Even with her ability to fly and her newfound strength, it had taken them more than two days to reach the city. Bulma's reserves weren't big enough for a continuous journey and her strength wasn't enough to fly faster. However, Bulma was more than satisfied with the experience. Flying was as amazing as she had imagined and more. Everything she went through in their journey and her training was more than worth the experience.

She had been slowly accustomed to her new body. At first glance, the only difference was that she now had a brown tail. But a closer look showed more changes. Her incisors were longer now, her hair silkier and sticking to the hairstyle that she had when she transformed. Kefla explained that she could style it differently, but it'd go back to that default state anytime she cut her hair or left it naturally. Saiyan hair was weird like that. She also could see for a much longer distance than normal, hear better, and even her smelling had been heightened.

She was also physically stronger. Her endurance, stamina, strength, reflexes and speed were all enhanced. Not at the exact same level as Goku and Kefla, but much better than what she had before. Her body's muscles felt more toned and stronger. Even her skin was harder, though thankfully it didn't lose its smoothness.

"Wow, this is your city, Bulma?" Goku asked in awe as soon as the city was visible to them. "It's so big!"

"Yup, this is your first time in such a big city, isn't it? What about you Kefla?"

"I've seen cities before on my journey, but only from afar. My scanner didn't give me any strong power levels from them, in fact, people seemed to be weaker there, so I just ignored them and continued my search."

Bulma nodded. "I see." She then pointed toward a tall red and grey tower. "See that tower? It's called Tongari Tower. And that tall blue building is the Wukong Hospital."

"Which one is your house, Bulma?" Goku asked.

Bulma grinned smugly as she pointed at a very large circular building. "That is my house and the headquarters of Capsule Corporation."

Both Kefla and Goku gawked at that. "THAT'S YOUR HOUSE?! It's bigger than Pilaf's castle!"

Indeed, Bulma's house was several times bigger than Pilaf's castle, and the land around it was vast as well. It was in the centre of the city as if the whole city was built around it, which wasn't that far from the truth. West City was a small town a long time ago around the time her father was born. After the success of Capsule Corporation and buying several houses and lands to expand the headquarters, the town started expanding more and more, turning into this massive metropolis. West City, while not the capital, had become the most important city on the planet.

Soon, they landed in front of the main gate. People around them gawked at seeing three kids just fly and touch down as if they were in a fantasy movie. Bulma snickered at their expressions as they began to whisper and point at them. She opened the gate and gestured for Goku and Kefla. "Welcome to Capsule Corp!"

-]||[-

They first met her father as they saw him sitting in the main living room, smoking a cigarette as usual. He was a short, stocky man. He had bluish-grey hair with a large grey moustache. He had a pair of glasses and he always wore his lab coat over his blue shirt and black pants.

"Daddy!" Bulma exclaimed happily as she launched herself at her father, hugging him tightly.

"Bulma?" Her father was surprised, but he quickly returned the hug. "You're back, huh?"

"Bulma!?" Her mother suddenly came in wearing an apron with a ladle in her hand.

Her mother was a beautiful woman with blue eyes, blonde hair and fair skin. She also hasn't changed even a bit since the day she got married to Bulma's father (And Bulma had seen the pictures of their wedding) more than twenty years ago. For a moment, Bulma idly wondered if her mother was a Saiyan.

Her mother immediately joined in the hug. They stayed there for a minute or two, enjoying each other's embrace after a while. Bulma was grateful for the journey as she met both Goku and Kefla, but she had missed her parents.

"This is Goku and Kefla. My best friends," Bulma introduced them to her parents after they stopped hugging each other.

"Well, hello young Goku, young Kefla," her father greeted gently.

Her mother bent down and ruffled their hair with a big warm smile. "Hey there, Goku, Kefla! Thank you for being Bulma's friends!" she exclaimed happily. "How about eating some food? Dinner is almost ready!"

Both Goku and Kefla's eyes widened at that. "Of course we'll eat, Bulma's mother!" said Goku.

"You're the best!"

Apparently, her mother already won both of them over by simply giving them food. Typical.

-]||[-

"And that's how it is."

Bulma had just finished telling her parents everything that happened to her over the course of the journey. Goku and Kefla were asleep in the room that she had provided for them after they finished their dinner. Her mother was astonished and more than happy to see the three of them (because Bulma was a Saiyan now and that meant a large appetite) devour her food. After that, Bulma started telling her parents about her journey leaving out nothing.

Bulma fidgeted in her place. She wasn't one to feel nervous or anxious most of the time, but she was afraid of her parents' reactions. Not every day you learn that your daughter had become another species.

"You're afraid that we're going to look at you differently, aren't you?" her mother asked gently. Bulma was always amazed by how perceptive her mother was for a person who appeared to be a bit of an airhead. She nodded slowly, appearing uncharacteristically nervous.

Her father chuckled while her mother smiled, opening her eyes a little. "Oh, Bulma sweetie. There is no way we'll look at you any different no matter what you've become!"

Her father nodded. "While I'm curious about you being a Saiyan now and the confirmed existence of a wish-granting device, I don't see why that would change how we look at you. You're our daughter Bulma, and you'll always be no matter what."

Bulma teared up at that, launching herself onto her mother and father, hugging them fiercely. Bulma was afraid most of her parent's reactions since she had made her wish, but their words and them hugging her back washed away any doubts that she had.

-]||[-

They hugged for a few minutes after that. Bulma had missed her parents, her mother always liked hugging and physical contact and her father always had a lot of free time for someone in his position.

"So, what's the plan for now?" asked her mother.

"There is a guy called Master Roshi. He's supposedly some big shot martial artist master or something. I'm going with Goku and Kefla to train there with him."

Her father raised an eyebrow. "You want to train in martial arts?"

Bulma shrugged. "I realised that I needed to learn how to defend myself in case something happens. Also, since becoming a Saiyan I've been getting a craving for training and fighting. I know it's nowhere as bad as Goku's and Kefla's and that I'll always be a scientist first, but it's an instinct that I have now that I can't completely ignore."

"Saiyans are really fascinating. I'd love to study and learn more about them."

Bulma nodded, understanding where her father was coming from. "Believe me, I'm the same. I'll leave some DNA samples that you can study and compare to my DNA samples in the database from where I was a human if you want," she offered. "If we can find a way, I'll leave a bit of Ki inside a container or something for you to study."

"Yes, that'd be helpful for sure. I wonder what we can do with that energy. If somehow we can make everyone access it and use it to power up our devices depending on how much power it can generate…" Her father said before he started muttering to himself, already lost in his own little world.

"Ah, by the way," said Bulma. "I want one of you to give Goku The Talk. I gave it to Kefla, but giving it to Goku would've been awkward!"

"Aren't they too young for that, Bulma?" asked her mother.

"No, they may look like they're seven, but Kefla is only a year younger than me while Goku is nearly two and a half years younger."

Her mother's eyes fully opened at that. "Really? How weird! In that case, I'd be more than willing to give young Goku the talk!" Her mother said, a weird gleam in her smiling eyes that made Bulma uncomfortable.

"You said that they were, at least as far as they are aware, the last of their race, that is, until you became one yourself, right?" her mother continued.

Bulma nodded, making her mother eyeing her strangely before muttering. "Interesting…"

Bulma was a little weirded out, so she excused herself to go and sleep a little. She was tired both physically and emotionally and needed good night sleep.

-]||[-

They spent a few more days at her house after that enjoying themselves and relaxing. Goku and Kefla had helped her finally get used properly to her newly enhanced senses and how to use, and protect her tail.

Bulma had also taken them out to show them around the city. Both were awed by it, never having experienced the life of the city, and enjoyed checking out the various entertainments and buildings. The people were also confused and fascinated by the two strangers who were running around with tails growing out of their butts alongside the heiress of the Capsule Corporation.

Goku and Kefla had both taken to helping Bulma, giving samples of their DNA and Ki to her father for further study. They also performed some tests that her father had created; like punching rocks and steel, fighting against some robots, testing how much they can lift, or their brain activity in various scenarios. They both said that they were weirded out a little, but they found it fun and so Bulma allowed them to continue helping. She wasn't going to force them to do anything.

The day after they arrived, Bulma had seen her mother dragging Goku with a weird smile on her face. She only saw Goku a few hours later, looking like he saw a ghost. When he saw her, his face turned completely red before he yelped and ran away, leaving her confused. She had asked her mother who appeared both happy and unconcerned. Her mother only told her not to worry and that Goku was just being shy.

Goku continued to act that way in front of her, Kefla, and her mother for two or three more days before he went back to normal so Bulma left it at that feeling that she was better off not knowing.

Now, it was time to leave again. They had just finished packing everything that they needed before sealing it in a few capsules, and now they were standing with her parents in front of the main building.

"You have everything that you need, sweetie?"

"Yes, mom."

"Don't forget to call us from time to time," her mother said as she hugged her before Bulma moved to hug her father.

"Of course!"

Her mother continued as she went to hug Kefla then Goku who yelped, blushing again. "And you two, don't forget to visit us again whenever you want! I'll happily cook for you again, and we can have so much fun!"

"Y-Yeah… of course," answered Goku.

"I'm sure we will." Was Kefla's answer.

"Come on, guys. It's time to go. Bye, mom, dad!"

Kefla and Goku both waved for them. "Goodbye, Bulma's father and mother!" before all three of them shot into the air flying towards Master Roshi's island.

