Chapter 1 - Journey to the West

Kefla stared down at her opponent, the one who wanted to try eating her. She didn't even need to use Ki to face it as she ducked avoiding the lunge that came her way as her opponent harmlessly missed her head and hit the ground hard. Her bare hands were more than enough for her to take care of her prey.

Kefla was really bored. This one was no challenge at all. No one and nothing was a challenge, and she's still yet to find any fellow Saiyan. Kefla cocked her arm back and sent a punch to her opponent's head, hearing the satisfying sound of its skull breaking as she sent it flying away. She looked down at the slumped body of the Tyrannosaur without much interest. It was the ninth time today that she was chased by a dinosaur thinking that she was an easy meal, and yet she killed every last one of them as easily as crushing an ant.

Had she not wanted to reach her destination fast, then she'd have enjoyed the delicious dinosaur's meat. She had tasted the meat of many animals since she had started her long journey, and nothing could top the taste of a dinosaur, especially a carnivorous one. However, she was sure that her target was near, almost being able to feel it. She wouldn't stop until she reached it, so she had to leave the corpses for other animals to eat.

Her scouter was picking up a power level close to hers, something that she hadn't encountered since she first arrived on this planet. As she drew closer, she began noticing the growing scarcity of predators in the area. The few that she spotted were antsy and easily spooked, as if afraid of what lied further ahead.

Making her way through the dense forest on the mountain, Kefla eventually found herself in front of a large lake. It was surrounded by high rocks, a waterfall, and trees which made for a beautiful sight. What drew Kefla's attention, however, was the sight of a naked boy who was standing on a rock in the middle of the lake, sticking his butt out in the air.

The boy had spiky black hair, slightly tanned skin and dark eyes. He looked around her age, which didn't really give her much since she herself looked as if she were eight when she was fifteen! He was barely a few centimetres shorter than her and had a brown coloured monkey tail sticking out of his butt, which he was dipping in the lake for some unexplainable reason.

It took Kefla a moment before she realised exactly what she saw in front of her. She felt her heart beat faster in her chest. The first thing that she felt was happiness and relief; she had finally found another Saiyan on this planet! Her relief and happiness, however, gave way to anger as she figured out exactly what the idiot was doing. Kefla's smile turned into a scowl with her temper flaring before she yelled at him.

"What the hell are you doing you idiot? How could you do something so shameful!?" Really, what was the boy thinking using his own tail as bait!

The boy jumped in surprise looking left and right searching until he spotted her. His eyes widened before he sent a glare in her direction, "Hey! You scared away the fish! Why did you do that?"

Kefla didn't give a rat's ass about scaring away the fish as she glared at him harder, "Have you no shame? You're using your tail to catch fish! Don't you have any pride as a Saiyan!?" Seriously, the first Saiyan that she found is like this! She only hoped that he at least liked fighting.

The boy stopped, his anger morphing into confusion as he stared at her as if she was speaking another language, "What the hell is a Saiyan?"

Kefla goggled at him. She checked again to make sure that his tail was real and not some weird accessory. It was indeed real! There was no way that he wasn't a Saiyan! The spiky hair and its colour only reinforced that.

'Please don't let him be a complete moron,' Kefla silently hoped. She really didn't want her quest to end with finding her goal only for him to be an idiot. She had no patience for those.

"You are! You're a Saiyan! How could you not know that?!" she pointed at his tail, "Do you think that normal humans have a tail?"

The boy looked genuinely confused at that as he scratched his chin adopting a thinking pose, "Well, grandpa didn't have one,"

Kefla perked up, thinking that he understood her. "See it-"

Only to face fault as he said, "But grandpa was a weirdo, so I always assumed that he was the odd one out. I mean, look, you have a tail too!"

"It's because I'm not a human you idiot!" Kefla snapped at him.

"Wait, you're not!" The boy was shocked before his attention was caught by a giant fish that leapt out of the water and back in. Scowling, the boy yelled, "That's right! You scared away my fish! Why did you do that?" and they were back to square one.

"I didn't scare it away on purpose! You're the one in the wrong anyway, using your tail as bait! No self-respecting Saiyan would ever do that!"

"Huh? Why?" he then shook his head, "It doesn't matter anyway! I was starving, but you scared away the fish. You're probably trying to steal my fish!" he snapped, aiming an accusing finger at her before he jumped toward her, aiming a punch.

"What kind of logic is that?!" shouted Kefla as she dodged his punch, jumping a few meters backwards, "But if you want a fight, then you'll get one! I wanted to fight you in the first place." She bounced as she said that, cocking her arm back before trying to punch the boy in the him squarely, sending him flying into a tree causing it to break in half.

The boy got up immediately, "Ouch!" rubbing the bruise that formed before scowling at her.

The boy jumped at her again. She avoided him by dodging to the left as the boy landed on all four and immediately bounced fast, hitting her in a full body slam, and making her stagger. His tail wrapped itself around her wrist before he used it to send her flying into the air, and into another tree. Also breaking it.

Kefla got up scowling at the boy, mirroring the expression the boy had a few moments ago. Inside, she was feeling excited that she had finally found someone who could take her on. That punch at the start killed normal humans before while he only was bruised from it, and he was the Saiyan that she was searching for. It was great to have that fight that she had desired to have for such a long time.

She raised her hand and fired a Ki blast at him. The boy apparently didn't anticipate this as his eyes went wide before he moved, dodging the blast at the last second; however, the force of the explosion that followed still sent him rolling on the ground before he righted himself as he stood gaping at the hole that was formed.

"W-What the hell was that!?"

Kefla groaned, "You don't even know about Ki? What the hell kind of Saiyan are you?"

"I still don't know what the hell a Saiyan is!" was his retort.

Gaining a tick, Kefla yelled, "I'll tell you after I kick your naked ass!" and she ran at him.

The naked boy glared at her and ran in her direction, "I am the one who's going to kick your ass!"

Both jumped, aiming a high kick towards the other and both ended up hitting the other's chin making them cry in pain as both were sent backwards; Kefla towards the trees and the boy towards the lake.

Kefla pushed herself up, rubbing her chin as another tree was broken by the impact when Kefla had hit it. At this rate, it seemed that the clearing will be cleared off trees by the time they finish their fight. She looked to the boy who emerged from the lake, only his nose and up was above water as he sent her another deadly glare.

Kefla smirked at him as he jumped out of the water. She didn't let him take a breather as she rushed him, sending a flurry of punches and kicks.

He managed to avoid and dodge several of her punches and kicks, only a few of them landing on the boy before he got his bearings and started his own counterattack. Kefla dodged or blocked most of them with few attacks actually landing on her, which actually impressed Kefla as this was a first. She had noticed that the boy was stronger than anyone she had ever fought. Faster too. But she still had a slight edge over him in power, speed and most importantly experience in fighting people.

He wasn't an amateur. His form was actually better than most people that she had fought, but it was clear that he didn't have many opportunities to fight other people. She used this to her advantage as she forced him back with more of her kicks and punches landing on him. The more she hit him, the slower he was getting as he was accumulating more and more bruises and light injuries. Finally, he managed to jump backwards, toward the little bundle of clothes that were thrown near the lake. He looked at it before grinning. Kefla was confused before she saw him bringing out a short red coloured pole from the pile.

'Does he really think that a stick would be able to help him against me?' Kefla thought, angry at being underestimated. She growled before she moved to attack him again.

"Extend!" The boy yelled and Kefla watched, shocked, as the pole extended in length at massive speed and hit her in the stomach. Hard.

She was sent crashing into the trees behind her. Groaning in pain, she stood up clutching her stomach glaring at the pole that was now back to its original length. 'What the fuck was that? How did it extend like that?'

"How do you like that, fish thief?" the boy shouted at her, his smirking annoying her greatly.

"I. Am. Not. A. Fish. Thief!" Growled out Kefla as she charged at him again. The boy displayed a surprising skill at using the pole as he jabbed at her with it, delivering numerous thrusts that Kefla had to dodge or deflect. She quickly found herself to be the one at a disadvantage now, receiving more injuries as more and more of his attacks landed on her. It was really tricky and hard to dodge when the pole lengthened and shortened at an impressive speed. Finally, he swung his pole at her feet aiming to trip her, but she jumped over it and kicked him from above, hitting the top of his head.

The boy's head was brought down as she wrapped her tail around his head, and used it to vault over him. She attacked as soon as she landed, delivering a straight kick to the middle of his back sending him flying with his pole going in another direction.

"Ugh!" He yelled as he crashed into a boulder, cracking it. He wasn't given any respite as Kefla fired a Ki blast at the ground beneath him, avoiding hitting him directly. The blast exploded sending the boy flying upwards in the air before he fell down crashing into the ground.

