Walking behind her old house there was a small creek that ran through her yard, there was a small opening to let the water out, she reached down and pulled three of the metal bars loose. Sasuke and Naruto looked at her and then at each other, she laughed and looked up at the sky, the skies turned black, and the wind picking up speed.
"Are you scared of getting wet?" She felt like hell, her stomach turned form all the movement.
"Just don't throw up on me." Sasuke growled and followed behind her, Naruto was the last through the small opening almost too big to fit through.
They walked across the yard, the grass was tall and unkept, the weeds took over her mother's prized rose bushes. Her heart ached to see her home in the state it was in, the water in the fountain was green and covered in thick moss. The concrete around it was cracked and littered with weeds as well, making it to the back door unseen so far she reached for the spare key she had hidden here in what she called her reckless year.
The wind whipped around the cool rain lightly tapping against her exposed skins he reached down and jammed the keep in the lock and with ease the door popped open, there was no alarm, they check to see if there was power, "Why would there be power" She asked flipping a light switch.
The once clean kitchen was wrecked, the marble counter tops were cracked and some were even broken, old food boxes were thrown all over the place. The fridge was the worst of all, the old food had gone bad leaving a foul smell, the boys followed her through the house. There were papers, books, and whatever else you could think of all over the floor.
"Did they actually look for anything or just trash the house?" Naruto walked through the living room, picture frames were broken, statues were knocked over, and there were holes in the walls. He looked back to check on Sakura, her eyes lost their light as she looked on at the mess they left.
"Why would they just look, when they can destroy the whole house." She walked past the boys and went up stairs, her parents room was locked, nothing new there. She grabbed something heavy and smashed the door handle until it broke, her parents rooms wasn't somewhere she went often unless they were gone on a long trip.
Walking over to her mother jewelry box she flipped it over dumping what was left of the trinkets on the oak dresser, ripping the cover off the bottom she pulled out a small set of keys. Walking over to the closet she tapped her hand against the wall till she found the spot she was looking for, grabbing something else she smashed the wall and revealed a safe.
"How did you know that was there?" Sasuke was slightly amused, she effortlessly found something the police tore the house apart to find, but failed too.
"I heard them talking about it one night, he said that he was having a wall safe delivered. I snuck in here to see where they were putting it while they were out back having tea." She dailed the code, jammed the key in the lock and it popped open, she grabbed the files and flashes drives, handing them to Sasuke to put in his bag.
"How did you remember the code?" Naruto was confused to say the least.
"I've always been good with numbers, I think of a riddle or a song and match the numbers to that when I want to remember." She walked passed them, looking towards her old room she walked slowly over to her bedroom door.
Opening the door it was wrecked, she sighed looking for a picture or something she could take her with her but it was destroyed. Her clothes were tore and tossed around just like her parents room, dropping to her knees she reached under bed and popped the floorboard up, she pulled out her dairy and a few note books. She put those in her bag but kept one out, flipping through the pages, there was one more spot but it was a little harder to get too.
"There's one place left, it's in the basement." Following her down the stairs to the basement, she opened the door, shining their flashlights down the next set of stairs revealed it had flooded, it seemed to only be waist high. Walking slowly down the carpet cover stairs she looked around. It was a fully furnished basement, everything was ruined, the photos, the furniture, and obviously the carpet.
Looking around in the room she moved slowly to avoid running into anything, "It's around here somewhere."
You could hear the water slowly trickling in from the rain, she tapped the wall and found the hollow spot, grabbing something heavy she smashed it into the wall. Another safe, "how many safes are there?"
"Um, I think about 5 everything they want to hide they put in here. The others are decoys with fake information that was easy to find, they thought of everything." She dialed in on the safe, as soon as the door popped open they could hear footsteps thumping around upstairs. Grabbing the contents of the safe and wrapping them up in plastic before shoving them in the bag, moving slowly away from the stairs and wall they hide behind a bookcase that had previous,y been moved. Sakura was wedged between the two men to protect her, Naruto and Sasuke were both armed.
