Daenerys walked with the confidence of a dragon with her brother leading the way. In her hands was a box filled with three dragon eggs that she was excited to hatch, yes she would end slavery in Astapor, but she would also gain powerful allies in her dragons. With two huge dragons on her side, there was no one that could stop her from ensuring the Targaryens became rulers of Westeros.Yes the sacrifice was a high one but the people she wanted to offer in exchange of her dragons were bad people, people who enjoyed enslaving others. She felt sadness not for their impending deaths but for the fact that after this single act, the old Dany will be gone and a new one will be reborn from the ashes."You don't have to do this, sis" Viserys said with a pointed look at her as they walked down the hallway led by Missy, her full name was a mouth full."This... This has to happen, we have no other choice brother. If we don't do this, we will forever remain like the rest of the people, ordinary. With the dragons we will take back our throne." She said firmly to which he nodded before they finally arrived at the door."They are inside." Missy said standing back to watch them with those intelligent eyes of hers, she had no doubt that the girl had heard them and was probably in support of what they wanted to do.With a nod, the Targaryens entered the room, with the interpreter not too far behind, and saw that it was filled with all the Good Masters of Astapor. Daenerys noted they all had eyes for the chest she had in her hands and bit back her smirk, they had no idea what was coming, they had no idea that their greed for her dragons would be the reason for their demise."I am glad you all heeded my request." Viserys said and his words were interpreted."We are here to discuss a way to expand our business and power beyond the shores of Astapor. With their help, we will be the new Lords of Westeros and the world." The Good Master, they'd spoken to previously, said to his fellows."Yes, and all you need to do is offer your men for this endeavour. Once you have, we will leave a dragon here in good faith as we journey to Meereen and Yunkai for their men. Once successful we will all move West, taking very kingdom we come across until we have the most of Essoss and then we take Westeros." Viserys said with confidence. For the past two days, she and her brother had been debating on which plan was best and as he had just told the men, that was what they would do. This was to ensure the freed kingdoms never returned to slavery, and as they had agreed, one of them would rule Essos the other Westeros. They would do what no other Targaryen, not even Aegon Targaryen and his sister wives, had succeeded in doing. She could see the greedy and excited eyes of the Master and his another smirk. Time for the next step."Here in my sister's hands are tgreed dragon eggs that would hatch today, I will grant you the rare honour of watching them hatch and would give one of them to you as insurance." Viserys then nodded to her and with a meek smile, she placed the chest on the table and opened it. In it were the three eggs already dry from the blood they had fed it. "Bring a torch here sis."Daenerys went to one of the standing empty torches and gave Viserts who requested for a flint. "Gentlemen, when they receive fire, they hatch. Don't worry, no harm that you imagine will come to you." He said and lit the torch before with a smirk, torched the eggs.It was instantaneous, the eggs lit and the chest shortly after, the dry table it sat upon also caught fire and like a living thing, the flame moved and spread around the room. Daenerys looked at Viserys who like her felt no pain when the fire licked them and engulfed them.Moments later, the room was filled with smoke and dead bodies as well as three newly hatched dragons. She smirked a big one as two sat on her naked shoulders and one on Viserys'. Turning to the door, she saw it open slowly to reveal Missy who looked shit scared at the scene.
Daenerys opened her eyes at the memory before she looked at Missy who had a worried look on her face. "What is it?"
"It's Viserys, he has a visitor who has brought him news he believes you have to hear." Her loyal handmaiden who had followed her through the exhausting one month, said.
For a month they had done a handful if conquering. Meereen and Yunkai had fallen very easily after the mercenary leader they hired turned against them and also when the slave warriors revolted against their masters. The battle had been far from easy and the moment they had taken over, all masters and their family had been killed by fire, the Targaryen way, as Viserys said.
There was peace, all slaves now had homes and good jobs, development was happening, though slower because of all the uneducated people who all had to do a crash learning all their chosen field. Now they were in the Dothraki capital to recruit Khal Drogo who had managed to unite the entire Dothraki under him. Once they had him, their already 70,000 men journeying with them would have about 50,000 to 60,000 men added.
Their growing empire was safe from the Masters seeing as all were killed and their Emperor, Viserys Targaryen, had left enough men behind to disabuse anyone of taking his Empire back.
Daenerys was quick to get dressed after a clean up and went to see her brother in the room she was called to.
"What is it brother?" She asked as she entered the room to see the Khal of Khals sitting on his makeshift throne with her brother by his side and a knight before them.
