Sasuke sat in his office, the sun had set meaning it was time for him to break out some of the files they gathered from her house. Naruto insisted on bring Sakura to work a few days a week to get her out of the house, she made a good secretary, within a few days she had all of Naruto's stuff organized from his calendar to his filing cabinet.
They would walk together, when it was time for him to patrol the building, it was nice seeing Naruto smile again. Shaking his head he jammed the key into the locked drawer and pulled it open, he did everything on a separate computer, and left nothing on his corporate severs. He kept his notes the old fashion way, by hand writing everything he could fly under the radar a little longer, using his computer he would throw out something small hoping someone would take the bait.
They've had to increase security in the building and at their homes, someone knew they had the files and they wanted them back. Sakura had started to receive packages and death threats again but now they were mailed to Naruto's house. He had them all, she had given him every letter and every package she still had, he was hoping whoever it was slipped up.
"Come in." He looked back to see his former mentor, "Kakashi."
"I have someone who is going to take a look at those letters." Sasuke handed over the bag, careful not to touch any of them, "I take it you haven't looked at them?
Sasuke shook his head, "They seemed to shake her up, I would like to do this with a level head as long as I can, plus the only prints that should be on there are hers and whoever sent them, I'm not sure if Naruto touched them or not."
"Knowing him he probably did." He chuckled, he trained both of them in self defense, and how to properly fire a gun. Naruto wanted to take a step further, so he and Kakashi trained and he helped Naruto pick his guys, he was the man behind the curtain and he liked it that way.
"He's still a bonehead." Sasuke looked at the mess on his desk, this was all too crazy to be real but as far as he could tell nothing had been faked, allt he answers they needed were right here.
"A bonehead in charge of your safety, I've noticed he's been staying later the last few days." Kakashi looked around the room, the view of the village was nice from this height, "HE's not leaving until you do, am I right?"
Sasuke nodded, "He waits for me to lock up my office and then he leaves."
Sasuke is leaving out the part that their are multiple alarms and camera's in his office now to protect the information they have.
Not long after Kakashi left with the letter he decided to call it a night, walking through the building and taking the elevator to the bottom floor, he spotted Naruto standing by his car waiting for Sasuke to get in his and drive off.
The waved, Naruto waited a few minutes before getting his car and driving off, he loosened his tie and ran a hand through his spikey blonde hair. They were both tired, he got here at the same time Sasuke did now. He use to be able to come in a few hours after Sasuke did but he didn't trust anyone with his best friends safety right now so that meant longer hours.
They were taking the day off tomorrow to recover, the last thing either of them wanted was to burn out. Naruto had to stay sharp, it wasn't just Sasuke's life in his hands anymore it was Sakura's too.
Once inside he kicked off his boots, and unbuttoned his shirt as he walked through the house and to his room. Sakura watched him stumble to his room, once she heard the shower turn off she waited a few minutes before knocking on the door with a bowl of food in her hands. She wanted to make sure he had eaten before he went to sleep.
"Sakura?" Naruto opened the door, his torso exposed since he was only in a pair of pajama pants, "Everything okay?"
She could tell he was on high alert just by how he looked around the hallway to see if there were any signs of danger, she nodded her head and handed him the bowl of food, "I just wanted to make sure you had dinner before you fall asleep, you didn't eat last night and I'm sure you skipped breakfast as well."
He didn't realize how much attention she gave him even when he wasn't giving any to him she still noticed that he had been skipping meals, he smiled and walked towards the kitchen, sat down and ate while she cleaned up. She made him one of his favorite meals, ramen. She had picked up a few tricks from working in the restaurant, she could cook, organize a complete train wreck, and she never complained.
"Is there anything you can't do?" She was flustered, she let out a noise she didn't even know she could make.
"I-I don't know?" He laughed at her visible confusion, he leaned into her as he placed his bowl in the sink, she could feel his breathe against her neck as he buried his face into her neck. Wrapping his arms around her, he held her for a moment. She held onto the counter afraid the room would start spinning if she let go.
