power they kept the hollows in check that they never reached the higher levels that they are now known for.
They were known as the Ghost Riders.
Beings with incredible power that anything was possible.
Even capable of purging the darkness from the souls of humans when killed and purifying the hollows.
They kept the Hollows in check and the Soul Society rarely ever suffered a loss because of them.
Then one day The hollows attacked the Ghost riders in a rare opportunity of weakness.
With this blow the Soul society lost their greatest ally and the hollows power grew to what it is now.
Both the hollows and Soul Society believed the great bloodline was forever gone. Never to return.
They thought wrong.
Present time
One Ichigo was greatly annoyed.
These punks had knocked out a vase filled with flowers and now he was made.
Granted he was easy to annoy.
"Yo."
Ichigo blinked before turning around seeing a guy.
He was dressed in black leather jeans with black combat boots on. Had a black shirt with a skull on and a black leather jacket with three spikes on each shoulder and spiked gloves. Had a large muscled build white skin with brown hair and forest green eyes.
"Sorry about that. Those guys knocked over a vase I left because a kid died here a while ago." Ichigo said seeing the girl next to him.
"You mean here?" He asked pointing at her which surprised him.
"You...Can see spirits?" Ichigo asked.
"Course. You're not the only gifted person in town ya know. Names Sean by the way." Sean said.
"Ichigo. You new in town?" Ichigo asked.
"Something like that. Anyway I should be heading back home." Sean said.
"My place is pretty close if you need something." Ichigo said.
"Fine by me." Sean said as they walked off.
Soon they arrived at a his home.
"Ya live at a medical clinic?" Sean asked.
"Eh nothing much but it's home." Ichigo said as they went inside. "Uh just a bit of warning my dad can be a little...Weird." Ichigo said.
"How so?" Sean asked as they went inside.
"I'm home and I..." Ichigo said before his father kicked him making Sean chuckle.
"Wow." Sean said.
"You let your guard down. Always stay alert when you enter a room and your later for dinner again." Isshin said.
"Jesus Christ." Sean said chuckling getting his attention.
"Oh I see you brought a friend too. My name is Isshin Kurosaki." Isshin said.
"Sean. And Ichigo and I just met." Sean said.
"Oh sure! You attack me but not him!" Ichigo yelled annoyed.
"Damn." Sean said walking to the kitchen seeing two girls eat who were clearly twins. "Hello there." Sean said making them look at him.
"Hi. You a friend of Ichigo's? My name is Karin and this is my sister Yuzu." Karin said.
"Sean. Got any spares?" Sean asked before receiving a bowel. "Thank you." Sean said eating before watching the father-son duo fight. "This a regular thing?" Sean asked.
"Mostly. You get used to it." Karin said before noticing a spirit above him. "You know you got a spirit above ya right?" Karin asked.
"I'm aware...Buzz off." Sean said shooing him away.
"Of so you can see them like Ichigo and Karin." Kuzu said amazed.
"Pretty much. It's annoying how they just pop up anywhere. One minute you can be sitting on the toilet and they just barge in." Sean said making Karin snicker as did Yuzu.
"Funny." Karin said before Izzhin hit the wall.
"And you're out." Sean said chuckling.
"Ugh. I'm really sorry about that." Ichigo said.
"No problem. If anything my brothers and I are somewhat similar. See ya later." Sean said leaving.
Next day
Sean was walking into the town when he noticed some destruction.
"Hmm? What happened here?" Sean asked before one of the police walked to him.
"Everything is under control citizen. Most likely some explosives went off."
Sean took a closer look.
'Explosives my ass. No explosives leave claw like damage.' Sean thought.
"Hey, Sean." Ichigo said walking to him.
"Hey." Sean said still looking at the damage.
"The hell did that?" Ichigo asked.
"Not explosives thats for damn sure. Cops can say whatever the hell they want. But explosives don't do that." Sean said looking at the claw marks.
"Yeah. What do you think did?" Ichigo asked.
"That I..." Sean tried to say before some kind of roaring making them widen their eyes before an explosion or something similar to it went off making people scatter while they went to the source.
"The hell was that?" Ichigo asked before they saw the spirit girl who was running away before something busted out of the wall.
It was a strange monster with a mask on growling at them.
Sean narrowed his eyes
"Help me!"
"Run for it!" Ichigo yelled before some woman appeared and slashed the monster making blood appear as they watched before she slashed it in half before it vanished.
The girl had white skin black hair and black eyes before her eyes landed on Sean before vanishing.
"The hell just happened?" Ichigo asked.
"Hmm." Sean said.
Later
"So what do you think that was all about anyway?" Ichigo asked.
"I'm gonna be honest I know exactly what that was. It was..." Sean tried to say before the same woman from before jumped into Ichigo's room.
"You again?" Ichigo asked before she took out her sword. "GET THAT THING AWAY!" Ichigo yelled.