The boy, while injured, wasn't done yet it seemed. He stood up, albeit a little slowly, frowning at her, "I don't know what this thing you can do is, but it's really cool! I'm going to try it!" he exclaimed excitedly.

Kefla rolled her eyes, 'As if you can do it just like that.' She was proved wrong as a blue ball of Ki formed in front of the boy's palm, making Kefla's eyes widen. The boy sent it towards her, and Kefla, who managed to shake herself out of her shock, barely dodged the attack as she dived forward. The blast hit the ground behind her, exploding and sending Kefla tumbling on the ground for a while before she stopped.

Slowly, she got to her feet, taking a fighting stance. She noticed that the boy had mirrored her actions.

There was a tense silence as a few moments passed with them simply staring at each other. Then…

"GROOOOOOWL!"

Both of them fell to the ground, their stomachs growling loudly as their hunger hit them. The fight had been on an empty stomach, thus both of them were really exhausted and in no shape to fight anymore. They looked at each other for a moment.

"Hungry…" they uttered at the same time before they started to laugh loudly.

"Hey, what's your name?" asked the boy suddenly.

"Kefla, you?"

"Son Goku!" the now-named Goku replied with a huge smile.

'That's not a Saiyan's name…' Thought Kefla, but she put it aside for now.

"So, you wanna eat something?" offered Goku with a smile.

Kefla smiled in return, "Sure… but no fish!"

-]||[-

Goku had worn his clothes and made sure to take his Power Pole with him before he and Kefla made their way to Goku's house. On their way, they also searched for something to eat. For some reason Goku didn't understand, the animals had been getting fewer as the years went on. He was sure that it wasn't because he ate all of them. They simply appeared to be afraid to get close to his house, unlike before. If he wanted to eat, then he either needed to go much further than his house or to any of the nearby lakes to find some fish.

On their way to the house, Goku and Kefla found a big bear that was stalking them. Easily, and even after their fight. Both of them managed to kill the bear and carry it to their destination.

Goku was proud of himself seeing Kefla's reaction to seeing his house. Apparently, she didn't pay much attention when she was searching for him, but now that she did, she had found the place very beautiful and relaxing.

Goku was really curious about Kefla. She had a tail just like him, but called herself a Saiyan, claiming that she wasn't a human. She had claimed that he wasn't a human either. Now Goku wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but he knew that they must have something in common since both of them had a tail and spiky hair. It was something that apparently humans didn't have. Goku hadn't met anyone before except for his grandpa and he didn't have a tail, so he would take Kefla's word for it.

He had no idea what a Saiyan was though. Aside from having tails and not using them for fishing (which was honestly bullshit in Goku's mind! They were perfect for fishing!) Then he knew nothing at all what that actually meant. As far as he knew, there were only humans and animals on the planet. If Saiyans weren't humans, and well, Goku was pretty sure that he wasn't an animal either, then what the hell were they?

Kefla was very interesting for Goku. Forgetting about all that Saiyan stuff, Kefla was the strongest person or animal that Goku had ever fought aside from his grandpa. The fight with her was the most fun that he had in years. He had never felt that alive before, the burning of his blood in his body and the rush of excitement as he punched and was punched back. It just felt right for him. He had never seriously fought against his grandpa before as his Grandpa focused more on teaching how to fight and that he shouldn't seek out fights himself. It was something that Goku had struggled with as he always wanted to search for someone or something to fight, but even his spars against his grandpa never were this fulfilling.

Goku, now that he was eating the bear with Kefla, could admit that he has been lonely since his Grandpa's death. He had no one to talk to or have fun with. He was starting to wish that Kefla would stay and not just leave after explaining everything. He still wanted to fight her again and win. He wanted to fight her not just once, but every day. His grandpa had told him

"So, you really don't know what a Saiyan is? You talked about a grandpa, did he not have a tail?" Asked Kefla as she munched on the meat.

"I never heard of Saiyans before today, so no. I don't know who my parents were, but grandpa said that he found me years ago and took me to raise me himself." Goku's voice was soft now and he had a sad nostalgic smile on his face. It was always like that when he talked about his grandpa. He had missed him a lot. "Grandpa never told me anything about me being a Saiyan."

"Where is he? Why don't we find him and ask?" said Kefla.

Goku's head dropped as he remembered that. Even after years, the loss of his grandpa still hurt him, and how he looked as he died. "Grandpa died many years ago. He was killed by a monster because of me…"

"Because of you?"

Goku nodded, "He always told me to not look at the moon or that a monster will arrive and kill us. I always did as he asked, but one day, I looked at the moon and nothing happened. A few months later, I looked again, but then I think I fell asleep. When I woke up, I found grandpa… dead."

Goku heard Kefla gasp, making him raise his head and look at her shocked face. "What? Did you know about the monster too? You know what it was?"

Kefla stayed silent for a few moments before she shook her head, "N-No. I was just shocked at what happened… I've heard of it before… the monster of the full moon."

"Full moon?" asked a confused Goku. He had no idea that it was called that. Only that looking at the moon will bring it.

"Well… The monster arrives only if you look at the full moon. It was a full moon, right? The night your grandpa died, but the other time wasn't a full moon, right?"

Goku's eyes widened in surprise. So that's why the monster didn't attack them the first time. Goku was only told to never look at the moon, but when he looked once, it wasn't a full moon so he thought it was safe. That his grandpa was messing with him.

Goku stayed silent for a while as he processed this information. He had kind of moved on from his grandpa's death. He had sworn that he'll never look at the moon again, but now at least he knew more information about what happened. Deciding to change the subject, he asked the question that he wanted to know.

"So… what exactly is a Saiyan? Where do Saiyans live?"

Kefla brightened up at the question, seemingly happy to explain about them. "Saiyans are a warrior race that used to live on a planet called Vegeta. Saiyans do look like humans but we have tails and our hair is mostly wild and untameable which are the main differences you can tell a Saiyan from a human. Saiyans' two favourite things in life are fighting and eating. Also, all Saiyan names are puns on vegetables."

Well, that was Goku's favourite things too. If it was something that was shared by all Saiyans then it made sense that he was like that too. It also explained why he enjoyed the fight with Kefla that much. He didn't know how to feel about names and vegetables though. Why weren't puns on meat?

"You said that Saiyans live on Planet Vegeta? Does that mean that we came from above?" Goku said as he looked up at the night sky. The sky was clear, full of stars that Goku had always liked. His grandpa had mentioned other planets before, and while he didn't explain much, but Goku got the idea that they were from a place far away like earth up there with the stars.

"Yeah, you can think of it like that." Agreed Kefla.

"How do you know all of that though? Are you actually really smart? Where are the other Saiyans?"

Kefla snapped at him for his remark about her intelligence before she continued her explanation. "I learnt all of this from the messages that my mother had left me… there are no other Saiyans, I think. A long time ago, a great evil had destroyed the planet and everyone on it. Only Saiyans that were away from the planet as you and me, survived." Kefla stopped for a moment, her face adopting a sad look. "My mother told me that they were going to try to get out and that they will try to come and get me. It's been years and yet no one had arrived… She also told me that I might find other Saiyans on this planet, so that's why I've been searching for years to find others like me until I found you today." She ended it with a small smile.

Goku smiled for a moment before he went back to the problem. "Who was it the evil that killed everyone? Why would they do that?"

Kefla bit her lips, "Mama didn't tell me who. Only to get as strong as I can along with any other Saiyan that I find. She told me that the Saiyans deserved it. The Saiyans were a warrior race that worked for the same evil person that destroyed them. They killed too many races and destroyed too many planets according to mama, sending their forces to kill the inhabitants of various planets before selling them off to the highest bidder. She said that it was only our sins catching up with us that it happened."

Goku stared at her with his jaw touching the ground. While he had not that much of a problem killing someone that was trying to kill him or harm anyone else, he didn't think he would ever go and kill random people for no reason! Suddenly, thinking about her words, and everything that he had learnt using every cell of his brain, he had a thought that he didn't like.

"Why was I sent to this planet, Kefla?"

"It's just as you thought. You were most likely sent to kill everyone on this planet, but I guess you somehow don't remember anything about your programming… Did you fall on your head when you were a child?"

Goku thought about it for a moment, trying to recall anything like that before he shook his head. He had never really suffered any major injury to the head once in his life.

"Strange… maybe if we find your Attack Ball then we can know the reason for that…"

"Attack Ball, what is that?"