"We have a visitor from Westeros who brings us good tidings." Viserys said to her, eyes on the man.
Daenerys kept walking till she stood beside her brother to see the knight. The knight looked rough, sorta handsome, but a bit old looking. "What news do you have?"
"The Seven Kingdoms my Queen is at war with each other."
"What do you mean, at war?"
"The King is dead and his son now rules. Lord Eddard Stark is also dead, killed for trying to kill the king. After these events, war broke out and it is still on. Now is the time to strike while they are fighting each other." The Knight said.
"Do not presume to five us orders, Ser Knight. We will act when best not when you say so."
"What of I tell you that there is a Targaryen in Westeros?"
This was a surprise. Tywin Lannister was receiving letters from his imp of a son, letters that brought nothing happy. There was a Targaryen in Westeros. This was impossible seeing as Rhaeger's children were killed and Rhaella's children were half way across the world. There was no way a Targaryen could still be in Westeros, unless if said Targaryen was jep in secret. The question was how. With a frown, he stois up from his chair and began to approach a bowl of fruit he had by the window he stood when he wanted to think. Taking a fruit, he stared into the distance and began to device means of protecting his legacy from this Targaryen. It would be folly to believe the Targaryen wouldn't try to usurp his grandson or good son, therefore strong alliances were required.Turning back to his desk, he brought out the map of Westeros and looked at it just as the first Targaryen King had looked at the map of the Seven Kingdoms and began to plot. The Starks would not go against Robert, but if that could happen he needed a safe guard. He needed a family greedy enough to want the North and hold him in one hand until the Starks did something stupid. Then there was the Stormlands, Renly may not be a warrior but he was charismatic and smart, a recipe for a dangerous enemy, so he had to be removes or brought under the Lion's Claws, probably a threat to reveal his dirty deeds with a certain Tyrell. That would kill two birds with a stone, the Tyrells would be held in place as will Reply, both fearing the comeuppance of the truth getting out. Then there was Stannis, taking his daughter as his ward would be a way, or giving one of his nephews to the girl... Now that was better. The Tyrels could still he a problem so betrothing Margery to Joffery after the Starks are put down would be a wise move. River run could be given to the Freys and Tyrion as well, this would secure the Neck in case the Stark replacement became overzealous. The Vale would have Myrcella and Dorne would receive the fury of Tywin Lannister should they dare revolt.
Tywin kept his face steady and his posture unreadable as the Royal Family returned. Letters had been sent and all had obeyed his will, he had the Bolton's who he'd promised the Elder Stark girl to the son as a bride. Said son who was a bastard but would become a legitimized one by the end of the day.
As the horses and carriages entered the courtyard, there were praise given by the smallfolk at the sight of their King returning safe and sound from the Stark Conspiracy, the one thing Tywin had not seen coming, but capitalized on. With the Starks gone, Roose Bolton had received some gold to buy some other Lords who would be revolting against Robb Stark. By dawn every rebel will be stamped down, once Lord Frey finally stood up from his chair and done something to the Tullys.
"Welcome to King's Landing your Grace, we have much to discuss." Tywin said, the Hand of the King looking impressive on his chest. Something he'd received from his grandson the day after he did something stupid, but great at the same time.
