Showdown in the Shadows Part 2

I don't own Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh

Tea chuckled darkly, smirking as she basked in the victory that was almost hers. "Now that I've taken the Winged Dragon of Ra from you, my victory is assured. One more turn and you will vanish into the Shadow Realm. With your former self on my team there's no way I can lose." She gloated, the good half of Marik standing beside her while her opponent remained unfazed.

Marik drew his next card while Tea glanced down at her hand. "How does it feel to know that I hold your most powerful card?" she asked with a smirk. "After it strikes, I'll win, and you will be consumed by the very shadows you brought forth when our duel began."

"And I shall reclaim the body that you have stolen from me." The other half of Marik said.

"You have it wrong. You should be on your knees thanking me for you would not be where you are today if not for me." Marik replied.

"How so?"

"Don't tell me you forgot that when you were a child, it was I who took over your body and forced you to claim the Millennium Rod. Since that day, the Rod has been yours while I remained hidden in the depths of your soul. But now that I'm in control again the Rod's power is mine." Marik said with a dark smirk.

"Until the Winged Dragon of Ra destroys you!"

"Your ranting has grown tiresome. This Shadow Game will end with one of us perishing in the shadows, now allow me to make my move. I play this, the Magic card Vengeful Bog Spirit. This card forces all monsters to wait a turn before attacking, so even if you could summon the Winged Dragon of Ra, you wouldn't be able to use it yet." Marik explained.

"I'm afraid such a desperate move will only delay your destruction." Tea said. She drew another card and smirked. "Now then, let the fun begin. I sacrifice Headless Knight, Goblin Zombie and The Earl of Demise to tribute summon The Winged Dragon of Ra!"

"Not so fast." Marik said with a smirk. "My face down trap card is about to render your dragon useless."

"What?" Tea asked in shock as Marik's face down card flipped up to reveal itself and it glowed an eerie light blue, her monsters then began to groan as wisps of smoke leaked from their bodies and they began to look visibly weaker before they began fading away.

"Before they go to the Graveyard, the trap card Joyful Doom will strip your three monsters of their attack points and add them to my life-points. That means your monsters will have zero attack points when they go to the Graveyard. This will make Ra completely useless to you." Marik explained as his life-points climbed to 8550.

"What's going on? Explain yourself!" Tea demanded as bright orange and red flames began to surround her as The Winged Dragon of Ra emerged behind her.

"Just take a look at your pathetic monster. It's powerless!" Marik said with a cackle. "You may have summoned The Winged Dragon of Ra, but thanks to my trap card he has no power at all!"

The Winged Dragon of Ra let out a tremendous roar while Tea and the other half of Marik saw it had 0 Attack points and 3450 Defence points. Tea growled and she looked at the other half of Marik. "Why didn't you tell me that he had that trap card in his deck!?" She asked him.

"Because I did not know he had placed that card in his deck you fool. Now all the strength that would have transferred to Ra has gone to his life-points instead!" the other half of Marik answered.

"I won't let this little roadblock stop me. I switch my Puppet Master and Ra into defence mode." Tea said.

"You don't have much choice." Marik said with a mocking laugh.

Meanwhile, down in the blimp, Daisuke slowly opened her eyes when she felt her birthmark beginning to warm up. It then pulsed a few times sending a surge of pain through her hand, she hissed and sat up rubbing it trying to sooth the pain. "Why the heck is this acting up now?" She thought before hearing something coming from above. "Is someone dueling right now?" she asked herself, a pit forming in her stomach as she began to get a bad feeling.

Back at the duel, Marik drew his next card with a smirk. "This duel is almost over."

"Just make your move." Tea told him.

"If you insist. Drillago attack her Puppet Master with Spiral Thrust!" Marik ordered and Drillago charged and destroyed Puppet Master easily. "And The Winged Dragon of Ra is next."

"I can turn this duel around." Tea said, drawing her next card. "With just one card."

"You can't be referring to your Egyptian God Card, I told you its useless." Marik said.

"Useless for attacking maybe. But it is perfect for sacrificing to summon something stronger." Tea said with a smirk, holding a card in the air as Ra was consumed by a bright flash of light. "I summon the Dark Ruler!" she shouted, summoning her new monster.

The new monster wore ornate and royal looking clothing, had dark green skin, thin red eyes, markings over its face a grey beard, two large horns either side of its head and in one hand it held a glass of wine. It had 2450 Attack points and 1600 Defence points.

Marik however simply smirked, unfazed by her move. "So, you forsake Ra already. That mistake will cost you dearly." He told her, looking at the cards in his hand which included Monster Reborn.