"It's the ship that brought you here. All Saiyans use it apparently. The messages from my mother that I told you about were all recorded inside of it. Normally, it has programming to teach you how to fight, use Ki and what to do when you arrive at your destination." She paused for a moment as she scrunched her face in thought, "do you know where your grandpa found you? We can search the area to see if we can find it."

Goku nodded, "Yup. Grandpa told me about the place. He said that I should visit it one day, so maybe he knew about that Attack Ball thingy? We can visit it tomorrow."

Kefla smiled and nodded. "Now, I guess I have to tell you about Ki, right?"

Goku had stars in his eyes as he nodded vigorously. He had forgotten about the weird energy thingy that they did earlier in their fight, but now he was going to know more about it. He did remember that his grandpa mentioned a few things about it, but that was it. So Goku spent the rest of the night listening to Kefla's explanation about Ki and how to use it, leaving the thoughts of the Saiyans and Attack Balls for another day.

-]||[-

After waking up, Goku and Kefla had eaten their breakfast before they made their way towards the place where Goku's grandpa had found him. The place was quite a distance away from his home, even running it took them about half an hour to reach it.

Goku never really thought much about his parents. He knew what parents were from that talk with his grandpa, but he never really saw anyone with a parent or knew what that really meant. The closest thing to that was the animals around him with their younglings. Now though, there was a chance that his Attack Ball had something about his parents or why he was sent here.

They soon arrived at their destination. They were standing on a narrow path dug through the side of one of the mountains. On their right was a big ravine filled with thick trees and grass that concealed much of the small river that was down there.

"Is this really the place?" Kefla asked him as she looked around.

Goku nodded, "Yes. That was what grandpa had told me before." There was nothing here that was different from any other place. No Attack Ball, whatever that was.

"Look there!" suddenly exclaimed Kefla. Goku looked at where she was pointing, down in the ravine, seeing only trees and grass. Narrowing his eyes, Goku saw a circular shape hidden between two groves and tall grass. He couldn't exactly make it out, but apparently, it was what they were after as Kefla jumped down and ran toward it, with Goku following after her.

Goku found himself looking at a massive while ball made of a weird material in the middle of a crater. It had a round glass window in the middle of it. Goku saw Kefla get close to it and said, "This is it! This is your Attack Ball!"

Goku got closer to it, looking at the thing that brought him to this planet from all directions. There was no way to get in, at least not one that he could see. Goku got closer to the glass panel to see inside it, only to hear a sound, making him jump back and point his Power Pole at it, expecting an attack.

Instead, he saw the part of the ball with the glass panel on it descend to the ground, opening up the Attack Ball. Inside there were all kinds of things that Goku couldn't recognize.

"Come! Let's go inside!" Kefla urged him.

As soon as they touched the inside of the Attack Ball, a person appeared. Goku was quick to try attacking the person but Kefla stopped him, "That's just an image!"

Goku was surprised at that and gave the person a good look. It was a girl, of that, Goku was sure. She was much older than Kefla. She had spiky black hair that reached her shoulder, pale skin and onyx eyes. She also wore some type of clothing that Goku had never seen before. What mattered most was the tail visible behind her.

The girl smiled, "Is that you, Kakarot?" The girl called for someone and Goku felt something in his heart. The girl felt familiar, her looks, her voice and the way she smiled. Goku didn't know who this was, but for some reason felt that he should.

"I don't know how old you are right now, Kakarot. 5? 10? 15? I'm sorry that mommy wasn't there for you. I wish that I could go with you, but that will only endanger you more. They would have discovered our ship if we travelled together…" There were tears in the girl's eyes. "You probably don't know who I am or your name. I'm Gine, your mother and your name is Kakarot."

Goku stared wide-eyed as he understood what she had said. This was his mother. Kakarot was his name. It was all too familiar to him and he really didn't know what to think. He had grown up without a mother or father and while he was curious, he didn't really know how to feel about the whole thing. He didn't really understand what a mother really was.

Gine continued, "I don't have enough time… I wish I could stay with you, but I can't. I hope that you meet your brother one day. His name is Raditz, and he's far away right now, he should be safe. We found a planet for you, it's called Earth. We want you to grow stronger Kakarot so that you can protect yourself. Have a family and kids… and-"

"Gine, please hurry." Another voice interrupted her. A male voice.

"I-… fine… I love you, Kakarot! Please survive… Goodbye…" Gine then looked at someone that wasn't visible. "Come on, Bardock. Say something to Kakarto. Come."

Soon, a man replaced Goku's mother. The man looked so much like Goku, an older version of Goku with a scar on his cheek. He looked quite uncomfortable as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Umm… Hey, Kakarot. I'm your father Bardock… I want you to know that we care about you, son. Something is going to happen and neither I nor your mother are going to survive, but at least you will. I know that you will." By now, Bardock had become more serious as he talked with more determination than he started with. "I want you to train, Kakarot. I know that you'll prove everyone wrong. One day, you'll avenge us. I've seen it. I know that I'll be proud of you, son… Goodbye, you won't be seeing us again. Sorry."

Bardock, Goku's father, disappeared. No other person replaced him. That was it. These two were Goku's parents. Goku didn't really know how to feel. His parents had sent him away to save him, and they were dead. He was sad, but maybe not as much as he should've been or he simply still hasn't properly processed everything yet.

"Are you okay?" asked Kefla.

Goku nodded, "… yeah."

"It seems that you're just like me… Sent by our parents to survive the death of our race right, Kakarot?"

Goku looked at her surprised. "Kakarot?"

Raising an eyebrow, she answered. "That's your name, isn't it? I'll call you with your Saiyan name. I like it better."

Goku shrugged. It was his name after all, and if Kefla preferred that over Goku then he didn't really care much.

"My mother told me the Saiyans had it coming. That we were an evil race and we only suffered what we brought to other races." Kefla said. Goku wasn't that smart but he guessed that Kefla's mother was right, but he didn't really like it, since he lost his parents because of it. "However, she told me that we have another chance. That I and any other survivor has the chance to be better. To train and fight to protect other races instead of killing them." Kefla paused for a moment, "I want to fulfil mom's wish. I want to train and grow strong enough to do it and protect ourselves."

"I want to be strong too! We can become strong and fight strong opponents! We can fight bad guys, maybe even the ones who destroyed the Saiyans!" Goku declared passionately.

Kefla beamed at him. She nodded. "Of course! I want to fight strong people too! I'll be the strongest in the world!"

"Hey! That's going to be me!"

"You? No way! I can beat your ass any day!"

They glared at each other for a few moments before they started laughing.

"What are you going to do now? You'll leave?" asked Goku. He didn't want his new friend to just go, leaving him alone again. Kefla was fun and he liked her. He wanted her to stay so they could train and fight together every day.

"What are you talking about, Kakarot?" Kefla gave him a 'Are you stupid?' look. "Now that I've found you. You won't be getting rid of me that easily! Someone has to teach you how to be a proper Saiyan after all!"

Goku jumped in the air. "Great!" Goku then tilted his head. "Why did you call me Kakarot, not Goku?"

"It's your Saiyan name, idiot. I'll only be using it!" Kefla said before she jumped and floated in the air. "Come on now! I'm going to teach you how to fly!"

Goku looked awestruck at seeing Kefla in the air. "You can fly!" he exclaimed before he followed after the female Saiyan.

Bulma sighed as she stepped out of her car.

"Finally, I've managed to get away from it. Again!" she screamed into the air.

She had just managed to escape from a dinosaur for the fifth time since the morning, and it was starting to annoy her. Bulma wasn't known for her patience outside of inventing and researching new stuff, and encountering animal after animal bent on eating her wasn't something that helped her already short temper.

Dinosaurs have been extinct for a very long time on earth for, well, no one really knew the reason. There were several popular theories, one of them being a giant meteor that hit the earth and wiped out the dinosaurs, but no actual evidence was found that supported any of these theories.

It was as if the dinosaurs just died one day.

"It's all because of that idiot! Ugh, If I had my blaster then it'd have been a problem!" she yelled, walking away from the car.

About more than a hundred years ago, a nutjob decided that he wanted to bring dinosaurs back. He gathered a team of scientists and made his dream happen, but didn't live long enough to enjoy it as he was eaten by a T. rex. A series of bad choices lead the dinosaurs to escape and reproduce causing many problems. The government decided to pass a law protecting them and only allowing people to hunt them if they went too close to cities or attacked humans.

After being chased by dinosaurs all morning. Bulma was ready to strangle everyone involved.

She uncorked her bottle of water; drinking greedily.

"That hit the spot..."

She finally took in the scenery around her as she had no time before, more concerned about getting away from large carnivorous lizards.

"Wow!" her eyes widened in pure awe.

