"Sir.."
"Mr. Malfoy, your wife…"
"…make a decision."
Scorpius kept running those words in his head. The medwizards, who were called on scene after the building fell. The healer that was in charge of his wife's treatment, telling him that they have done everything they can and Scorpius having to make a decision in the morning. He didn't want to make any decision all he wanted was his wife back. He wanted to look in her blue eyes again.
Scorpius sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He has done it all night; it was probably a mess right now. It was to be a simple day. Rose just wanted to get everything for the baby. Scorpius didn't mind spending the afternoon with his wife. They were just walking down the Ally to the baby store when the building fell. He pushed her out of the way. Before he knew there were aurors and medwizards on the scene. The aurors were taking people statements and the medwizards were checking on everyone. Rose was hurt the most. All Scorpius had was a starch on his arm.
He followed the medwizards to St. Mungo's and stood in the waiting room until someone told him where his wife was. He knew when his in-laws and parents showed up because they were asking him questions that he didn't have the answers to. Ron and Draco stood by his side when the healer came in and told him what was going on. The healer took Scorpius to Rose's room. Her parents and his parents looked at her before leaving him alone with her. Scorpius took a breath before falling in the chair and taking Rose's hand in his.
The afternoon sun had set when there was a knock on the door. The only light was coming from above the bed. Scorpius watched as Al came in the room. Scorpius wondered what he was doing here. Scorpius knew that the Weasleys were here as they came in through out the night. Grandmum Weasley cried as she saw Rose laying there. His mother-in-law came in and asked if he wanted a break, he shook his head. He knew that Ron wasn't happy by the look on his face when he saw his daughter laying in the bed. His own parents asked if he needed anything like food or a change of clothes, but he just shook them off.
"Scorpius," Al looked at his cousin. Scorpius knew that they were close, all the Weasley cousins were. "I hate to do this."
"Then don't," Scorpius hissed.
"It's my job, Scorpius," Al took a breath. "I need your statement. I needed sooner rather than later." Scorpius glanced at Rose's face before turning to her cousin. He told him what had happen. Al asked a few questions to make sure that he had everything. "Everything is going to be okay," Al said as he turned towards the door.
"Is it," Scorpius finally snapped. "My wife may not make it. They have done everything they could because of the baby. If Rose doesn't wake up by tomorrow morning, they have to take the baby out," Scorpius gave a short laugh. "We don't even have a middle name for him yet." Scorpius looked at Rose. "I have to decide to let her live or die. I don't want her to live this way, but I don't know if I can live without her. Either way I have to raise our son by myself. I don't know if I can be a good father to him without Rose there. I'm going to have to tell him all about his mum and how amazing she was." Al opened his mouth, but Scorpius waved him off. "I know I'll have my family and yours to help out but…" Scorpius couldn't finish his thought.
Al didn't know what to do, but he knew Scorpius had a lot on his shoulders right now. Al didn't know what he would do without Alice in his life. Al did was nod and left Scorpius with his wife.
Scorpius stood when he snapped at Al, so he too his seat again and grabbed Rose's hand. Soon he was falling asleep and dreaming.
Scorpius looked at his newborn son, who was in his crib at the hospital. They had just taken out of Rose a couple of days ago. His eyes were opened, and he was looking at Scorpius. Scorpius saw that his eyes were blue like his mother's.
Scorpius smiled at his son. "You got your mother's eyes," He really looked at his son and saw how much he looked like both. He had his mother's nose and the Malfoy chin. He saw Rose everywhere on their son. Scorpius let out a laugh. "You look like the both of us." Scorpius didn't see any hair on him yet and wondered what color it would be. He sat there staring at his son.
"Jason, it's going to be just us," Scorpius reached over and Jason grabbed his finger. Scorpius heart broke a little. He wished that he could take his son from the crib, but he was early, and he had to be in this crib. "Your mum is gone," A tear fell from Scorpius' eye. When Rose didn't wake up, the healer took Jason out of her. Scorpius was glad when he heard the first cries of his son. They waited another day to see Rose would wake but she didn't. Scorpius knew in his heart that she wasn't coming back. He talked to her parents and they agreed to let her go. They said goodbye to her. They even got Hugo out of Hogwarts so he could say goodbye to his sister. "It's me and you against the world," Jason gave him a look, like we don't have to be alone. Scorpius smiled. "I know that we have both sets of grandparents, a lot of Weasleys, an aunt and uncle to help," Scorpius let out a laugh. "Maybe we won't be alone." Jason gave him a look like we got this Dad.