-]||[-

As they landed on the little island, they noticed that Master Roshi was reading some kind of magazine and beside him stood a short young man with a bald head and six stars on his forehead. Said boy was nearly as tall as Goku and wore yellow and orange monk clothes. Though the most eye-catching feature of his was the lack of a nose.

The bald kid noticed them first as he turned around shocked by their sudden appearance. "I'm Krillin. Who are you? Are you also here to be disciples of the great Master Roshi?" He then took a hard look at Kefla and Bulma. "Though you two can't be disciples, I guess."

Kefla cocked an eyebrow while Bulma put her hands on her waists and glared at Krillin. "And why is that?"

Krillin gave her are-you-an-idiot look. "Because you're girls. Duh."

Kefla glared at him while Bulma shrieked. "WHAT? You think that we're weak because we're girls? Are you sexist as well as noseless?"

Krillin looked taken aback by her words. "Leave my nose out of this! Who said anything about girls being weak? It's that you generally like your hair!"

Goku was confused. "What does hair got to do with it, pachinko ball?"

Krillin took a step back. "How dare you? All those who aspire to master the martial arts shave their heads in order to unfetter their Ki! Obviously, girls who love their hair won't be able to do it! Take the venerable Master Roshi as your model!"

Master Roshi finally got his face out of his magazine as he looked toward them. "Actually… I'm just bald."

….

…..

Krillin fell to his knees, his hands on the ground supporting his body as he yelled in despair. "I shaved my hair for no reason! Those bastards at the temple lied to me!" He cried out for his lost hair.

Goku and the rest couldn't help themselves as they fell down laughing. It took them a few minutes to calm down as well for Krillin to stop his pouting.

"As fun as that was, I believe it's time we got to the main issue here," Master Roshi said before he looked at them properly. "I see that you two have decided to come here. Finished your journey, eh?" At their nod, he continued. "Well, if you want me to train you then you better bring me a hottie or there will be no training from me!" Before Goku could ask what a hottie was, Bulma hit Master Roshi on his head.

"Like hell we are! You asked these two to train them. They won't bring you any poor girl for you, you damn old pervert! You'll train us just as promised." Exclaimed Bulma, her eyes narrowing and her teeth turning as sharp as a shark's. Goku wondered if it was some kind of technique that she could use and if he could learn it.

Master Roshi rubbed his injured head as he glared at Bulma. "Well, the promise was for these two, not you. I don't have to train you now, do I?"

Bulma simply smirked and crossed her hands under her chest. "Oh? Are you saying that you don't want to train me? I guess I wasted my time preparing special clothes just for your training."

Master Roshi suddenly had a smile that weirded Goku out as a bit of blood fell from Roshi's nose. He heard Kefla mutter something about "Pervert" and Bulma saying "Gotcha" but he didn't fully understand what was happening.

"Oh… I guess I was being a little hasty. Fine, I guess I'll give you the privilege of training under the great Master Roshi!" He declared, pushing his chest out.

"What about me?" Interjected Krillin.

Master Roshi just waved him off. "I guess I can train you as well while I'm at it." Causing the boy to exclaim in joy.

-]||[-

"Now, take a few steps back. I'm going to turn the house back into a capsule to bring it with us," Ordered Master Roshi.

"Why? We're not going to train here?" Asked Bulma.

Roshi deadpanned at her. "You didn't think that we're going to train on this small island, did you?" He said pocketing the house's capsule before taking out another one and throwing it in the water.

POP!

Revealing a boat big enough for all of them. "Now, get on and let's go."

-]||[-

The fivesome rode the boat for a few hours before their destination was in sight. An island much, much bigger than Roshi's and it seemed that they weren't the only humans (and Saiyans) there as Bulma could see a village and other buildings throughout the island from where she was.

She apparently wasn't the only one. "There are other people on this island, Master Roshi," said Goku.

"Yes. About 300 people live on this island."

A few minutes later, they were standing in front of Kame House in its new location. Bulma on the other hand had taken care to use one of her capsules to set up a house for her and her friends. She wasn't going to sleep with the old pervert in the same house.

Bulma noticed Kefla thinking deeply about something, but Goku beat her to the punch and asked her first.

"What is it, Kefla?"

"I feel like we are forgetting something or someone…"

Meanwhile at Master Roshi's island:

Turtle looked in confusion at the empty island. The Kame House was nowhere in sight. Turtle has just returned from his vacation to find the island deserted.

"Master?" He yelled, hoping that Roshi was somewhere. "Master Roshi? Great Master Roshi?" Yet no one answered him.

He tried the one thing that Roshi would never pass if he was around. "I brought a sexy young lady who wants to see you, Master Roshi!"

Again. No answer.

"Where the hell is he?"

Back at Bulma's and the others' location:

Roshi just waved her off. "The fact that we've forgotten about it means it's unimportant."

Kefla was about to agree with him when both her stomach and Goku's rumbled loudly. "I think we forgot lunch."

Meanwhile in another place:

A blue-haired, blue-eyed innocent looking girl stared in confusion at two police officers who were pointing their guns at her.

"O-Okay Lunch! Y-You're under arrest! D-Don't do anything scary!" Said the first officer.

"W-We'll shoot!"

Suddenly, the girl had a weird feeling. Like someone was talking about her.

"Achoo!"

Suddenly, the girl's expression changed to that of rage. Her blue hair turned blonde while her eyes turned green from the sheer rage contained in the small girl's body.

Super Human Lunch has entered the chat.

"What the fuck did you just say to me?" She snarled as she pulled a gun out of nowhere.

The cops could only yelp in fear as they faced the legendary monster.

Back at Bulma's and the others' location:

Roshi tutted. "First, we jump into a little quick training before we eat."

Krillin, ever the brown-noseless brat that he was, bowed to Roshi. "We are honoured, Sensei."

"We just arrived, old man!" Complained Bulma.

Roshi shook his head as he mentioned for them to follow. "My training regime isn't easy at all. If you can't train hard then you better go home. It's just a quick exercise to see where you guys are at."

After a two minute walk, they reached a small boulder that Master Roshi stopped at. He pointed at a faraway tree. "It's exactly one hundred meters from this boulder to that tree over there. How many seconds will it take you to run it?"

He continued. "Not that a fast runner automatically makes a good martial artist, but it's never a bad thing to have a set of strong legs, you know?"

Krillin stepped forward, hand on his hips. "Heh heh heh… Let me go first. I'll show you legs good enough to qualify for the Olympics… If I wanted," he declared arrogantly.

Roshi shrugged and made his way toward the finishing line, standing beside the tree. "Ready?" He said as Krillin positioned himself at the starting line. "Set… Go!"

Krillin launched himself into a fast run, his arms swaying back and forth as he ran as fast as he could. Bulma was surprised by the speed the little shrimp was displaying as he reached the finishing line. She was certainly surprised when Master Roshi announced the result.

"Unbelievable! 100 meters in 10.4 seconds!" Declared Master Roshi. "What a feat! And what feet you have there!"

Krillin panted as he stuck another confident pose. "Humph, 10.4, eh? My personal best is 10.1 seconds but I guess it's not too bad under the circumstances."

Bulma rolled her eyes at the obvious attempt, but she had to admit that the little shrimp was impressive.

"Way to go, Krillin!" Goku praised.

"Not bad at all," said Kefla. "Though you have nothing on me!"

Krillin narrowed his eyes at her. "Really? Why don't you show us then?"

Kefla quickly took her place at the start line ignoring Goku's protest that it was his turn.

"Go!"

Kefla started her run as soon as she heard that. She was fast, faster than Krillin. She ran so fast that Roshi's beard swayed from the wind she generated.

"… 8 point… 3 seconds…?" Roshi half declared, half asked.

Krillin goggled at Kefla. "W-What kind of training did you have?..."

Goku happily patted her on the back. "That was great, Kefla, but I'm faster!"

Kefla narrowed her eyes at him, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "Oh, yeah? Why don't you show us then, Kakarot?"

Goku happily went to the starting line. Just like Kefla, he didn't bother taking a proper running position as Krillin did. As soon as the old man cried out "Go!" he was moving as fast as Kefla did. Soon enough, he crossed the finishing line and was waiting for Roshi to tell him his results.

"… 8 point 1 seconds!"

Goku jumped in glee. "See that, Kefla?"

The girl in question just crossed her arms and averted her face, muttering unhappily.

"Now, it's your turn, rich girl," said Roshi.

Bulma slowly made her way to the starting line. She was feeling anxious after seeing the results of the other three kids.

She took a deep breath and recollected herself, focusing on the test ahead.

"Go!"

She launched herself as fast as she could. A foot after the other, she was running forward pushing her body as far as she could. She was a Saiyan now, she knew, but unlike Goku and Kefla she was still like a newborn. She was weaker in every aspect and her past of luxury didn't exactly give her a decent base. In fact, if it wasn't for the fact she was a Saiyan now, she'd have no chance at all.

Soon enough, she crossed the finishing line. Bulma stopped, panting a little as she waited for Roshi's verdict.

"Hoo? That's an unexpected score. 10.1 seconds! Splendid!"

Bulma's eyes widened in shock. She wasn't near Goku or Kefla but she ran faster than Krillin! She hadn't expected such a good result, and neither did Krillin who was staring at her in shock. Goku and Kefla simply smiled and patted her back congratulating her, making her feel warm.