Tyrion Lannister had begun his day on a bad note. He had been hungover from the drinks he had drunk with his brother Jaime who looked so miserable he wanted to weep for him. Apparently his sister had been staying away from doing any thing intimate with Jaime. Tyrion was overjoyed of course but he his it in favour of sympathising with the Kingsguard. His headache morning became worse when he heard the news, the king was dead. That made Tyrion gulp a mug of water and hurriedly get cleaned up and dressed. They had to do something right now, like flee Winterfell before the Starks chose to punish Joffery for almost raping Sansa. With a mad haste, he fled his room and rushed to where Joffery and his mother were and barged in without knocking."We have to leave." Tyrion said looking at mother and son before looking at Jaime who looked better than he did."What's the hurry, I'm the king now, I can leave whenever I want." Joffery said as he trued to hide the slight fear he felt."In an ideal world, but have you forgotten your history so soon Nephew, before Aery went mad he was taken hostage by his bannermen." Tyrion said."I need to speak with Ned Stark before I leave." The stupid boy said."What for?" Tyrion asked, the Lord Paramount could use this opportunity to dole out his own punishment for almost raping Sansa."I don't answer to you Uncle." He replied just as Sansa was brought in. The moment she saw Joffery she became scared and began to baskstep even when she was held tightly by Boros. Where was the Hound?"Sansa here has told me that her father plans to do something very nefarious to me, I plan to clear the air on it." Joffery said.Tyrion raised both brows and looked at Sansa who was shaking her head and weeping, huh. Why in the whole Seven Kingdoms would she do that? To butter up toward the new king? Or was this some weird desire of hers to be with her almost rapist. Or was Joffery being cunning dick right about now? Was he using her to justify what he wanted to do, in the process ruining the girl's image? Before he could reply, Eddard entered the room with his wife and half a dozen men. "You wanted to see me?" Ned asked looking at his daughter then Joffery."Yes. You see your daughter here told me something, she said that you plan to usurp me and place your bastard son as king with my sister as his queen." Joffery said and the slight twitch in Eddard's eyes told Tyrion the boy had been spot on."I have no idea what you're talking about." Eddard said."I'm talking about this!" Joffery said bringing out a letter which he gave Tyrion. The writing was elegant as a Lord's and the words were very damning. Whether Robert wished this or not, Ned would never be believed. No one would believe that a father would deny his son what he has, even if the mouth piece was Ned Stark.Giving the letter to Ser Barristan who read it to everyone's ears, he turned to look at Joffery with one question in mind... How?Immediately, chaos broke out, Eddard attacked Joffery, yelling something about making him pay for almost raping his daughter and also to defence himself, since Joffery would never let Ned live. The man fought like a demon possessed, killing three Royal Guards in moments, only Jaime's intervention gave him pause.Ned struck and slashed and defended, battling the Lannister in a way only Ser Barristan ever could, mayhaps the rumours were true and that Ned had indeed killed Arthur Dayne. Soon Jaime was on the defensive which led to Ser Barristan been forced to fight Ned as well. Facing Jaime was easier, but facing Barristan as well, made Ned outmatched.Several slashes and he was still fighting, yelling for Robert, yelling for justice and the North. He was like a true Wolf. Looking at his sister, he saw only pity, however hidden it was, Joffery had fear and Sansa was screaming. Catelyn was forced to stand still and watch the two great swordsmen cut down her husband, once Ned was on his knees surrounded by his dead guards, the Stark children came in.Joffery had declared war without thinking, hopefully, his father was already working on how to handle the bad situation.
Looking at his father, he saw that he probably already had a plan on motion. Without too much speech, they were already in the Tower of the Hand. His father looked calm as if nothing was wrong before he began to address his family.
"What his Grace did was stupid, however I have been able to use it to our advantage. By dawn we will have nothing to fear from the North, however we need to establish our reign. Tyrion will wed a Frey of his choosing, Cersei will wed Euron Greyjoy, Myrcella will wed Lysa's boy, Tommen will wed a Westerlander, Lancel will wed Shireen, and Joffery will wed Margery Tyrell. Any questions?"
Tyrion held his breath at the words that fell off his father's mouth, what the hell was happening here? A month ago they were fucked, but now it seemed gos father had done something to unfuck them.
"Why Euron?" Cersei asked.
"Well, I plan to bring Dorne into the fold." Tywin said. "Once the North, East and West are on our side firmly, then I will go South to bring those Dornish to heel."
Fuck, they were officially at War.
Catelyn Stark was still speechless, a very happy event had become a nightmare in moments. She had been so angry about the bastard, but faced with this... all she wanted was her family back together, even the Snow. Someone with his skills would have defended her husband and protected their family, but all she had seen him as was as a problem, a threat to her son.
Her daughter had betrayed them, and her other daughter was gone, her son was now plotting war against the Iron Throne and her other sons, one with her the other with Jon. She had no idea where Jon was or where Bran was, but Robb had assured her all was well. Her job right now was to go to Riverrun and secure passage for Robb's army. It was not that difficult, but it was of high importance to the war. As her son said, anything could happen between now and the next day.
Getting up from her bed, she went to get cleaned up and began to get dressed for the meeting with Lord Frey. She hated the old man, but he was a necessary evil to the war. She knew he would want something, that was why she brought Rickon, if she promised Rickon would marry a Frey, perhaps the Lord Frey would be willing to let them pass. In a time when the Tullys and Starks were at the peak of their strength, the Freys would have been punished for insubordination, now, they would be rewarded.
Seven hells!
Walking into the throne room was a short journey and soon she stood before Lord Frey. Her father who had welcomed her with a sad sigh sat beside her and her brother stood at the other side of their father.
"Have you thought on our meeting yesterday my lord?"
