Chapter 49: The Summer Begins
Izuku and friends were in the homeroom waiting for the class to start. Katsuki and Camie were having their daily makeout session, while Mina was gossiping with the girls. Izuku and Ochako were talking about how excited they were about the training camp. Kaminari was talking with Jirou about some music he discovered while also making her laugh.
"Hmm, this should do it," Izuku said as he made a checklist of all his essentials. (Izuku Midoriya. Quirk: Power Stack/One For All)
The doors opened and everyone immediately quieted down.
"Well, looks like you're improving on when to quiet down," Aizawa said, "Before we begin, I have an announcement. Midoriya, Jotaro." He turned to them. (Shota Aizawa/Eraserhead. Quirk: Erasure)
"The two of you took action and stopped a small time, low level criminal from stealing from a mall, and also managed to do so without any collateral damage to property," Aizawa stated, "The two of you are beginning to make your mark in the world of heroes. You were allowed to do so because of the special temps you had. Though I do have a few things to say about this."
Aizawa turned to Izuku.
"Problem child, you have a lot of potential with this quirk of yours, but you'd do yourself a big favor by getting some support gear to help you control that wind pressure of yours," he stated before turning to Kenshi, "And Gamer Child, you have a lot of potential. But don't go playing favorites with your gaming items."
Kenshi nodded. "Yes sir," he said. (Kenshi Jotaro. Quirk: Gamer)
"Now, as for the training camp, I just got word that the area has been changed," he stated.
The students were a bit nervous after hearing that.
"But... I just told our parents where we were headed," Sero said. (Sero Hanta. Quirk: Tape)
"As usual, some things happen and are beyond our control," Sonders said, "But it should be fun nonetheless." (Leo Sonders. Quirk: Lionheart)
"Well, we should be happy they didn't cancel it altogether," Momo commented. (Momo Yaoyorozu. Quirk: Creation) Kenshi nodded in agreement.
"Come on guys, cheer up," Kenshi said, "It's still gonna be an awesome experience! Camp! Camp! Camp! Camp!"
Soon the others began to join him. Aizawa sighed.
"Somethin' to be said about their enthusiasm," he said.
Later, Class 1-A was next to Class 1-B going on separate buses. Monoma saw the gang walking on the bus and decided to rip on them. (Neito Monoma. Quirk: Copy. Fun Fact: He's a jackass)
"Well, looks like 1-A actually had the balls to show up to this training camp," he said, "Won't be long until you're all crying to your..."
Kenshi got in front of him, with an angry look. "Rip on my friends one more time, and I break my foot off in your ass," he said, "Then Ima put your head up his ass, then his head up his ass."
"Not likely," Monoma said, keeping his grin on his face.
"Try me," Kenshi retorted.
He was determined not to let Monoma's words get to him. Later the gang were on the bus as ordered by Izuku. Ochako was happy that he took his role as class rep seriously, but still knew how to have a little fun in life. Later he was sitting down next to Ochako and writing down some ideas on how to improve his quirk. He also had ideas for a new support item to help with his arms. He then had a look on his face.
"100 bottles of smash on the wall, 100 bottles of smash," he started to sing, "If one of those smashes should happen to fail..."
He turned his attention to Katsuki who was reading a book.
"No," Katsuki said. (Katsuki Bakugo. Quirk: Explosion)
"Aww come on Kaachan," Izuku said, "You know the words..."
"99 bottles of Smash on the wall!" Ochako and Kirishima joined in, much to Katsuki's annoyance. (Ejiro Kirishima. Quirk: Hardening)
99 bottles later...
"If one of those smashes should happen to fail..." Everyone held the note and waited for Aizawa to finish it off.
The bus came to a stop and the doors opened.
"That's all the bottles of Smash on the wall," he said in his ursula deadpanned voice.
Everyone else got out of the bus.
"Finally a pit stop," Kaminari said, "But... where's Class B?" (Denki Kaminari. Quirk: Electricity. Fun Fact: If he uses electricity for too long... yay)
Someone approached Aizawa and had a smile on their face. "Eraserhead, it's been a while," she said.
