Prologue

A/N - So this is my first fanfic, and it's going to be a Trio Project.
This will be an alternate course of events; basic backstory is, after Lisanna's death, Natsu went into a rage and left Fairy Tail.
Since then the other members have looked for him, but one by one they gave up over time.
With the exception of two in particular.
So this will be a Natsu X Erza & Mirajane... hope you guys enjoy.

The Dark Guild 'Thanatos' was renowned and feared as a murder guild; it's members all experienced assassins, taking pay in exchange for their services of murder.
In the Eastern Forests of Fiore, their hideout laid in an abandoned coal mine, the entrance guarded by a four man squad of Dark Wizards.
One of these Wizards, Geor, grunted in disappointment as his dice rolled a six, rather than a seven.
The one opposing him, Klyne, laughed at his guild mates unluckiness as he swept in the betting pool to his side of the table they both sat at.
"Looks like I win again" Klyne laughed at Geor, "Better luck next time Geor".
Geor grunted and replied, "I don't know how, but you have to be cheating".
Klyne 'tsked' and waved a finger back and forth, "Now now Geor, show some dignity in losing a bet".
"Then explain to me why you always guess right whilst I always guess wrong" Geor gritted his teeth, convinced some cheating had to be involved.
"You have bad luck... and my luck is good" Klyne answered simply as he shook his hands, "I bet a hundred on three".
"I match that hundred" Geor grunted as Klyne threw the pair of die.
Sure enough, one of them landed on a two and the other on a one.
"There's no way" Geor growled.
"Seems there is" Klyne said as he grabbed for his winnings and dice.
But Geor grabbed the wrist of the hand reaching for the dice, "I've been wondering..."
Klyne blinked at Geor in confusion, "Yes?"
"Why do you always have to have the dice before you hand them to me?"
Klyne gulped, "I'm hoping to shed some of my luck on them" he replied.
But Geor wasn't having any of that; he grabbed the dice.
"What do you say?" Geor said as he held up the two die, "I bet everything I have, five thousand... on three".
Klyne gulped, "Given your luck are you sure-"
"I'm positive" Geor growled, "Do you match it?"
"Why would I-?"
"I have bad luck right?" Geor sneered, "So why are you worried?"
Klyne couldn't say a word as Geor threw the dice.
One stopped... on two... the other stopped... on one.
"Amazing..." Klyne stuttered, "It landed on the same-"
But Geor picked up the dice again and threw... a two... and a one...
"I doubt I'm this lucky..." Geor squinted at Klyne.
Klyne was ready to book it as he stood up quickly... but as he did numerous pairs of dice fell from his sleeves.
And as Geor had guessed, every single one of them would be a loaded die.
"I hope you're ready to die" Geor grunted at Klyne.
As Geor began to stand and Klyne prepared to run however, one of the two other guards hissed at them.
"What's wrong with you Holt?" Geor asked the man who hissed; he was in no mood to hold his temper.
"Save your anger... someone is approaching..." the one named Holt replied in a low voice.
Geor and Klyne both forgot about the dice, and they... along with the fourth guard Toro... stared after the direction Holt was staring at.
Holt's magic was sensory type magic; for a hundred metres around the entire entrance, he had laid invisible tripwires or webs, which if someone were to trigger them, he would be alerted of them immediately and know exactly where they were.
It was for this magic he was nicknamed The Spider.
Sure enough, a few moments later, a person began to come into view, walking calmly toward the four men.
They wore full armor; breastplate, greaves and gauntlets.
Their face was half covered by a white scaly scarf... and as they came closer they realised 'they' was a she.
She had long scarlet hair, and in both hands, held two razor sharp swords.
"Seems we have an intruder" Geor growled then turned to the fourth guard Toro, "You head to the smelters to alert the Master; the three of us should be able to take her, but best to alert him anyway".
Toro nodded and began to blur, and using his speed type magic, he raced into the depths of the cave.
By this time, the scarlet haired woman was close enough to be within earshot.
"Seems one of them has gone to warn the others" She said to herself calmly as she approached the entrance and the three remaining guards, "No matter; the result will be the same either way".