"It's getting closer. I can feel it." She said before feeling someone poke her making her blink before turning and faced Sean who looked amused.
"You know it's not polite to come into someone's home uninvited." Sean said surprising her.
"You both can see me?"
"We're talking to ya right?" Sean asked.
"Wait a minute. You two were the ones I saw in town earlier."
"Yeah, so what?" Ichigo asked.
"How very strange. You both look normal, but you must be defective in some way." She said pulling Ichigo's cheek making Sean snicker.
"Um I wouldn't do that." Sean said.
"I'll show you defective." Ichigo said trying to kick her.
"Knock it off." Sean said.
"So who are you anyway?" Ichigo asked.
"She's a soul reaper." Sean said shocking her.
"A soul reaper?" Ichigo asked.
"Let me explain it this way. Their job is to find souls that remain in the land of the living. Like that girl we saw or that guy right there." Sean said seeing the same ghost he met when he first came to this place.
Only for the girl to hit the butt of her sword on his head before he vanished.
"Thanks for that."
"Where'd he go?" Ichigo asked.
"To the Soul society. It's where souls go when passing on. There are some souls like him and the girl who remain her for their own reasons. His because he was afraid of being sent to hell. The girl just wants to find peace. Now...Why don't you tell us who you are." Sean said looking at the girl.
"My name is Rukia Kuchiki. Now how do you know so much about the Soul Society and Soul Reapers?" Rukia asked.
"Yeah I'm wondering the same thing." Ichigo said.
"You could say I've done my research for one. But I know a lot more. I know at one point the Hollows which Soul Reapers are tasked with destroying when they appear weren't as powerful thousands of years ago as they are today." Sean said.
"Hollows?" Ichigo asked.
"That thing we saw her kill. Some souls become those things and they devour the souls of the dead and living depending on the level of spirit pressure they have. Like you. Thats how you can see spirits so easily and Karin." Sean said.
"Oh I get it. That actually makes sense." Ichigo said.
"Thats right. There are certain humans that can see spirits and some have unique abilities. Some of these people have become valuable allies over the years. Their rare but not uncommon. As for the Hollows they weren't as powerful thousands of years ago as they are today." Rukia said.
"Oh yeah? What changed? Too many of you got killed?" Ichigo asked.
"Us? No. An ally we had in the world of the living. We called them Ghost Riders. They not only kept the hollows in check but also purged darkness from any soul both regular and hollows." Rukia said.
"What happened?" Ichigo asked.
"During a rare moment of vulnerability the Ghost Riders powers shut down and the hollows attacked them on that night. It was a massacre. None were spared the horrific onslaught the Hollows delivered that night. That was over 2,000 years ago. With the Ghost Riders gone the Soul society struggled for a few decades to maintain order with keeping the hollows in check. But without them there was chaos. Finally we managed to maintain a grip on most that come to the land of the living. But there are some that are just too powerful for lower ranked soul reapers." Rukia said.
"So you guys are struggling." Ichigo said.
"Not exactly but it was a lot easier when the Ghost Riders were around. We tried to see if some had survived but sadly none were ever found. We all concluded the bloodline was ended on that night." Rukia said.
"Ouch." Ichigo said.
"Now then." Rukia said pulling out some kind of sketch book that had terrible drawings on them. "Like Sean said there are two types of souls out there. The kind like that guy from before is a good one along with that girl. And the hollows are the bad kind. And since the Riders are gone they've grown in power. Any questions before I go on?" Rukia asked.
"First of all...Why do your drawings suck so bad?" Ichigo said making a tick mark appear on her head before she quickly drew on his face a spiral like mustache. "AHHH! Your gonna pay for that!" Ichigo yelled making Sean laugh.
"You so deserve that." Sean said before he rubbed it off.
"Let us continue with our lesson, monsieur." Rukia said with a french accent making Sean chuckle.
"Cute." Sean said making her grin.
"Now there are two responsibilities a Soul reaper is given. The Primary is to look for Souls like that guy from before. And bring them to soul society. The second is to hunt down hollows whenever they appear. But each one is unique and powerful in their own way." Rukia said.
"Like the one we saw." Ichigo said.
"Exactly. Now there is another here but I'm having trouble locating it which usually doesn't happen." Rukia said troubled by that.
"Not unless this one can mask it's presence from far distances before it gets really close." Sean said.
"Probably right." Rukia said before they all heard a terrifying roar.
"Like that." Sean said before they before they heard a crash followed by Yuzu yelling.
"Thats Yuzu!" Ichigo yelled as they ran off.
When they arrived they saw a hollow holding Yuzu and Karin who screamed.
"Great. This one is even uglier than the last one." Sean said as Ichigo charged in. "Ichigo! Don't be a fool!" Sean yelled.
Ichigo yelled as he grabbed a chair about to slam it into him before it tried to hit him but Sean moved him out the way.
"What are you doing!" Ichigo yelled.