"About becoming a rebel to the rightful king? Yes I have" Lord Frey said with a strange look directed at her father.
"And your decision is...?"
"I need some incentive my lady, something to really make me rebel against the Iron Throne." He replied.
"We are your leige, when we say open the passage, you obey." Edmure said.
"But I fear for the King's Wrath. If he could kill Lord Stark in his own home... I fear what he could do to me."
"What is it you want?" Catelyn asked.
Lord Frey then smirked at her. "The Seat of Riverrun."
Before Catelyn could deliberate on his words, swords were unsheathed and her family guards turned around to face her family with spears pointed at them. The few Frey also surrounded her family and all Catelyn could do was stare with an open mouth. "What..."
"Tywin Lannister sends his regards." Lord Frey said.
Then she was stabbed by a guard and knew no more.
Ramsay Snow sighed deeply as he looked at the letter from his father. His father was offering him something no one else would've been able to, that is before he met Jaehaerys Targaryen. His father was offering him legitimacy and a bride with the promise to rule over the North one day. The Ramsay of old would've jumped at the idea of having this much power, but now that he had served a worthy King, there was no way he would betray him.
"You promised me that I would serve a worthy King, but then you say he's gone on some adventure, I don't know if you are simply playing with me or if you fucker are for real." The Hound said as he dropped his mug of ale to glare into the smirking face of Ramsay.
"You'll get to serve the rightful King Jaehaerys very soon. You see there is a situation that just came up and apparently war is about to break out once more in these hallways. Are you interested in protecting the King's cousin?" Ramsay asked as he stood up from his seat to stare into Sandor Clegane's eyes. "What do you say, ready to bloody your sword?"
"Do you have to ask?" Sandor asked, finished his ale before he got up to tower over him. "When do you need my sword?"
Ramsay smirked before he looked at the letter that said half of the Lords were going to revolt against Robb in the meeting, and then looked at Sandor. "How about this morning?"
The castle was in a frenzy, all the servants where running around trying to ensure everything they did was in perfect condition. Ever since Jon had left with Bran and their Lord Eddard had been killed, Ramsay had been very careful of everything he said and did. He had no idea how Joffery had found out about about the letter Robb had told him about, a note he had written down when Robb had said the words as he had remembered. For all Ramsay knew, Joffery must've placed a spy in Winterfell, a spy who was probably watching him as he walked.
Ramsay had to hide his shiver at being watched by a Lannister spy knowing fully well that such spy could also be working for his father now that the Boltons and Lannisters were in accord. Greeting Sandor goodbye, he snuck through the hallways and went through numerous paths until he arrives at the crypt from the end of it. Ramsay ignored a torch and instead walked through the pitch black crypt until finally he saw Robb looking into the lifeless eyes of Eddard's sculpture.
"I wish I had known before hand my lord." Ramsay said as he approached the silently weeping lord. "You all would have been prepared."
Robb sniffed before he breathed out and wiped his eyes. "No use crying over spilled milk. You know of all the lords that would be arriving very soon, which of them would be a problem?"
"Half of them my Lord, they are spearheaded by my very own sire." Ramsay said. "Not to worry I have Sandor ready to kill at a moment's notice, also many of the servants have poisons and knives ready should any Lord fail to help you and your Grace." Ramsay said.
Robb nodded his head before he looked at his Grace's Mother. "Promise me you won't stop until Jon sits on the Iron Throne." Robb said. Ramsay could hear the silent in case I failed in his words.
Ramsay nodded gravely at his words. "I promise."
Time to prepare for war.
Roose Bolton was a man of opportunity. Very chance he got, he took it to further his family's greatness, after all the Boltons were once known as The Red Kings. Royalty was in his blood and he would be damned if he didn't take any possibility to return to such a status, even if he would have to settle for Lord Paramount of the North.
When Tywin Lannister had reached out to him concerning rebelling against the Starks, he had instantly hopped in that horse; the chance to avenge his ancestors had finally come and he would be damned if he didn't take it. Then came the coins through spies that Roose had no idea were in the North, spies that delivered lots of gold, enough to bribe many of the Lords he had around him. Rumours of a Targaryen showing some Lords the resources they had were just that, rumours. Everyone knew that the North was nothing but a barren wasteland.
Reaching out to Ramsay to organise some of the servants willing to kill for money had been easier than he'd earlier thought since he was often seen chatting with Robb Stark before Eddard's death.
