[Beacon Academy nurse's office]
"Well other than a bit of exhaustion you're completely fine Mr Arc. I suggest you take it easy over the next following days and you should make a full recovery in no time."said the school nurse as she handed Jaune some vitamins.
"Take these before bed and they should help your healing process."
"Thank you."said Jaune as he got up from the chair he was sitting on and began to make his way out of the nurse's office.
As he was walking out of the nurse's office he noticed that team CRDL were all still knocked out as they were no longer in their armor, instead they were wearing hospital gowns with each of them still being out cold after being exposed to Paradise Waterfall!
'Man I think I went a little overboard but then again these guys are big jerks and I couldn't use that technique to what it's fully capable of so I think they will learn not to mess with me again after this.' thought Jaune as he has a feeling he struck the fear of the Brothers into team CRDL.
Meanwhile outside of the nurse's office team RWBY and the rest of team JNPR were waiting for their friend when he came out walking on his own and soon out of nowhere Ruby, Pyrrah, and Nora began hugging him.
"I'm so glad you're walking on your own."said Pyrrah's as she was squeezing her team leader tighter.
"Yeah you really scared us."said Ruby who was so worried about her best friend when he collapsed.
"Guys... I can't breathe...!"said Jaune who look like he was getting blue in the face as the combined strength of three in human strong girls was a big overwhelming for him.
"Sorry..."said Ruby has all of them let go of him as he started catching his breath.
"Whew...by the way where are Wado Ichimonji and Enma?"asked Jaune and he didn't want anyone messing with his swords.
"Don't worry Jaune I put them back in your locker so they should be. FYI next time don't forget to close your locker."said Ruby as the only reason she got into the locker in the first place was because he forgot to close it.
"Yeah... I have that bad habit sometimes where I'm sure I did something but I'm not 100% sure and at times I didn't do anything..."said Jaune as there are times he doesn't know if he closed the door or turned off the oven even though he was sure he did it.
"So spill Samurai boy what was that technique you used?"asked Yang as it was too fast for her to see what exactly he did.
"Well... have you guys heard the legends of Kozuki Oden?"asked Jaune as he was sure his friends from Mistral have heard about the legendary warrior.
"You mean the legend who was a legendary warrior who roamed the land of Mistral doing whatever he wanted and when the Great War commenced he refused to participate."said Ren who like many people from the land of Mistral he knew the legend of Kozuki Oden.
"Yeah and like the people in charge of Mistral got all mad when he wouldn't participate in the war so they sent a bunch of strong people to arrest him and execute him for treason but he ended up beating them up and sending them back with their tails between their legs."said Nora who was a big fan of the story.
"Yeah he used two katanas in battle and was said to have never lost a fight in his life."said Pyrrah, who remembers hearing about the story as her mother would often tell her about the legends of Mistral, especially the ones about Shimotsuki Ryuma and Kozuki Oden.
"Yeah well that was one of his techniques. Its called Oden two sword style Paradise Waterfall."said Jaune surprising everyone.
"But how I thought his techniques were lost to time?!"asked Weiss as Oden apparently never left any disciple of his swordsmanship style.
"Well his family, the Kozuki clan and the Arc clan are actually rather close. During the Great War my great-grandfather and the head of the Kozuki clan at the time became sworn brothers through the exchange of a cup of saki, they also exchange blood with one another officially becoming blood brothers."said Jaune with much enthusiasm as unlike everything else this was not a lie.
His great grandfather and the head of the Kozuki clan did become sworn brothers during the Great War as they met each other by chance and quickly got along with each other so well that they swore they would become brothers.
"But the Kozuki clan is no more."said Blake as she knew for a fact the family died out a long time ago.
Jaune smiled as he knew this was an entirely true, but he decided to keep it to himself for now.
"Anyway my great grandfather met Oden and after learning of the clans brotherhood he gave my grandfather a scroll about his techniques. My grandpa passed it on to me and since then I've been practicing his two sword style technique. Although I'm nowhere near that Legends level."said Jaune who knew that compared to Oden he was nothing.
"Yeah dad used to tell me about his exploits including the time Oden cut an entire Goliath in half with just one swing of his mighty swords."said Ruby with stars in her eyes as she always loved hearing that story.
"Oh please Ruby I agree he was a strong warrior who did in fact exist but there's no way he cut a Goliath in half with just his swords."said Weiss as that was almost as believable as how the King of Vale destroyed an entire army by himself.
'Weiss... unfortunately you're wrong in this one as my great-grandfather wrote it down in his journal that Oden did indeed cut down a Goliath using Paradise Waterfall but I'm not going to tell you that. Knowing you Weiss you won't listen to a word I say and just say I'm some kind of little kid or something.' thought Jaune who didn't want to deal with the brat again so he decided to let her believe what she wanted to believe.
"Dang Samurai boy you're getting more and more interesting the more I get to know you."said Yang as she punched him on the shoulder.
"Ow."said Jaune as it honestly did hurt a little but not much.
"Hey Jaune since you know the technique of a legendary warrior from the Great War do you mind showing it to me? I would really like to implement that technique with Crescent Rose!"said Ruby with excitement as she could already imagine herself now defeating her enemies in a blink of an eye.
"Well...the Oden two sword style technique usually requires the use of two swords but I think it could be adjusted a little to be able to be used with your scythe Ruby."said Jaune even though he wasn't sure if that was true.
