*Fair warning* this is the original story I wrote and finished back in 2005. It has not been read or edited in 15 years but since I found the complete chapters recently, I thought I would upload the original just for fun. It is different from the current story I am in the process of rewriting and I'm *hoping* i've gotten better in the last 15 years. I hope you enjoy!

Hermione stared in horror as she watched the golden chain hanging around her neck slowly rise from her chest, spinning on its own. She tried not to focus on the goings on around her. Time was moving backward at such a rate, her eyes could not focus on one thing.

She thought back to five minutes before. She had been lying on her bed in her head girl's room, using the last bit of her weekend to study for the N.E.W.T.'s even though the year had just begun. For her it was never to early to study, especially for something so important. She was starting to get frustrated because her curtains in the corner kept swaying as if the wind was blowing through them. There was no reason for them to be swaying, crookshanks wasn't batting them, as he was sleeping on a chair by her desk and there was no wind in the room what so ever; her windows were closed. Frustrated out of her mind, she stood up and grabbed her wand, ready to petrify her curtains if need be. She raised her wand, about to mutter the spell, when a hand came out of nowhere also holding a wand. For once Hermione's mind was blank as she heard a strange spell muttered and a clear blue light fly towards the time turner resting on her chest. She heard a maniacal laughter as the time turner rose and began to spin at a ferocious pace.

And there she was, stuck flying through time with no idea as to where, or what time she was headed. She opened her eyes a moment, doing her best to focus here eyes on something. Things were moving to fast still, she couldn't discern anything, only what she thought to be a body blur through the room every so often.

'So I've gone back at least a year, there's a new head girl. Lovely, just lovely.'

She closed her eyes again and waited for everything to stop. After what seemed like hours, she felt her feet hit something solid and dared to open her eyes. She had stopped turning finally, and she looked down at her time turner. It was lying there on her chest unharmed. She breathed a sigh of relief.

'Well, at least I have this, now if I can get to Dumbledore maybe he can fix all of this.'

Before she could act, the door swung open to reveal a curly haired, red headed, tall, and obviously frustrated witch. She didn't seem to notice Hermione at first, just walking by and throwing books on her bed muttering something about some James. Hermione stared at the witch, she looked vaguely familiar, and those eyes, she swore she had seen them before. She watched as the other witch paced around her room, looking for something, completely oblivious to Hermione just standing there in the middle of the room. After about five minutes, Hermione cleared her throat, scaring the wits out of the other witch who now turned to face her. Hermione gasped, realization finally hitting her, she knew who this was! It was Harry's mother, Lily! Lily watched Hermione in a mix of shock and curiosity. She stepped closer to Hermione, obviously wondering how she had gotten into the room.

"Um, is there anything I can help you with?"

It took a moment for Hermione to find her voice, "Oh, um, can you take me to the Headmasters office please?"

Lily eyed her warily, "Um sure, follow me."

Lily led her out of the room and into the common room, Hermione took this brief moment to look around, nothing had changed in almost thirty years. She quickly followed Lily throughout the corridors until they had reached the familiar gargoyle statue. Lily whispered the password, chocolate frogs, and the statue scooted over to a reveal a staircase. Hermione mumbled a quick thank you to Lily and stood on the staircase and twiddled her thumbs until it had reached the entrance to the headmaster's office. Gathering up her courage, she knocked on the door. She heard a familiar voice beckon her inside and she opened the door and walked through, not looking up at the very surprised headmaster.

"Professor Dumbledore, there is a problem. I know you don't know who I am, but I'm from the future. See, I was sitting in my Head Girl room when someone tried to hit me with a spell, but it hit my time turner, but then again, that might have been what they wanted to do, but anyway, it hit it and then it started spinning and it wouldn't stop for the longest time. When it did, I ended up in the head girl room; I think I scared the wits out of the Head Girl. I didn't say anything to her, just that I wanted to see you, but I still have my time turner intact thankfully. I know this sounds a bit far fetched but I'm telling you the truth, I swear."

Dumbledore held up his hand and gestured for her to sit down in the chair in front of his desk. Hermione crossed the room and sunk into the cushions, doing her best not to have a nervous breakdown.

He offered her a lemon drop which she took gratefully. "Now my dear, I do believe you, no doubt about that, but I must ask, how did you come to posses a time turner in the first place? I didn't think the ministry gave them out to young witches."

"They don't. In my third year I took on a very hard schedule, taking all possible courses. My head of house, Professor McGonagall, owled the ministry for one so I could take all of the classes. Between third and fourth year I only dropped one class, divination, so I've had to keep using it."

Dumbledore looked at her, the same twinkle in his eyes, though brighter it seemed, "Well, it seems you are quite the student. You will need to stay here until we can figure a way to get you back to your own time. You will have to drop one or two classes now seeing as how you no longer have a time turner. Now, what is your name?"

"Hermione Granger"

"Well than Hermione, what house are you in?"

"Gryffindor Sir."

The headmaster smiled, "Ah, well then, we don't have any spare beds in the normal dorms, but I do think Miss Evans will be able to lend you her spare bedroom, seeing as how the two of you have already met. Miss Evans, you can open the door now."

Hermione turned around and watched as the door opened and a very red looking Lily Evans walked into the headmaster's office. "I'm sorry Professor, I just couldn't help myself, I didn't mean to eves drop I swear."

Dumbledore shook his head and smiled at her, "No reason for you to apologize Miss Evans. If you could, please show Miss Granger to the Head Girl rooms, that is if you don't mind sharing?"

Lily's eyes brightened as she grabbed Hermione by the arm, practically dragging her out of the room. However, before she could completely leave the office, Dumbledore called out to her, "Oh, and Miss Evans, please do not share any of what you have heard, especially with Mr. Black and Mr. Potter."

"Of course Professor, no worries."

Lily grabbed Hermione once again and raced down the stairs and out of the hallway, towards Gryffindor Tower. Hermione sighed as she tried to keep up with Lily.

'Well, here goes nothing.'
