"You get the e-mail?" The Crone said, stopping by the Mystic Mother's office. The name might have sounded insulting but The Crone was, well, a crone. An old, wizen woman, with a bent back and wrinkled splotching skin, and hardly any teeth in her mouth.
"From Skuld?" the Admin formerly known as Rita Repulsa said, turning in her chair just in time for the Crone to transform into The Smith. 'No wonder Planetos is so screwed up,' she thought. "Saw it but haven't been able to read it yet. I was working on trying to patch my Tommy Oliver's code." After the events with Drakkon the Mystic Mother was still trying to find a way to get baseline Tommy looping, as there was always the hope that maybe, one day, they could merge the original Power Rangers branch with the duplicate that had been created by The Crash. It should have been easy enough with Drakkon's persona basically now its own separate program only existing in Skull's alternate dimension branch, but she was still unable to get it to stabilize; the last time it had caused Jason and Zara to stand in a line for the entire loop.
"Need to do a massive reformat on a lot of the Branches so they can bring in new data that's been recovered," The Smith said gruffly before transforming into The Father. "A lot of loops are getting upgrades."
"I'd heard rumblings that I was getting a patch," Mystic Mother said. "Apparently there are a few new Ranger teams that are going to appear in the timeline."
"Jurassic Park is getting a few more years added to their branch. Same with the Arrowverse and Marvel branches. But you know what that means, right?" The Mystic Mother shook her head. "Massive fused loop. Have to shunt every Anchor and Looper into a near hub loop so we can work on their worlds."
"oh… that will be fun!" Mystic Mother said with delight. "Jason will enjoy that!"
"Send him some info so he knows what is going on," the Father who was now The Maiden said before leaving the Mystic Mother to her work…
Loop 57
"Jace man…" Zack said softly, staring up in wonder, "I can get used to a lot of things but this-"
"Hey man, I'm not used to this either and I've been looping for a lot longer than you!"
When all of them had gotten the message from their Admin about the upcoming Loop they'd all discussed what it might be like. Nothing though had prepared them for the sights that had greeted the Rangers as they'd crested the hill from their meet up place.
First had been the fact at just all who'd joined them. Jason, Trini, and Zara had been pleasantly surprised to see Jen there, and the Time Force Ranger had introduced them to her husband Wes and his father. Zack had been more shocked by Skull from the alternate reality but quickly accepted it; for his part Skull had greeted Jason like he was a long lost brother.
Once introductions had been made the group had decided to make their way towards the dull roar they were hearing in the distance, figuring they should check out what the fused loop would be like. The Mystic Mother had been sparse of details but made clear they would have a blast. They'd climbed up a small hill, Jason spotting a bunch of other meet up places near theirs where other Loopers and Anchors were appearing, only to stop dead in their tracks at the land before them.
It seemed to go on forever. A massive field under a brilliant blue sky that was at once nice and sunny without being oppressively hot. The field though was far from empty… in fact 'empty' was the last word they'd ever use for it. For as far as Jason and the others could see there were different booths and stalls and buildings and towers set up. A giant teaming city that reached from there to forever, made up of all manner of buildings and structures. Jason spotted just near them a massive hotel called the Mobius Inn, a huge skyscraper with a sign that said 'Lux', an English estate, and a Kwik-E-Mart. And those were just the noticeable ones; there were all manner of other buildings, many of them with stalls like a farmer's market placed in front of them. The land wasn't the only place filled either. In the sky above them were ships of every design and type and buzzing around them were beings that could fly through a thousand different means.
And then there we all those milling about the strange and magical and wondrous city. Humans, of course, but also animals that acted like humans and animals who stood and dressed like humans and humans that looked to have been mutated into animals. Robots too. And aliens. Monsters. Ghosts (Jason wasn't sure how that worked). CGI characters and animated characters. Giants that towered over everyone and little beings that scrambled about pointing at this and that.
"So… what exactly is going on in this loop?" Zack asked in confusion.
Jason, spotting a structure he remembered only thanks to pictures he'd been shown, smiled and motioned for the others to follow him. "I know who to ask…"
~MC~MC~MC~
"Watch the stall for a bit, okay?"
"Keh," the white haired young man said, folding his hands into his firerat robe sleeves, nose stuck in the air.
The young woman in a school girl's uniform merely rolled her eyes before glancing at a woman wearing black body armor. "Sango, make sure he gets some good trades and doesn't just get food and weapons."
"Right," Sango said as Kagome hurried over to Jason and gave him a hug.
"Long time no see!" she said with a smile, finally letting him go. "I see you got some people looping with you."
