It was a nice day when a group of old friends decided to go to Hogsmeade for some much-needed fun. The summer day was sunny, but it was not too hot; only 24 degrees celsius. Harry and Ginny met Ron and Hermoine at the road to Hogsmeade, knowing that they would see Luna and Neville upon arrival. They walked down the road and chatted about old times.
The four of them got to Hogsmeade just in time to meet up with Luna and Neville.
"Hey", said Harry.
"There you guys are; we just got here", said Luna.
"Alright, now that we're finally all together I have something to tell you", said Harry.
"What?" said Ron.
"So last night I happened to be looking at the Marauder's Map, and guess what I found? A new passageway to Hogsmead!"
"Wait, really?" said Hermione
"I think we've had enough adventures for a lifetime and can skip a new jaunt if you ask me," said Ginny.
"Then let's take a vote,'' said Harry. "All in favor of going on the secret passageway, raise your hand." Harry, Ron, Neville, and Hermione raised their hands. "Well it's official then," said Harry. "We're going."
After dragging Ginny past Honeydukes, Harry stopped in front of the quill shop and said, "It's in here." Everyone, even Ginny in her own silent way, excitedly entered the shop pretending to look at the various quills on display.
"It's over here," Harry whispered, motioning to an arch made out of quills that were magically stuck together. "You have to pull two certain ones out in a certain order and it'll open up.
"So which ones do you have to pull?" asked Ron.
"I'm not sure, but let me look at that map again." he looked at the map and it had a helpful hint pointing at the top right and the bottom left.
"Alright," said Harry "Let's do this," he pulled out the top right and the bottom left and it slid open just like that.
They quickly snuck into the passageway and it closed behind them. The moment it closed, torches were engulfed in flames to guide them through. They walked in silence for a few minutes until they heard footsteps in the direction they were going.
"What was that?" said Harry.
"Blimey, that's my least favorite question," said a frightened Ron as Hermoine smirked.
"Hold on, let me look at the map," he said. "I solemnly swear I am up to no good,'' he muttered for what felt like the thousandth time. When he glanced down to see the names, Grace, Bertie, Hazel, and Will, were coming towards them in the dank, dark, damp passageway.
Luna, being Luna, decided to break the tension and bellowed a "Hello!" down the passage. There was shuffling of uncertain feet, and some murmurs, loudest of them being a high voice saying to stay.
Out of the shadows, a small face emerged with a wand lit in her hand. The illuminated Hogwarts graduates revealed themselves to the young Hufflepuff. "Is that really you?" she asked shyly. Harry grinned and stepped forward as if to say yes, but she quickly dismissed him and pointed to Ginny. "No, you. Aren't you Ginny Weasley, the chaser for the Holyhead Harpies?"
Ginny, surprised, said, "Yes, yes I am." Slowly her cheeks began to turn a lovely shade of pink, which Harry thought was hilarious as he giggled.
"Why, do you play Quidditch?" Ginny asked. At that, Hazel puffed out her chest and said, "I am the youngest seeker Hufflepuff has ever had!" Ginny gave the girl a small smile and said, "Right. Great. Keep up the good work."
An awkward silence followed this moment only broken by Ron's awkward comment…" Great, so yeah. Time to go. Be sure to, uh, eat ya' veggies." The two groups walked their respective ways, and when the elders emerged into the quill shop, they pushed the feathers back in and walked out of the shop.
"So," Ginny said. "Honeydukes?"
As they walked into the store, a bell made a little tune. As they immediately split up to get their favorite things, an alarm sounded, repeating "The thief has been zapped." They ran to the door, Harry used revelio, and it was Mundungus!
"Dung?" was the unanimous response.
When Dung woke up, he muttered "Oi, Hazel's gonna be so mad at me", which shocked the group and startled an onlooker who muttered something to her friend. When he opened his eyes, he was surprised to see that it was Harry standing over him. "Wha- what are you doing here?" Dung asked. "Abiding by the law. You?" quipped Harry. "Well, I was trying to get some candy for my niece on account of going to see her, but I got zapped before I could pay for the lot." Harry, annoyed and rolling his eyes, asked, "Did you know the till was INSIDE the store and not outside?!"
"Whoa, calm down Harry. No need to be so snarky, " said Hermoine.
"Is Hazel your niece? She asked.
"Yeah, what's it to you?"
"Well, she's not coming anymore. Go pay for your goods and get out of here."
Shocked, Dung questioned Ron about what he had done with Hazel. He further explained that they had met her in the passageway and they went back to Hogwarts.
As Dung dusted himself off and stood up, the IWP arrived to investigate the alarm. Immediately, they saw Dung and were able to piece the situation together. He stood up and said, "I know, I know the drill." As they grabbed him, they all apparated away, and the entire hubbub was over.
Ginny was the first to break the awkward moment and reminded them all that they had come for some fun and to get candy! They all split up again to get their favorites, Harry to the Chocolate Frogs, Ron to Bertie Bot's Every-Flavored Beans, Hermoine and Ginny to the Fizzing Whizbees, Luna to the Sugar Quills, and Neville the Exploding Bonbons.
As they sat outside and ate, Ginny said sarcastically, "Well, THAT was fun." Harry added, "and quite unexpected…" The group sat laughing and chatting about the day's events and wondering why they always wind up in the strangest situations. Harry quipped that somehow he seemed to be a magnet for trouble, and they laughed in agreement. As the sun set, they all decided it was time to head home. And just like that, they had apparated.