All around her were tall, skinny mountains reaching above the clouds. The mountain was covered with all kinds of beautiful trees and plants; Fir, Sakura and Pine trees. The scenery offered several vibrant colours; hues of green, blue, pink and other colours that took the breath away. Waterfalls, thin clouds and fog only enhanced the view and gave it a magical feeling that you don't get just anywhere.

While Bulma was a city girl, she did appreciate the scenery. She wouldn't mind spending some time here.

"I wonder though, why did everyone try to persuade me from coming here."

Earlier that day, she had stopped in a town a little far away from the mountains to gather information. Everyone there gave her the same advice.

'Don't go to the mountains west of here. It's too dangerous'

They spoke of weird noises every full moon. The various monsters that lived in the mountain and dangerous elements. How, the closer you got to the central mountain and the tallest of them all, animals became scarce and no predator dared to get closer as if afraid of something living there.

While she did notice that the number of animals did grow thin as she went on, she noticed none of the other things that they've mentioned. If it wasn't for the dinosaurs, the mountains were one of the most peaceful places she had ever visited.

Getting a circular device out of a small brown pouch on her waist, she checked it over to make sure that she was on the right path.

The device was the Dragon Radar. A device that gave the location of the mystical Dragon Balls.

Bulma had finally done it after spending years working on it, trying to understand them and how to find them, and after she managed to do that, she worked on making the device smaller until it fit in her small hand.

"Still not there... maybe a little toward the west?"

She shrugged before she got back into her car and sped away towards her destination.

-]||[-

Bulma was driving her car toward her destination, the central and tallest mountain in the area. She was getting closer and should be arriving in a little less than half an hour.

She was looking out of the window when she saw it.

An impossible sight.

It was two kids on their way from one of the mountains toward the same mountain she was driving on. The first kid had spiky black hair and wore a purple gi with a blue shirt underneath it and was obviously a boy; the other was a girl with spiky black hair in a way that resembled a pineapple and held up in a ponytail.

Both of them looked to be around seven and each was carrying a fish several times their size.

But that wasn't what shocked Bulma and caused her to hit the brakes.

What made Bulma's jaw hit the ground was the fact that both of them were literally flying.

Bulma did a double-take and a triple take.

'Yup, there are two kids flying while carrying giant fish!'

She didn't know if she was losing her mind or what, but she was going to do something about it.

"Hey, you two!"

The two kids finally noticed her as they looked in her direction, the boy pointing at himself, "You're talking to us?"

"No, I'm talking to the fishes that you're carrying... Of course, I'm talking to you!"

The two kids looked at each other before they descended, landing in front of her.

The boy asked, "Who are you anyway?" his eyes widened and took a step back, glaring at her, "You're not here to steal our fishes, are you?"

The girl beside him hit his head, "Not everyone is after your fish!"

The boy whined before he zeroed in on her car. He put the fish on the ground before he started jumping around the car, scrutinizing it and probing it with a red wooden pole that he got from his back.

Bulma noticed a monkey tail coming out of the boy's butt, making her think that it was some kind of cosplay.

"What is this metal thing? It looks like my Attack Ball thingy… kind of… If I really squint..."

"It's called a car!" the girl helpfully said.

"Oooh! So, this is what a car looks like!" The kid sounded really excited at seeing what appeared to be his first car. Ever.

"Wait, you've never seen a car before?" asked Bulma, shocked by such a thing.

"Nah. Grandpa Gohan had told me about cars before, but I've never seen one here in the mountains." the kid said as he went back and picked up his fish.

'Wow, is this a real-life country bumpkin? I've never seen one before,' thought Bulma before she remembered why she stopped them in the first place as she saw them ignore her, about to fly away.

She waved for them, "Wait! How are you flying like that? How is that possible?"

The boy tilted his head, "What do you mean how? I'm just using my Ki. I just need to focus it around my body and use it to float."

"What the hell is this 'Ki' thing?"

This time it was the girl who said, "Huh? You don't know what Ki is?" Bulma nodded to confirm that, "Well, it's a long explanation to do it here. Why not come with us to his house, right Kakarot?"

The now named Kakarot, which was really a weird name in Bulma's opinion, nodded, "Of course!" he nodded happily, "We'll even share our fishes with you!"

Bulma chuckled at the little kid's enthusiasm, "How generous of you! I'm Bulma, by the way."

Both of them smiled, "I'm Kefla," the girl said,

"And I'm Son Goku!" the boy added, his smile shining like the sun.

Bulma looked at him confused, "Son Goku? But didn't Kefla just call you Kakarot?"

Goku nodded, "Yes, both of them are my names! We'll tell you later when we're eating!"

Bulma shrugged before she got into her car and followed the two flying kids.

-]||[-

They arrived at a clearing at the top of the mountain. It was covered in short green grass with few pine trees around and in the middle was a small traditionally built house. She could see the other mountains' peaks and clouds below and the beautiful blue sky all gave the scenery a peaceful and calm atmosphere.

"Wow, this is where you live?"

Goku nodded proudly, "Yup. Pretty great, huh?"

The two kids proceeded to put the fishes on the ground before they gathered some firewood from a pile of them which was on the side. The girl, Kefla, put her hand and fired a blast of something from her freaking hand that lit the wood on fire.

"W-What!? How did you do that?" asked a shocked Bulma.

Kefla raised an eyebrow, "It's also Ki," she said before she continued her work.

'That Ki thing again? Can it do anything?' Thought Bulma, growing more and more interested in this Ki power they keep mentioning. Bulma was a scientist and naturally interested in something that would allow humans to fly, create a blast of energy and light fires.

Snapping out of her thoughts, she saw the two of them about to put the fishes on the fire.

She held out her hand, "Stop! Are you just going to put the fish like that? You consider that cooking them?"

The two of them stared at her in bewilderment.

"Yes?..."

"What? You have to clean it first! And you need to use seasons and herbs to make it taste better!"

"Really? My grandpa and I have never used something like that before," said Goku dubiously.

Kefla hit the palm of her hand, "Seasoning… Yeah, I think I heard of it on my travels!"

"Yeah, the seasoning will make it taste way better. Since you two don't know anything about it, I'll have to do it for you but you'll be helping!"

The two of them looked at her wide-eyed and gaping, "You know how to cook?" said Kefla.

"Really? Wow, what a surprise!" added Goku.

Bulma's eyes narrowed as she shouted at them furiously "WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!?"

"You don't look like the type to know how to cook,"

"Yup, don't look reliable at all," added Goku seriously.

Bulma's eyes twitched before she exploded, "WHY YOU! I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT I'M PRETTY RELIABLE!"

"Is that so?" both of them replied with a monotone voice before pointing at the two giant fishes, "then, by all means, show us how to cook."

Bulma stared at the two giant fishes for a few moments…

"Um… I… I'll need your help moving them around..." she admitted, gritting her teeth.

-]||[-

"I found it!" exclaimed Bulma holding a small capsule in her hand.

She threw it to the ground, and with a loud Pop! It released a cloud of smoke. The cloud dissipated revealing an ornate spread of cookware; flatware, pots, pans, skillets, knives and many more. All of it was of the utmost top quality too.

"Woah! Are you a witch?" Goku asked as he took a step back.

"I think I've seen these things before on my travels! The magical capsules that I've told you about!" said Kefla, stars in her eyes.

Bulma sighed, "These aren't magical capsules! And I'm not a witch!"

Goku gave her a skeptical look, "You're not?'"

Bulma shook her head, "These are DynoCaps or Hoi-Poi Capsules! My dad made them using science, not magic. It can store all sorts of things inside it except for living things. We tried to store a living mouse before… It wasn't a pretty sight," Bulma wrinkled her nose in disgust remembering that incident.

"It creates a sub-dimension that puts any item inside it in stasis keeping it fresh for any period of time without any negative effects. It uses Miniaturization to get the item inside it, and it returns to its original size when we get it out." finished Bulma smugly.

She facepalmed however at the two blank, dumbfounded faces that stared back at her, "Right… I forgot who I'm talking to," she huffed before she scowled at them, "I'll explain it better later, for now just think of it as a capsule bigger on the inside than it looks and can make things smaller, get it?"

Goku and Kefla both nodded now that they actually understood what it can do. The basics of it really.

She gestured to Goku and Kefla who brought the fish closer, taking one of the knives, she began raking the scales off, "See how am I doing it?" Kefla and Goku leaned in, taking a closer look, "Take another knife and do the same. Usually, I use the dull side of the knife, but this fish is huge and its scales are big and hard. Do it carefully!"

Both of them nodded and started working on the other fish. Even with the three of them, it took them a while until they finished descaling the fishes. After that, Bulma used the water that she had Goku collect to clean the scales off completely.