Scorpius knew than that he had a middle name for his son. He had the same eyes as his mother and Rose and her brother shared the same eye color. "Jason, what do you think of Hugo as a middle name?" Jason only blinked; Scorpius took that as a yes. "Jason Hugo Malfoy," Scorpius said his name.
"Daddy," Scorpius turned and saw his four-year-old son running to him. He opened his arms and Jason jumped into them. Scorpius took in the smell of his son. He looked over his shoulder to see Hermione make her way over to him. Hermione had taken Jason to see her muggle family. Scorpius turned back to Jason. "Did you have fun with Grandmum Hermione?" Jason nodded into his shoulder. Scorpius turned to his mother-in-law. "Was he good?"
Hermione nodded. "Yes, he was," Jason peaked out of Scorpius shoulder to look at his grandmother. "But Grandmother Jean was looking for you." Scorpius nodded. After Rose died, Grandmother Jean had been there for Scorpius and Jason. "I told you that should have come."
Scorpius smiled. "Sorry, but your family has a way to question everything and ask me if I will ever get married again." Jason was getting heavy, so Scorpius put him down. Jason ran around the yard.
Hermione gave a weak smile. "You know Rose would want you to move on."
"I know, but Rose was my soulmate," Scorpius stuffed his hands in his pocket and looked at Jason.
Hermione followed Scorpius eyes and knew that Scorpius was never going to be married again. All she could say. "Okay," She yelled out to Jason, who came running back and gave her hug goodbye. Hermione looked back and saw father and son, chasing each other. She smiled because Rose would be happy for them.
"Dad," Jason came running into Scorpius' office at home. "It came," Jason was waving his Hogwarts letter in his hand.
Scorpius pushed back and hugged his son. "I told you it would come," Jason was waiting days for it to come. "Did you write back to let them know you were coming?" Jason nodded. "Well let's see what you are going to need," Scorpius held out his hand for the school list.
"Do you think that we can go this weekend to get everything?" Jason asked. Scorpius nodded. "I'm going to write Remus to see if he got his letter," Jason ran from the room.
Later that night as they were having dinner, Jason asked. "What house do you think I'm going to be in?"
"Well, any house would work. I was in Slytherin, and your mum was in Gryffindor. So, I think you will fit in anywhere." Scorpius smiled at his son.
On September 1st, Scorpius got a letter from Jason telling him that Jason was in Slytherin, and Remus was in Gryffindor.
'Dad,
Do I really need take O.W.L.'s? I'm going to be working with you at the family company. My professor are not holding back on us. I can hear you saying that I can do this. I know I can. Remus is doing worse than me; he keeps changing his hair when he is studying.
In other news, I'm going to kill Mel, she is very annoying. I hate to portal with her. She thinks that she is smarter than me. I have to keep reminding her that my grandmother was the brightest witch of her age, so I should have gotten some of her smarts. I also tell her that my dad is smart too, but she thinks she is better than me. I want to strangle her.
I love you and miss you,
Jason.'
Scorpius laughed at the letter that his son wrote to him. He was glad that Jason was doing well in school, and he had a feeling that Jason met his match in Melody Winters, because every letter he writes home, he mentions her. He wonders how long it will be until they realize that they like each other. Scorpius looked at the picture of Rose, sitting on his desk.
"Our little boy is growing up."
"Dad, I am done," Jason said as he got off the train for the last time. Remus was right behind him.
"So, am I," Remus smiled. He looked around for his parents. He saw them. "See you later, Jason." Remus ran off to his parents.
Scorpius watched as Jason was looking for someone. He wondered if it was Melody Winters. They were Head Boy and Girl together. Scorpius kept hoping for a letter from him saying that they were together, but nothing. Scorpius saw Melody come off the train and saw a look pass between the two of them.