"Yeah. Not the entire team but a good group." Jason turned to the other rangers. "Guys, this is Kagome. She was the second Anchor to teach me all about looping."
"So we either thank you or curse you," Trini said with a smirk.
"So you loop with Jace?" Zack asked. "That mean you…"
"Blue in my loop," Kagome told her with a grin, causing Skull to hold up his hand and get a high five because while his coin was Purple now it had originally been Blue merged with Red. "I replaced Billy. Though if you want to get technical I was the Blue Mighty Morphin', Thunder, Ninja, and Zeo." She looked at Jason. "Where are you at right now?"
Jason grinned and took out his morpher. "It's Morphin' time! Legacy Tyrannosaurus!" His Legacy Red armor formed around him.
"You figured out merged powers!" Kagome said, excited.
"Yup!" he said, popping the 'p'. "This is Mighty Morphin', Thunder, Ninja, Zeo, and Time Force Red, along with Zeo Gold… two Zeo crystals really give me a boost." While he didn't go around telling the other loopers about it only Zara could honestly match him in a fight; if Jason went MLE they'd have no chance of even scratching him. Someone from another branch? Oh, they'd put him down, especially Kagome or Harry, but in his branch no one could match him."I also have the Green Mighty Morphin', the Yellow Mighty Morphin'/Thunder/Ninja/Zeo, the Pink Mighty Morphin'/Thunder/Ninja/Zeo, and Power Mountie."
Kagome blinked at that last one. "Do I-"
"Dudley Do Right," Jason replied.
"Ah."
"That one was interesting," Zara said dryly. "I was a moose." She held out her hand. "Zara Zoltar. Jason's co-anchor and formerly his Tyrannozord. Now the Legacy Crimson Ranger… Red and White Mighty Morphin', Red Thunder/Ninja/Zeo/Time Force." Kagome gave her a roll of her hands and Zara morphed into her own altered ranger outfit.
Seeing this was going to be a thing Trini smiled and morphed before shaking Kagome's hand. "Trini. Just a looper. Mighty/Thunder/Ninja/Zeo/Time Force Yellow Legacy."
"Two reds and a yellow?" Kagome asked.
"Time Force has several groups functioning at once… colors are a rank," Jen said as she morphed into a dark Pink version of her armor with elements of white. "Legacy Rose."
"Hey!" Jason said, it now his turn to get excited. "You merged!"
"Mr. Collins helped me figure it out but yeah."
Wes, who had been quiet through most of this, folded his arms over his chest and huffed. "I helped."
"He brought snacks," Mr. Collins teased.
Jen ticked off her powers. "Time Force Pink, Red, and Quantum, Jungle Force White, and Zeo Pink… thanks for leaving me that one to pick up, Trini."
"Glad you were able to grab it!"
Wes was the next one, morphing into his standard Time Force Red armor. "Just Red Time Force… though I do have pink and Quantum as well."
Skull, with a smugness that he'd mostly lost through his loops due to all the trauma of Drakkon, puffed out his chest before morphing into his form, which resembled the Red Sentry but purple and black design and a wolf-like motif for the helmet. "Legacy Purple Ranger. Mighty Morphin' Blue and Red, Zeo Red-"
"Nice," Zack said, giving him a high five.
"-and SPD Captain armor. That's where the wolf came from… I replaced Captain Krouger and led SPD. Legacy turned it into a direwolf."
Zack let out a dry laugh as he morphed. "Well, Wes isn't the only one feeling rather underdressed. Black Mighty Morphin'/Thunder/Ninja and green Zeo though I haven't merged any powers yet."
"Hey, at least we can feel superior to my dad," Wes said with a laugh… only for the chuckle to die in his throat as his father pulled out the Quantum Morpher and shifted into a variation of the Quantum ranger with SPD Riot Gear Armor.
"That will never get old," Albert Collins said as he removed his helmet.
"How… how did you-"
"Bonding time between me and your wife," Albert said, Jen beaming as she remembered how much fun her last loop had been with Mr. Collins looping but Wes unawake.
"Well… we can be superior to… that guy!" Wes said, pointing randomly at Miroku… only for the priest to pull out a Ninja Storm morpher and morph into a Thunder Navy Ranger. "Oh come on!"
"Actually all my friends end up as Blue Rangers for some reason," Kagome said with a shrug only to grab Jason's hand when he went to dimorph. "Just take off the helmet."
"Uh… why?"
"Because people will recognize you guys as Rangers and that will help with getting attention and making deals."
Zack frowned as he popped off his helmet and stored it in his subspace pocket. "Deals?"
"We're still not sure what is going on here," Trini admitted.