"Well, now… That was incredible… All of you were quite amazing, but you're still within human limits! In order to become a master of martial arts, you must break the wall of humanity! That is the challenge."

Roshi took off his turtle shell, handing the timer to Krillin. "Krillin, clock my time for me. It seems that I have to take things up a notch more than what I intended to show."

Krillin seemed surprised. "Venerable master. You're going to run too?"

All of them stood in anticipation, waiting to see how fast the old master was going to be.

"Whenever you're ready," called out Roshi, not bothering to take any stance at all.

"All right… get ready… set…" Krillin yelled out then. "Go!"

Roshi ran at a blinding speed, and in what seemed to be a blink of an eye he was past the finish line. He didn't even look winded. In fact, he looked as if he hadn't tried.

"How many seconds was that?" He asked nonchalantly.

Krillin looked about to pass out from shock. "T-T-T-Three… Point… Two seconds!"

"What!?" Bulma screamed in shock. Roshi clearly didn't give it his all and yet he crushed the world's best number by a landslide. She had thought that the old codger was full of it, despite seeing his Kamehameha wave from a while ago. She wondered if they'd reach this level too. That would be incredible since the old man wasn't even using Ki.

To think that humans can reach this level without even using ki!

"3.2, eh?" Roshi chuckled as he wore his turtle shell again. "That was what I mean by breaking the wall of humanity. At your age, with training and discipline, you should be able to break the 5 seconds mark. Maybe even come near my number."

Goku and Kefla looked excited at that, staring at the old master with obvious admiration. "Old timer, you're amazing!" They exclaimed together, making Roshi chuckle.

Bulma heard Krillin mutter. "And to think that I feared that Master Roshi was just an old lech!" echoing Bulma's earlier thoughts.

-]||[-

"The sun has begun to set…" declared Roshi dramatically. "Soon, dinner time will be upon us!" he said, making Goku, Kefla and even Bulma gulp as they felt their hunger rise at the reminder.

He continued. "The real training will begin in earnest tomorrow morning. But, before we adjourn for the night, I'll test you one more time."

"Are we going to run again, old man?" Asked Goku.

"There might be a foot race, yes. However, that will not be all," he said before he knelt down and picked up a small rock. He took out a permanent marker and scribbled something on it. Then, he showed it to them, showing that the rock had "亀" on it that meant turtle. "Look at this rock closely. Memorize it well."

"Y-Yes, but…" trailed Krillin, not understanding the point of this.

"What are you going to do with it?" Asked Goku, pointing at the small rock.

Kefla's eyes narrowed. "I'm not sure where you are going with that, old man."

Roshi walked toward the edge of the cliff. Bulma's eyes widened as she understood what the old man was going to do. She made sure to focus, paying attention to his every move.

"I'm going to do, this!" he exclaimed as he threw the rock hard. The rock sailed in the air and fell into the dense jungle on the far side of the island.

"Heh… quite the distance, eh?" Said the old man smugly.

Kefla looked dumbfounded at his action. "Is it a rock-throwing contest, old man?"

"I really don't get your training, Master Roshi," added Goku.

Roshi chuckled evilly. "No, lads. It's not a rock-throwing contest. It's a rock finding contest."

"Huh?"

Krillin began to sweat a little. "Y-You don't mean that we have to f-find the rock you just t-threw…" stuttered Krillin.

"Is this all, old man?" said Bulma. Unhappy that her prediction had come true.

"Is that all, you say… It takes a lot of mental power and constitution to find such a small object in a dense jungle-like that. Let alone the stamina needed to endure a search in a jungle-like that," he chuckled again. "There is only one winner. Only the winner will be allowed to eat dinner today," he finished, making the four of them gulp in fear. Food was a serious business, especially after not eating lunch, and that went doubly so when it came to the Saiyans.

"To make it even more challenging," Roshi smirked as he looked at his watch. "You only got thirty minutes to bring back that rock or else none of you will be eating dinner tonight. Now… Go!"

The quartet panicked as they bolted into action, reaching the edge of the cliff.

Krillin balked at the height, cursing. "Damn it! There aren't any footholds! We'll have to go around."

The Saiyan trio only smirked and jumped off the cliff, using their Ki to slow their fall and land gracefully at the ground and started running each in a different direction, leaving a shocked Krillin.

-]||[-

"Are those guys even human?" asked Krillin as he stared at the trio who took off. His stomach suddenly rumbled loudly, breaking him out of his stupor.

"Shit! They've gotten way ahead of me! I have to take the long way down." He made to run again before he suddenly stopped.

"Wait a minute, no one could find that rock in 30 minutes in that jungle…" he worked his brain furiously for a solution. After a few moments, he smirked smugly as a plan formed in his head. He looked around for a few moments before finding his target. He picked up a similar-sized rock and made his way towards the nearby village stopping in front of one of the houses.

"Excuse me," he said as he knocked on the door.

A middle-aged woman appeared. "Can I help you?"

Krillin asked to borrow a permanent mark which the helpful woman handed over without a question. He scribbled down the same symbol that Master Roshi wrote on the rock. Satisfied with his work, he thanked the woman after returning the pen.

He stopped behind a small hill near the house. "I have to make it believable as if I've worked hard to find it."

He started to pretend that he was tired, huffing and panting as he ran to Master Roshi. "Master Roshi!" he exclaimed, holding up the rock for all to see. "I've finally… huff, huff… found it!"

"Really, Krillin? That was certainly quick!" Master Roshi said as he took the rock from him.

"Let's see… Let's see…" He muttered as he examined the rock while Krillin smiled smugly at his ingenious plan. His smug look was wiped off as he yelped in pain when Master Roshi threw the rock at him.

"Did you think that you could fool me? That's not my handwriting! Now, go find the real one!" he shouted at him, making Krillin gulp as he started running toward the forest.

-]||[-

Bulma bolted as soon as his legs touched the ground. Unlike the other two, she wasn't running without a purpose. She had calculated a rough estimate of where the rock had likely fallen and dashed into that direction.

It took her a few minutes before she reached the general area. "It should be around here… Maybe if I search for the old man's scent…"

Her enhanced sense of smell was the thing that she had trouble adjusting to the most after becoming a Saiyan. Smelling all kinds of unpleasant scents and recognising people by their scent wasn't something that she asked for or wanted. It was, however, very useful in this kind of situation.

It took her a few moments to catch the scent and a few more to find the rock. Smiling to herself, happy that she was going to eat dinner, she floated above the treeline before she flew towards the house.

"Sorry, Kefla, Goku. It's your fault that you made me want to be a Saiyan. I won't be sleeping without dinner!"

As she neared the house, Bulma noticed Krillin talking with Roshi. Through her enhanced hearing, she could hear the entire thing. She chuckled when Roshi threw the rock at Krillin and sent him off.

It was a decent plan, but foolish. The old man was clearly only old in terms of looks. He won't be fooled by something that simple.

Bulma landed in front of him, presenting the rock.

"Oh, what do we have here?" Roshi examined the rock for a few minutes. "That's actually the real one! How did you manage it this quickly?"

Bulma smirked smugly. "I've paid attention to you throwing it; the direction, your height, the size of the rock… etc. I put out a rough estimate of the distance and just followed the same direction. After that, it was just a simple task of searching the general area."

Roshi raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Well, you're quite the clever one, aren't you lass? Very well… You're the winner. We'll wait until the others are back for now."

-]||[-

Goku was confused. He had been sniffing for the rock that Master Roshi had thrown for a while now, but he couldn't find it. He was sure it was in the area since he could still smell Master Roshi's scent on it, but the scent was getting weaker.

He heard a twig snap behind him. Turning around, Goku saw a big bear that was trying to sneak upon him. Seeing that Goku had noticed him, the bear pounced on Goku who jumped over it to avoid it. Goku landed behind it and grabbed one of its legs before he threw it over his shoulder into the ground, the sound of the bear's spine breaking was heard in the area. The bear released a howl of pain, but it didn't have time to properly process its pain before its head was blown off by a small Ki blast from Goku.

Goku glared at the bear's corpse. "That's what you get for sneaking up on me!"

He heard a bush rustle nearby and he got ready to fight. The one who emerged was Kefla, however.

They glared at each other. They were great friends, sure, but this was a situation of food or no food. It was more serious than a life-death situation for a Saiyan.

"So, you've reached the area before me, Kakarot."

Goku took a fighting stance, readying himself. "Sorry, Kefla, but I'll be the one to eat dinner."

Before they could say more, they suddenly heard Krillin's screams. A moment later, he busted out of the trees with two massive Triceratopses chasing after him. Krillin kept running, not noticing them, his eyes closed.

"Krillin, watch out!" Cried out Goku as Krillin was running toward a big boulder since he had his eyes closed.

Krillin opened his eyes. "Ah, shit!" And panicked for a moment before he smirked. He ran even faster, and just as he was about to crash into the boulder, he jumped up, avoiding it. The first Triceratops wasn't as lucky as its horns sank into the boulder when it hit its head into it releasing a groan of pain. Cracks appeared on the boulder, but it held for now. Krillin didn't waste any time as he landed before crashing with all his might into the trapped Triceratops' rear, making it move slightly to the side.

