Chapter 27-His Story finale part
Three years later
Alan's P.O.V
Alan ducks under a swing from Ryan and punches him in the face. Ryan steps back and wipes the blood from his lip. "Enough," Rose says as she walks towards the ring. "Time to eat,"
"Yes, ma'am," Alan says as he puts his sword away. He looks around the village. It has been three years since he killed Dean and became the leader of the village and since they have had more people come to the village. People were happy in the village now, and they had more blacksmiths, healers, and warriors. "See you later," Alan says to Ryan, who nods as he walks away. Ryan has become his best friend and his right-hand man in the last few years. Alan walks to his house. He walks inside and sees Maddie playing with Chris, who is now four years old.
"Hey, Dad," Chris says.
"Hey, buddy," Alan says as he sits down. Rose sits across from him and looks at her mother and son.
"He's getting older and older," Rose says. Alan nods as he looks at the boy. He looks at Rose, who is staring at Chris.
"What are you thinking about?" Alan asks her.
"Are you still going to kill her?" Rose asks Alan. "Lexa. Are you still going to kill her?"
"I haven't thought about Lexa in a long time," Alan says. "My father's dead. I wish I could have been the one to kill him, but I can't. I haven't thought about going after Lexa in a while,"
"Is that a no?" Rose asks him.
"I don't know," Alan says. Rose nods as she stands up and goes to get the food. Alan looks at Chris and Maddie and starts to think about his sister. He knew Lexa was still alive and well as he had sent people to check in on her every few weeks. But he hadn't thought about killing her in at least a year. Rose sets a plate down by him, and Alan starts to eat his food. He grabs Rose's hand before she walks away. "I have everything I need right here. I won't go after Lexa unless I need to," Rose nods as she walks over to Maddie and Chris. Alan smiles as he stares at his family.
21 months later
Alan rides back into the village with Ryan beside him. They had been hunting for the past few days. They pull the deers off their horses and take them to their butcher Oliver. They give them to Oliver, who nods to him. "Another hunting trip over with," Ryan says to Alan, who nods.
"Yeah," Alan says. "I'm going to go check in on Rose, Chris, and Maddie," Ryan nods as Alan walks away. Alan walks up to his house and goes inside the house. He looks at Maddie, who is sitting at the table.
"Where are Rose and Chris?" Alan asks her.
"With Roy. Chris wanted to see how swords were made," Maddie tells Alan, who nods.
"I'm going to sleep. I won't be eating dinner tonight," Alan says to Maddie, who nods as he walks into his room. Alan closes his eyes and goes to sleep.
Night
Alan is awoken when someone starts pounding on the door. He gets out of bed and goes to the door. Alan opens the door and looks at one of his warriors named Lucas. "Alan, we are being attacked," Lucas says before an arrow goes through his neck. His eyes widen as he grabs his neck and falls to the ground. Alan grabs his sword.
"Stay inside," Alan says as he goes outside. He shuts the door as one of the attackers comes up to him and swings his sword at him. Alan blocks his sword swing and stabs the man in the neck. He goes down to Ryan, who was fighting two men. He stabs one in the back, and the other looks at him. Ryan stabs the man through the neck and watches him as he falls to the ground. "Where did they come from?"
"I don't know. One moment I'm sleeping, and the next, Hayden is at my door as these guys come into the village," Ryan says as he blocks a swing from another. Alan stabs him in the side as he steps back. Ryan then slits his throat. They see their warriors fighting the men, and then Alan hears a scream coming from his house. Alan pushes past Ryan and runs up to his house. He stabs a man through the back at the doorway and throws him to the ground. Alan looked in the house as one of the warriors knocked a sword out of Rose's hand.
Maddie swings at the man who moves and kicks Maddie in the leg. He hits Rose in the face with the hilt of his sword. Alan moved towards the man as he drove his sword through Maddie's back. "No!" Alan yells as he gets to the man. He shoves his sword through his chest and lets it go. The man falls to the ground as Alan bends down beside Rose. The man had pulled the sword out of Maddie's chest. Maddie stared up at him as blood came out of her chest and mouth. "Maddie. Stay alive, Maddie," Alan says as he holds her. Rose moves towards her mother and grabs her hand as Maddie takes her last breath and her body goes limp. Alan hears Rose let out a cry. He stares at Maddie's body, and it feels like his world has slowed down. He saw Chris run towards his mother. Alan stares at the body of the woman who had saved his life, raised him, and he would have died for. Alan hears footsteps behind him. He grabs the man's sword and points it at the door.
Ryan stood with the tip of the sword pressed against his chest. "Are they dead?" Alan asks him without looking at him.
"Yes," Ryan says as he looks at Maddie.
"Take their bodies to the woods. Leave that one," Alan says as he looks at the body of the man who killed Rose. Ryan nods as he leaves the house. Alan sat beside the body the entire night. He could hear people talking and Rose talking to Chris. As the sun came up, Alan stood up and walked over to the body of the man who killed Maddie. He starts to look at his armor and markings. Ryan walks into the house and looks at Alan.
"We should take her out and release her soul with the others," Ryan says.
"Take her," Alan tells Ryan, who nods. Another man comes into the house and helps Ryan carry Maddie out. Alan stared at the body for about an hour. Rose walked over to him and bent down.
"What are we going to do?" Rose asks him.
"What I should have done years ago," Alan says. "Fulfilling my destiny," Alan stands up and turns to leave.
"No," Rose says. "You said you wouldn't kill her,"
"I should have killed her years ago. I was weak, and I was hesitant, and I let what really mattered escape me. I am destined to be Commander. If I had killed Lexa, I could have protected her," Alan walks away from Rose, who stares after him. A few hours later, the village stood around the pyre as it burnt after Alan walked over to Ryan. "I want you to send a group to start to watch Lexa,"
"Why?" Ryan asks.
"I gave you an order. Follow it," Alan tells Ryan. Ryan nods as he walks away. Alan walked into Chris's room and saw his son sitting on his bed. "Come with me,"
"Where are we going?" Chris asks him.
"I am going to teach you how to fight," Alan says to Chris. "Now!" Alan yells to Chris, who stands up and follows him outside.
Three months later
Alan sat at the table inside his house. Over the last three months, he has learned everything he needed to know about Lexa. He had sent men to watch the hundred when they landed. He knew about the hundred. Tonight was the night he made his first move against Lexa. He knew about her relationship with Clarke, and he knew about her even though he didn't know where she was right now. Rose and Chris had gone to bed early. Alan walks outside and looks at Ryan, who stands in front of his men. "Let's go," Alan says as they leave the village and head for the first village that they were going to attack. Ryan walked beside Alan and looked at him.'
"Do we kill everybody, including the kids?" Ryan asks Alan.
"Lexa must know that she failed to protect her people. Everybody dies," Alan says. "Make sure to save a few for me to write my message," His men nod as they get close to the village. They wait until it gets closer to morning before they attack.
Thanks for reading. The chapter ended right before Alan first showed up in the story. That is Alan's story from the moment his father left him to die, and the moment we first saw him in this story. I want to talk about what happened to Maddie for a second. She was always going to die, and this was Alan's trigger, you could say. I would say that Alan loved Maddie more than he does Rose. She is the reason he is alive, and she died, and now he blames himself. But that is it for Alan's backstory. Next chapter, we get back to Clarke and the others. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