Everyone looked at her and some other pros dressed like cats.
"Sparkling with eyes we rock on," said the girl with brunette hair.
"Cute cat stinger!" said a blonde woman.
"We are the wild wild pussycats!" they said in unison. They were joined by a kid.
Aizawa turned to the students, keeping his deadpan composure. "Everyone, I'd like to introduce the professional heroes, the pussycats."
Izuku got out his notebook and turned to a page about them, "The Wild Wild Pussy Cats are one of the 4 pro hero agencies that founded the Union Affairs office" he said elated to meet one of his favorite hero teams, "though they have four members, only Mandalay and Pixie-Bob showed up.
He then started to mutter even more information about them.
"There he goes again," the rest of the class said in unison.
Mandalay pointed to a distinct location.
"Your place of stay will be at the base of that mountain," she said.
"Wait a minute," Ochako said, "Then why did we stop all the way over here?" (Ochako Uraraka. Quirk: Zero Gravity. Fun Fact: She's helped Izuku develop new ways to use his quirk)
Some of the students were starting to get concerned.
"No, wait don't tell me that" Kamari started
Sero was the first to react. "RUN!" he yelled.
Aizawa smirked.
"Sorry kids, but the training camp has already started."
Pixie Bob slams her hands into the ground, allowing her to manipulate the ground to her will. Soon all the students were caught in the tremor. They were thrown into the forest below.
"Holy shipWREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECK!" Kenshi shouted as he fell.
"Feel free to use your abilities as you see fit, as you have 3 hours to make it to the facility!" Mandalay shouted, "Prepare yourselves for the forest of magical beasts!"
After a few minutes, the students got back up. Just about everyone was freaking out about what was going on. Kenshi got up and helped Momo to her feet.
"Are you ok?" he asked, to which Momo nodded.
"Wait, what did she mean by forest of magical beasts?" Jirou asked. (Kyouka Jirou. Quirk: Earphone Jack)
"I don't know, but maybe we should start walking before..." Izuku started to say before he heard a rumbling noise.
The ground shook with the sound. From beyond the shadows came a gigantic animal looking creature. Kouda stepped forward and attempted to calm it down.
"Just calm down, beast..." he said. (Koji Koda: Quirk Anivoice)
Something was wrong. Usually his quirk allowed him to speak with animals, however it wasn't working. Izuku noticed something about the creature. It was made out of dirt and earth. The beast then went for Ojiro ready for the kill. Toru jumped in front of him. Just before the beast could attack, she somehow produced a force field. Ojiro was amazed.
"How are you doing that?" he asked. (Mashiro Ojiro. Quirk: Tail)
"I don't know!" Toru said. (Toru Hagakure. Quirk: Invisibility)
"Well whatever you do, keep it up!" he said.
"Looks like we'll have to fight our way through it!" Izuku said, "Power Stack+ Full Cowling 20%!"
Electric sparks were dancing around his body and red veins appeared around him. Ochako was right behind him, standing in a martial arts pose.
"Shoji, I need you to be the eyes and ears, and tell us which routes are the best ones," Izuku said, "Iida, you take a few students on one path while Kenshi and I take the others!"
"Got it Class Rep!" Iida said, doing his signature chop pose. (Tenya Iida. Quirk: Engine)
"Well looks like we're all going to have to fight." Kenshi says as he opens his inventory. "We're fighting wild beasts, so Legend of Zelda seems perfect for this occasion." He pulls out a Lynel's Sword, slashing a beast as it ran towards him.
"The beasts surprisingly can be cut pretty easily," Momo says, noting how easily Kenshi cut the Lizard beast. She produces a longsword and tries to slash one of the Reptile beasts only for the sword to get stuck half-way through.
"What the!" The beast then knocks the sword out of her hands and then grabs her. "JOJO!" she shouted.
Kenshi notices Momo in trouble and rushes to help her, slashing the beast to pieces.