Bulma took a big, sharper knife and inserted the tip into the fish's belly near its end. She started cutting, opening the fish and moving the blade up along the belly until she reached the head.

"You need to keep the knife shallow, so you don't puncture the intestines!" she informed them. They needed to learn this stuff and Bulma won't be there to do it for them every time.

With a disgusted face, Bulma spread the body open, removing all the entrails and whatever else was there. She literally had to insert her arm up to nearly her shoulder due to how big the fish was.

She washed the inside carefully with water until she was satisfied before she started removing the various fins, having Goku and Kefla remove the other fish's.

Finally, after washing it again, she was done. She took a sharp, large knife and started making slightly deep cuts on the fish's body.

"Why are you doing that?" they asked, obviously interested.

"The fish is too big, and I have nothing to cut it into smaller pieces. I don't want it so that flames would be able to cook it well, not to mention that I can put several herbs and seasoning inside these cuts."

She got the various herbs and seasoning out and started sorting through them, deciding which to use for this dish.

"Salt and Pepper are the most commonly used spices. You can use them with almost anything as long as you know how much to use. Salt especially can enhance the taste of anything you use it on," she gave them her advice noting happily that they at least were paying attention.

She continued her work, mixing salt, pepper, oil and various herbs to make a mixture. Bulma used it to smear it over the fish, inside of it and put it in the cuts she made earlier.

After Bulma finished, they speared the fishes on sticks big enough to carry it and put it over the campfire.

"Now we wait."

-]||[-

"So, will you explain to me why you have two names?" asked Bulma as they sat on the grassy ground, waiting for the fishes to be cooked.

"Ah… My parents called me Kakarot, but they died when I was young; when my grandpa Gohan found me, he gave me the name Goku!" Goku said with a melancholic smile.

Bulma swallowed, feeling a bang in her chest at hearing that Goku had lost his parents at a young age.

"I'm sorry…" she tried to change the subject, "Where's your Grandpa anyway? We can't eat without him now, can we?" only to fuck it up.

Goku's smile completely disappeared as his head dropped to the ground. He spoke in a shaky voice, "... Grandpa Gohan is… dead," his voice broke saying that, "He died years ago… killed by a monster..."

Bulma gasped, feeling terrible for bringing that up. She had only known the two of them for a few hours, but she could help but feel a heavyweight in her stomach upon hearing that, grieve washing over her for the little kid who had lost both his parents and adopted grandfather when he was merely a child.

'And I had to bring it up! Good job, Bulma! I want to change the subject only for me to make it worse!' Bulma mentally scolded herself.

Goku seemed to have collected himself and gave her a smile, shaking his head, "Nah, It's nothing… I've mostly gotten over it."

Wanting to change the subject from the depressing thoughts, Bulma decided to ask about this Ki and their ability to fly seemingly under their own power. "So, what is this 'Ki' thing that you mentioned and how do you use it to fly?"

Kefla took charge of the explanation. "Ki is also known as latent energy or fighting power. It's basically the life force of every being. Inside of every living being is a tangible energy that they can draw it out, and manipulate it and use it outside of the body."

'Life force? Latent energy? That sounds like a lot of myths and legends about martial arts that people usually hear about or are in movies. Those things actually real?' Thought Bulma.

Kefla continued, "When fighters gather Ki, they're able to gain enhanced strength, speed, endurance and can increase the power of their attacks to inflict greater damage to their opponents. You can use Ki to use different techniques. The one I used earlier is a simple Ki blast to start the fire. As for the flight, well, you need to have enough Ki and be able to manipulate your Ki before you use it around your body to levitate and fly."

Kefla extended her arm in front of her body, cupping her hand. A beautiful bright red ball made of energy. Its glow illuminated the night. "Once you're able to do this easily then you can use Ki to fly."

Bulma's eyes widened as she looked at it, mesmerized. "Woah! It's so beautiful! I've never seen anything like it before." She looked at Kefla disbelievingly. "Can anyone actually do that?"

Bulma couldn't keep the excitement out of her voice even if she tried. Who wouldn't be excited in her place? Humans had always been fascinated by the idea of flying, and while they worked for centuries until it was possible to fly using aeroplanes, it was still a dream for humans to fly with their own powers. On their own, freely and not inside a vehicle.

Kefla nodded.

"How? How? Can I do this too?"

Kefla nodded, "Yes, you can. Although we need to unlock your Ki since you're a human, not a Saiyan."

"Yeah, that makes sen- What the hell is a Saiyan? You make it sound like you're not human."

Both Goku and Kefla nodded, "Because we aren't. We're Saiyans, not humans." Answered Kefla before pointing at her tail, "See?"

Bulma felt like facepalming. The kids thought that attaching a tail to their butt would make them aliens. The two of them were obviously a pair of Chūnibyō that thought it was cool to be aliens and even came up with a name. Saiyans. Bulma snorted, she knew that aliens did exist from her sister's adventure with the weirdo alien called Poca? Paco? Pico? She wasn't really sure, but there was no way that aliens looked exactly like humans, only with a monkey tail. That'd be lame.

"What does being a Saiyan or human have to do with unlocking Ki?"

"Saiyans are born with their Ki unlocked, but humans from what I saw generally have theirs locked, so we need to unlock it first before you start training."

That caught Bulma's attention. "Training?! What kind of training? I didn't sign up for any training at all!" While Bulma did do a few exercises to keep in shape, she wasn't really a fan and she had the idea that maybe their idea of training wasn't quite like hers. It wasn't the idea of getting sweaty or dirty that she found unappealing, but rather the physical exercise itself.

"Yes, training. You want to fly, right? Even if we were to unlock your Ki right at this moment, you'd not be able to do it. You're too weak, Bulma."

"Hey!" protested Bulma.

Goku snickered, "She's talking about your Ki, Bulma."

Kefla nodded. "Yes. See this device that I have on?" Kefla pointed to the weird device that was on her ear with a small semi-transparent coloured screen in front of her eye. "This is called a 'Scouter'. It's a device that one can use to calculate the 'Power Level' of other beings, along with other uses."

Now that was interesting to Bulma. She wondered if she could get her hands on the device and see how it was made and maybe if she could replicate it. She wondered which scientist invented the scouter and why it wasn't well known.

'Maybe it is a prototype and still in the testing phase?' wondered Bulma, 'but then, why would it be in the hands of a kid like here.'

"I guess then, the only way to raise my Ki enough is through training?"

Kefla nodded, making Bulma wince.

Was she prepared to spend likely hours training rather than inventing something? Was she prepared for the physical toll on her body? On the other hand, flying. Flying under her own power! Something that humans had dreamt of for years. That wasn't a chance that she could pass up at all. No one who was sane would. Learning to use Ki could also prove useful in other areas. Bulma could only guess for now how useful Ki could be for technology and other areas.

"Okay, then." Bulma nodded, determined. "Please, teach me!"

Both Goku and Kefla beamed at her. "Great! We'll have to start with meditation. Being able to keep calm and focus during any situation will make it easier for you to control your Ki."

"Meditation got it." How hard could it be, right? "Although now it's time to eat!"

Both Goku and Kefla exclaimed happily, jumping out of their seats before they quickly placed the meats on the plates, making Bulma chuckle at their enthusiasm. Simultaneously, both of them began, biting into the tender meat. As soon as they ate the first bite, their eyes widened with stars sparkling in them.

"This is too delicious!" both yelled at the same time, making Bulma chuckle. She was a decent cook in her opinion, but she reasoned with the kids eating properly cooked food for the first time in their life, it seemed.

They didn't waste any time to start tearing into the meat like the devil was after them. Bulma was skeptical when they insisted on cooking both massive fishes, but right now, Bulma gaped at the absolute massacre that was happening in front of her. The food was disappearing into the black holes that the two kids called stomachs.

Bulma decided to eat fast or she wouldn't have anything to eat in a few minutes.

-]||[-

Both kids belched. "That was great!"

Bulma winced at the disgusting sound but made no comment about it. It was clear that the kids weren't taught manners by anyone. It'd have to be something that Bulma taught them about while they teach her about Ki and then she'd resume her jour-

Bulma bolted up! She had completely forgotten about her journey! It completely slipped her mind when she saw the kids flying and wanted to know about Ki and flying. The Dragon Ball that she was after should be in the area since she was heading in this direction either way.

She unclipped the dragon radar from its place on her hips, checking it, she had to double-take as the radar showed that the Ball was near. In fact, it was directly in front of her. Narrowing her eyes, Bulma made her way towards the small hut that was Goku's and Kefla's house with both of them following after her. Opening the door, she saw the object of her desires resting on a pillow on top of a rack right in front of her.