Kagome grinned. "Oh! This is the best!" She was practically vibrating with excitement as she pulled Jason away from her shrine and towards the road that led deeper into the patchwork city/village/cultural exchange. "So this is a massive fused loop that is taking place on neutral ground. That means that we don't need to worry about baseline distractions or the like. Usually they do that when they discover new data to put into the loops." Her face twisted slightly. "I know I'm getting more time for my loops…"
"Us too but its more that more teams are most likely getting added," Jason commented. "The Mystic Mother told me there are at least 2 new teams popping up, meaning we are getting 4 more years from my perspective added."
"And we're able to go to more points in history," Jen added.
Kagome nodded, waving that off. "That doesn't matter. This loop has a ton of loopers and anchors all together, meaning that you're going to find four different things happening." She pointed to her right. "That's the party district. A ton of loopers are pulling out their subpocketed bars and restaurants and setting up shop. A lot of drinking, a lot of meals, a lot of parties."
"So I can pull out the party yacht later," Jason said, rubbing his chin, the others tilting their heads in confusion at that.
"Next you have Mobius Hotel," Kagome said, pointing towards the huge hotel to their left. "That is run by Roxanne Hammond, the T-Rex from Jurassic Park. It is a place to relax and just have a vacation. Other loopers build amusement parks and arcades and such so that's where you go if you aren't interested in food and drinks."
"A hotel run by a T-Rex?" Wes asked.
"Is that a problem?" Zara asked, briefly shifting into her zord form before returning to her semi-morphed form.
"…no ma'am," Wes squeaked.
"That would be neat," Zack said, wrapping an arm around Trini's middle. "A second honeymoon?"
"Yeah."
Albert looked at Jen. "People can pocket buildings?"
"Oh yeah. I have an entire Time Force HQ in my pocket, along with the clock tower. Time Force has shrinking tech that makes it real easy. Similar to what we use on mutants." Wes nodded and Albert began to think about figuring out how to pocket the mansion.
Twisting slightly Kagome pointed far north of them, where the rangers could make out spot lights spinning in the sky. "If you are looking for more action we have the coliseums and arenas. Different sports and tournaments… and flat out chaos battles." There was an explosion and the rangers looked up to see Luke Skywalker's X Wing scream by, firing on the Aerialbots. "There is a forcefield to keep them from spreading out though."
Jason shook his head. "Maybe I'll try a martial arts tournament but I'm not really interest in fighting any wars."
Kagome waved him off. "Which is why I suggest you focus on what I love about these massive fused loops!" She waved her hands towards the very center of the city. "The Flea Market."
"A… flea market?" Albert said, confused.
Zack spoke up. "That's where people set out a ton of stuff they own and sell it… kind of like a garage sale but a lot of people are involved-"
"I know what a flea market is," Albert said, to the surprise of everyone… even Wes. "I wasn't born to a rich family. I had to make my wealth. When I was a teenager I would scavenge parts in the scrap yard and sell them at the farmer's market on the weekends." He shrugged. "I was more surprised that Loopers would even have such a thing. I mean… can't you just get all you need in your loops? Every time I'm awake I empty my bank account right before the loop ends…"
Kagome, seeing what he was getting at, smiled and chuckled. "Oh, this isn't about buying furniture or used clothes-"
"Yes it is!" Inuyasha called out.
"No it's not."
"Yes… it is," the hanyou declared, walking over and pulling from his subspace pocket… a rack of clothes. At closer look they were variations of his firerat robes. Some just like the one he was wearing, others in different colors. All the colors of the rainbow, actually. "These robes are made from the fur of the fire rat." He tugged at the red ones. "They instantly resize to fit the wearer, are stronger than any unenchanted human-made armor, are completely fire and heat proof, and regenerate." He selected a blue one. "These are the same except ice and cold." Yellow was next. "Lightning." The rangers stared at them, impressed. "And they are all for sale."
Albert rubbed his chin. "I suppose if I could find a way to make that into a suit…" he pointed to a black one.
"We sell miko-enchanced sewing machines that can do that," Kagome answered with a grin.
Wes though held up his hand, stopping his dad before he could beginbargaining. "How do you expect to pay for this though? I doubt our money will work in their world. Is there, like, exchange counters for money?"
"At the Gringotts bank," Sango called out. "But the exchange rates are killer."
The others were confused by that but Jason nodded his head in agreement. "Yeah, those goblins are crafty… and I only dealt with them when they weren't looping."
"It doesn't seem that nice to make fun of bankers or call them names," Trini said.
MIroku though shook his head. "No… they ARE goblins." Trini looked over at Jason who nodded.