" I thought you said you got us a window." Naruto hissed, the steps still thumped above them.
"I did, whoever they are, they're not supposed to be here either." He growled, someone told on them, "they might being trying to set us up."
"Hey did you find anything upstairs?" Man one had a deep voice, sounded like he gravel stuck in his throat .
"No, but there is some stuff missing, I think someone else is here." Man two sounded like a smoker, his voice was rough.
"Should we check downstairs?" Sakura's blood ran cold, her heart felt like it was in her throat.
Naruto wrapped his around her and held a finger up to his lips, the two burly men descended into the basement, looking around they spotted the hole in the wall.
"Someone is definitely here" Naruto pressed Sakura into his chest, slowly pulling his gun out as he covered her eyes shots rang out.
Biting her lip to keep herself screaming, she felt hands pull her away from Naruto, looking up shocked it was Sasuke, he was pulling her towards the stairs. One body was floating face down as the second man charged towards Naruto who smiled.
Pulling her up the stairs and out the back door they ran, "What about Naruto?!"
She tried to pry his hands from around her wrist but he was much stranger than she was, "He'll be fine, he did that so I could get you out of there. There's a good chance they want you."
She didn't know much of anything, she knew where they hid a few secrets but minor much else, the rain pelted them booth as he pushed her into the mud, crawling back through the opening they can to the cars. Running through the woods, the rain seemed to stop for a moment before picking back up, stopping she looked back for Naruto. Sasuke grabbed her arm, "we can't just leave him!"
Popping the trunk to his car he threw the bags in there and spun her around, "get in the car or I'll put you in the trunk."
She deadpanned, "you can't just put me in the trunk!"
Rolling his eyes grabbed her arm and pushed her in the trunk of his car, closing the door he walked to the front of his car and got in. Pulling away he could see the blonde, he mad it out with a few bumps and cuts but mostly unharmed.
Getting in the car he followed Sasuke back to his house, once they got there Naruto walked up to Sasuke's car, "where's Sakura?"
He smirked and popped the trunk, Sakura was laying there her hands red from banging on the door, "I can't believe you really locked me in the trunk.."
"You locked her in the trunk." Practically falling out of the trunk she stood up with the help of Naruto.
"She wouldn't stop, I told her I would lock her in there if she didn't stop." He shrugged his shoulders and grabbed the bags, he walked towards the house.
"I didn't know he would do that, I'm sorry." She looked up at him, shaking her head and walking inside.
"I call the shower first." Walking towards Naruto's room he closed the door to the bathroom.
"Does he know you have two bathrooms?" Naruto nodded.
"He's always called the showers first, even when we lived together and there were 3 other bathrooms to chose from." He laughed and pealed off his muddy shirt, he had a few old bruises and a few fresh ones, her hands reached out softly tracing them with her hands.
"Do they hurt?" He shook his head and smiled.
"Nah, it'll take more than this to hurt me." He walked towards the kitchen, he made sure all the door were locked and armed his security system.
"Are you expecting company?" She looked outback, the rain was falling pretty hard now.
"Whoever sent those guys there are going to wonder why they haven't returned and I would rather not be surprised."
Walking to her room she shut the door and started to take off the muddy clothes and lay them on the floor of her shower, she turned on the water and stepped in, jumping where there was a knock on the door, she wrapped herself in a towel and peaked out the cracked door.
"Could I join you? I'll leave my underwear on." He looked away from her, his cheeks were red, he was caked in mud too and obviously didn't want to wait for one of the showers to open up.
She opened the door and got back in, leaving the towel around her body she got back in, holding onto the top so hard her knuckles turned white. The steam filled the shower as they both stood under the water, rinsing off fast she was the first one out of the shower and the first one to get dressed. Wrapping her hair up in a towel, and walking into the kitchen, she started to pull someone of the stuff out of the bag, Sasuke was the second person to get out and they decided up the files they each were going to take and look over.
Naruto was the last person, letting Sasuke out he left without saying much, she looked back at Naruto who was closing the blinds, "Where do you want to start?"