"YES!"

Bulma screamed in joy before she pounced on the Ball. She grabbed it and held it up in celebration, turning around, she found her face facing the end of a red pole held by an angry-looking Goku with Kefla standing beside him.

"What do you think you're doing? This is grandpa's ball!"

Bulma couldn't help but say, "I'm sure your grandpa's balls weren't as smooth as this."

Goku had a confused expression on his face while Kefla snickered. "What?"

"Nothing!"

Goku gave her a disbelieving look but moved on. "That ball was grandpa's. It's the last thing that I have of him!"

Bulma froze, gaining a sympathetic look. The Dragon Ball was his dead grandpa's property and obviously, Goku won't take it kindly the fact that she pounced on it without explanation. Raising her hands in the air, she explained herself. "Sorry, I didn't mean to look like I was stealing it! It's just that this is a Dragon Ball, and it's something that I've been searching for, for a while now."

"A Dragon Ball? What's that?" asked Goku before his eyes widened a bit. "It's glowing? Why? It's never done that before."

Bulma looked up and saw that it was true. The Ball was glowing and she knew why. She reached into her bag slowly, to not startle Goku or Kefla, and pulled out two identical orbs with one small difference. The numbers of stars that they had.

Both Goku and Kefla perked up. "You have two of them?!" exclaimed Goku. "I never knew that there are others out there."

Bulma nodded, "Yes! See this? Each ball has a certain number of stars on it to tell it apart. There are seven of them in total! I heard their legend a long time ago from a fortune teller. I was sceptical of it, but then I found one of them in the attic of my house. It looked exactly as I'd seen the fortune teller show me! I later found the Two-Star Dragon Ball and after studying both of them for years, I managed to make the Dragon Radar and started my journey to search for them!"

"Why?"

Bulma grinned. "Not many people know about it, but once all seven Balls are brought together, you can summon a real Dragon! The dragon can then grant you any one wish you want!"

"Woah… that's so cool!" exclaimed both Goku and Kefla. They were now staring at the Dragon Balls with obvious awe in their eyes. That made Bulma think about it. The Ball was Goku's, so she can't really take it just like that, certainly not when it was important to him and his grandpa. She wasn't heartless. Both Goku and Kefla were obviously strong, far stronger than her. If only by the fact that they could use Ki, fly and carry fishes several times their size and weight with ease. She also wouldn't mind companions with her on her quest.

"What do you say, Goku? Kefla? How about you guys tag along with me as my partners on my journey? It'll be a lot of fun! We'll be going all over the world searching for the rest and we'll see all kinds of things!"

"Of course! That sounds like it'll be fun!" Exclaimed Goku.

"Hold on a moment!" interjected Kefla.

"Huh? What?" Asked a confused Bulma.

"You said one wish, right? What do we get out of it? We're teaching you how to use Ki and fly. We'd probably be the one to fight if anything happened on the journey and we own one of the balls ourselves."

Bulma winced. That was true. In a way that she was using them for her own goal and they won't be getting anything out of it. Normally, she'd have no trouble with that, but both Goku and Kefla were kind kids and they were going to teach her how to fly. Thinking about what she can offer, she decided.

"How about this? I'm pretty smart. I can see that you guys didn't get any formal education. I can teach you a few things that I think are important throughout the journey. I can also teach you how to cook. You liked the food just now, right? You'll also be getting an adventure!"

Kefla made a thinking pose for a moment before she nodded, making Bulma sigh in relief.

"So, what's your wish?" asked Goku.

"I'm going to wish for the most perfect boyfriend in the world!" Declared Bulma proudly.

Both Goku and Kefla simply stared at her. "What the hell is a boyfriend?"

Bulma facepalmed. 'Of course, these two wouldn't know what a boyfriend is!'

"Well… A boyfriend is a male companion whom one is interested in, and hopes to spend the rest of life with. Eventually."

"So, like father and mother?" Asked Kefla.

"Basically, something like that."

"Why would you wish for that though?" Asked Kefla.

"What do you mean, why?"

"If it's like father and mother then why not go and find someone yourself? What prevents you from doing that? Wouldn't it be a waste of wish to wish for something that you can get yourself? And why do you think it'll even work? The dragon would find you your perfect boyfriend, but what if he doesn't like you?"

Bulma went red, she yelled. "I shouldn't have told you about my wish! Of course, you'd not understand, you're like seven years old after all!"

Kefla scowled. "Hey! I'm not seven! I'm damn fifteen years old!"

"What?" Bulma yelled out. She looked at Kefla, eyes wide and jaw dropped to the ground. She examined Kefla carefully, she didn't look older than seven, or eight at the best, so how the hell was she a fifteen years old girl? Barely a year younger than herself! The kids didn't look like they were suffering from dwarfism. They were too well proportioned for that.

"Yeah, I can't wait to have my growth spurt. It'll be in about a year or so." Kefla scowled, apparently annoyed about waiting for her growth spurt.

Bulma looked at Goku. "How old are you then?"

"I'm thirteen and a half!"

Bulma shook her head, she wasn't in the mood to deal with this now. It was late and she was getting tired after a long day. Yawning, she stretched her arms above her head thinking about taking a shower before going to her bed. "I think we should go to sleep now. We can start our journey tomorrow."

"Nuh ah. We won't be going until you unlock your Ki." Countered Kefla.

Bulma just shrugged. She has been on the journey for a while now. She could take a few days of rest before she could resume her journey, after all, the Dragon Balls weren't going anywhere. Right?

-]||[-

Using one of the Dyno-caps, Bulma set up a house for her to live in which resulted in another round of Goku and Kefla calling her a witch. Bulma had given up on correcting them for now.

Bulma was now standing in front of her house thinking about taking a bath when she took a look at Goku and Kefla. Both of them looked dirty and they stank. "Aren't you guys going to take a bath? When was the last time you took a bath?" She looked around and noticed that there was nothing but the hut. There was not even a place for a bathroom.

"A Bath? Do you mean a swim?" asked Goku, blinking confusedly at her. "We took a swim in the lake when we got the fish!"

Bulma stared at him for a few moments, she looked at Kefla who replied with the same answer. 'For god sake! It's like I'm dealing with Tarzan or Mowgli here. Fine!' "Okay, follow me Kefla. We'll take a bath first then Goku can go on."

"Why can't Goku join us?" Kefla tilted her head questioningly.

"He's a boy! He's not even a little boy, but nearly our age! He'd see us naked?"

Kefla just blinked. "So? We already saw each naked before, me and him. Where is the problem with that?"

Bulma felt a vein pop up in her forehead. She moved her finger through her hair to calm herself down. "I… I'll explain more later. For now, just do as I say."

A few minutes later, Bulma was scrubbing Kefla's hair. "This shampoo stuff is disgusting!" shouted Kefla.

"It's because you're not supposed to eat it!" Yelled an exasperated Bulma. "Damn it! Your hair is so smooth and silky! How? You don't bath and I won't bother asking about brushing…" Bulma complained as she rinsed Kefla's hair. "Other girls would kill to have hair as nice as yours!"

"All Saiyans have hair like that."

"Yeah, yeah. That's the name of your tribe that you and your brother belong to or something?"

"Brother?" Kefla blinked owlishly at her.

"Yeah, Goku."

"Goku isn't my brother though. I only met him a few days ago."

Bulma was surprised at that. "What? Really? But you guys look like you're related! And you're even wearing the same cosplay tail!" Bulma's eyes drifted toward the brown monkey tail covered by foam. "Speaking of which, why did you leave it on?" Bulma reached out, grabbed it and tried to yank it off.

"OW!" Kefla yelled out loud. "What the hell are you doing, Bulma!?"

Bulma stared flabbergasted for a full minute before she snapped. "What the fuck!? NO WAY! IT'S A FUCKING REAL TAIL! HOW!?"

Kefla deadpanned. "We have been telling you all day that we aren't humans… We are Saiyans!"

Bulma looked ready to faint, paling a little as she stared at the little alien girl. Sure, she knew aliens existed, but she had no personal experience with one before. Her sister did and it was with a weirdo that looked like nothing like this girl in front of her. Sure, Pika wasn't hostile and had no malicious intentions, but can the same be said about all aliens?

Bulma shook her head. Goku and Kefla were nice. They were nice to her. They were going to teach her about Ki and flying and would be her partners on her journey. They were too innocent to be evil.

"I-I really thought that you were being delusional or something… I didn't expect aliens to only be different from humans by a simple monkey tail."

"It's not the only difference."

"It's not?"

