Hello, everyone. Your girl's back to update another chapter for you all. Iruma is still wanting to forget about his parents to get rid of the pain they caused. Even though a certain blonde, bunny character says otherwise. Thanks for the suggestions for the chapter. I don't own the canon characters as they rightfully belong to their actual owners while I only own my OCs.
"Yeah. As I said, Mama doesn't know about me. She forgot about me. Her memory was erased. She knows I'm a member of the family, but she thinks I'm from another branch of the family," Iruma, as Momiji, said.
Iruma and Ameri met up in the audience room to read the latest chapter of "Fruits Basket". Ameri was getting more and more into the series.
After catching up on some chapters, Iruma is now on the chapter where Momiji tells Tohru about how the curse affects the Zodiac members' relationship with their parents. When Momiji talked about his mother and little sister, Ameri couldn't help but imagine that they might be just as cheerful as him. However, the part where Momiji revealed to Tohru that his mother doesn't know him had surprised her.
When they arrived to pick up his father from work, Momiji's mother acted like he was someone else's child. Ameri could that something up when she said that his mother would be worried if he goes home late. After his mother and sister left, Momiji said that he had to apologize to his father and explained to Tohru that his mother's memories were erased.
"Did you know, when children who are possessed by a Zodiac animal are always born two months premature? Imagine what that was like for her. She just got together with the man she truly loved... They were having their first child together... And she must have been so worried when the baby came early."
Iruma couldn't help think about how he was born prematurely as well. Thanks to that fruit he got from downtown, Iruma remembers a little when he was a newborn baby. A beautiful woman with white hair and blue eyes was the midwife that delivered him into the world. She was really nice too. The nice midwife cared for him during the first weeks after he was born. He felt safe whenever she held him in her gentle embrace. She would talk to him like he would understand someday. She would usually sing him songs to smooth his crying. Her voice was so soft. Her singing felt that it was from another world.
Ameri was starting to be at the edge of her seat. She always loves it when more details of the curse come in. Even though she hates it as much as the characters.
"And after all that, the first time she tried to hold her new baby, to see that baby turn into a newborn animal... How horrified that would be to a new mother, any mother," Iruma says, thinking what Momiji said. He can't but wonder if children who're half-human and half-demon would face the same thing as the Zodiac members.
Hearing Momiji just said, Ameri never thought about how badly did the curse affected the cursed Sohma members' relationship with their parents, especially their mothers. She felt that her heart was going to break again from another chapter.
"I know now when a mother has a cursed child, often she would either become overprotective of it, or she'll reject it completely. My mama was one of the ones who rejected her child. She rejected me with her whole body. And she arranged it so she wouldn't have to see me. Even then, she would scream if she saw me in the same room. Thinking about it now, I guess she was broken on the inside like... like Kana," Repeating the words of Momiji, Iruma wonders if his mother was just as broken on the inside too. His memories as an infant had her looking so sad with a tear-stained face.
Ameri thought Momiji's mother was being unfair to her child, who didn't even ask to be cursed in the first place. The redhead girl could understand at least that it must have been difficult to raise a child who could turn into an animal if they were hugged by the opposite sex. Especially if said child is the opposite sex from you.
"Momiji, Mama's very, very sick. But if she forgets about you, they say she might get better. I know this is just as painful for you, too, Momiji... But Papa will love you twice as much to make up for her love. If you love Mama like I do... Momiji, can we do this to save her life?" Momiji's father begged.
Ameri couldn't believe that Momiji's mother was willing to have her memories of her own son erased just because she couldn't stand being the mother of a cursed child despite being innocent as any child.
"Is this truly what you want? Do you really want to forget about your son? Are you certain you won't regret it?" Hatori asks the hateful mother.
Hearing Hatori's words, Ameri thought back to when her father had told her about a story of him meeting a demon who was summoned to the Human against his will and took a human lover. However, something happened that caused the demon to want to erase his memories of his time in the Human World. Henri told her that she was just a baby when this happened. She had just lost her own mother when that happened. Even though she didn't know what happened to her mother
Deep down, Ameri hope that Momiji's mother would say that she regretted not being a good mother to Momiji. However, that hope came down when the blonde woman finally made her among the characters that Ameri hated by saying the last words she remembered as Momiji's mother.
"Right now, the greatest regret of my life... is giving birth to that... that creature!" She said without any hesitation.
"And so, I was erased from Mama's memories. After two months of recovering, she was able to smile again. Sometimes I wonder if I did the right thing."
Feeling tears were getting ready to form in her eyes, Ameri couldn't imagine if her own father would do that to her too. She didn't want to imagine her kind and protective father would want to forget about her. Ameri didn't even want to think that her own mother probably chose to forget about her if she didn't want her daughter in the first place. Maybe that's why her father doesn't want to talk about her mother...
Trying to protect her from the painful knowledge that her own mother didn't want her.
"But you know there's something I believe... I want to live my life with all my memories. Even if those memories are painful, even if they do nothing but hurt me, even if they're memories I want to forget... As long as I carried them with me, as I hold onto them, I'll be glad that I have them. Because there isn't a memory worth forgetting. Because someday... Someday, I'll be strong enough that they won't hurt me anymore. That's why I didn't want Mama to forget me. I wanted her to hold on a little longer. But I guess that was selfish of me. It'll be our secret?"