She flashed her swords... and stopped advancing.
Geor, Klyne and Holt all held their breath; who would make a move first?
"I give you all one single chance to step aside and turn yourselves in" the woman announced to them, a mere twenty metres away.
Klyne was the first to recover from bated breath.
As he drew a throwing knife he smirked, "Little miss, we give you one chance; turn around and be chased down, or die where you stand".
The woman raised a sword defensively, prepared for Klyne to throw the knife, "I have a job to do; I will not turn away until the job is completed".
"Then die where you stand" Klyne smirked, throwing his hand back, then forward, throwing the knife at the woman.
She could see it move as though in slow motion, predicting it's path; she adjusted her sword to intercept it, but at the last moment before contact, it disappeared.
She sensed magic was used, but where was the knife?
Then her eyes widened, a cold shiver down her back.
She spun the other sword behind her, covering the entirety of her back... and as she suspected she heard the definite clang of metal striking metal; she intercepted the knife.
Klyne looked surprised; she was the first in a while not to fall for that.
"Spacial magic" the woman said, gritting her teeth, "Your magic allows you to transport mass to different locations".
Klyne smiled as he drew two more knives from pockets unknown, "Indeed, but knowing that won't help you any".
"Holt, pay attention to your web whilst Klyne and I take care of this wench" Geor grunted to Holt, who following his words, took several steps back, focusing on his web; no other intruders so far.
Klyne smirked at Geor, "Well then Muscle Brain, you ready?"
Geor nodded and leapt foward with surprising speed.
The woman brought up her sword as Geor threw a punch; she swept her sword in a motion to cut Geor's arm off... but instead the sword she wielded snapped.
As it did, Geor threw his other fist, forcing the woman to block his fist with her second sword; it shattered from his fist, and his fist barreled through, punching her breastplate... and cracking a hole in it's centre, bruising the skin beneath.
As this all happened, Klyne threw his knives, using his magic to force the knives to attack her rear, not her front.
As she was pushed back from Geor's fist, she spun on her heel, using the stubs of her swords to deflect the two blades.
She completed a three-sixty and jumped back from Geor, who threw another fist, and gaining distance between herself and them.
Round One was complete, and the woman was so far coming out the worst for wear; her swords were useless, her armor compromised, and she felt a few of her ribs had been bruised... possibly even broken.
Klyne and Geor were a little shocked however; she was the first they encountered in a long while who had endured their combo.
"Not bad at all" she gasped out, "I can only assume your magic is some kind of enhancement type".
"Iron Flesh" Geor answered, "I keep it turned on at all times; makes it stronger that way, stronger than steel that thin anyway".
"And the use of your magic was well managed as well" she said to Klyne, "If my reaction time were slower I would have two knives in my back".
Klyne drew out two more knives, "It usually works; you're the first in a while who was able to dodge my attacks".
"And judging from what you said earlier, the man behind you is a sensory type" she continued, nodding to Holt, "He has some kind of invisible web around here that allows him to sense intruders".
"Good guess" Klyne and Geor chanted together.
"Then the other one... a speed type... here to act as messenger in case of an intruder" she finished, "A perfectly balanced team for your job here".
"The Master is a smart guy" Geor grunted, "Even if I don't like Klyne we work well together in combat".
"And though I hate this muscle brain here" Klyne continued, "He acts as the perfect distraction for me".
"I applaud your teamwork" she said, "But answer me this".
Klyne and Geor blinked at this; what did she want to know?
"My name is Erza Scarlet" Erza announced herself, "And right now, I'm looking for someone named Natsu Dragneel; tell me where he is".

A/N - Well I hope that was a decent Prologue for you guys; be sure to follow the story to get alerts for when I upload the next chapter, where Erza fights the Thanatos Guild... and discovers a major clue regarding Natsu. Have a good day everyone.
