Decree 24
"Expelliarmus!" little Dennis Creevey grinned happily as the wand flew from the practice dummy. That was when the first bang was heard.
Ron demanded "Tha' bloody 'ell was that?"
"Ronald! Language!" exclaimed Hermione
Fred and George repeated in squeaky voices "Ronald! Language!"
After a few minutes the ever-increasing pounding caused the door to buckle and the wall to crumble. In burst the Inquisitor who was triumphant "Ah-ha Potter! You and all your plotters! I caught you in flagrant violation of Educational Decree #24! All of you are expelled forthwith!"
I good number of the DA cowered fearfully. Breaking rules was one thing, getting caught was something else. Among the ones who weren't was Luna, who just blinked airily; Cho who looked angrily at her friend standing with the Inquisitorial Squad; there was Ron, who looked smug; Hermione a bit anxious; but Harry was positively gleeful. "Sorry Professor Umbridge, can't quite recall that one. Can you remind us?"
"I have little time, but for universal edification" her tone sweetly condescending "All Student Organisations, Societies, Teams, Groups, and Clubs are henceforth disbanded. An Organisation, Society, Team, Group, or Club is hereby defined as a regular meeting of three or more students. Pe- -"
Harry interrupted, "With all due respect, ma'am, our group doesn't fit your definition. We don't meet at all regularly. Not everyone comes every time for one thing, sometimes one or two are missing, at others ten. Also, it's not like we meet weekly or only on Wednesday. We've met three days in a row and occasionally skipped a week. So, you can see, we don't get together at all regularly." He directed a sneer at Marietta, quickly erasing the look.
"That's NOT what the decree meant Potter!" snapped Draco.
Ron gloated "But that's what it says. Harry's correct, isn't he Professor?"
"At the present." Delores allowed, with ill grace. "However, this room is closed."
Harry grinned while his nemesis was present, but it was a mixed outcome.