It was enough as the second Triceratops couldn't stop in time and crashed into the first one, its horns sinking into the first Triceratops' side killing it in a shower of blood as it released howls of agony. It didn't stop there as the charge caused the boulder to break into pieces, taking one of the first Triceratops horns with it as it flew off.

Krillin jumped, catching the broken horn before he bounced on the second Triceratops that was trying to free itself from the first one's side. He rammed the horn into the second one's neck. A lot of blood flew from the wound as the beast cried out in agony, but it didn't matter as it was dead a few moments later.

"That was great, Krillin," said Goku as he approached his fellow disciple.

Kefla nodded. "It seems that I underestimated you a little. You're not totally useless."

Krillin fell to the ground panting. "Thanks, guys," he said. "I couldn't do anything to it with my fists and needed something sharp to actually do some damage, but I had nothing. They tore through trees easily, so that boulder was god sent!"

"You did well. We could've taken care of them if you hadn't," Goku reassured him. Killing a dinosaur with his bare hand was something that he did easily.

"So, none of you had found the rock yet?" asked Krillin as he stood up.

Goku and Kefla remembered what was at stake as each jumped in a different direction. All three of them now stood in their respective fighting stances eyeing the other.

"Wait…" Suddenly, Krillin called out. "Where is that girl that was with you? Bulma is her name, right?"

Kefla and Goku suddenly froze. They have just realised what was happening. What they've missed, being focused on Master Roshi's scent. There was another scent here: Bulma's scent. Bulma had been here and if she had been and Master Roshi's scent was fading, then it meant one thing.

Kefla and Goku looked at each other in horror. "Bulma took the rock!" before they bolted back toward the house, hoping to catch up with her.

Behind them, Goku could hear Krillin yelling at them. "Wait for me!"

-]||[-

Krillin hid a snicker as he watched Kefla and Goku glare at the smug Bulma. Both of them had their arms around their stomachs as they growled loudly while watching Bulma finish yet another plate. It wasn't like he wasn't hungry himself, but he wasn't suffering as bad as the other two seemed to be.

He noticed their brown tails move again.

These things can move…

"You know, I have a question for you three," said Krillin. "I've been thinking about it since we've met. Why do you guys wear monkey tails? Is that the latest fashion in the city or something? How are they moving anyway?"

"Our tails?" Goku tilted his head in confusion. He stood up and brought his pants down showing his butt to Krillin. "They're real."

Krillin was taken aback for a moment by Goku's action before he actually saw that Goku's tail was growing out of Goku's lower back.

"Goku! Don't go showing your butt to everyone!" Bulma scolded him.

It took a moment for Krillin's mind to process it, and when it did. "It's a real tail!" Krillin cried out in shock.

"Of course it's real," said Kefla. "What did you think it was?"

"I don't know! A cosplay item or something like that! Why do you guys have a tail anyway?"

"Because we're Saiyans," Kefla answered as a matter-of-fact.

"And what is a Saiyan, young lady?" It was Master Roshi who asked before Krillin could.

Goku, who just finished being scolded by Bulma, was the one to answer. Goku said, his palms open and facing each other. "Aliens!"

It was the wrong time for Master Roshi and Krillin to take a sip of their drinks as they bathed each other when they did a spit take at that proclamation.

Krillin goggled as he stared at the three of them, watching their expressions. "Are you serious? You're not joking are you?"

Kefla shook her head. "No. Saiyans are a warrior race from outer space."

"Oh, my. I heard from Gohan that he had picked up a strange ferocious child, but I didn't imagine that you were an alien, Goku," said Master Roshi while massaging his beard. Krillin was silent as he processed the idea that aliens were real. Master Roshi continued. "But, can you tell us more about these Saiyans? Why are you here on Earth?"

And they proceeded to tell them; about their race, their planet, its fate and everything they knew about Saiyans. Krillin had listened to it all, struggling to comprehend that a race so similar looking to humans existed in outer space. The talk about conquering planets and the destruction of a whole planet. It was a tall tale, but he believed them. He might not have known them for a long time now, but they didn't seem to be liars.

"Y-You two…" Started Krillin nervously. "You weren't sent to conquer the planet, right?"

Kefla shook her head. "No, we were sent here to escape our planet's destruction. We have no such intentions."

Master Roshi chuckled. "What about you, Bulma? Want to conquer the planet? You were the least involved in the conversation, leaving Kefla and Goku to explain everything."

"Ah, that's because I only became a Saiyan recently."

Krillin tilted his head in confusion. "You became a Saiyan? How does that work? Could humans become Saiyans like that? Is it like how they say that humans were originally monkeys?"

Krillin yelped in pain as Bulma bonked him on his head. "Of course not! Evolution doesn't work like that, you moron! I became a Saiyan after I wished for that with the Dragon Balls."

"Oh? Is that what you used the Dragon Balls for?" Asked Master Roshi in surprise.

"Wait! The Dragon Balls are real!?" Exclaimed Krillin in shock.

"Yup, they're real." Answered Goku enthusiastically. "The balls summoned a really big dragon, and it granted Bulma her wish!"

Krillin's shoulders slumped. "Man, I missed some fun adventures, it seems."

Goku patted his back comfortingly. "Hey, we're going after them next year when they recharge, so you can come then!"

Master Roshi coughed. "Well, that was informative and all. Krillin," Master Roshi said, looking at him. "Have you had any training in martial arts before?"

Krillin nodded. "Yes, Master Roshi. I've trained for eight years at the temple before I came here."

Master Roshi nodded approvingly. "Good. What about you three?"

"Grandpa Gohan taught me a few things before he… died."

Kefla was the next to answer. "I didn't train like that. I just fought other people and strengthened my body, that's all."

"I've never really trained before I met Goku and Kefla," answered Bulma.

Master Roshi nodded, stroking his beard. "I see. Well, we have twelve months before the next Tournament… I can include some basic moves and training in your schedule, but for the next ten months, we'll focus on training your body as much as we can. After that, we can focus on the basics for the last two months."

Bulma interrupted. "There are few things that we need," she said, holding up a finger. "First, I'm teaching Goku and Kefla to bring their knowledge to an acceptable level. I can guess that Krillin might need it too since he spent a lot of time at the temple apparently."

"Well, knowledge is important. Training your mind is as important as training your body. However, is a young lass such as yourself good enough to teach them? Shouldn't I do it?"

Bulma glared at Master Roshi. "I'll have you know that not only I'm a genius and my dad's right hand at Capsule Corporation, but I already had three PhDs too. I'm more than qualified to teach them all they need to know to survive and be productive members of society!"

"Wait, you're Dr Briefs' daughter?" Asked Krillin in surprise. This day was just so full of surprises for him.

Bulma crossed her arms and nodded smugly. "Yes, I am!"

"What brings a rich heiress like you to this place or meeting those guys?" Asked Krillin, referring to Goku and Kefla.

"Fate," answered Bulma cryptically.

"Well, I guess you're suited for it… What other things did you want to say?" Asked Master Roshi as he went back to drinking his drink.

"Well, I learnt a spell called Transformation during our journey. It seems that I didn't lose my affinity for magic after becoming a Saiyan. I was wondering if an old guy like you knew some stuff about magic to teach me or at least where to find knowledge about it."

Magic is real? Wondered Krillin in shock. It seemed that day wasn't done with all the surprise revelations.

"Well, I have a sister who's great at magic. I can get in contact with her and see if she'd teach you, but I have to warn you. Her services don't come in cheap at all," said Master Roshi.

Bulma just waved him off. "Money isn't a problem for me. As for the last thing… We need to go to a remote location each time there is a full moon."

Both Krillin and Master Roshi raised their eyebrows in surprise. "Full moon? What for?" asked Roshi.

It was Kefla who answered. "Only when there is a full moon, and we actually look at it directly for more than a second, do Saiyans have the ability to transform into a giant monkey-like creature we call the Ōzaru."

Krillin and Master Roshi did a spit-take for the second time that night. "Transform into a giant monkey? At a full moon?"

Kefla nodded. "Yes. It's kind of the Saiyans trump card. It's not becoming another creature or gaining massive size, but it's that form's ability to increase our power several times. However, without training the Saiyan will lose his sense and start attacking everything and everyone around him."

Master Roshi nodded in understanding. "Ah, so you wish to be able to control your Ōzaru form so you won't rampage accidentally?"

Kefla nodded again, giving Goku a quick look that Krillin almost missed. "Yes. I can control it well already, but Kakarot can't since he hadn't trained with him being unaware of being a Saiyan. Bulma too can't control it since she only just became a Saiyan."

"I see," said Master Roshi. "Well, I can't fault you for wanting to train in controlling it. If it's only whenever there is a full moon, then I don't see any problem with it. I will help you as well."

The trio bowed their head to him. "Thank you, Master Roshi/Old Man."

Master Roshi clapped his hands together. "Well, you guys better go to sleep. You're going to start your training tomorrow at an early hour." Everyone just muttered their agreements. Those who didn't eat were still holding their stomachs as Goku and Kefla left Kame house to the house that Bulma had sat up. Krillin on the other hand went to the room that Master Roshi had given him.

-]||[-

Kefla and the others were all standing in front of Kame House waiting for Master Roshi to start their training. He had woken them up early, but she and Goku were clearly used to that. Bulma and Krillin on the other hand looked like death had warmed over them.

"Are we going to wake up every day at 4:30 am, old man?" asked a half-asleep Bulma.