Eddard's death was a sad thing for the people in the North, many Lords even feared what would happen to them if even the Lord Paramount could be killed in his own home! Goose on the other hand was unbothered, him dying just meant there was one less Lord to kill in his ascent to Lord Paramountcy.
Walking into the very halls Eddard had died was a thing of joy for Roose, like a sort of good omen for him. If Ned could be killed here, so could his own son. The men he had brought solely for assassinations were already posted around the hallways and from the look of the servants in the halls, they were all ready to do his will.
The meeting room was already filled with the Lords of the North, all looking very agitated over the death of their Leige Lord in his own home, although those on his side were simply pretending. Sitting down on his chair, he looked Robb Stark in the eyes with his unemotional ones. Robb looked back at him and all Roose could see was vengeance, he was probably so angry he felt he could take on the entire South and win.
"We all know why I called for you all but if you are not certain as to why; I called you here for us to decide how we are going to make the Lannisters pay for what they did to my father, your Leige Lord." Robb began in a strong voice, looking everyone in the eyes.
"I heard he was killed because he was a traitor." Rickard Karstark said with a grave voice, as if worried the rumours might be true.
"Tat is a lie, he was killed simply because Joffery believed my father could end his reign because of a certain fact." Robb said.
"What fact?" Lord Umber asked.
"His mother had been disavowed." Robb said to the gasp of the Lords, even those who had been bought by him now looked uncomfortable even Roose was a bit worried. If Joffery was ruling as a Lannister alone, that meant his rule was illegitimate. The North could suffer a legitimate mad Targaryen than an illegitimate Lannister. Roose had to end the doubts before it became unstoppable.
"And how do you know of this my Lord?" He asked.
"My father came to me after speaking with the King and had looked very grave. My father was planning to send Stannis a message that he was Robert's heir not Joffery, but as you all know it the Lannisters killed him to shut him up." Robb said sadly, drawing the pity of some of the Lords who became more angry at the Lannisters trying to rule the Seven Kingdoms on the blood of their Leige.
"How sure are you that Lord Eddard didn't orchestrate this whole thing? How do we know he didn't lie to you? After all the rumour is that he was planning to place your bastard brother on the throne." Roose said matter of factly.
"My father does not LIE!" Robb said and outright glared at Roose.
"So are you saying you are the liar here my Lord? Surely it wasn't you who planted the idea to Lord Eddard. Or I hope to the Old Gods that you didn't plot against your father just so we could fight for you in your power-thirsty ambition." Roose said calmly and kept looking at Robb; of every emotion he saw, fear was the most prominent one.
"Forgive me my lord if I sense that you are trying to turn my Lords against me through your outlandish lies." Robb said and glared at Roose who simply leaned into his chair.
"From what I see, you have no interest in peace or even in avenging your father, I believe that you are just trying to try and grab the throne while it is weak." Roose said. He was taking a gamble, something he never did, but he had to. His words had the desired impact as Lords on his side began to look a bit satisfied. Only a bit, he had to strike the iron while it was hot. "Why should we fight another war that we will lose so soon after a civil war we barely survived? I believe we need to make peace with the Iron Throne and beg the King for his forgiveness."
Robb grew stiff at his words, just as he'd hoped and gambled for. Enraging Robb while making the rest of the Lords think all he wanted was peace, now that was what he called a win-win situation.
"Are you by any chance suggesting that I abandon my wish to avenge my father and instead bow to an illegitimate ruler?" Robb asked with steel in his eyes.
" The King Who Knelt did that to save his people from the dragons, are you telling me that you are not willing to kneel and save us from the King's Wrath just so you could sate your ego?" Roose asked hiding a smile that he felt in his mind as many more Lords began to see his point of view.
Robb then suspired calmly and gave him a look of triumph. "So let me get this straight, you want the Lannisters to get away with killing a Lord Paramount so that what, there will be peace? When the Targaryens did that, the whole Kingdom rose in rage against them, you were among them and you did so fearing nothing. But now you shiver in fear over refusing to be cowered by the Lannisters, something tells me you are in their pockets." Robb said before leaving forward to look him in the eyes. "Or you're simply a craven. Too scared to fight for the safety of your people."
Roose breathed in deeply before he looked at Robb, the boy had outsmarted him, but he would bide his time. Attacking now was madness, but many Lords have died on the battlefield. "I just want to make certain you know the ramifications of what you are suggesting my Lord, that's all." He said and bowed towards Robb.
Soon you will be dead and I will be Lord Paramount by the King's Will. Who knows from there I will one day be grandfather to the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
Thanks for reading.