Every time he touched her, even in the lightest ways, she felt butterflies. Her heart would race, her head would become fuzzy as he teased her or even looked in her direction, he knew the power he held over her and he used it to his advantage.
He spun her around with that goofy smile of his, he was about to lean in for a kiss when he shoved her to the floor, the window above the sink shattered, she let out a scream but he covered her mouth. He shielded her body with his, she could feel his heart racing, he slowly got up into a crouch and pulled her along with him, making it around the island he pushed he shot forward running down the hallway wile pulling her. Another shot rang through the air as the just cleared the the opening.
She held her scream by biting her cheek, an iron taste filled her mouth, they were in his room when the alarms went off. Locking his door he grabbed her and pushed her into his closet with the small door to his panic room was, she looked over her shoulder and realized he wasn't following her.
"Naruto?" She stumbled to her feet and opened the door, he was holding some type of rifle, tears fell from her eyes, she knew what he was about to do and shook her head, "You can't they'll kill you!"
Her voice cracked, a pain rose in his chest as he looked over at her, she was shaken and the last thing she needed was to see what was about to happen, pulling the strap over his head he walked into the closet with her, he grabbed her face and kissed her. He could feel her tears as they hit his cheek.
"I promise I will be right back, go in there and do not come out until I say so." He pushed her slowly through the closet, opening the door he pushed the hysterical girl in the room and shut the door.
He could hear her muffled cries through the thick walls, shaking his head he stood up and walked out slowly, turning all the lights off in the house gave him advantage, he knew his house like the back of his hand, he practiced walking through it at night to learn where everything was. He could hear a few voices coming from the kitchen, he needed them to come in a little more before he could take his first shot.
The first guy stepped into the hallway, and then another, using his scope he could see them perfectly in the dark, grinning as the sights lined up he took his first shot, and then his second.
Sakura could hear the muffed shots through the walls, he tucked her head in-between her knees, every fiber in her body was telling her to go out there and make sure he was okay and she was fighting for control, Naruto could be hurt, he could also be fine but he told her to stay here and she was going to listen.
"If I go out there, I will only be a burden, I will only get in the way." She tried to block everything out, but she couldn't.
She heard him yell out in pain, before she could think her body reacted, she dove for the door and pushed it open, grabbing a bat he had in the back of his closet she walked slowly through the walkin closet and opened the door, the rifle he had was thrown on the floor. She rounded the dresser, flipping on the light and catching the masked man by surprise she swung the bat as hard as she could knocking him off of Naruto.
Naruto recovered shoving her back into the closet while taking the bat from her, he swung as hard as he could at the mans knees, once he was down he hit him again knocking him out. Once everything was under control he walked back to the closet and looked at the girl who was still laying on the floor, her whole body was shaking.
"I told you to stay in the panic room." He leaned down and scooped her up, he walked out with the terrifed girl in his arms, and set her on the bed.
Taking a good look at him he was hurt, his eye was split back open, his torso was covered in small knife wounds, and his neck there was a big gash from where the man was trying to slit his throat.
"I'm fine." Sensing her panic, he patted her on the head.
"This is all my fault." the wall she had been trying to put up fell, "If I wasn't here you wouldn't be hurt, you wouldn't have strange men breaking into your house and trying to kill you."
Before he could stop her she bolted to her room and locked the door, he sighed pulling out his phone to call Sasuke.
"I have someone here who might be able to give us some answers." Naruto bound the man while dragging him through the house and throwing him into the truck of his car, Sasuke and a few other unidentified men walked through the house and began cleaning up the bodies and the messes they left behind.
"I think we should take a trip to the warehouse." Sasuke nodded, they watched as the bodies were being cleaned up, "I'll pay you back for the clean up."
"You sure made a big mess." a dark laugh left his lips, disappearing down the hallway he quickly changed, knocking on the door, he shot her a quick text before leaving. Little did he know she was already long gone.
