Hi! I'm still shocked after the new episodes, to me they were like an earthquake. There were so many emotions involved. I must tell you I've never cried so much on any TV show before. If this season is that huge, I wonder what they have in store for us in the final one. Anyway, back to the place where we stopped last time. Enjoy the reading:)
Chapter 9
"Wow." The unexpected guest exclaimed. She knew the secret was big but she didn't expect it to be something like that.
Chloe suddenly felt as if she was going to faint. There, at the top of the stairs, was her daughter.
"Trixie?" She whispered and stepped forward from the kitchen.
The girl's eyes widened in shock as she took in every detail. Her face reflected so many emotions – first anxiety and confusion, then curiosity together with amazement. She didn't pay any attention to her mother as her eyes were searching for a certain person among this small crowd. Then, she thought she spotted him.
"Lucifer!" She shouted. "You're here!" She went down the stairs and ran towards Michael but then she suddenly stopped and studied him. He was similar but yet he was so different. It wasn't just his face with the scar but Trixie could feel his dark emotions he was full of.
"You're not Lucifer." She stated.
"You're very observant." Michael snickered.
Trixie gave him an 'I'm-not-scared-of-you' look which surprised him a lot.
There was only one more person who could be Lucifer and he was facing away from her.
"Lucifer." She whispered. " I know it's you." She reached out and lightly touched his arm. He knew that in a moment everything would change. He was fearing this, the same as revealing his face to Chloe those years ago. That one didn't end well, at least at first so what could happen now? He hesitated what to do. He could hide his face and not show it to Trixie but she has already seen his wings so what would be the point in doing it. And besides, he had enough of hiding from her. He cast a glance at Chloe standing nearby. She seemed calm, sending him her confidence. He nodded his head, understanding the message. He took a deep breath and spun around, waiting for the girl's reaction.
First, he heard a gasp as she noticed his red Devil face. She locked eyes with him. Just as he was waiting for her to flee from the house, her facial expression changed. She recognized his emotions instantly. Now she had no doubt it was him.
"I knew it was you, Lucifer." Trixie said and with that she put her arms around him and hugged him tightly.
Everybody was so surprised, no one told anything. The most shocked one was Michael who has just had a moment of his great triumph and now everything turned upside down. Lucifer was first taken-aback at her loving gesture but then he hugged her back.
"Thank you, urchin. I think I needed that." He murmured.
"You're welcome" She giggled against his chest and they stayed like that for a moment.
Trixie turned her head and noticed her mother standing by Lucifer's side now. She seemed deeply touched by the whole situation.
"Lucifer, you know what?" She stepped out of his embrace.
"Uh?"
The girl pointed to Chloe. "Your face perfectly matches mommy's dress." She said and smiled at them. They both looked at each other and burst out laughing, soon Linda, Amenadiel and even God joined them. Then Trixie noticed someone wasn't expressing his amusement and she felt a wave of dark energy coming from this mysterious person.
"Lucifer, who is it?" She asked, directing her gaze at Michael. There was a sound of apprehension in her voice.
"That's Michael, my twin brother." He wanted to add 'evil' but didn't want to scare Trixie off.
"Nice to meet you, child." Michael said with interest.
Trixie took a close look at him and then she was struck with it all – rage, jealousy, obsession, malice. Suddenly, she felt as if her blood was boiling.
"You!" She exclaimed surprising everyone present there. "You wanted to hurt Lucifer," she squinted her eyes at him, "and you attacked and abducted my mommy." She turned to Chloe. "My nightmare… It was real. Why didn't you tell me?"
Chloe didn't expect that question. "I didn't know what it meant and I didn't want to bother you with my problems." The woman answered truthfully.
"Wow, I'm enormously impressed." Michael spoke up. "Dad, you were absolutely right when you described her special abilities." He knew his Father would protest but he went on.
"And by the way, it wasn't just me who wanted Lucifer dead." He added but fortunately, he was immediately stopped by God who grabbed his arm and stated firmly. "That's it. You're leaving now."
"Why? It's finally getting interesting here." He said with a smirk on his face.
"I told you something." God warned Michael.
At that moment, the front door was unceremoniously flung open by Dan who, judging by his look, seemed to be in great distress.
"Oh, it's just great." Chloe said under her breath.
"Is Trixie here?" He asked full of worry. Then, just as he started coming down the stairs, he took a good look at the place and froze. What he saw in front of him, made him question his sanity. There were quite a lot of people there. Well, some of them were actual people, some celestials and one person was of an unknown descent. There were Linda and Amenadiel with baby Charlie, an old man and Michael with his grey wings spread across the room. There was Chloe together with Lucifer, of course, his Devil face shown and wings spread as well. Then he noticed his daughter standing between the brothers. He was completely stunned, never ever did he expect to see something like that.