Kefla crossed her arms. "Saiyans do look like humans, but we have tails. Which is also very sensitive and a weak point so please don't touch it again." She sent a glare toward Bulma, caressing her tail softly. Bulma on her part raised her arms in the air and sent her an apologetic look. "We also have crazy spiky hair. Pure blooded Saiyans have had the same hairstyle since the day we're born. We can't change it, at all. Also, we age differently."

Bulma right now was relaxing in the tube, listening intently to Kefla. "How so? Are you immortal or are all Saiyans stuck looking like children?"

"Yeah, well. We grow up normally until we're like seven or eight, then don't physically change until we're between sixteen and eighteen. At that time, we hit our growth spurt and grow physically very, very slowly until we stop at our prime which is different from a Saiyan to another. For example, some might hit their prime at twenty-one while others at twenty-five." Explained Kefla as they resumed their bath. "We stay at our prime until we're about eighty years or so before we start ageing again."

Bulma's eyes bulged at all of that. She was really envious of the Saiyans. While the one hairstyle thing was annoying, it still came with smooth silky hair that didn't need any care. There was also the fact that they'd look in their primes for decades!

Kefla continued, headless of Bulma's thoughts. "That's when the power of a Saiyan comes into play."

"Huh, how so?"

"My mother told me about it. Naturally, the average Saiyan has a life-span of 200 years if they don't die in a battle. The average Saiyan would start ageing again at eighty, but the stronger the Saiyan the more that changes, making them stay at their prime longer. They also live longer. According to my mother, the longest recorded was over 500 years old."

"H-How?"

"The answer is Ki of course. You remember what I said, right? Ki is also life force and it boosts physical abilities. Saiyans naturally live longer than Humans, and with Ki, they could live even longer. Although most Saiyans die in battles…"

"H-Holy shit! Ki is really amazing!"

Kefla nodded. "Saiyans are also born stronger. Grow stronger faster and heal faster. We also learn Ki faster and easier than others."

Bulma whistled, impressed by all the things that Saiyans can do. "W-Wow. You guys really are amazing! It's so amazing that it's borderline cheating!"

Kefla chuckled. "It's natural given our nature."

"Nature?"

"We, Saiyans, have two things that we enjoy the most. Fighting and eating. We're a warrior race so it's kind of what we are born to do."

"Heeh… You mentioned your mother, where is she?"

Kefla hung her head down, gaining a sad look. "My mother is dead. She died a long time ago."

Bulma cringed, mentally facepalming at asking another sensitive question. "I'm sorry I asked."

Kefla shook her head. "You couldn't have known."

"What about other Saiyans? Surely, you and Goku aren't the only ones on Earth, right? You're strong, but you're too young to be alone, right?"

Kefla chuckled bitterly. "I told you that we're a warrior race, right? A long time ago, there were Good Saiyans and Evil Saiyans. At one point, a civil war happened and the Evil Saiyans won. After that, we started to sell our services to the highest bidder. Attacking other planets, conquering them and ending the races that lived on them. Our employer would then sell it to the highest bidder and we'd get a portion of the money. Saiyans usually send young children to planets with low power levels and low priority so that they'd conquer them on their own."

Bulma paled as she began to try to get away from Kefla as much as she could. "T-Then you guys were sent to conquer Earth!?"

Kefla tilted her head at her before she laughed for a few moments. "Y-You are funny, Bulma! No, I and Kakarot weren't sent to kill anyone here. You don't have to worry about other Saiyans ever coming here, at least I think you don't need to."

Something in the way that Kefla said that sounded strange to her. "Why is that?"

"According to mom, one day, someone decided that we were too much of a wild card and decided to end us. She didn't tell me who, but that person destroyed our planet and everyone else on it. Kakarot and I were sent by our parents to be saved from the destruction of our planet, Planet Vegeta. I don't know if there are other Saiyans out there who survived but we could very well be the last of the Saiyans."

Bulma was stunned. She didn't really know how to react. The Saiyans were obviously evil, but at the same time, Kefla and Goku had lost their parents and their entire race. Genocide wasn't something that she thought about every day as it wasn't something that happened! She wondered how it would feel. To be the last of your own race with no planet of your own to call home.

"I-I'm not sure how to react. Honestly."

Kefla shrugged. "Mom said that we deserved it for all the races that we killed ourselves. She said that I and any surviving Saiyan have the chance to redeem the Saiyans."

Bulma stayed silent. Redeeming the sins of an entire race wasn't something easy or something that a kid should be concerned with. Goku and Kefla were kind and she liked them, but she wondered if they'd be able to do it.

She clapped her hands, wanting to change the subject. "Come one! Let's finish and let Goku have his time!"

-]||[-

"GOD FUCKING DAMN IT!" Screamed Bulma, frustrated with her progress, or lack of it. "WHY THE FUCK IT'S NOT WORKING!?" It'd be prudent to say that Bulma had an explosive temper and a very dirty mouth whenever she's frustrated or angry.

Bulma thought that unlocking her Ki would've been by now. It should've been easy. A piece of cake! She was Bulma! The genius girl who had three PhD by the time she was fourteen! Fixed an alien ship! Was the top scientist at Dyno-Caps aside from her father and the one who everyone hailed as the future of Dyno-Caps. She was a girl who managed to do anything she set her mind to and yet she couldn't even feel a little bit of Ki!

She had been at it for three days and yet there was nothing so far. "Why can't I do it?"

"Come on, Bulma. Don't give up!``said Goku as he put his hand on her shoulder.

"Easy for you to say mister because you never had to do this." She then glared at Goku. "And for your information, Goku. Bulma will never ever give up!"

"You need to relax Bulma or you'll never be able to summon your Ki." Replied Goku with a little smile.

Bulma sighed as she took a deep breath.

"Kakarot, maybe if she feels our Ki, then she'd know what to search for herself?"

Goku shrugged as both he and Kefla sat cross-legged around Bulma. They all held their hands together and both Goku and Kefla began channelling their Ki.

Bulma looked at the serene faces of both Goku and Kefla, she felt a little smile tug at her lips. It's been only a few days since she had met them and yet she really enjoyed their company. They weren't as smart as her of course, few people if any were, but she enjoyed interacting with them. There was something genuine about it all that she never got with other people before.

Suddenly, she felt a warmth invade her body as an electric current raced from her hand, up to her arms to the rest of her body. It didn't hurt at all. Instead, it was pleasant and her body felt energised. She looked at Goku and Kefla. Kefla had an aura of red energy covering her entire body, outlining her entire body while Goku's was blue in colour.

She couldn't exactly tell how powerful they were, but she felt that they were pretty powerful. More powerful than any human she ever heard of. She wondered if it was because they were Saiyans. She concentrated, trying as much as she could to feel their Ki, memorise that feeling so that she could remember it.

Just before they broke the contact she felt something. A tug. It was so small, barely noticeable just below her belly button. It made Bulma gasp as she unintentionally broke the contact.

"Bulma?" asked Goku with a hint of worry in his voice.

Bulma smiled, panting slightly. "I-I think I got it! I felt something!"

Kefla perked up. "Come on then, try it."

Bulma closed her eyes and concentrated trying to remember the feeling from before and summon what she felt in her gut. She tried for more than a minute before she slumped down. She had failed.

"Why!? I just felt it, so why didn't it work?" Bulma has never felt so disappointed in herself before.

"Maybe you just don't have enough Ki inside of your body. In fact, I think that's the problem."

Bulma slumped further at Kefla's word. To think that her dream of flying died before it began because she was simply too weak. Her new friends were going to be disappointed by her now. Bulma felt a hand on her shoulder, she looked up seeing Goku's smiling face.

"What's wrong, Bulma?"

"I failed. I can't fly because I'm too weak, right?"

Bulma felt someone slap her on the top of her head. She turned to glare at Kefla who was crossing her arms. "What the hell are you talking about? You're weak right now, sure. But, why are you talking like it's the end? You simply have to train more to increase your Ki and grow stronger."

Bulma perked up. "So, it's not hopeless?"

Goku shook his head. "Of course not! Did you think you could've felt anything at all a few days ago? You've been training for three days and it made all the difference! Keep training and one day you'd be able to increase your Ki enough to use it and fly!"

Bulma paled at the mention of more training, but she steeled her nerves. She was going to fly no matter what. She wasn't going to let something as simple as training stop her.

"Alright, let's do it!"

-]||[-

Bulma felt like she was going to die.

Training with Kefla and Goku wasn't easy at all. It was fucking hard. The two of them became demons when it came to training. Any time she tried to take a break, they'd just mention flying or try to irritate her into not giving up.