"Of course. I told you my training will be hard," he said before he gained a tick mark. "And call me either Master Roshi or Roshi-sensei when I'm training ya!" He then gestured at Bulma who was wearing a tracksuit. "And where are these special clothes that you promised?"

Bulma smirked at him. "These are my special clothes. It's not my fault that you're a perverted old man and thought of something else."

Master Roshi grumbled, muttering something under his breath that even she couldn't hear, making everyone laugh at him.

After a few moments, they stopped as Master Roshi stood in front of them with a serious expression on his face.

"At last, you'll begin your training at the Kame-Sen School bujutsu. The arts of the Turtle Master. But first, let me just say a few words about martial arts," said Master Roshi and everyone stood straight, paying attention to the legendary martial artist for once.

The Turtle hermit cleared his throat, putting his hands behind his back. "One doesn't study martial arts in order to win a fight or woo girls." He looked pointedly at Krillin who sweated a little, chuckling nervously. "One masters those arts for health in mind and body, for the ability to live one's life as courageously, uniquely, and energetically as one wishes."

He held up a finger. "But! If there are any who seek to terrorize you or any other decent people with undeserved power, you must defeat such enemies with everything you got!" He finished passionately.

"Do you understand so far?"

Everyone nodded at that.

Roshi nodded in satisfaction. "Enough talking then, let's train," he said before he took off, jogging lightly. "First, some light jogging. Stay with me."

The four of them followed Master Roshi, easily keeping up with him. Kefla frowned though. If this is the training, then we're wasting our time here. After a few minutes of jogging, they reached a house that had the word 'Milk' written on its side in big letters when Master Roshi called for a halt. A cow or bull-man was exiting the garage, putting a crate of milk on another when he noticed them.

"Good morning," Master Roshi greeted. "I'm Kame-Sennin. I'm the one who called yesterday."

The other person perked up. "Oh, yes, right, right! Thank you so much for volunteering!" He then handed Master Roshi a piece of paper. "Here is a map of the delivery route."

All of them watched confusedly as Master Roshi took the paper and nodded his head. He turned toward them. "Alright, each one of you pick up a crate," he said pointing at the pile of the Milk crates, now numbered four in total. "We're going to deliver some milk!"

The four of them tilted their heads, staring at the old master in confusion. Krillin was the one to voice their thoughts.

"That's what we're doing? Delivering milk?"

Master Roshi nodded. "Yup! It'll be good exercise."

The cow man took a step back, balking at what Master Roshi just suggested. "Wait, you're going to do it on foot?" He pointed toward a helicopter that was parked beside the house. "You aren't going to use that?"

Master Roshi waved him off. "Don't be silly. If we did that, it wouldn't be training!" He mentioned to them, ignoring the shocked man behind him. "Now! After me! We'll do the 2 kilometres to the first house… skipping. Go!"

The quartet trotted down the path after their Master who took the lead while singing some tone. It wasn't easy carrying the crate and keeping the milk bottles from falling at the same time as they skipped their way to their first delivery. Both she and Kakarot were only sweating lightly while Krillin was breathing a little harder, his face full of sweat. Bulma was in a state between Krillin and them. Krillin swapped the empty milk bottle with a full one with a sigh.

"All right. You've got all the empties, right? Now for the next kilometre," said Master Roshi before he pointed at a path lined with trees. "See this tree-lined path?" He pointed at it using his stick. "We'll run zig-zags down it. Better keep up and don't fall behind. We want the milk to stay fresh and not go sour or else there will be punishments!"

Kefla and the rest followed Master Roshi's instructions, fearing another night of no food. Master Roshi continued singing the same song as he ran zig-zags ahead of them without showing any sign of tiredness. Not even a single bead of sweat. Not soon enough, they finished the path arriving at their destination. Kefla and Kakarot actually started showing signs of being tired while Bulma and Krillin started lagging behind them.

Master Roshi chuckled at their state and pointed toward a long set of stairs that led up a mountain. "Next up, we're climbing these stairs… But I suppose you don't have to do this at a run."

It took them a little while, but she and Kakarot managed to reach the top first. Kefla had to use her tail, wrapping around Bulma, to prevent her from falling to the ground from exhaustion. Both Kefla and Goku were breathing really hard and feeling really exhausted. They noticed Master Roshi sitting on a rock and casually smoking his pipe.

"So, even you two get tired, eh?" He asked with a chuckle, clearly enjoying their suffering.

Two minutes later, both Krillin and Bulma managed to make it to the top before they collapsed.

"You've made it, you two," said Master Roshi jovially. "What memories," he said, seemingly lost in thought as he looked over the village below from the top of the mountain. "Long ago, Son Gohan and Ox-King delivered milk just as you're doing now…"

Kakarot perked up. "Really? My grandpa did this too? Wow!"

An older monk from the temple on top of the mountain that Kefla hadn't noticed yet stepped forward. "My, my. Thank you very much," he said with a pleased tone. "Training, venerable Master Roshi? It sure has been a long time. And four students at the same time? That's a rare thing for you, isn't it?"

Master Roshi nodded. "Yes, yes. It's been a while, hasn't it? How are you, child?"

The monk smiled happily. "I'm fine, and you look as healthy as usual, Master Roshi. How goes these lads' training?"

"Well, they only started recently, but I can feel that all of them have quite some potential."

All four of them perked up at that, smiling happily that the old Master had recognised that they had the talent. She, Kakarot and Krillin were more expressive of their joy as usual.

"As long as they keep up their training diligently, they may be able to enter the World Tournament 12 months from now," said Master Roshi.

The old monk looked shocked. "Oh, the Tenka'ichi Budōkai, eh?"

Krillin took a step back with visible shock. "The Strongest Under The Heavens?! I wasn't paying much attention yesterday, but this was the tournament that you referred to?"

Kefla tilted her head, looking at the sweating Krillin. She didn't know what the big deal with the tournament was, but it was Kakarot who voiced her thoughts. "Huh? What's that?"

Krillin brought his fists together, looking visibly excited. "It's a tournament that gathers the strongest martial artists from around the world to decide who is the strongest under the heavens! It's an awesome tournament!"

Both of Kefla's and Kakarot's eyes widened in excitement at that. They looked at each other, their eyes visibly sparkling. There was no way they were going to pass up joining a tournament like that. As a Saiyan, the existence of such a tournament was nearly as good as a big piece of tasty meat!

"Huh, the Tenka'ichi Budōkai… I think I heard of it before," said Bulma, looking mildly interested herself.

Krillin looked at Master Roshi with a hopeful look. "D-Do you really think we'll be good enough to enter it?"

Master Roshi nodded. "If you train without shirking, then yes."

"Bring it on, Old Man!" Exclaimed Kefla.

Goku pumped his fist in the air. "I'm going to be the strongest!"

Master Roshi continued. "However, your goal is not to aim for the title. Life just isn't that easy. I simply feel that if you have a goal such as entering a great tournament like this one, you'll work much harder on your training."

Master Roshi's words, however, fell on deaf ears as both Kakarot and Kefla were butting heads after Goku's last declaration, arguing who's going to be stronger between them.

Master Roshi sighed. "The milk is getting warm, so we better continue our delivery."

The quintet continued their journey delivering the milk to the people on the island. The journey only continued to grow harder and harder as they walked across a big fallen tree to cross a valley between mountains, walked through a desert with moving sand, ran away from dinosaurs, and crossed a river with a very strong current. At the end of their journey, the four of them were sprawled on the ground, utterly exhausted. Meanwhile, Master Roshi stood as if he had just started his day.

"W-we're finally done," said Goku, panting heavily.

Master Roshi simply chuckled. "Done? Why yes, we just finished our early morning training. Now, we have to start our morning training routine."

After that, Master Roshi had them bring back the empty bottles to the same house they visited in the morning before they ran another ten minutes reaching a vast clearing that had several fields in it.

Master Roshi pointed his stick at the fields. "Morning training consists of ploughing these fields," he said before he talked with a bald man tilling his field for a while before he came back to them. "Come on, don't dilly dally. The longer you take, the longer breakfast is delayed!"

The quartet didn't need any more motivation as they hurried to pick up the tools to start their work, but they were stopped by Master Roshi. "What are you doing? You can't use the hoes!"

They looked at him with confusion. "Huh?"

"This exercise is for your arms and hands too, not just your legs. You'll plough these fields barehanded!"

Always the first to react. Krillin took a step back, his eyes goggling at the old master. "W-What? With our bare hands?"

"Seriously? Do you expect me to do that, old man?" Bulma screeched, glaring at Master Roshi. "My hands and nails would be ruined!"

Master Roshi bonked her head with his staff. "You want to learn martial arts and yet you care about such things? Get to work or you won't be eating breakfast!"

"Don't worry, Bulma," Kefla said as she moved closer to her friend. "Your hands will heal well, being a Saiyan, and your nails would be too hard for them to be broken by such a thing."

Mollified, but not totally satisfied, Bulma muttered under her breath before she followed the others' lead as they started working on the fields. The quartet began digging their own trenches of dirt, parting the soil to the side to allow for crops to grow with ease. Meanwhile, Master Roshi sat cross-legged while smoking his pipe without a care in the world.

Almost two hours later, the quartet was covered in dirt, a bit of blood, cuts and sweat. They were panting heavily, feeling utterly exhausted as they made their way towards Master Roshi, having finished their work.