"Come on in, Daniel. The more the merrier." Michael stated. "Tell me, do all human creatures enter someone's house in this manner, without knocking on the door?"
"Huh?" Dan looked baffled, he wasn't able to form any comprehensible answer.
"Oh man. You've just made it to the middle of the celestial family drama here. And you know what? It concerns your family, too." He added with satisfaction as he realized it really fuelled Dan's fears.
"Michael, get out now and wait for me outside." God addressed his disobedient son.
Michael knew his Dad wasn't joking. "Thanks for the lovely meal. Hope to see you again. Linda, Chloe," he bowed his head," brothers, child." He glanced at Trixie. She stood there with her arms crossed and she sent him a condescending look. He squinted his eyes at her but she didn't flinch a bit. She really is the Detective's daughter, he thought. With that he retracted his wings, reluctantly went up the stairs past Dan and left.
Dan still hasn't recovered yet but he came closer."Trixie, are you all right? What were you thinking?" He asked, looking at his daughter with concern. Trixie lowered her gaze.
"Have you got any idea what she has done?" He turned to Chloe. "First, she tried to retrieve some information about Lucifer from me and when I left her for a moment, she was gone. It turned out she ordered a ride from Uber and came here."
Chloe fought the urge to say 'I told you so'. She knew right from the start her daughter was up to something but Dan wouldn't listen. So instead she stated. "Oh, it's not the first time she has done that."
"What? How come I don't know anything about it?" Dan felt hurt of being kept in the dark once again.
"That was four years ago and my mum planned for Trixie to become an actress. We fought about it, Trixie ran and came to Lux to talk to Lucifer but he wasn't there and that's how she met Maze." Chloe explained.
"That's just great." Dan huffed.
"Mommy, daddy, I'm really sorry for what I've done but it was the only way to finally find out the truth about Lucifer. I heard you talking about your meeting here so I decided to see for myself." She turned to Lucifer, whose face was back to normal.
"I'm sorry for ruining your family dinner, Lucifer." Trixie apologized with so much sincerity in her voice.
What happened next shocked everyone. Lucifer, the same Devil who felt uncomfortable among children, now folded Trixie in his arms. Feeling his warmth, she closed her eyes and let a deep breath.
"You haven't ruined anything, Trixie. You just made it whole." Lucifer whispered.
Dan couldn't believe his own eyes – his daughter was hugging back the Devil. How has his life changed in such a short time?
While witnessing this, God studied everybody's reaction. Chloe was smiling through her tears of happiness falling down her cheeks. Dan's face showed his astonishment and disbelief. Linda and Amenadiel were deeply moved, too. God could clearly see they have all become not just friends but most of all family and they cared for one another a lot.
"Lucifer, can you promise me something?" Trixie asked.
"Anything." He said.
"Will we always be friends? No matter what?" She feared his answer would be 'he can't do this'.
Initially, he was surprised at her words but then a smile appeared on his face. "Always, I promise. And I never break my promises." He stated.
"Good and I really like your wings. They're beautiful. Can I touch them. please?"
"Trixie." Chloe spoke up fearing it would be too much for Lucifer.
"No, it's okay. Here." He said and bent his wing for her to have a better access.
Slowly, Trixie's hand went in that direction and at first she barely touched it. She was afraid that it would vanish like a soap bubble. The feathers were so soft they couldn't be compared to any other object on Earth. She gently stroked them, amazed at the sensation.
"Wow, They're amazing." Trixie said under her breath, her whole face lit up.
"You know, I don't want to interrupt but I think I should go now." God spoke up and everyone looked at him. With so much going on, they totally forgot he was still there.
"Dad." Lucifer said.
"It's okay, my son. All in all, I'm happy about this family dinner. Despite the fact that some things went different than I thought. I guess sometimes even God doesn't know what's in store for him. But at least I got to see you, my sons and meet your wonderful earthly family." He gave them a radiant smile.
"Linda, the meal was delicious."
"Thank you, God." The woman beamed at him.
"Bye, Charlie." He touched his cheek and the boy giggled.
"Goodbye, my son." He said to Amenadiel and they shook hands.
Then he moved to a certain teenager who eyed him suspiciously. "Trixie."
"I know what you did to Lucifer." She said shocking everyone. "You hurt him so bad. What kind of father does that to his son?" She asked, tears of anguish brimmed in her eyes.
"Trixie." Lucifer tried to prevent any unnecessary confrontation.
God sighed deeply. "Probably not a perfect father I always wanted to be." He glanced at Lucifer. "I know I failed and I won't turn back time but I hope that maybe one day my son will forgive me."
Then he looked back at the girl. Trixie smiled and said. "I hope so too. After all, everyone makes mistakes, even God but what counts is the ability to admit them."