"Of course. The Winged Dragon of Ra was far too weak to finish you off, but now it's buried in my Graveyard. Even if you did revive the monster, it would have zero Attack points. So, if you wish to fight me with a useless monster by your side go ahead. I will gladly take pleasure in destroying you and then feed you to the Shadow Realm."

"Yes. Win this duel and free my body from that fiend!" the other side of Marik thought.

"Next. I shall continue my onslaught. I banish from my Graveyard three monsters to special summon Dark Necrofear." Tea said and the monster that had faced Yami earlier that day appeared beside Dark Ruler. "I then play the magic card Premature Burial to pay 800 life-points to bring back the Earl of Demise. Now I have three monsters on the field." She finished as her life-points fell to 1100 and another part of her body faded away.

"Be careful with how you waste our life-points you fool!" the other half of Marik scolded the possessed duelist who turned to him as her three monsters stood before her.

"What do you mean our life-points you parasite? I'm the one fighting this duel, not you." She growled at him.

"Calling me a parasite is ironic coming from you. You're the one using another's body to duel since your original host is too weak to support you. Now if you want the secrets of the Pharaoh's power you will listen to me!" the other side of Marik told her.

"But you've not helped me at all in this duel. You are the reason why I couldn't finish this duel with The Winged Dragon of Ra!"

"And it is your fault we've lost so many life-points!"

Marik smirked as he watched the two bickering amongst themselves. "Just look at those two, it's so sad when such good friends can't get along." He thought before he cleared his throat. "Your monsters are impressive, but my Vengeful Bog is still in effect meaning they can't attack until next turn."

"I'm well aware of that!" Tea growled, her cheeks light pink as she glared at him. "Make your next move already!"

"Very well, but I can barely see you over there. It won't be long until you vanish completely." Marik said as he drew his next card.

Back in the blimp, Kaiba was still awake, working tirelessly at his computer while Mokuba and White-Veemon slept on the chair next to him, the two having the older Kaiba's coat as a blanket. "Let's see what will happen if I use my Crush Card combination against The Winged Dragon of Ra." He thought before hearing the door to the room slide open.

He turned around and saw Daisuke standing at the door, leaning against it while rubbing her eye. "What're you still doing up?" she asked him.

"I should be the one asking you that." Kaiba answered. "You should be resting in the infirmary."

"I couldn't sleep. Felt like I needed to take a walk." Daisuke said, walking over and gently rubbing his shoulder as she watched his computer run the simulations. "So, you still trying to think of a way to defeat Ra?"

He nodded and turned back to the computer and gasped when the simulation finished. "Only thirteen percent chance of victory? Ra is stronger than I thought." He said.

"Well, it is an Egyptian God Card. They are bound to have a lot of powerful abilities." Daisuke told him with a small grin. Kaiba nodded before the computer beeped as some more data came up and they both read it.

"Instant Attack…it seems Ra has even more special abilities than I thought." Kaiba said softly. "I must add it to my deck. Obelisk already belongs to me, and winning Slifer from Yugi will be easy. But The Winged Dragon of Ra is in a class of its own. The three Egyptian God Cards are the most unique cards in Duel Monsters. They are effectively immune to most trap cards, and magic cards only last for one turn."

Daisuke sighed softly and turned his face to look at her. "You know you don't need to have an all-powerful deck to be the best duelist in the world, right?" she asked him softly, rubbing his cheek with her thumb as he looked into her eyes before he huffed and turned back to the computer making her shake her head with a small smile.

Back with Marik, he was looking at the cards in his hand with a small smirk. "If I use Monster Reborn on The Winged Dragon of Ra, it will only remain on the field for a short time. That is because magic cards last only for one turn when used on the Egyptian God Cards. And with Vengeful Bog in effect, all monsters must wait a turn before they can attack meaning that Ra would be sent back to the Graveyard before he could attack. However, with Ra's special abilities, I won't need to worry about that." He thought.

"This Shadow Game is about to end. You're about to learn the secrets of my Egyptian God Card the hard way. I activate Monster Reborn. You're finished." He then told Tea and his other half. "I shall bring back the card you took from me. The Winged Dragon of Ra!"

Tea looked at her duel disk and gasped when the Graveyard slot began to glow and intense heat and flames began to shoot out of it into the air, she cried out in shock as the flames formed into The Winged Dragon of Ra which took its place above Marik.

"Calm down you fool, his Attack points are still 0. Plus, his Vengeful Bog card is still in play, meaning he can't attack now anyway." The other half of Marik said, trying to calm his partner's worries.