"You know Momo, just cause I made it seem easy, doesn't mean it really is." He tells her, "Its the blade Im using which made it easy to chop them. Here take this one, ill make another." Kenshi says as he hands her the sword.
"Thanks Kenshi." Momo says taking the sword from him.
"Hey love birds!" Katsuki shouted, "AM I INTERRUPTING?!" He was being thrown around like a rag doll.
Izuku went around fighting the earth based creatures using shoot style. Even though he had Full Cowl activated, he channeled most of Power Stack and OFA into his legs for enhanced power in his kicks and limit the strain on his body. Yet he was still as quick and efficient as he was in Full Cowl. One of the creatures saw him and lunged at him. Izuku got ready for a signature move.
"Manchester..." he said, "SMASH!" He jumped up and did a down kick on the creature, effectively reducing it to pieces. Literally.
Meanwhile Iida and his team were taking care of another beast. Kirishima hardened himself to deliver harden blows dealing more damage without hurting himself, while Ojiro used his tail to strike at its weak points. Mina was skating on acid while shooting streams of acid at the beast to knock it off balance. Aoyama delivered the final blow with his naval laser.
"Get away from us beast!" Mina said. (Mina Ashido. Quirk: Acid)
The class spent over 2 hours making their way through the hordes of earth beasts, inching closer and closer to the edge of the forest. As they kept going, one of the beasts was chasing after Izuku, Ochako and Kenshi. Ochako tripped and fell, injuring her knee. The beast saw her. Izuku began to have flashbacks of various scenarios where Ochako was hurt. First he saw the vision of the entrance exams, and then the brutal beating from Hayate.
"Ochako!" Izuku said.
He dashed forward. He threw his arm out, and black tentacles came from his fingers. Wrapping around the beast and stopped the monster from getting anywhere near her. 'This again.' Izuku thinks to himself remembering the accidental activation from the Sports festival.
He pulls at the tentacles, lifting the beast from the ground, tossing it over his head into the deeper parts of the forest. The whips disperse into mist as he runs towards his girlfriend.
"Ochako! Are you all right?" he asks her.
"Its just a scrape, Deku, ill be fine." Ochako tells him.
"Are you sure, i can carry you if you want, the camp shouldn't be too far from here." Izuku offered.
"Deku just..." Ochako tried to tell him but was interrupted.
"What if that monster had gotten to you before I did," Izuku said, continuing his rant, "If it weren't for that accidental release of the whips things could've gotten a lot worse, and I told myself I wouldn't let you get hurt..."
"Deku..." Ochako said, getting a little frustrated.
"I made a promise that I wouldn't let anything happen to you," Izuku said, "I should've been quicker because then I..."
"WILL YOU CHILL OUT FOR ONE GODDAMN SECOND?!" Ochako shouted, "I'm fine! God!"
"Well I can't help but worry about you!" Izuku yelled back, "Especially after what happened those few months ago! I need to be there to protect you!"
"Deku stop it!" Ochako said, "You're making a scene!"
Izuku realized he was causing a scene. Other students were staring at them "I..." he said, "I'm sorry... I guess I'm freaking out over nothing aren't I."
"You got that right," Ochako said with a bit of irritation in her tone, "I'm not a damsel in distress, and I don't need a knight in shining armor protecting me all the time!"
Izuku was stunned by those words. He started running ahead without the others. Ochako realized what she just said and then tried to chase after him.
"Izuku wait, I didn't mean..." she said. But her words fell on deaf ears as she saw him continue to run ahead.
In another location, someone was deep in the forest setting a tree on fire. He was waiting for the signal to strike. His phone rang.
"Give me the good news," he said.
"The kids are in the camp as of now Dabi," said a voice, "Wait at least 2 more days, and then the plan can begin." Dabi started to grin.
"The age of pro heroes shall come to an end," he ssaid as the tree burned to ashes.
(Oh no... Izuku and Ochako had their first fight. Will they be able to make up before the summer is over? Stay tuned...)