Iruma was about to do Tohru's lines when Ameri had suddenly hugged him out of nowhere. Being surprised by her sudden hug, Iruma drop the manga. the blue-haired boy didn't know that Ameri was a hugger.
"Ameri-san!" Iruma cried out.
Even though she wanted to cry, Ameri hold off her tears. Hearing Momiji's belief, Ameri thought about what her father told her how erasing memories is for the best for everyone for both worlds. But seeing how much Momiji and Hatori went through to have their loved ones forget about them, Ameri didn't want to do that to anyone. She didn't want to forget about Iruma no matter what. She wanted to create every memory with him, both happy and sad.
"So... so do I. I don't want to forget the people in my life. I shouldn't want to erase my painful memories just because they were made from bad moments. They can help me become a stronger demon than before. That's why... I'll fight to keep my memories," The redhead girl says as she let Iruma go.
Iruma stared at Ameri with amazement. Even though her father, Henri, could erase someone's memory with just a single spell, Ameri didn't want to erase her memories no matter what.
"I wish that I have Momiji-kun's strength of trying to hold onto his memories. Momiji-kun, you're really a strong character," Iruma thought.
Teacher lobby
Kalego looks through the window of the teacher's lobby and watches the pink petals of Iruma's large trees fall from their branches. He remembers how he and his lover would walk through the park to have a picnic under the same trees. He would often tell her how he might take some seedlings with him when he return home and study them, and maybe plant some for his students to enjoy. He was the only one in the room at the moment.
The dark purple-haired man thought back to what Sullivan said. After all this time, the mighty Kalego had erased the memories of the woman he loved for whatever reasons he didn't even remember. He couldn't believe that he wanted to forget about her. In his memories, his beloved always seems so important to him. Whenever another male even dares look at her, he would send looks at them for even looking at what's the most precious thing to him.
"You got that apple from Iruma-kun?" Deli asks Suzy as they enter the lobby.
"Yes. Yis. That boy is so sweet. Yis. He came to apologize to me for always making a mess in the Diaboltany Tower. Yis. But I ensured him that it was alright. Yis. He's not the only one for making a mess in my class. Yis," Suzy replied.
"That's true. That kid is very unusual for a demon. Aside from all that eating, he barely acts like one in the first place," Dali added.
Kalego cleared his throat to let those two know that he's here. When he heard that Suzy got an apple from Iruma, he felt a strange feeling in his chest.
"Kalego-sensei? What are you doing here all alone?" Dali asks the teacher he mentored all those years ago.
"It's none of your concern of what I'm doing. But what are you doing with that thing, Stolas-sensei?" The dark purple-haired man demanded, pointing at the red fruit that the blonde woman was holding.
Suzy holds onto the apple tighter just in case. She knows that Kalego hates the fruits, but he shouldn't try to stop the other teachers from enjoying them. Iruma was willing to share his creation with the staff without asking much in return. A rare trait among demons.
"Iruma-kun gave this to me when he came to apologize for what he thinks problems that he created. Yis," Suzy answered.
Kalego could feel the strange feeling was tingling in his chest when Suzy mentioned that his tiny student came to her to apologize for everything. Well, he was glad that Iruma apologized to Suzy for the troublesome trees, the dark purple-haired man felt anger for some reason. However, Kalego wasn't angry at Iruma for giving his creation away again. But rather, he was angry at the other teachers for some reason.
Kalego didn't want to believe that this strange emotion was jealousy. Why was he jealous of Suzy and the others because Iruma gave them apples. Iruma gave him one, and that was enough for him. He didn't know why this ugly feeling was growing inside of him when there's no reason for him to be jealous of his co-workers. They all love that silly fruit that no one had ever heard of before. They always behave like children instead of the adults they are supposed to be.
And yet...
The dark purple-haired man couldn't get rid of his jealousy. Iruma giving away his apples for anyone just because he's that kind. What does Kalego expect? The boy giving only him the apples. That wouldn't be fair to the others who taught Iruma and the rest of the Abnormal Class if he was the only one that got those apples.
But why did Kalego felt that way?
"Kalego-sensei, I've heard you took Iruma-kun to the amusement park during the weekend. So how did that go? Did you make sure nothing happened to him since Sullivan-sama trusted you with such a precious treasure?" Dali kept asking about the event.
Kalego could feel his patience fading away more and more as his former mentor kept asking about his weekend. Kalego will never tell his co-workers about Iruma's past without the boy's permission. That was up to Iruma himself on wanting to tell his other teachers about his parents or not. As long as Iruma wants his past and his true relations to Sullivan to remain a secret, Kalego will respect his tiny student's decision. No one else can make him.
No one will ever hurt Iruma again as long Kalego remains by his side. Even if the familiar contract breaks, Kalego will still protect the boy no matter what. He won't ever forgive himself if he broke his promise. Iruma is someone that deserves to be protected by someone he trusted.
Thank you for reading this chapter. Even with Momiji's talk, Iruma still wants to erase his memories. Even Ameri now wants to fight to keep her memories to become a stronger demon. Kalego is jealous that the other teachers are getting apples from Iruma instead of just only him. I'm thinking about bringing Kalego's older brother and uncle into one chapter at least. And no, they don't even know about Kalego's mystery lover. But they do know that Kalego was missing for a year a long time ago.