"Come on, Dad. Let's go to Grandmum Molly's for dinner," Jason pulled his trunk to the exit. Scorpius followed him and wondered what happen between him and the girl.
Later that night, Scorpius knocked on Jason's door. After Jason told him he could enter, Scorpius went in. "Now what is going on between you and Mel?" Scorpius asked.
Jason blushed. "I love her, but I don't want to lose her like you lost Mum. I know she feels the same about me."
Scorpius smiled. "Hey, let me tell you something. Yes, I lost your mum, but I treasure every moment I got to spend with her. I also got you. Would I have liked to see your mum grew old with me? Yes. You have seen many people who love each other. Both sets of grandparents love each other. Your aunt and uncle love each other, I don't think you would have four cousins if they didn't." Jason laughed at that. "So, take a change and sweep the girl off her feet."
Jason ran into his father's house. It was the same house that his parents had when they first married. He knew that his father could have moved to the big house after his grandparents decide to retire to Spain. He found his dad in his office. "Dad," Jason smiled. Scorpius looked up at his son. "She said yes."
"That is great," Scorpius smiled. Jason had asked Mel to marry him last night. "I knew she would," Jason and Mel have been dating for three years after they got together.
"Wow, I'm getting married," Jason started to pace the room. "Do you think that I will be a good husband?"
Scorpius laughed. "You love the girl, don't you?" Jason nodded. "Then I think you will be. Never forget you love her."
Scorpius couldn't hide the tears as he watched Jason marry the girl, he loved. Mel was a beautiful bride. The couple looked so much in love. They had everything they wanted for their wedding. Scorpius spent the morning talking to Rose's grave, telling her how much they had spent on the wedding, and he hoped that Jason and Mel would have the life they never got.
Scorpius spent the night watching the happy couple. When they weren't together, they kept passing glances back and forth to each other. Scorpius watched as they left for their honeymoon. He couldn't be prouder of his son.
"Dad," Scorpius looked up from his breakfast to see Jason come in the room. Jason fell in the chair next to him. Jason and Mel lived in the Manor. "Mel is pregnant," A smile grew on Jason's face. "I'm going to be a father. We were wondering how you would feel if we had a girl, naming Rose, after Mum."
"I think that is a great idea but do what you want." Scorpius said. Jason jumped up. "I have to go. Mel wants to tell her parents."
Jason and Mel welcome a baby girl, who they named Rose.
"Grandaddy," Rose shouted for Scorpius. He watched the girl run for him. He hugged her. She sat on his lap and told him all about her day. Scorpius loved these moments between him and his granddaughter. Jason and Mel had two more children, who were both boys. Rose was his favorite.
"Granddad," Rose was eleven and just got her letter from Hogwarts. "I can't wait to go and learn everything that you, Dad, and Mum learned it all. I'm going to be best student."
Scorpius laughed. "Make sure to have fun," Rose rolled her eyes.
"Of course," She had the same look in her eyes that her namesake had when she was up to something.
"Granddad, I would like you to meet Brad, my boyfriend," Rose smiled. Scorpius saw how much in love she was with him. Brad looked nervous about meeting him, but Scorpius also saw how much he cared for his granddaughter. "Brad this is my granddad, Scorpius."
"Sir," Brad shook hands with him. Scorpius had a feeling that this man was here to stay.
He was right when Rose showed him the ring a year later.
Scorpius entered the room to find Rose laying in bed with two bundles in her arms. Brad was sitting in a chair next to her, looking at his family. "Granddad, I'm glad that you could make it before we left. I would like you to meet Draco and Ronald," She showed him two baby boys.
Scorpius let out a laugh. "How did your great-grandfathers feel about the names you chose for them?"
Rose smiled. "They don't know yet," Scorpius couldn't keep from laughing.
Scorpius felt someone squeezing his hand. He opened his eyes to see Rose, his wife looking at him with the same eyes that their son, he hoped would have. He was glad that she woke up. "Our son is going to have your eyes," Rose rolled her eyes. "I also have a middle name for our son."
"What?" Rose's voice was scratchy.
"Hugo, after your brother," Scorpius couldn't help smiling. Rose smiled, she liked that.