Each day, they woke her up at 4:30 am. They'd start with simple stretches to warm up before the training from hell starts. They'd have Bulma run from the hut to the base of the mountain and back up then, she had to do crunches, push-ups, squats, jumps and many more exercises. They go at it until 8:30 in the morning where they'd eat their breakfast, take thirty minutes rest before continuing again.

And if her training was hard, it was nothing compared to what Goku and Kefla did. If she did twenty normal pushups, they did more than a hundred pushups using only one finger. They'd run up and down the mountain several times while she'd manage to do it once and she needed an hour to do so! On and on it went.

She also saw Goku and Kefla spar a few times. It was incredible watching their fights. They were so fast, strong and skilled. It was no wonder that Saiyans could conquer planets if their children were this incredible and strong. If Goku and Kefla could shatter small boulders with their fists when they were this young, she shuddered to think about what they'd achieve when they were older.

Each day, after she finishes her training she'd sit and teach both Goku and Kefla. There was no way for them to learn everything that they should've learnt had they gone to school, but she tried to focus on the essentials. She started with the Alphabet, numbers and stuff like that. Kefla and Goku might give the impression that they were idiots because of living isolated from everyone else, especially Goku. However, when she started teaching them, they proved to be fast learners and were actually quite smart. Not as smart as her obviously but they weren't morons as she had feared.

Bulma now was sitting on a log resting after she finished her training for the day.

"You two are demons!"

Both of them just chuckled at her. "Why don't you try it today, Bulma?" asked Goku. "Just try to bring out your Ki into your hands."

Bulma perked up. She hadn't actually tried it since the day she felt the tug in her gut. That was a week ago and she wondered if that was enough.

'Only one way to find out.'

She cupped her hands together and concentrated. She thought about the day that Goku and Kefla had shown her how their Ki felt and brought back the feeling from that day. She felt the tug under her belly button. Like a small flame. She imagined it gathering in her hands.

"You did it, Bulma."

Bulma opened her eyes and gasped. In between her cupped hands was a ring of pale golden energy that glowed brightly. Bulma found herself smiling from ear to ear. "I did it! I finally did it!" she exclaimed in happiness as she gathered both Goku and Kefla in a hug.

"Congrats, Bulma!"

"You did it!"

"Can I fly now?" asked the excited Bulma.

Kefla chuckled. "Not yet. You need more training and more Ki before that." Making Bulma slump down, drawing circles on the dirt with her finger.

"Hey, Bulma!" Goku called out, gaining her attention. "If you want, I can carry you so you could see how flying is for yourself."

Bulma didn't need to think much about it to agree. It was difficult making herself comfortable on Goku's back since he was much shorter than her but they managed in the end.

"Are you ready, Bulma?"

"Yes!"

"Here we go!" Yelled Goku as he rocketed into the air.

"OH MY GOD!" Bulma squealed as Goku flew through the air. The feeling of the air rush all around her was incredible as she felt like she was free.

"You won't really enjoy it if you don't open your eyes, Bulma."

Bulma opened her eyes and gasped. It was an incredible sight. They were flying in between the clouds. She could see birds flying around them, the view from above was amazing. Like as if the whole scenery had come alive in a way that she had never seen before. It was a new perspective that she never had before in her life. She had flown before in a plane, but it was nothing like the view that she had right now and she figured flying on her own would be even more incredible.

After a few minutes of flying, they got back to the ground. Bulma tackled Goku with a hug.

"Thank you, Goku!"

Bulma couldn't wait to be able to fly on her own.

-]||[-

"Okay, time to start our journey then!"

Bulma stood wearing a new outfit different from the dress she wore when she had arrived. Part of her long purple hair was tied into a sideway ponytail. She wore a tight white blouse with a pair of orange ski goggles around her neck. She had an orange pant that was missing its right leg. She also had armoured pads on her left shoulder with orange warmers on her elbows and a pair of orange leathered gloves.

Bulma took out another Dyno-cap and threw it. The smoke disappeared revealing a four wheels car that was big enough for the three of them.

"I still say that you're a witch, Bulma." Said Goku, making her roll her eyes.

"Just get in."

-]||[-

"Give me a moment of privacy, please," Bulma said as she hurried away from the car. She felt embarrassed needing to pee just two hours after they started their journey. She scolded herself for not going to the bathroom just before they set out.

Just as she finished relieving herself and pulled out her pants, she felt something big land behind her. Slowly, she turned around only to see a giant pterodactyl staring at her with hungry eyes.

"… Hey?"

Bulma screamed as the pterodactyl lunged at her clutching her with his massive claws.

"Goku! Kefla! Help me!"

The pterodactyl didn't wait around as it flew in the air with Bulma.

"Shit! I don't want to become dinosaur food! Fuck you, Hammond!" Screamed Bulma.

"Hang in there!"

Bulma turned her head and smiled brightly as she saw both Goku and Kefla flying after the dinosaur. Kefla gathered a ball of red Ki in front of her palm and fired it at the pterodactyl. It impacted its head, blowing it to pieces as it released Bulma from its clutches.

"HEEEEELP!" Bulma screamed as she free fell from several hundred meters above the ground.

She didn't need to wait for rescue any longer as Goku sped up and caught her mid-air.

"I fucking hate dinosaurs!"

-]||[-

"What a big ass sea turtle," Bulma exclaimed as she examined the large green turtle that they happened to find.

They were on their third day of travel when Goku saw the turtle from far away. Interested, they came to check what the small slow-moving rock was, only to find out it was a massive sea turtle.

"Do you think it tastes good, Bulma?"

"I wonder what sea turtles taste like."

Of course, Goku and Kefla were more interested in eating it.

"P-Please don't eat me!"

"Of course it talks… What are you doing here away from the ocean?"

The turtle somehow managed to look sheepish. "Well, it's a long story, but if you want me to spare you the details… I got lost searching for mushrooms." The seat turtle explained. "P-Pardon me. If I might trouble you for a bucket of saltwater, maybe even a bit of seaweed, please?"

Bulma sighed. "Of course." It was an easy request for Bulma and a few minutes later, the sea turtle was finished drinking the water and filling its stomach with the seaweed.

"Thank you… Thank you so much!"

Sighing, Bulma took a look at the map. "You know, you have more than a hundred kilometres to reach the sea, and you're going in the wrong direction!"

The turtle gasped in horror. "A hundred!? I'll never reach it!"

Goku patted the turtle on its shell. "Poor Mr Turtle…"

"Maybe we could take him there, Bulma?" offered Kefla.

Bulma sighed again and pinched the bridge of her nose. She was half tempted to leave it there as it wasn't their problem, but she figured why not? She wasn't on schedule anyway and she was having fun. A little detour won't hurt anybody.

"Fine. Get him into the car."

"Thank you, everyone! You're too kind!"

-]||[-

"Wow! It's so beautiful!" Goku exclaimed as he stared at the vast ocean in front of them, making Bulma smile. Goku's happiness and laughter were always infectious. "I've never seen the sea before! It's so amazing! It's all blue and big and there should be tons of fish there!"

"Yeah, it is." Agreed Bulma

"I've seen the sea before, but it's always amazing to look at."

The turtle bowed its head. "Again, thank you very much! I'd not have made it home without your help!" The turtle was actually crying. "Please wait here. I'll come back with gifts to repay your kindness." The turtle said before jumping into the sea.

The trio stood silent for a moment before Bulma said. "Let's go then."

"The turtle said that it'll bring back gifts." Argued Goku.

"Just what kind of gifts do you think a turtle would bring?" asked Kefla.

Bulma shrugged. "Nothing really important. Come on, as they say. Do good and throw it into the sea. Let's continue our journey."

"Okay!"

A.N:

So, this is the second chapter of the fic, and the first one of the first arc done.

I'm sorry about the long wait, but like I've said in the first chapter I can't promise an update schedule as it depends on my muse, my real life and what I'm working on at the moment.

So, I decided that I'd post all three new chapters and the updated first chapter at the same time!

About this chapter. Kefla and Goku met for the first time! They fought at first, but got along very well after that. At this point, Kefla is slightly stronger than Goku and has more experience using Ki and fighting people, but that won't last forever.

Goku didn't hit his head, but still had no idea that he was a Saiyan since neither Gine or Bardock knew how to program the Attack Ball other than record a message for him.

They duo also met Bulma and got her interested in flying, Ki and Saiyans. Wonder where that interest will lead to.

Kefla will always refer to Goku as Kakarot, while Bulma will use Goku.

Bulma, Goku and Kefla don't take the Turtle seriously and so they miss meeting Master Roshi. Will they meet him in the future or not?

Anyway, for anyone who finished reading the chapter, thank you, and for those who liked it then please favourite, follow and leave a review.

Take care.