"What took you so long? I'm starving here," said Master Roshi with a frown, though Kefla could detect a hint of humour beneath it. The old bastard was certainly enjoying their suffering. "You'll have to get faster tomorrow… when the fields start getting bigger!"

"Now, for breakfast!"

The magic words certainly snapped them out of their exhaustion as they hurried, following after Master Roshi to a local restaurant. Neither Master Roshi nor the other customers were prepared to see the utter devastation that was three hungry Saiyans. The plates and bowls piled one after another, leaving Master Roshi nearly crying at how much the food was going to cost.

After breakfast, they were back in front of Kame House. Master Roshi was standing in front of a board that he had hung on a nearby tree.

"From now until lunch is study time! No martial artist becomes a master by strengthening their bodies alone! You must train the mind too," said Master Roshi before he gestured to Bulma. "I'll leave this part to Bulma here. She'll be your teacher so respect her and treat her as such!"

Bulma strode forward, and Kefla noticed that she was already in her teaching mode. "Krillin," said Bulma, singling out the bald monk. "I'm going to give you a test to determine just what you've learnt at the temple."

"Oh, man…" Krillin deflated while both she and Kakarot sniggered at him, knowing how hard Bulma's tests were.

Bulma cleared her throat, gaining their attention. She gave them an evil smirk. "I don't know why you're laughing at him. Both of you need to take a test too, so I can see how much you still remember from our previous studies!"

Kakarot and she both fell to their knees, releasing a despairing wail as they were subjected to a different hell than the one from the morning.

-]||[-

It was 12:30 PM and they'd just finished their lunch after a few hours of studying hell with Bulma. Each one of them was laying on their own hammock, under the shadows of the trees.

"From now until it's 1:30 PM is nap time," said Master Roshi, and Kefla could feel herself already about to drift to sleep. "Move well, study well, eat well and rest well. That is the Turtle Master way!"

Kefla's world turned black as she fully fell asleep after that.

-]||[-

The four students stood at attention, feeling better after getting their rest. They were standing in front of a construction site from what Kefla could gather, but she had no idea why.

"Your next training will be in construction," announced Master Roshi. "Not only will you break a sweat, but you will also be able to earn some money, and gain a valuable skill for the future. You'll never know how that will help you."

Seeing that they were still standing still, Master Roshi clapped his hands. "Come, come! If you don't push yourselves, you'll never be able to enter the Tenka'ichi Budōkai!"

The quartet started moving at that, hauling dirt, digging into the ground or carrying wooden planks and other materials. The other workers stared in awe at their strength and speed before they were snapped out of their stubbornness. Motivated and unwilling to let a group of kids show them up, they too started to work harder.

-]||[-

A few hours later, they stood in front of a large lake. While they were sweating and out of breath, they weren't feeling as tired as after their earlier training.

"Now, since you sweat so much, your next exercise would be swimming."

Krillin gawked. "You mean we're not done yet?"

Master Roshi scoffed at him. "Done? Why we've hardly begun!"

"Old man, why don't you just teach us some moves instead," said Goku, looking annoyed.

Kefla agreed. "Yes, old man!" The training was hard, yes, but she wanted to know how to fight!

Master Roshi spat before he glared at them. "You insolent little fledglings! You haven't even laid the barest foundations of strength or stamina, and yet you expect me to teach you moves?"

He continued with a lower tone. "Listen well, you think that knowing how to punch will help you when you're weak? You think that you can break a mountain with a fist of yours if you knew how to punch when the morning training could leave you so exhausted? Strength and Skill are sides of the same coin. Balance between them is important. No sense in punching a boulder correctly when your strength isn't enough to break wood."

"But, aren't there those kinds of martial arts that use the weakness of the opponent or deflect the blows rather than depend on strength?" Interjected Bulma with a frown.

Master Roshi nodded. "That's true, but don't be mistaken to think that they don't have any power. You think a twig can block, deflect or parry the attack of a massive sword? It'll break. Those guys have enough strength to do that, to withstand an attack enough to deflect it. Try it as you are now, and you'll break your arms."

Master Roshi then walked toward a big boulder and hit it with his staff. "I will teach you martial arts techniques only when you have built up enough power to move this boulder," he declared.

"Impossible," exclaimed Krillin. "Nobody could move a boulder like that!"

Master Roshi raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure, ladie?" he said before he took a position in front of the boulder, put his hands on it and pushed. Everyone was amazed to see the boulder move a few meters before the old master stopped.

"Now do you understand?" He said. "Give your all to your training regimen every day, and one day you'll be able to do this."

"Wow," said Kakarot before he moved towards the boulder. "Let me try too!"

"Don't you get it? Without training, you can never-" Master Roshi didn't get to finish his words as Kakarot moved the boulder even further than Master Roshi had, making both Krillin's and Roshi's eyes bulge out of their socket.

Kefla, feeling her blood bumping, rushed to do it too. She almost managed to move the boulder as far as Kakarot.

Master Roshi laughed nervously. "Hahaha! Oh, dear… M-My mistake! I didn't mean this tiny rock! Why, anybody could move this!" He moved toward a much, much larger boulder. It was actually more like a small mountain. "This boulder! If you can budge this boulder, then you can say that your strength training is complete!"

"Woah!" exclaimed Kefla before she moved forward to try and move it. Her muscles strained as she pushed with all her might, but the boulder didn't even move a hairbreadth!

Kefla huffed. "I-I couldn't move it at all!"

"Of course not," retorted Master Roshi. "You're completely lacking in training!"

"Oh, yeah?" said Bulma challengingly, her arms crossed under her chest. "Can you even move it, old-timer?"

Master Roshi shook his head. "Such disrespect by the younglings!" he exclaimed in a mock hurt tone before he moved toward the boulder. "Of course, I can! Why do you think they call me the invincible Master Roshi?" he said before he pushed with all his might.

The quartet's eyes bulged from their sockets when the boulder actually moved several meters from its position. Master Roshi stopped, wiping a little sweat from his forehead.

"Convinced?" he asked Bulma smugly. "Now, let's not get distracted, training, training!" he pointed toward the lake. "Lister closely! Swim to the far shore and back! 10 laps!"

Immediately, both Krillin and Kakarot stripped to their birthday suits, much to Bulma's apparent horror. Kefla made to strip too before she was stopped by Bulma.

"What the hell, Kefla? Not you too!"

Kefla frowned. "I don't see what the big deal is. I told you that Saiyans don't really have a problem with being naked."

Master Roshi perked up. "Is that so? Shame that your planet was destroyed. I'd have loved to meet some older Saiyan women!"

"Ignore the old perv!" said Bulma, ignoring an outraged 'Hey!' from the old master. "Let's just swim in our clothes, and next time we will bring some swimming suits!" she then bonked Kakarot and Krillin on their heads. "And keep your boxes on you two!"

Both Kefla and Kakarot whined, but a glare from Bulma had them following her orders.

As soon as they started swimming the old master stepped forward and shouted. "Oh, yeah. Just watch out for the sharks!"

"Sharks?" Said Bulma, her face turning pale.

In a moment, they saw a massive fin break through the surface of the water as a giant shark reared its head and opened its massive mouth revealing rows after rows of pointy teeth. The quartet panicked and swam faster.

-]||[-

"The next training is that of reflexes," Master Roshi explained. The quartet stood confused in front of a massive tree, their waists were tied to it by rope.

"What's the rope for?" Goku asked, holding his rope up.

"The enemy's attack will be within the rope's range," Master Roshi said before he tip-toed around the tree, and hit a beehive with his staff before running away. "Dodge!" He yelled.

The quartet screamed as they ran around the tree trying to avoid the angry bees as much as possible. Suffice to say that they did a poor job at it.

Meanwhile, Master Roshi hid behind a rock further away from the scene shooting instructions. "What are you doing? If you don't dodge then you'll only get stung more! Dodge, now, dodge!"

An hour later, the four of them were standing in front of Kame House covered in bee stings looking almost unrecognizable.

Master Roshi looked at them disapprovingly. "Why didn't you dodge?" earning himself a glare from the quartet.

"Well, that should do it for today's training."

"Sensei! This type of training that we underwent today, do we have to do this every day?" Krillin asked.

Master Roshi shook his head. "Of course not!" Krillin sighed in relief. It was short-lived as Master Roshi continued. "That was just a warm-up!" he said before picking up a turtle's shell from nowhere. "Starting tomorrow, you'll be doing the same training that you did today…" he held up the turtle shell for everyone to see. "But carrying this 50-kilo shell! Now you see why they call me the Turtle Master, eh?"

Krillin fell face down.

-]||[-

Bulma patted her stomach gently. It was full after eating several times the amount of the food she used to eat for dinner. The training was harder than she had expected. Her whole body was still sore and tired, and the turtle shell that they had to put on after that didn't help. The old man had ordered them to keep the shell on all the time even while sleeping, and only to take it off when showering. It was strange, but the same could be said for Roshi's training methods.

One thing that Bulma noticed was that the island was perfect for Roshi's training. It was too suspicious for Bulma's likening to be a coincidence. It was as if the whole island was made to be a training ground for the Kame-sen school.

It couldn't be though… People have been living here for more than two hundred years.

"What about me learning magic, old man?" asked Bulma as she remembered that she wanted to learn magic too.

Roshi shook his head. "My sister is unable to take you at the moment. You'll have to wait until after the tournament. Meanwhile, I'll teach what I can, but it isn't much."

