Author's Note
I do not own Kim Possible.
Shego stared into the car at the screen for a long moment. Possible wanted her help. Not Stoppable, or her nerd friend, or those crazy brothers of hers. Hers.
She looked at the cat.
The cat looked at her.
"Alright then," she said. "You, move over."
"Mreow," said the cat, because it was a cat.
Shego rolled her eyes and caught it around the middle, moving it to the passenger seat. It hissed crossly.
"Yada yada yada." Shego slid into the driver's seat. "Zip it."
The cat hissed, its tail puffing up, and- Did it try rolling its eyes at her? Trust Kimmie to find an annoying pet. Shego leant back in the seat. "Alright Princess. Shoot."
This could only be trouble. And she'd been doing so well. After the defeat of the Lorwardians, she had (reluctantly) been granted a pardon for her crimes, but given her reputation, there were few people willing to hire her. Hego had tried to sway her back to Team Go, welcoming her back to 'the side of goodness,' but she had turned that one down flat. There was a reason she bailed.
Drakken had barely made it a year before his 'grand return' to supervillainy, as he had called it, but…
Eh, this was a chance at a clean slate, and after the Lorwardians, a quiet life had been tempting. At least for a bit. Besides, Stoppable had had quite the glowup, and Kimmie could match her in that battlesuit. Perhaps it was best to quit while she was ahead.
Apparently break time was over.
The cat pressed a button on the dash. Shego growled and knocked its paw away. "No touching, Kitty."
The cat grumbled, flicking its tail and definitely wrinkled its nose at her. Where did Kimmie find this thing?
Kim's image came back to life on the screen. "Okay, so this is a little embarrassing, but here's the sitch. I was on a solo mission against Drakken, and he hit me with some kind of raygun. Long story short, I'm the cat."
Shego looked at the cat. "Kimmie?"
"Mreow," said the cat, and nodded.
Shego burst out laughing. "Oh, this is golden!"
"It's not funny," said the Kim on screen.
"No, no, no, you're right. It's hilarious."
Cat-Kim hissed.
"I can turn back for short periods of time, but it's… difficult, and hard to hold. Knowing your patience, I figured the recording was the best way to info-dump."
Made sense.
"I'm working on a fix with Wade and the tweebs, but in the meantime I need somewhere to lay low for a bit. If any of the villains found out about this…"
Shego winced. Possible was tougher than she looked, but ickle bitty kitty cats were considerably easier to flatten.
"Yeah. And the moment GJ found out about it…" Holo-Kim closed her eyes. "Let's just say they're very interested."
Green plasma glowed around her hands. "Oh, I'll bet they are."
Animal spies, or better, shapeshifting spies, would be something Global Justice would want their hands all over.
"My family's too… public, and I don't want to put Wade in the firing line."
Shego scowled. "So you decided to drag me into this? I'm retired."
"I know you're retired, but I really just need somewhere to hide for a bit. Please, Shego."
Shego sighed and rolled her eyes at the very pink roof. "Fine. But only because this is too good to give up." She reached down to adjust the seat. "First things first, I'm putting this tinker toy of yours in the garage. Then we can go inside and talk."
"Mreow," said Cat-Kim, and swished her tail.
The car glided forward over the sand. Shego pulled it around the side of the house to where her various vehicles were stored in the garage, mostly gathering dust and sand. She parked it by the jet and got out. "Come on then. Come in, I guess."
Cat-Kim hopped from the car and followed her into the villa. She had had it built using investment money years back, intending it as a hideaway should she ever need one. Apparently the person now needing one was her former nemesis.
Shego led her into the sitting room. "You said you could only change back for short periods, so I'm going to write out my questions for you and show you first, okay Princess?"
Cat-Kim nodded and hopped onto her sofa, looking around the room with sharp eyes. Shego picked up her notebook from the coffee table and began to write.
Three years ago she could never have sat in the same room as Kim Possible - yes, even when she looked like a cat - and not tried to fight her. She'd sworn to put those days behind her though.
At last she was finished and put the notebook down for Cat-Kim to see. She studied it for a long few minutes before nodding.
"Okay," Shego said. "Go."
The cat hunched in on itself and seemed to explode from her fur, long, willowy limbs appearing from the smaller feline ones. It was fascinating to watch, in a sickening kind of way.
A moment later, Kim Possible was hunched on her sofa, paler than in the recording, shaking violently, and stark naked.
"Damn," she said. "I knew there was something else I should have included in the recording."