"Which is why," Inuyasha said with a huff, "most loopers do bartering. You give us something that you've collected from your loops… rare or interesting or just something useful… that you feel is worth the item."
Albert considered that before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a Nintendo 64. "This is something Jen and I came up with a few loops back. Using tech from the year 3000 it is able to play any video game created up to that year and, based on the fused loop she had, can instantly scan and adapt to any tech in your world."
"…that'll work," Inuyasha said, grabbing the gaming system. "Kagome's mom will get to work on the suit… should have it done in a few days." He handed Albert a claim ticket.
"Huh," Jason said, rubbing his chin. "That does seem like fun."
Kagome grinned, bobbing her head. "Even if you can't cut a deal it is just neat to see what people gather up during their travels."
"Just keep in mind that while some things sound exciting… they aren't as special as getting them yourself," Sango stated with a small, sad smile, one that spoke of past mistakes. "You guys have Star Wars in your universe?" All of them nodded; something odd with their reality, Jason had learned from his fused loops, was that their cultural heritage seemed to be frozen in the mid 90s. But luckily the older stuff did exist, such as Star Wars.
Thus all of their jaws dropped when Sango pulled out a lightsaber.
"Now, this might seem really cool but… it won't ever feel as nice as one you make yourself." She passed it around before tossing it back into her pocket… and pulling out a double bladed lightsaber with a purple blade. Even though they'd only seen it that moment all the Rangers knew that it was just RIGHT for Sango to hold it.
"So it's like my wand," Jason said, pulling out his Ollivander wand. "I can use another one but this one is mine."
"Or the morphers," Jen said. "I can use any one but ones where I was the first person to bond with it…"
"Exactly," Sango said. "Just be smart when it comes to making trades. Don't give away the whole town for something that will lose its appeal after a few hundred loops."
"Point taken," Jason said.
Kagome smiled. "That's honestly while many loopers go for supplies, things they can't easily get in their base loops, or things to help with hobbies."
The rangers all nodded before huddling up. "Alright, so we hit the swap meet/flea market first?" Trini asked.
"Sounds good to me," Jen said. "Supply hunting and then souvenirs and goodies."
"We're getting stuff for the gang, right?" Wes asked. "I mean… Trip and Lucas and Katie and Eric will begin looping eventually so it would be nice to have some presents for them…"
Jen grinned and kissed Wes on the cheek. "I love it! Find some stuff that is nice and practical for them… maybe some workout gear for Katie and a race car for Lucas-"
"Want to come?" Jason called out to Kagome as Wes and Jen plotted, Albert throwing out his own suggestions (he and Trip had become real close last loop he'd been awake in).
The miko nodded and pulled out the Blue morpher from her loop with Jason, morphing into the Blue Zeo ranger before removing her helmet. "Inuyasha, guard the stall!"
"Hey! Wench! Don't you leave me here-" Inuyasha complained only for Kagome to smirk.
"Sit."
"OW!" Inuyasha cried out before barking, "SIT!"
Kagome splatted to the ground, Jason cocking an eyebrow. "Ugh… we did a loop a bit ago where we swapped roles… and he got Miroku to enchant my necklace to appear on me whenever I restarted a loop. Forgot about that. Ugh." She pulled herself up as Inuyasha did the same. "I'll bring you back food!"
"…keh, fine!"
The Miko grinned and waved goodbye to her husband before heading out with the rangers, Jason pulling out the phone he'd gotten from Harry. "Hey man… you're at the fused loop, right? Want to have a bit of a Ranger reunion…"
~MC~MC~MC~
Harry grinned as he ended the call before calling forth his pocketed Green Ranger morpher, doing a quick morph before also pulling out the Flying Nimbus he'd kept from his last Dragon Ball Loop. "Ginny, I'm going to hang out with Jason Scott! Let me know if you need anything!"
"Get new restraints… I've thought of new ways to torture Rita Skeeter for tricking our Admin into making that Cursed Child loop."
~MC~MC~MC~
Skull suddenly stopped, a frown on his face. "Wait a minute… if all loopers and anchors are here, does that mean Drakkon-"
His phone chimed and Skull quickly pulled it out, a bemused look crossing his features before he began to laugh.
"What is it?" Zara asked.
"Our Admin sent a message… seems like she has it handled…"
~MC~MC~MC~
"Wha… what?" Lord Drakkon growned, rubbing his head. "What is-"
He looked around and realized several things.
He was completely naked
He had no morpher
He was surrounded by 14 foot tall Amazon women
He had a sign on his neck that read 'Me Good For Snu-Snu
"Oh hell," Drakkon muttered right before a club struck him in the head.