Bulma was disappointed but she nodded her head in understanding. Their schedule was busy enough as it is already.

"Now, before you go to sleep," said Roshi, adopting a serious tone. "I have one last lesson for today. It's important that you understand this from the start."

"When do you think you should take a life?" he asked.

Bulma frowned at the topic. "Isn't that too much for us? We're all still kids here."

Master Roshi shook his head. "Kids or not. Each one of you here is capable of killing a person whether with a weapon or their own strength. Kefla and Goku especially," he said, and Bulma had to agree, remembering the desert bandit from before. "It's a lesson that they should know early on."

He continued. "Taking a life isn't easy. It's something that you shouldn't strive to do. I'm not teaching you here so that you could go and kill people whenever you liked."

"Are you saying that we should never kill?" Asked Kefla cautiously.

Master Roshi shook his head. "Of course not. There are times when you do need to kill. You're learning martial arts here to defend yourself, your family, and innocent people. Don't go around selling skill and talent and killing, but if an enemy needs to be killed, then do it."

"How would we know if he needs to be killed?" asked Krillin.

"A bandit that kills people with no remorse. Someone that is trying to kill you and your precious people or a tyrant that is harming innocent people. In all these instances, it's okay to kill since you're protecting yourselves and others. Sometimes though, even an enemy that appears evil might deserve a second chance."

"How could we tell?"

"When fighting with your fists, you understand each other. You can tell someone's character through their first, and if you see light in there, then maybe they deserve a second chance. However, remember. If you give such a chance, anyone they harm after that is on you." With that, Master Roshi sent them to their bed to think carefully about his words.

Krillin watched in awe and fear as Goku, in his Ōzaru form as they called it, thrashed around, pounding the ground as Kefla flew around him. The massive ape that the Saiyans could turn into was terrifying. The primal nature and the obvious increase in power were awe-inspiring.

He watched as Kefla's Ki blasts (that could easily destroy a boulder) did nothing but sting the giant monkey, making it angrier. Kefla's rule was to keep Goku busy without endangering herself so he wouldn't wander off towards the populated side of the island while Goku tried to gain control.

It wasn't the first time that they had this training. Bulma had managed to control her ape at least half of the time now, but Goku wasn't making any progress so far.

"Hmm." Master Roshi rubbed his beard. "It doesn't seem to be working. I fear that the experience with his grandfather is preventing him from being able to gain control."

Krillin winced. He had no one really that close back at the temple, but he could sympathise with Goku. The idea of killing someone dear to him, let alone his own grandfather, terrified Krillin. Goku, who had done it without knowing it at the time, must have been suffering a lot because of it.

"Then what can we do?" Asked Bulma, the worry in her voice was clear to all.

"I do have an idea," said Master Roshi. "Though if it fails, Goku might be stuck trapped in his own mind."

"What?" Bulma shouted. "Absolutely not!"

Master Roshi glared at her. "What then? It's worth the risk. Do you want him to repeat the experience? To one day wake up and find himself surrounded by your bloody corpses?" he paused for a moment. "Goku is a ticking bomb at this rate. Do you think he wouldn't take the chance despite the risk?"

"N-No… but…"

Master Roshi put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry. The risk is there, but it's minimal. Goku is strong. He will be able to do it."

"What exactly is the method, Master Roshi?" asked Krillin, feeling anxious for his friend.

"Basically, it'll be trapping Goku in the memory of that day. He'll see his grandfather's death again and again until he learns to accept it and move on. Only then, when he achieves that, will he find peace and be able to control this form."

Bulma crossed her arms for a few moments as she frowned. "Fine," she said after a few more moments. "Goku would say to do it."

Master Roshi nodded. "It'll need me touching his forehead," he said. "Go help with Kefla distracting him so I could jump in and touch him."

Bulma nodded as she flew toward Goku. Flew. And wasn't that a shock for Krillin. He never imagined that people could fly. Let alone that three kids around his age managed to do it while Master Roshi had no idea how to do it. They had promised to teach him too, and he was excited to take the sky with them.

He watched as Master Roshi dashed, going under Goku and between his legs before he jumped. He touched Goku's forehead. A moment later, Goku stilled as if he was in trance while Master Roshi made his way towards him. Kefla and Bulma sat beside Goku meanwhile.

Krillin was a bit put out by his friends' strength. Growing up at the temple, Krillin was always bullied by the other disciples there. Because of his age, height or lack of strength. He had developed an inferiority complex because of it, making him act arrogant as if he was better than others to make himself feel better. He was wary of the other three at first, but despite being stronger than him, Goku and Kefla never bullied him. Sure, they teased him from time to time, but there was no malice in their words or actions.

"You feel like you're lagging, don't you?" said Master Roshi, taking him out of his thoughts. "You see that they're stronger than you by a margin, and you wish that you were their equal, right?"

Krillin nodded dumbly, surprised that the old master could read him so easily.

"Don't worry your head about it much. Don't forget that they're Saiyans. They're naturally stronger than a human," said Master Roshi.

"I understand… it's just…"

"Krillin, at your age, you're showing more strength than most humans alive." Krillin's head snapped up as he looked at Master Roshi in shock. "You'll only get stronger from here. Don't compare yourself to them, but to other humans. I'm sure that if you keep up, in time you'll be able to surpass me."

"Y-You're making fun of me, aren't you?"

"Of course not. I'm speaking the truth. All four of you will surpass me for sure if you keep this up. Keep working hard and it'll happen. Who knows, maybe one day, you'll be able to reach them or surpass them too."

Krillin nodded, feeling happy in the trust that his old master had in him.

"Just don't get absorbed into your jealousy," said Master Roshi suddenly. "I knew a man once. He was once my friend and rival. His jealousy of me, however, led him down a dark path and he started to hate me. We became enemies. There were other reasons for sure, but jealousy played a huge part in it."

Krillin wondered who Master Roshi was talking about. Master Roshi's past wasn't well known. People didn't even know his age while others thought him a baseless legend.

"You don't have to worry about that, Master Roshi. They're my friends," declared Krillin firmly.

It was true. Krillin never had friends before now. The last few months had gotten him closer to the three of them, and he was more than happy to call them his friends. He was especially close to Goku as the only two boys their age. He counted them as his best friends, and he'll never replace them for anything in this world.

Master Roshi smiled. "Come then. Goku will be like that for hours most likely. Let's go to sleep."

Krillin looked at Goku and the rest for a moment before he shook his head. "No, I want to stay here too."

Master Roshi simply chuckled, patted his head before he walked away.

"Hey, old-timer! Master Roshi!"

Goku barged into Kame House. Seeing Master Roshi eating some ice cream did cause his mouth to water, but he shook his head as impossibly he had something more important than food. He was far too excited for that.

"Eh, what's up?"

"You gotta come quickly!" he said as he grabbed Master Roshi's hand, and dragged him out of the house.

"What's the meaning of this?" Master Roshi asked, but Goku simply ignored him.

Soon, after a few moments. They found themselves in front of a familiar small mountain-sized boulder. The same one from their first day of training. Krillin, Bulma and Kefla were already standing there, all of them wearing smug looks.

"Invincible Master," exclaimed Krillin. "We can move it now!"

"Look at this," Goku announced as he put his hands on the boulder.

"Eh, you don't mean…"

Goku grunted as he pushed the boulder with all of his might. Miraculously, and to Master Roshi's utter shock, the boulder actually moved around ten meters before Goku stopped, feeling exhausted.

Goku grinned as he saw Master Roshi's dumbfounded look.

"See?" shouted Krillin excitedly. "I can't move it as far as Goku, but I can do it too!" He quickly went to position to prove his words true.

Goku watched as Krillin strained his muscles, yelling as he also moved the rock. It moved only half as much as Goku's did, but it was an impressive achievement nonetheless. Goku was more than happy for his friend.

"They aren't the only ones," said Kefla.

"Y-You two, too?" asked a shocked Master Roshi.

Kefla nodded smugly as she took her turn to move the boulder. It moved far more than Krillin's but still less than Goku's attempt by a small margin.

It was enough for Goku to feel smug though, and he made sure Kefla knew it. "Hahaha! You still can't move it as far as I can!" He really liked teasing her. She always overacted when he teased her or made a statement about him being more powerful than her. It amused Goku to no end. It didn't help that he was stronger in his humble opinion.

Kefla was visibly ticked off as she stormed toward him, shoving her face into his. "Wanna see me move your ass into a mountain?" She said glaring at him. Kefla raised an arm indicating that she was ready to fight.

Goku felt his blood pumping as he got ready to fight with Kefla only for Master Roshi to bonk both of them on the head with his staff.

"Stop that you two! Geez… There will be no fighting until the tournament!"

Both of them pouted as they rubbed their heads, wincing as they felt a bump form on their heads.

"Now, it's my turn!" said Bulma, being the only person yet to prove that they could move the boulder to the old master.

"Nice, Bulma!" Goku congratulated his dear friend as she managed to move it as far as Krillin did. Bulma smiled at him in return, making his smile grow wider.

"Oh, my," said Master Roshi as he wiped his sweat. "I didn't think that you guys would actually be able to move it. You sure surpassed my expectations."

Goku and the rest were happy to hear that. Smiling proudly and puffing their chests out at master Roshi's words.