He knew that it was probably impossible but he just couldn't say no to those puppy dog eyes... Ruby really is extremely adorable and it's hard to say no to her...
'I could teach her some of Zoro's one sword style techniques and pretend those are part of Oden's style...That could definitely work as Zoro did use a scythe once when he was defeating Killer.' thought Jaune as he was sure that one sword style could be used.
"Don't worry Ruby I'm sure it will work. Just tell me when and where and we'll practice those techniques until we're coughing up blood."said Jaune with much enthusiasm.
"Well... I wouldn't go that far..."said Ruby who didn't honestly want to train so hard that she would have to cough up blood from all the training.
"Hey if we want to level up we have to push ourselves past our limit."said Jaune as he remembers the pain his body felt every time he pushed himself over his limit.
He could hardly breathe as he collapsed the ground and felt like all of his muscles were screaming for him to stop as the pain was certainly unbearable at times. But as soon as the pain subsided he felt like he had gotten much stronger than the day he was before.
"He does have a point as if you really want to get stronger you do have to push yourself out of your comfort zone."said Pyrrah who while many considered was a prodigy, she in fact put a lot of time and energy into her training as she knew arrogance and lack of training is the downfall of many.
"Yeah I mean I can't tell you how many times I was struck by lightning just to push my muscles over my limit."said Nora as everyone looked at her with shock... no pun intended.
"You got struck by lightning?!"asked Blake as even the usually quiet girl was shocked by the fact that Nora survived being struck by lightning.
"Yeah one day I was struck by lightning and I didn't die and that's when I found out my semblance allows me to absorb electricity and make my muscles stronger."said Nora with pride as Ren just smacked his face with his open palm hand.
'That guy must have been going through a lot.' thought pretty much everyone wondering how Ren was even still alive after being with Nora for so long.
"Well if you're going to be showing Ruby Kozuki Oden's sword techniques then you have to show me as well! As fellow swordsman is your duty to help out your fellow swordsman."said Weiss with her usual huffy attitude.
"Can you just say please help me... it's a lot easier and then putting up that huffy attitude."said Jaune who understood that Weiss was just being a tsundere.
"...Okay fine can you please help me, there I said it!"said Weiss as she was blushing as she wasn't use to being so humiliated before by someone she hardly respected.
'If only she would show this side of herself more she would be way cuter.' thought Jaune who as an otaku in a past life was weak to the tsundere appeal... it's that change of attitude that was so appealing to him.
'Ah I swear some people are probably going to say I'm cliche or something but so what! I was a proud otaku in my past life and I will not deny who I am!' thought Jaune as before you can love anyone else you have to love yourself for who you are!
"Okay Weiss I will help you but I got to warn you now that my swordsmanship style is based more on power than speed well yours is the opposite. But don't worry it can be implemented if you know what you're doing."said Jaune as he remembered a certain zombie Samurai using fencing styles with a katana... so it was possible for a fencing sword to use power base techniques.
"I would like for you to help me as well since I'm also a swordsman."said Blake surprising everyone as the two of them hardly ever talked to each other.
"Wow Blake this is like the first time you've ever directly talked to me."said Jaune as Blake usually kept quiet around him.
"My Gambol Shroud is a katana as well and I believe I can use power base techniques along with my fighting style."said Blake as it was clear to Jaune that based on her facial expressions she wasn't taking no for an answer.
'Well Blake's fighting style is more consistent with ninjutsu style techniques as she is more of a ninja than anything else. Then again one of the nine red scabbards was a ninja so if Raizo could use Paradise Waterfall I'm sure Blake can use the techniques I know as well.'
"Okay Blake but you better be ready for intense training because I may be young but I can be very strict."said Jaune as Weiss looked at him nervously with some sweat falling down her forehead as she knew this was true.
"I don't have a problem with it."said Blake as she needed to know more about Jaune Arc.
'What is your connection to Ryuma Jaune Arc. Somehow you are tied to his family and I need to know what you are hiding as it's clear your hiding something... it takes one to know one after all...' though Blake as her bow twitch the little.
'Okay am I crazy or did that bow just twitch?! Blake clearly has ulterior motives in asking me to train her... she doesn't seem to want to harm me but it's clear that she has a lot of skeletons in her closet. I better be careful around her as she's hot as hell but I can tell she's trouble.' thought Jaune who needed to keep his guard up around Blake, after all he could smell that she was trouble and that whoever ends up with her will have to deal with a lot of baggage.
"Okay most of team RWBY! We will meet here later for Jaune to show us the techniques of the legendary warrior Kozuki Oden!"said Ruby with much enthusiasm as everyone giggled as always she was extremely cute.
Meanwhile in his office Ozpin was watching the video of Jaune's fight with team CRDL and looked at it with shock as he recognized that technique.
Ozpin closed his eyes as he began remembering a memory from a distant past... a memory he remembered fondly.
'Cheer up Oz! After all Oden wouldn't be Oden if it wasn't boiled!"said a man covered by shadow as he gave Ozpin a plate of oden.
"Oden..."said Ozin as he stared off into space like he was remembering something he hasn't remembered in a long time.
Hey guys PrimusPilus here with some news.
Next chapter will be the end of volume 1 so a bit of a warning to those of you who were expecting something else.
Anyway yeah Oden is in the story as he's one of my favorite characters of all time as I loved reading about him and his exploits in the One Piece manga and I even have an Oden figure.
It is one of the most prized pieces of my collection and I hope it lasts me a long time.
