Enjoy!
Scully waits for the twelve week mark in her pregnancy as if it is some magical number and still she does not feel better. She even ends up taking a day off work because of her nausea. Her only wish is that the nausea goes away by the weekend when they celebrate Chloe's birthday. The teenager convinces her parents that she just wants to have a birthday with her friends this year. Go see a movie, go out to eat, have Mulder pay. Mulder and Scully agree, but are a little sad they cannot be with her. Chloe is simply happy to be able to hang out with her friends. Wanting to be part of their daughter's day, the couple convinces Chloe to have a sleepover at the Unremarkable House since the downstairs is fully finished and only the upstairs is still being worked on. Chloe finally agrees.
"What movie did you want to see?" Chloe asks her friends as they eat lunch the afternoon of her birthday. Amanda, Kyle, his friend Brandon, and Anna think about it for a moment before throwing out their suggestions.
"We could see Under Suspicion," Brandon suggests. "The previews looked good."
"Anna, we're not seventeen," Amanda remarks. Shrugging, Anna answers, "They can sneak us in."
"First do we all want to see it?"
Finally with everyone agreeing to see it, Brandon agrees to pay for Anna's ticket leaving Amanda begging Kyle or Chloe.
"As the Birthday girl, I think you should do it," Anna remarks. Rolling her eyes, Chloe answers, "Fine, just don't tell your parents. Especially you, Amanda. Your parents would kill me."
Amanda nods knowing how strict her parents are, well her mother. Her father is fairly more relaxed. Finalizing the plan, Chloe goes to pay for the food with her dad's credit card.
When the group gets to the theater, Amanda says once they get closer to the ticket booth, "Maybe I should just watch a different movie."
"No," Brandon and Chloe state trying to get her to go along with the movie.
"My mom will kill me," Amanda begins.
"Not if she doesn't find out," Anna quickly cuts in. It takes another five minutes until Amanda relents and the entire group heads up to the cashier, Chloe taking charge and paying for the group.
"I can't believe she did that," Amanda whispers to Anna once they get inside.
"I think it's hot," Kyle comments before hugging Chloe to him and kissing her on the forehead. With a laugh, Anna tells the couple to get a room before catching up with Brandon and Amanda to get some popcorn.
It's not until they get out of the movie and head to the Unremarkable House that the group has to keep quiet until Chloe's parents are upstairs. Immediately, the teenagers start laughing and talking about watching Under Suspicion.
"How did you pay anyway?"
Shrugging, Chloe answers, "Dad's card."
"Chloe! Your parents are in the FBI and you don't think they would check this?" Kyle practically yells before a chorus of shushing is heard so Mulder and Scully will not wake up.
"Not if we don't say anything," Chloe emphasises knowing that is the original plan from earlier in the night.
When she wakes up, Scully finds all the kids asleep on the floor and smiles hoping to feel well enough to make them breakfast. Instead, she finds herself in the bathroom, but feeling fainter then usual. Only being able to just yell for Mulder before she lies her head on the cool of the bathroom floor, does she come close to passing out. Logically she needs water, physically she may throw up again. Scully is finally inwardly debating if she can still sit up when Mulder enters the room and crouches beside her. Smoothing his girlfriend's hair back, Mulder asks, "Hey, what's wrong?"
"Dehydrated," Scully answers almost in tears wishing there were some other way to fix how bad her morning sickness is adding, "Need a doctor."
Understanding that, Mulder leaves the bathroom and tells Chloe to call Maggie and watch Audrey until their grandmother gets there. A little in shock the seventeen year old asks, "Is Mom okay?"
"She will be," Mulder announces asking Chloe to give him his keys and a water bottle before heading back upstairs to help Scully. Chloe nods making sure to keep her friends in the kitchen so they do not notice anything or ask questions.
At the emergency room, Mulder sits in the waiting room filling out Scully's charts as she mentions something about still being dizzy.
"Drink," He commands worriedly just as a a nurse comes by to bring Scully to a room. Somehow even after explaining that his girlfriend is dehydrated and pregnant it still takes the place a half hour to find a bed for her. Honestly, they could probably just stick her with an IV of fluids in the waiting room.