"Well… As promised, the final two months will be me teaching you some moves and the basics of martial arts. Don't think that you'll be forgoing your current training though. In fact," he paused as he pulled several turtle shells out of nowhere. "This time you'll have to use these shells instead. They weigh twice as much as the ones you're currently wearing!" he said, making all of them fall to the ground, already feeling tired.

Master Roshi continued. "First though, I want you to do a series of basic kicks and punches to make sure of what you need."

Goku and the others complied, going through what Master Roshi had asked of them.

Master Roshi clapped his hands. "Alright, that's enough," he said. "Goku, I can see that you've got some of the basics, but not everything. I can also see a bad habit or two mixed in. Gohan didn't finish teaching you, right?" Goku nodded. His grandpa had started teaching him martial arts but died before they could finish. "You won't need as much time as the rest at least. Gohan did a good job for what he has taught you so far."

Master Roshi then looked at Bulma. "Well, you'll need the most work. Two months is a short time, but I'll make sure that you get at least the very basics down." Bulma nodded, though she looked quite put out. "Kefla. I know that you fought before, but you look more like a brawler than a martial artist. There are a lot of bad habits and wasteful moves." Master Roshi then looked at Krillin.

"Well, you have a thing or two that needs fixing, but it's clear that the eight years of training at your temple weren't a waste. Because of that, I'll focus on teaching you the Kamehameha in these two months since both Goku and Kefla know it," said Master Roshi.

Krillin smiled smugly at first before his expression turned into that one of awe at the end. "Really? Y-You will actually teach me the legendary Kamehameha wave?"

"But of course. You're a student of mine. All of my students are expected to learn it one day. The technique is a secret from strangers, not my own disciples."

Goku bounced in his place, getting excited. "Are there any other techniques that you can teach us, Master Roshi?"

Master Roshi nodded. "There are several. I'll keep one or two a surprise for later, but I'll be teaching you a lot of stuff if you work hard enough."

Goku, Kefla, and Krillin all jumped in the air, thrusting their hands and exclaiming happily.

The lights from the village illuminated the moonless night. Every house in the village had its light on in addition to colourful decorative lighting. Animal masks were hung on the walls of every house; masks of tigers, phoenixes, turtles and dragons. Statues of the same animals were erected all around the village too. Food and games stalls were erected in the streets (except the main one) where one could see the village's residents and travelers enjoy the various games and food offered by the locals. Meanwhile, the main street offered several traditional performances; a group carrying a green and yellow dragon doing the Dragon Dance, another wearing the costume of a large yellow and red lion doing their Lion Dance, while others were doing a traditional play envisioning a fight between a dragon and a tiger. Every now and then, fireworks could be seen in the sky, exploding into various colours and shapes much to the amazement of everyone present.

Master Roshi sat cross-legged on top of a small hill nearby the town as he watched all of this. He busied himself with his pipe as he took everything in while taking care to keep his eyes on his students. The four of them were down there enjoying themselves at the festival. Goku and Kefla especially were having the most fun as neither of them had seen anything like it before. He watched as they both competed in the goldfish scooping game while Bulma had given up and Krillin was desperately trying to catch up to them.

Of course, the kids have also tried every single food stall there is while eating large quantities of food that left Master Roshi grateful that Bulma was the one to offer to pay for all of this. Else, his wallet would've been dried and he'd have needed to tap into his life savings. As for why he wasn't enjoying himself, Master Roshi was simply waiting until the late hours of the festival when his students were asleep and the more adult activities started. He let out a perverse giggle as he imagined all the new girls that were available.

Wiping out the blood that fell from his nose, Master Roshi thought about the last few months. He had taken a few students in the years that he had lived, with Ox-King and Son Gohan being the most famous and most talented out of all of them. His students this time around though? They have blown his expectations out of the water. They were obviously going to surpass his previous students and him one day. Goku and Kefla specifically were the most talented out of the four of them. He could see them going far. Krillin was talented but he lacked the power and advantage that the Saiyans had over humans (Master Roshi wished the Saiyans were still alive and weren't as bloodthirsty as he was told, for they'd have made for excellent students).

Bulma on the other hand will most likely never reach Goku's and Kefla's power, but her control, smarts and affinity to magic were second to none. The girl lacked firepower but she had a mind that surpassed anyone in the world. Her Ki control was astonishing too, and after she went to his sister and learned magic, she'd prove to be a formidable opponent to those far stronger than her.

He was proud of their progress and depending on the competition, he figured that one of them would be the winner of the tournament. That is unless he joined to teach them a lesson or two.

Master Roshi chuckled at that. Maybe he actually would join to teach those whippersnappers a thing or two to prevent them from getting a big head and stop their training.

-]||[-

The quartet stood with Master Roshi in front of Kame house. It has been about a year since they've started their training, and tomorrow was the day of the tournament. Finally, their training was complete.

"Well, it's time to set out for the southern metropolis!" announced Master Roshi. "You can come out of your shells now," he said.

Bulma sighed in relief. "Good thing we don't have to wear the stupid thing to the tournament."

Krillin shared her sentiment as all of them started taking off their shells. "Yeah, it'd have been rather embarrassing."

Bulma frowned as she put the shell on the ground. She wobbled for a moment, her body feeling out of balance for a moment, and really, really light.

"Hey! My body is so light! I can't feel my own weight!" said Goku as he hopped in place.

"That's true!" agreed Kefla.

Master Roshi chuckled. "Try jumping as high as you can."

The quartet obeyed as they jumped with all their might. Bulma gawked as she easily jumped over fifty meters in the air.

While Goku, Kefla, and Krillin got excited and started running around and testing their limits. Bulma stood smiling at her progress. Less than two years ago, she'd never have imagined that one day she'd be able to fly, jump fifty meters in the air, or move a mountain-sized boulder.

Before she could reminisce longer, she was taken out of her thoughts by Master Roshi who yelled at them. "Get dressed! We don't want to miss our plane!" Master Roshi was wearing a black suit with a black bowler hat on top of his head.

A few minutes later, all of them were dressed and ready to go. Bulma snickered at Krillin and Goku who looked a little silly in their suits and hats with their short stature. They were both teasing each other about it.

Kefla on the other hand was wearing a black skirt that reached just above her knees with a white blouse. Kefla already had her growth spurt. She wasn't as tall as herself , but there was a big chance that she'd grow taller later. Bulma was amazed by how Kefla was as tall as Goku one day, and the next she looked like a proper teenager. She literally grew overnight.

Kefla looked good in her new clothes, the same as the ones Bulma was wearing. Her long slender legs, filled thighs and wide hips looked good in the skirt which was complimented with her toned and muscular stomach. Bulma had to admit that Kefla looked gorgeous now. She was curvy all in the right places, yet her heritage as a Saiyan and her training meant that she was also quite fit. Like a superstar athlete/ supermodel combo.

Bulma watched her as she chased after Goku (having most likely teased her about something or the other), the way she moved and the gentle bounce of her breasts how-

Woah, there! The hell I am staring at her breasts for?! Thought Bulma, her face lighting up like a Christmas tree. Sure, she finally looks like a teenager and a damn fine one at that, but since when do I care what other girls look like that much? I mean sure, they're bigger than mine… why the hell are they bigger? That's it I'm just jealous of her chest!

"Bulma? What's wrong? Are you sick?" Came Kefla's velvety voice as she put her hand on Bulma's forehead.

Even her voice changed when she's not yelling! Damn sexy Saiyan women! Wait

"I'm a sexy Saiyan woman too!" she suddenly shouted before covering her mouth with her hand.

Kefla looked at her sudden outburst confusedly. "Er? What?"

"Nothing!" Bulma squeaked.

Kefla looked at her weirdly, but Bulma chose to ignore her as she looked around for a bit before noticing something.

Is Goku checking me and Kefla out? Thought Bulma as she noticed Goku looking at them from time to time before averting his eyes and frowning. Ah, he's a teenage boy after all, despite his appearance. Bulma giggled internally, though she had a fair dusting of pink on her cheeks.

"Come now. Get in the car so we can get going," said Master Roshi.

All of them complied, entering the car. Krillin sat in the front seat while Goku, Kefla and Bulma sat in the back seat with Goku in the middle.

A few moments later, they were on their way to the airport to board the plane on their way toward the tournament.

A.N:

With this, chapter 4 is finally finished and with it the gang's training with Master Roshi! Hope that you liked it.

We're past the 100 follows and favourites mark! Thanks to everyone who reviewed, followed and favourited the story.

Goku and Kefla met Bulma's parents.

The trio then met Krillin as they went to train under Master Roshi. I like Krillin, so don't expect him to disappear. If all goes according to plan, Krillin will push the very limits of humanity, though of course there is a line where he'll never be able to cross simply because he's a human.

One thing to note. A lot of characters are stronger than they are in canon.

Most of the training is like canon with few changes here and there, and of course original scenes… etc. Roshi here taught everyone more about martial arts than just depending on his physical training like canon.

Hopefully, I was able to show that the characters bonded together, and they all became great friends.

Kefla finally hit her first growth spurt! She is still not exactly as tall as Kefla is in canon, so another growth spurt will follow in the future.

Next chapter is the start of the tournament. Who will fight who? Who will win the entire thing? You'll have to read to find out! I have no idea when the next chapter will be since it all depends on my muse and real-life circumstances.

Thanks for reading, please review, follow and favourite!