"You're a wise and brave young lady, always loyal to those you love just like your mother. It was a real pleasure to meet you." He said, somehow he knew she would turn out just fine.
"It was good to see you, Lucifer." He stated and turned to Lucifer and Chloe. "Remember what I told you. Together you're stronger, my children. And don't worry about Michael, I'll do everything in my power for him not to bother you anymore."
"Thank you. We're both grateful." Chloe said, seeing that Lucifer was too touched to utter even a word.
God patted his son on the shoulder and turned to leave but stopped in front of Dan, who was still a little bit dazed with all the events.
"Daniel, I really admire your strength and self-esteem. I know the last couple of years were tough for you but you didn't give up, you survived." Dan looked astonished at God's words.
"I just want you to hear one more thing before I leave. Don't worry about her, she's finally found her peace." God said softly and went up the stairs. Before opening the door, he gazed at everyone for the last time. Yes, he was leaving his sons in good hands. With that thought in mind, he left the house.
They all let out breaths they were holding. Dan sniffled and started frantically rubbing his eyes. He didn't want the memory of Charlotte to make him cry openly in front of his friends.
Chloe cast a look at Lucifer who seemed overwhelmed with Trixie's outburst and his Dad's speech. He was still looking at the place by the door where God was standing just minutes ago.
"Lucifer, are you all right?" Chloe whispered and took his hand. The feel of her touch brought him back to reality. He transferred his look at her and finally retracted his wings.
"To tell the truth, I really don't know." He answered. He noticed her tear-streaked face and gently caressed her cheek, wiping the last tear.
"What about you?" He asked her, not caring about himself anymore.
"It's so much to grasp at once but I think I will be fine… with your help." She said, the corners of her lips slightly raised. They both knew this conversation should be continued in a more private place. After everything that happened today and all the revelations, it was going to be a lot of talking for them.
Suddenly, Chloe remembered about her daughter. She looked at her and saw her broad smile. "Trixie, honey. I know all this seems like a crazy dream…" However, the girl didn't let her finish.
"No, it's fine, mommy. Finally, all the pieces fit perfectly. I'm happy I know the truth now."
Chloe was astounded by her daughter. There was only one thing left – what to do with her? Theoretically, she should be at Dan's till tomorrow but as she glanced at him, Chloe wasn't quite sure he could handle it after all the emotional turmoil God and their daughter threw the man into. She could take her home instead but she felt that there were some unresolved issues left between her and Lucifer that had to be addressed and besides, with his state of mind, Lucifer shouldn't be alone tonight. Before she decided what to do, it was Trixie who spoke up.
"Mommy, I'm sorry once again for escaping. Can I go back with dad? I promise no more running away." She said as if she exactly knew what was on Chloe's mind.
Chloe hesitated. "I don't know, Trix." She glanced at her ex-husband. "Dan, are you up for this?" She asked.
"What? Yes, I am. Definitely." Chloe noticed he didn't sound much convincing.
"See? We'll be fine." Trixie said and grinned sweetly.
"Okay, I guess." Chloe said, still not really sure if this was the right thing. "Bye, monkey. I love you so much." She hugged her daughter.
"I love you too, mommy. See you tomorrow." She said.
"Bye, Lucifer." Trixie said and hugged him. This time it felt more natural to him.
"You know, I was thinking." He told her. "How about having that Disney night next Saturday?"
"Really?" The girl asked, her eyes sparkling delighted at the thought. "That would be wonderful! Can we do it every Saturday?"
He quickly looked at Chloe. "I can't promise you that but I think we can work something out." He winked at Trixie.
"Thank you, Lucifer. Bye." Trixie said and sprang to the door.
"Bye." Dan said to everyone and went after his daughter.
At that time, Charlie started fussing as it was past his bed time. Chloe and Lucifer spun around and looked at their Linda and Amenadiel. They both looked exhausted and obviously they were feeling the consequences of the recent stress and lack of sleep.
"We should go home too, you need rest after all of this." Chloe stated.
"Yes, thank you for the lovely meal." Lucifer added.
They hugged, said their goodbyes and Chloe with Lucifer left.
"What do you think? Are they going to be all right now?" Amenadiel asked, embracing Linda and Charlie.
She pondered for a while. "They've got a lot of things to discuss and the complicated history of their relationship won't help them either but I know that in the end they'll make it through. After all, like God said, together they're stronger." Linda stated and smiled, now completely confident for Lucifer and Chloe's future.
Now I've got a surprise for you. Last time I told you it would be probably the last chapter in this story. But I got to writing and some things came out that I feel should be clarified between our favourite duo so here it is - there's going to be one more chapter. It's not even started yet but I know it'll come to me soon. So, once again thanks for reading, following, favoriting and of course reviewing my story so far.
