People splashed around in the river, they found a cool little part that lead to a water fall, she sat on the side with her feet in, watching the water roll off the rocks and into the crystal clear water.
People were jumping off the top, she smiled as some people floated by and waved at her, some even asked her how she was doing. She put on a brave face and acted like she wasn't living in a crappy part of town in a run down apartment, it didn't take long for Ino to find him, she spotted Ino in the arms of her prince charming. She laughed lightly and shook her head, Ino was beaming as they danced to the music, both looking happy to seen one another.
"Haruno!" She looked up at the top of the waterfall as a guy called out her name, "Come on up, you should try this!"
The brown haired boy jumped in the water and swam to where she was, "I don't know about that, I'm fine where I'm at."
"Oh come on, you mean to tell me you came to a river party and you don't plan on swimming?" She laughed lightly, and looked back over at the waterfall, it wasn't too high.
"Okay, I'll do it. How do I get up there?" She pulled her legs out of the water and left her tank top and shorts on the towel and followed the boy up the rocks to the top.
Peeking over the edge, her heart started to race a little, "It's a little higher than I thought."
"Don't be scared, you have to jump now." She looked back at the boy and the group of people standing behind him.
"This was a bad idea." She said to herself, she looked back over the rocks, not ready to jump anymore.
"I changed my mind ." She went to walk by him but he grabbed her arm, squeezing tightly she looked back at him, his brown eyes seemed different than they were before.
"You're going over the edge, whether you like it or not." She pulled her closer to the edge, her heart began to beat faster, "You don't remember me do you?"
She shook her head unable to match the face to a name, "We almost lost our house because of your family, my dad lost his job and because he worked for your father it made it harder for him to find another job."
"I didn't have anything to do with that." She whispered, the grip on her arm was tighter than before. He pulled her so hard she lost her balance and fell to the rocky surface.
"Come on Min, this isn't funny anymore." Min looked at the one who spoke and laughed.
"What isn't funny is that she had the nerve to show up here like nothing happened, you waltz in here because your friend is Ino but that doesn't change what your shitty family did." Sakura looked down at the rocks around and tried to stand up only to be knocked down again.
"I know you're not picking on a girl." Her eyes widened as she followed the sound of the new voice, a voice she knew too well.
"It's none of your business Uzumaki." Min grabbed her arm and pulled her to her feet wrapping his arm around her shoulder, "We're just joking, no harm done."
"Really? She doesn't look like she's having any fun." Naruto stepped forward, he was taller than she was now, his hair was still a spikey mess and his blue eyes were still as bright as ever. His skin was kissed by the sun, a tattoo on his chest.
Min rolled his eyes laughed, removing his arm from around her shoulder he shoved her hard over the edge. Her scream was caught in her throat as she hit the water without making a sound, the impact stun her chest as she belly flopped into the water.
Breaking the surface she grabbed the river side and started to pull herself out, her chest was red from impact. Wrapping her towel around her body she shoved her clothes in her bag and ran, leaving her shoes behind, not wanting to see the faces of the people around she.
"Sakura!" She stopped and turned around, Naruto was making his way towards her, he was soaked.
"Did you jump in?" she blurted out, breathing heavily from her not so quick get away.
"After I hit him, are you okay? You don't have to leave." He grabbed her face and pulled her hands away revealing her red chest.
"I don't want to be here, I only came because Ino begged me too, I don't belong here anymore." She turned to walked but her grabbed her arm.
"You belong here as much as I do, don't let one person ruin it for you." She looked away, tears threatening to fall.
"I don't want to go back." He sighed grabbing her shoulders he looked into her green eyes.
"Stay here, I'll be right back." Confused, she nodded as he ran back towards the party, a few minutes went by he came back with his backpack and a set of keys, "Come on."
"You don't have to leave because of me." She stood in place, her feet now caked with mud.
"I don't really care for these things anymore, let's go do something else." Not giving her any room to answer he lightly grabbed her arm and pulled her along.
Unlocking his jet black car he opened the door for her, she looked down at her feet and grabbed her clothes throwing her tank top back on she threw the towel in the floor and got in. He started the car, leaning back in the seat he looked over at her, her head was still hung low.
Reaching over he placed his finger under her chin and pulled her head up, "What would you like to do?"
"What can we do? We're both soaked." She laughed lightly, he smiled at her and put the car in reverse.
"We can go swimming at my house." Her face started to turn red.
"Y-your house?" She stuttered lightly, and looked out the window embarrassed.
He laughed, "yeah, why not? We're already dressed for it and we can have dinner there too."
"Are you sure that's something you want to do, I can just go home and you can go back to the party, I feel bad." she pushed her wet bangs out of her face, risking a glance she caught him smiling as he drove towards his house.
"Like I said, I don't really care for the parties anymore. They use to be fun but now there's always some jerk stuck in high school who wants to cause some type of drama." His look turned serious as the pulled up to a stop light, "Besides my ex is there and I would rather not deal with her at the moment."
Without thinking she blurted out, "So are the rumors true, did she really cheat on you?"
After it dawned on her, she clamped her hand over mouth and looked at him, "I'm so sorry, I-"
He smiled sadly and nodded, "It's true, she cheated on me after six years."
They road the rest of the way in silence until they pulled up to his house, it was a one story cottage. It looked so out of place with all the mansions that surrounded it.
"This is your house?" She looked out the windshield, the little home looked cozy.
"Yeah, I've never really care for bigger houses." Getting out he lead her to the front, opening the door the house was decorated beautifully. Old family pictures were hung a long the hallway, the kitchen and dining room were connected, it looked like something out of a country home magazine.
"I never took you for the rustic type, she looked around the room amazed at how well everything looked but it made you feel right at home, "It's nice, I like it."
"Thank you." he smiled and lead her to the pool, there was a small waterfall that hid the hot tub, there was a grill off to the side. The pool itself was surrounded by concrete, there was a table and umbrella, and even an outdoor sofa.
"Hungry?" He looked over his shoulder as he lit the gas grill, she nodded lightly, "Sit, and I'll whip something up." She sat on the plush outdoor sofa and practically melted, this was softer than her bed back at home.
"Do you need any help?" He shook his head and soon returned to the grill and started cooking, she often forgot that he was two years older than her, she was twenty and he was twenty-two, he was often the jokers of the group, the one who was always in trouble for some stupid prank, but he seemed a little different now.
She melted into the sofa, all the work and sleepless nights seemed to catch up with her as she leaned back even more, finally feeling relaxed. She got up early today and went into work so she could leave in time for party, she hated helping them prep for the day, making the noodles and broth was the hardest part of the day and it's not like she can sleep when her neighbors fight all night long.
She hasn't seen him in so long yet the first time they're together he makes her feel so at home, and welcome. She could always let her guard down when he was around, it seems not even a few years apart can change that, before she knew her eyes grew heavy and everything around her went dark.
"She must be tired." Naruto laughed lightly, moving her so she was laying down he covered her up with a blanket and finished cooking, sitting down in a chair next to the sofa he ate in peace and let the girl sleep. Watching the sun set, he moved the girl into the house.
Carrying her to his bedroom, he pulled a big shirt over her head and untied her top once it was on so he wouldn't see anything, pulling the blanket up he shut the light off and went to the living room and plopped down on the couch.
The house was quiet as he too drifted off into the night.