"Think clearly! That thing is huge! You're no match for it!" Sean yelled before Rukia cut the arm making it roar before dropping the girls before Sean caught Karin while Ichigo got Yuzu.
"Yuzu, Karin!" Ichigo yelled.
"Relax. They'll be fine. It didn't devour their souls so they'll be fine." Sean said making him sigh in relief.
"Why is it here?" Ichigo asked.
"If I had to guess it's after you." Sean said confusing him. "Hollows are attracted to those with high level spirit energy. And yours is flowing out. Thats why it and the other appeared. They were looking for you." Sean said.
Thats when Rukia yelled as she was bitten.
"Rukia!" Ichigo yelled as Sean rushed to her and pulled her back.
"You ok?" Sean asked.
"Yeah...I'll live...But I can't fight that thing alone." Rukia said before looking at Ichigo. "You want to save your family...Right?" Rukia asked.
"Of course I do. If there's a way, then tell me how." Ichigo said.
"You plan to make him a substitute soul reaper don't you?" Sean asked.
"Only for a little while until I recover." Rukia said.
"Then do it." Ichigo said making her run her blade through his chest before a bright flash blinded the hollow before its left arm was torn off.
Ichigo in Soul reaper clothes had a massive blade on him.
"Whoa. Thats impressive. Did you give him all of it on purpose?" Sean asked.
"No...It was only supposed to be half but somehow he took almost all of it." Rukia said as Ichigo slashed it in half killing it. "Theres more to him than I realized." Rukia said before they heard another hollow making them look seeing it was twice as big as the last one.
"Oh great." Ichigo said before Sean put Rukia down as he approached it.
"What are you doing! You can't fight that thing." Rukia said.
"Remember when I said I did my research on soul reapers and the Soul Society? I kinda lied. I know a lot about them since I'm a thousand years old." Sean said confusing her.
"Wait what?" Rukia asked before White flames engulfed him as his skin burned off before roaring at the Hollow who actually looked fearful.
"What the?" Ichigo asked confused as Rukia looked in shock.
"He's a...Ghost Rider!" Rukia yelled as the hollow roared as it tried to run off only for Sean to pull out a chain before wrapping it around it before it burned making it roar in pain before blowing up.
Sean growled as he turned human before looking at them.
"Not all of us are dead. Theres a few left." Sean said.
Later
Rukia had taken Sean to someone she knew in the human world all Soul Reapers went to for supplies.
A man known as Kizuke Urahara. He had white skin grey eyes and palish blonde hair.
With him were his workers Tessai Tsukabishi, Jinta Hanakari, and Ururu Tsumugiya.
"So...You're one of the last few Ghost Riders huh?" Kizuke asked amused.
"There are at least five of us left. Two of them are my brothers. They're all currently traveling the world as we have for the last 1,000 years." Sean said.
"Why haven't any of you come back to the Soul Society?" Rukia asked.
"Because there were rumors that some people in the Soul Society might be the reason they were wiped out." Kizuke said shocking her. "We all knew about the time date when the Ghost Riders would be vulnerable for at least one night. They were supposed to have protection but it never showed up. Some suspected that some Soul Reapers wanted them removed so they could take up all the action of fighting the Hollows and take all the glory. Only it backfired and a lot of Soul Reapers were killed as a result." Kizuke said.
"So you didn't reveal yourselves because you felt betrayed." Rukia said.
"In a manner of speaking yes. My father who was weakened after that left the remains of that genocide and those that did survive. They decided not to reveal themselves until the time was right. And then they had us before passing on due to the weakened state they were all in. We decided to continue with not letting the Soul Society we still existed. But some do know about our existence. But have sworn not to tell the rest until the time was right." Sean said.
"Like who?" Rukia asked.
"That I will keep to myself since I don't want those people getting in trouble." Sean said.
"Ok fine." Rukia said. "But why are you here?" Rukia asked.
"Like I said. Traveling. But I suppose it's time I start getting more active now." Sean said before the two left.
"By the way. You never gave me your full name." Rukia said.
"Sean Ashburn Kruger." Sean said making her blink.
"Kruger? As in the head family that ruled the other Riders?" Rukia asked.
"Yup. Now Considering how the fact is you've lost all your power your gonna need to use a Gigai for a while and a place to stay. My place is big enough if your interested." Sean said making her blink before smiling lightly.
"Sure. I appreciate that" Rukia said as they walked back to his place.
Above them however was a black cat looking at them.
"Hmm. This one is very interesting."
Authors Note: I've recently gotten into this series this year. So now I'm making a story here and now. Add to the fact the series is coming back later this year to finish the series after so damn long. Now while my focus is on my Legend of Korra Legendary Godzilla crossover story the Avatar's guardian I did still want to publish this. But I'll update this every chance I can since I'm interested in going far with this story. Now the Harem is still in progress so I won't post it yet. But hopefully it'll be up soon.