"Dana Scully?" A nurse calls out prompting Mulder to help Scully stand and head toward the nurse.
"We've got a bed for you. Sorry about the wait, we had a terrible car accident that's been taking up most of the beds. I'll lead you in," the nurse explains leading them behind a curtain. Helping Scully onto the hospital bed, the nurse begins taking her vitals and asking questions all of which Scully is coherent to answer- and answers well. As he listens to the question and answers, Mulder realizes he hates that they have so much practice at this from their copious hospital stays. He barely registers the nurse tell him something and asks her to repeat herself. The nurse gives him a tight smile before telling him she will grab another bag of IV fluids. He can tell she is busy. Once she leaves, Mulder asks Scully how she feels.
"Hoping to feel better," She mumbles looking down at her current IV bag of fluids. Looking back at him, Scully teases, "I blame you for this."
"I blame California," He answers back causing his girlfriend to smirk. Kissing her on the forehead, Mulder tells her he is going to step out for a minute to call Maggie and Chloe. Leaving the room Mulder finds a more secluded spot of the ER and dials his home number.
"Fox?" Maggie asks on the other line eager to hear news of her daughter.
"Hey, Maggie. Dana's doing okay. They're pumping her with fluids now. I was told someone will come by at some point for an ultrasound, but don't know how long we'll actually be here. How are the girls?"
"Audrey's fine. She's playing in her bouncer. Chloe is off with Anna for the day- something about retail therapy," Maggie answers, chuckling a little at the end adding, "These girls of yours are going to cost you a fortune."
"Don't I know it," Mulder answers with a small laugh of his own as he looks back at the door he just left. "I'm going to head back in with Scully. I just wanted to keep you updated. Give Audrey a kiss for me and tell her we'll be back soon."
"I will Fox. Take care of my daughter," Maggie answers stressing the my.
"I always do," Mulder answers sincerely before flipping his phone shut and heading back into the room with Scully.
The couple finally comes home a few hours later to find the house cleaned and food in the crockpot on the counter. Scully is only a little surprised the furniture is not rearranged. A small smile escapes her as she remembers her grandmother coming to babysit and rearranging all her mom's furniture. Sometimes she would rope the children into helping her.
"We're home!" Mulder calls out hoping someone will appear to greet them.
"Are you feeling any better, Dear?" Maggie asks coming down the stairs and heading for her daughter. Nodding, Scully answers, "I was recommended a sea sickness band if it keeps up."
"Sea sickness band?" Maggie echoes. Shrugging, Scully answers, "It's supposed to help with all sorts of nasuea. I'm going to see about ordering some or where I can get them."
"I hope they help."
Sighing, Scully answers, "Me too."
The couple is able to find and purchase sea sickness bands for Scully by the end of the week just in time for her to start a teaching class a Quantico since the other teacher quit just before the semester.
"How was it?" Mulder asks when Scully comes to Mulder's apartment later that day. She sighs, tired, putting her purse down.
"Fine. As well as can be expected with a fresh group of students," She supplies putting out her hands for her baby. Handing Audrey over, Mulder also hands over the burp cloth leaving him free to begin dinner. With her daughter in her arms, Scully follows Mulder as he cooks each talking about their days until the front door slams shut.
"Chloe?" Scully calls out. Never getting an answer, the parents simply hear their oldest daughter shutting the bathroom door. Handing Audrey back to Mulder, Scully heads toward the back of the apartment to find her daughter, convinced that there is something going on. She makes her way to the second story bathroom where she finds Chloe rummaging through the medicine cabinet.
"You okay?" Scully asks causing her daughter to jump. Not wanting her mom to see her, Chloe hestitantly greets her before asking if she can borrow some make up for her date with Kyle that night. Nodding, Scully gets out of the way for her daughter to pass by.
"Thanks Mom," Chloe replies heading toward her parents' room. Just as she turns the handle, Scully tells her daughter, "I'd also use some of my good concealer so your father doesn't see the hickey on your neck."
Eyes wide, Chloe briefly stares at her mother before quickly entering the room and shutting the door.