"I'm afraid you are mistaken. I told you that you didn't know all of Ra's special abilities. Prepare to witness Instant Attack!" Marik said.

"Instant Attack, what does he mean!?" Tea questioned the other half of Marik who was just as confused.

"I don't know. I suppose The Winged Dragon of Ra does have more secret powers than I realised."

"That's correct. And once I unleash those powers, you'll both be wandering the Shadow Realm for all eternity while I rule the world as Pharaoh." Marik said laughing madly.

He crossed his arms and Tea, and his other half both watched in disbelief as his entire body began to slowly turn to smoke, which then began floating up into the blue gem on Ra's forehead.

"What's going on? Why is your body disappearing into the shadows?" Tea asked.

"I am using Ra's special ability of Point-to-Point Transfer!"

"What is Point-to-Point Transfer?"

"I am giving all my life-points to Ra to make it stronger. But don't worry, I will leave one life-point to myself so that I don't lose." Marik explained, the shadows continuing to enter Ra's body as the Egyptian God roared loudly, its entire body glowing brightly as both its Attack points and Defence points began to climb to 8549.

Tea then spotted most of Marik's body emerge from the top of Ra's head, leaving only part of his head and hand that held his cards behind on the field. "We have merged to become one mighty creature. And now for Instant Attack!"

"Instant Attack…you don't mean you can attack now, even with your Vengeful Bog on the field do you!?"

"Oh, but I do. Prepare for your destruction. Winged Dragon of Ra, unleash your rage upon her monsters!" Marik shouted. The Egyptian God roared and unleashed a massive ball of flame down at Tea's monsters, the three all roaring in agony as they were turned to ash one by one. "Now it is time for my other half to be banished into the Shadow Realm."

The other half of Marik cried out as the flames engulfed his body and he vanished from sight. "All that is left is for you." Marik told Tea with a smirk.

The young woman's body was smoking, sweat dripping down her head as her life-points fell to 0. "You really think it is that easy to destroy me?" she asked with a twisted smile. "I am the darkness itself. You haven't seen the last of me."

The Millennium Ring began glowing brightly, Marik shielding his eyes from the light and when the light faded, the Millennium Item dropped to the floor with a clatter and Tea's body was lying beside it, her body completely intact.

"So, the fool gave himself up to protect the girl. How noble." He said with a smirk. He walked over to the unconscious girl and picked up the Millennium Ring before he walked away, leaving her where she laid.

Meanwhile, deep inside the Millennium Puzzle, Yami Bakura slowly emerged from the shadows under a staircase. "That fool thinks he has gotten rid of me. But fortunately, I placed a piece of my soul inside the Millennium Puzzle while that foolish little boy was piecing it back together after it had been smashed. Now, it is time to explore the depths of this Puzzle, the secrets of the Pharaoh will soon be mine." he said as he walked off into the endless maze that was the Millennium Puzzle.

Back with Kaiba, Daisuke and the sleeping Mokuba and White-Veemon. Daisuke placed her hand on Kaiba's shoulder again. "I think you've done enough research for tonight. There is another round of finals tomorrow, remember?"

Kaiba looked at her before rubbing his eyes and fighting down a yawn. "I know. It's why I am doing this, to prepare myself for when I face off against Yugi and Marik."

"Oh, so you don't need to prepare yourself against me?" Daisuke asked with a smirk, crossing her arms, raising an eyebrow at Kaiba who scoffed.

"Not at all. Dueling you will be a challenge, but not one that I am unprepared for." he said cockily.

"Really?" Daisuke asked. Kaiba stood up and leaned closer to her making her begin to blush brightly, she gulped when he gently gripped her chin almost about to kiss her.

Instead, he smirked and said "Really." before pulling back and walking out of the room leaving Daisuke standing there stunned before she blinked and frowned.

"Hey, you can't do that ya jerk!" She shouted and took off out of the room chasing down the older Kaiba brother.

She finally caught up with him and saw him standing on the bridge as the blimp continued its journey. "We're almost at our destination. KaibaCorp Island. This is where the finals will end, and the champion will be crowned." He told her; his arms crossed as both looked out the windows at the night sky.

"Wow you have an entire island named after you. Impressive." Daisuke said with a grin.

"It's the sight of where my step-father was last seen. After I took over the corporation and left him with nothing." Kaiba replied with a grim expression. "I built a tower on the island, to symbolise the new era of KaibaCorp, it still stands there to this day. Now I am returning, having built my empire all on my own with nobody to rely on except for me."

Daisuke gave him a concerned look before looking out the windows again, the pit of dread building in her stomach continued to grow.
